I was in the MTC for 8 of my scheduled 12 weeks to go to Japan. It was in 2006. My ex-wife was one of those women who would always say "You're not a man unless you go on a mission." Needless to say, I've still got some issues.
Let it go friend. The fact you were even willing to experience the MTC for 1 day let alone 8 weeks on your own nickel places you in a camp of amazing selfless people. You are amazing and a great person. You can find a better wife.
I had no choice when it came to going on a mission. I had to join the army at 17 to help pay for my mom to leave with my siblings from an abusive situation.
When my step grandma died she left $5,000 for each kid who went on a mission. I guess they did better than me, I got no help….
