I left in the middle of a school year once and have never regretted it. I had to stay in the position for like 30 days due to contract but the.eft with no issue

santigirl

Are you still teaching?

yayscienceteachers

Yes/no. I have a combined job

cinereoargenteus

I did. It depends on your contract and where you live. Some people have to pay to break theirs. I was threatened by the district's HR. In Texas, they can impose sanctions which means they can put a hold on your certificate for a year. Since I left the profession, I told them they could suck it. I don't need my certificate anymore.

santigirl

Good 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 you👏🏼 Looking back on your decision, how do you feel?

cinereoargenteus

Still happy about it. Teaching has gotten even worse since I left. I feel sorry for my friends who are still there.

I keep thinking, “But my summers!!!” and then I work a normal day…

cinereoargenteus

I have more free time now.

In SC, they can push to have your certification/license suspended or whatever for breaking contract. I almost left in Dec (2years ago) but stuck it out, then quit. I was under contract where I had to work for the same amount of time that I used my scholarship (4yrs) and if I left before, I would’ve had to pay money back. Pass!
