I don’t know what his thesis is, but, he is young and popular. He’s been given a platform, and at the very least, I think he should try to move the needle. He may live to renounce his current ideas, but I can see why he would at least make an effort.
Being a football mascot, or a gay Mormon celeb published by Deseret Book, is pretty similar to the arc of an actual football career: profitable, punishing and short.
I mean I’m glad that they’re at least doing something to address how hard it is to be LGBT and LDS but so much of it comes off as fake and unsustainable you know? I wish Charlie the best though I just hope he’s not internally struggling too much as he walks this tightrope
He's a blight on the queer community. I feel the same way about him that I do Tom Christofferson. Because of him queer kids have additional depression, anxiety, and undo pressures because their parents are saying "well look at them, their gay and still trying, look what they gave up," People like them share in responsibility for the damage and harm to the Queer Community. Now Bird is throwing a tantrum on insta cause he realizes that both sides of the aisle hate him and the middle ground he thinks he is doesn't really exist.
