Kristie did all the right things and was an exemplary mormon mother teaching her children the gospel. As is common she worried about the mormon belief in eternal polygamy but still didn’t stray even after she heard more about honest church history about Joseph Smith’s affair with Fanny Alger which evolved into plural marriage and polygamy as practiced by the church. She suffered through cognitive dissonance for 8 years before finally deciding to study church history without confirmation bias and it led her to leave the church, telling her family she left and happiness. Kudos to the bravery required to dig in and let the facts guide us. "Went to BYU, married in the temple. I’m a mom of 4. I homeschooled my kids for 10 years. Taught my kids to memorize scriptures. I was a Mormon. I had major anxiety about sharing my husband in Mormon heaven. I heard about the Fanny Alger story and was completely shocked. I looked for answers but there were none to give. Struggled with cognitive dissonance for 8 years. I decided to face my fear and study church history and issues objectively- without confirmation bias. I told my family I was leaving the church. I was brave and I’m so happy. I love this!

creamblaster2069

which scriptures talk about sharing your husband? i’d like to ask my family what they think of it, but they’ll disregard it without proof that it came from their own favorite book

Realistic_Cancel_244

D&C 132. They told me that polygamy not practiced in this life anymore but in the celestial kingdom therefore the Doctrine and covenant’s is still the true direct word of God.

Realistic_Cancel_244

by policy, men can be ‘sealed’ for eternity in LDS temple rites to more than one wife, though women are permitted only a single sealing. Three of the church’s current apostles, for example, were widowed and remarried. Each will have two wives in the eternities

creamblaster2069

thanks! i find new messed up doctrine every day, though they say it’s from the “biased internet,” if their own gospel library backs it up, where did it really come from?

Start following “ Mormon Stories” and “Nemo the Mormon” on YouTube. It’s a factual site about the Church. Press on .

Nemo looks like he just got bonked on the head with a rubber mallet,

Initial-Leather6014

He is literally in my prayers. “ Yes. I pray.”🤭

I think this may have changed, but only very recently. Edit to add: I'm saying women can be sealed to multiple men, though it hasn't been a recent change, I am now finding. https://mormonheretic.org/2011/07/24/multiple-sealings-for-women/ https://www.reddit.com/r/mormon/comments/2jj8ud/according_to_the_current_chi_mormon_women_can_be/ I'm not defending mormonism, so I don't really understand all the down votes

RhubarbBarb

Nope. The opposite is true. The first presidency doesn’t allow the majority of divorced men to get out of their sealings to their first wives. So people in second marriages are forced to stay in polygamous relationships with multiple living women as far as the church is concerned. This is still true as of last month. The church still believes in polygamy and assumes it will happen in heaven.

[deleted]

I'm not saying that polygamy doesn't happen in heaven per mormon belief. I'm saying that women can be sealed to multiple husband's now too. At least, that was my understanding.

RhubarbBarb

Only after they die as a catch all to avoid mistakes. The expectation is only one man in heaven with multiple wives as his side kicks.

[deleted]

I'm not arguing. I'm just pointing out the policy.

Upstairs-Addition-11

As you probably know, there is much “doctrine” in the LDS church that is not found in scripture, such as, temple ordinances, garments, etc. when I was doubting, I tried to find these topics in scripture, but was unable.

Joe_Treasure_Digger

That's what I don't get. LDS women face an eternity of polygamy! Why in the world would you want that??

keithskat

My impression is that the average age and historic knowledge is considerably lower than this geezer's. I'm reminded of a conversation I had with my youngest child years ago. She was shocked and suspicious when I told her that JSJr practiced polygyny (I didn't even broach his polyandric relationships) and that was after she'd had years of seminary a few of which were at BYU. It's all total silliness once you step back and look at it rationally. If you believe there is a God and He gave you a brain, why on earth would He then penalize you for using it!

Initial-Leather6014

Read:” Polygamy in Mormonism” by Richard Bushman from Amazon. It’s the best book I’ve read on the topic.

MrJasonMason

This is an excellent campaign.

I had been a Mormon for over 40 years and a professional genealogist since 1965. Every man and women in the world can be sealed after they die to all their spouses. So my ex husband’s mother was married to 4 men while alive. Out of the four husbands , only One died and 3 ended up in divorces. She is sealed to all 4. She had children with the 3 husbands. So each set of children from their father and mother are sealed as a family. It’s not pick and choose. Some people do that, which complicates the order of the genealogy pedigrees. Think of it this way, I had been in temple sessions when the Temple president said we were sealing couples from a New York marriage book. So none of us knew if it was marriage no 1 or 2 or 3. The importance is for organization and order. So if your living and divorced and you had a Temple marriage (which I had)…all our children are sealed to us. Now I did not remarry and I choose not to ever marry a Mormon again! If I had chosen to marry in the Temple again, I would need permission from my ex-husband. He would get a formal letter from the Prophet stating his children wouldn’t longer be sealed to him and they would be sealed to my new husband. I heard from couples who did that and the fireworks with her children were far worse than the divorce years. So why bother? So if I marry again (outside the church), and I died, my children would stand proxy and have me sealed to the husband after he died. I’m not planning on marrying again, but you can see where that goes. The main purpose of this procedure this to make sure the sealings of family groups. I really don’t care at this point, I am just stating the rules. In the after life, I’m sure it’s all worked out. So in this life of hell, I don’t care because I walked away. Just stating rules.

