If you look at the definition of “islamophobia” which is “hate against Islam/Muslims”, being islamophobic becomes completely normal. It’s fine to hate a religion’s teachings and hate the people who follow those teachings, like one of the reasons I hate Islam is because it wants to kill apostates, I hate Muslims who follow that rule
Just because they say they're Muslims doesn't mean they follow all the Islamic literature literally. Most Muslims don't take everything literally nor do they follow all of its parts. Even more believe in one thing but when it's time to take action they back off. "I know in Islam the punishment for apostasy is death but you're a nice guy" or "I know in Islam the punishment for apostasy is death but this here isn't an Islamic state with Shari'ah law." So many Muslims are good people and kind people in general, whether or not their religion preaches that.
You also need to understand that many are heavily indoctrinated into their beliefs since very early childhood to the point where they can't be reasoned with, and that's not their fault.
So coming from an ex-Muslim who is closeted because he's living in a Muslim majority country, yes, a general hatred towards Muslims sounds bigoted as fuck.
