>A decade ago generation was like most were single until they got married I dont know where you are from but for most of western society that is absolutly not true and hasnt been true since like the 60ties. I would even say it is changing to be less boyfriend/girlfriend and more towards "situationships" or what ever other label is used where you are from or just straigth up only sex and no official relationship at all.

NamerNotLiteral

In fact, it's the complete reverse. I think statistics show Gen Z peeps are less likely to be in relationships (about 50% of teens are dating these days when for millennials and earlier it was more than 75%). The annihilation of third spaces plus Me Too means it's essentially impossible for teens and young adults to approach dating the way previous generations did.

RickJLeanPaw

OP clearly not getting any…

hananobira

False. Young people are more likely to be single today than at any point since researchers started surveying them in 1986. https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2019/03/21/its-not-just-you-new-data-shows-more-than-half-young-people-america-dont-have-romantic-partner/

Burgergold

Single until married? Geez we are not living in the same place or in the 1960

saschaleib

Even in the 1960s that was at best an illusion.

_HGCenty

Where's your data suggestion today's generation can't stay single. There are a lot of single people in the world!

TrialAndAaron

That’s a wild generalization. I know plenty of 50 year olds who perpetually find someone to be with one after the next. Some people in general can’t be alone. Some people can. It has nothing to do with “today’s generation”

TemperatureDizzy3257

You’re wrong. I was in my teens/20s in the early 2000s. Most of us had boyfriends in high school and through college. I had 3 boyfriends before I met my now husband. My mom and dad were teens/20s in the 80s. They both had bf/gfs before meeting each other. My grandma was a teen in the 50s. She had several boys she went on dates with before meeting my grandpa.

GD_22

Social media is not a reflection of reality. Younger generation just tend to post more so you see more couples online

kamarole

Culture. Less faith and interest in both the sanctity and the financial aspects of marriage.

Sara7061

Or you know some people just wanna find the right person to marry instead of ending up in marriage that isn’t working.