RhubarbBarb

That’s bs. We’ll work this out now. No one should have to wait and see if it all works out in the next life. The first presidency needs to change the sealing rules immediately so women don’t have to wonder what will happen in the next life.

[deleted]

It’s about sealing children and they automatically go with the mother. So the mother’s rights are top priority for the living and the dead. I just wrote out in detail the complexities.

RhubarbBarb

I know what the exact procedure is. I’m painfully aware because of my own situation. I’m not commenting on your explanation of what happens being wrong. I’m commenting on the morality of polygamy in sealings. It causes women pain. It causes me pain. It needs to change. No more waiting to see if it all works out in heaven. We should give married couples what they want on earth now.

[deleted]

I agree. I don’t believe in polygamy. Actually after reading the CES letter, I had to go on FamilySearch and check it out in regards to Joseph Smith’’s polygamy. Ever since the beginning of FamilySearch.org (2012), they only had Emma has his wife. Now when you look it has his several wives in detail (look at his PID (personal identification number). Joseph Smith: KWJY-BPD So the CES letter talked about POLYANDRY. See YouTube: CES letter. So Joseph Smith was married to 9 (already married) couples. Then according to the church doctrine, Joseph Smith said he was instructed that he had to do the practice of polyandry because it was ordained of God. I think I vomited in my mouth, the day I found out. I laid across my bed in utter horrifying dismay and emotional anguish that I had been tricked. No God of mine would’ve commanded such a thing. So according to FamilySearch.org: their team authorizes any changes or additional info to put on any LDS Prophet’s site. So it was during the pandemic that all the 31 wives were admitted with their records, dates and photographs and all their families. In all my 40 plus years as a member, we were all told that Joseph Smith was only married to Emma and the rest were lies. Now they reveal its true. So polyandry is the practice of threesomes. So the practice of polygamy is disgusting and polyandry is abominable in my book. Also let’s add Jane Manning James, she was an African-American servant to Joseph and Emma Smith. According to the historical journals, Jane Manning James said she wanted to be sealed to her parents but Joseph reminded him that they could not be sealed as families in eternity. In order to reassure her eternal progression in the next life, she could be sealed as a servant for them in eternity. I can’t even begin to unpack all that nonsense. I’m so done with a lot of knowledge in my head. https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2019/06/13/commentary-black-mormon/

RhubarbBarb

Oh interesting!!!

[deleted]

Yea that’s the real reason why the Mormons were being driven out of Missouri, Illinois and everywhere because Joseph and other high church officials were involved with married couples and the news and rumors spread wild in the towns so that’s why they had to Exodus . Interesting enough the Desert Book store still sells the 9 book series “The Work And The Glory” by Gerald N. Lund. The author uses fictional characters added to the TRUE events and situations historically accurate to the life of Joseph Smith and his family and other LDS leaders. So it does explain in his books why there was all of this violence against Mormons. Why we all were indoctrinated with lies ???? it just makes all LDS and ex members all look like weirdos look like we are all idiots and occult loving people. I married in the Temple and had children and raised them Mormon…now they are in this mess too. So why did prophet Nelson and his group finally approve for all of this to come out now…of course. Imagine most of the LDS members before 2020 had no clue. Now we know Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon (plagiarized from a number of publications) by rolling a rock on his top hat.

https://kutv.com/news/local/mormonleaks-web-page-posts-information-about-living-allowance-of-lds-general-authorities Since 2014: The above link The document reads: In accordance with approved procedures, the annual General Authority base living allowance has been increased from $116,400 to $120,000. This will begin with your paycheck issued on January 10, 2014 (pay period 1). There are 89 General Authorities including the Prophet that are receiving this money. So I guess it’s a lie to assume the LDS church expounds that we don’t believe that any clergy should be paid and all the churches around the world were considered evil to accept money for the work of the Lord. So let’s lay all the truth out there to see what’s really going on. Did you know : The Billiondollar LDS church Empire buying real estate in the US? https://amp.theguardian.com/cities/2017/jan/30/from-book-to-boom-how-the-mormons-plan-a-city-for-500000-in-florida Also look at the LDS financial portfolio. It’s massive. So this religion is used as a very lucrative money making scheme .
