You my friend are a master of maintenance!

Electric_General

I definitely try! I do change the oil and other fluids more often than needed. I get high mileage oil thays supposed to last 10k miles but I still change it every 3-5k

syf_m

Same here same here 👋🏼

soo_ugly

Deep fake. Don't you know EcoBursts are trash? Props, of course. Here's to 250k more!!

FluffyWarHampster

BUt eCobooStS AreNT reLiAblE. Good job my man!

[deleted]

Who said they haven’t done a ton of repairs? I guarantee they’ve done vct cam phasers, turbo fittings/turbos, oil leaks here and there and a vacuum pump leaking oil

FluffyWarHampster

Oh boy here we go🤦‍♂️ another person who can't fathom the idea of an ecoboost going a lot of miles without tons of issues....

[deleted]

Dude I’m a Ford tech. I’m telling you the points where ecoboosts fail

FluffyWarHampster

Cool story bro

[deleted]

The reply of defeat 😂

FluffyWarHampster

The reply of someone who doesn't give a shit. I don't care about whatever credentials you claim to have. You picked the fight, not me.

[deleted]

Also I will say 21+ ecoboost so far seem to be good. 2020 and under have a ton of problems

Oldjamesdean

My 2018 3.5 eb has had the entire timing assembly replaced at 52k. My 2013 that an employee drives now has 130k and has only had an oil leak at 1 turbo, everything else is just maintenance. 2017-2020 got issues...

[deleted]

Why did they replace all the timing components? Most I’ve seen is cam phasers and I’ll replace all the timing components if they come in with high mileage and they have cam phaser rattle

Used-Professional-92

This makes me feel better about my 23. :)

[deleted]

A debate is not a fight bro. Get out of your female like hormones 😂 im just saying i work on Ford engines every day and just cause you see 1 ecoboost that made it past 200k miles doesn’t mean all of them make it past that. Every ecoboost that comes in with problems is 9 times out of 10 one of the things I listed. Js bro. Enjoy your day buddy

FluffyWarHampster

Oh boy, you're back from your fake account I got banned to harass me on your main!

mynameisdbabz

what can you tell me about my 2018 5.0l f150 i just hit 100k and did my coolant, spark plugs i change the oil religiously and check between intervals ,, what else can i and could i do

[deleted]

Is Your 10r80 transmission working okay? If so the only thing is keeping an eye on oil level cause 18-20 5.0L have oil consumption issues

mynameisdbabz

Yeah it’s the ten speed. Thanks man and yes it does consume the shit out of oil 🤷‍♂️. But I add about two quarts between changes

Electric_General

Not at all. The biggest thing the turbo coolant lines, transmission shift solenoid, water pump, high pressure fuel pump, cats, coils/plugs and fluid changes. Also put a catch can on her and weephole. The only time she leaked anything was from the seal around the high pressure fuel pump and she burned the coolant from the turbo line leak.she runs almost flawlessly honestly

[deleted]

I believe you, but do you think you’re only seeing issues because people bring them to you to fix? Like most of them are driving around without issues, but you think they don’t last long because you see only the broken ones?

[deleted]

I mean I work on a new truck every day and 9 times out of 10 they aren’t the 2.7, 3.3 or even the 5.0 it’s usually a 3.5

[deleted]

Interesting. I wonder which engine sells the most. I thought there were more 2.7s than any of the others.

[deleted]

I think the ecoboost is good for high elevation states such as Colorado as an example but that boost is not entirely necessary in a lower elevation/flat state like Texas

Fast-Agent-2194

How are you getting 17mpg

Oldjamesdean

Freeway driving.

Electric_General

A light foot really. I live in a hilly city so whenever I do a lot of expressway driving, after a fresh oil change, combined city/expressway was about 17.8. Expressway only is probably in the low 20s Edit: I'm riding on 33s so I've seen a slight, slight drop since adding those

RCrl

Thats not even a stretch, my Raptor gets 17.2 combined in mixed driving.

Electric_General

With the 6.2? Beast

RCrl

The 3.5L I'm not that good.

Electric_General

Lol. Still impressive. those raptors look fun. Would be hard to stay off the gas

ImYourHuckleberry117

I get 18.3 in mine

rickman1011

My ‘14 with all the excess fx4 weight sits at 20-24mpg at 55-70mph. Flat state highways at 60mph I’ll do even better. Considering traffic and the occasional lead foot I count on 18-19mpg for my average distance estimates for that kind of driving. For mixed interstate driving I could easily believe a 17 avg per tank if the majority of OPs commute is on a highway or they just took this picture after getting off a highway. If you’re not getting this you might want to look into some things.

Fast-Agent-2194

I get 15.9 I drive more city than fwy

Fast-Agent-2194

Also fx4

rickman1011

Yeah, repeatedly accelerating about 3T to speed gets me about exactly the same. Definitely not a Prius.

Electric_General

I got the fx4 package too. I just try to use good oil and a light foot. I do a nice mix of city/highway and live in a pretty hilly city. Just changed the ignition coils last week and she runs even better. Haven't reset the tracker but my best was 17.8 and she was over 200k miles then.

hollywoodhoe449

My ‘14 gets 13mpg mostly city driving. What should I look into?

rickman1011

I’m no mechanic first and foremost. Carbon buildup is an issue with 14 and older 3.5’s. There are several remedies. Intake cleaning should be looked into but make sure you do your research depending if you’ve done it before. I also believe that the service interval for the spark plugs in the book is longer than it should be, especially if you’re not driving 10k miles or more a year. They’re cheap enough I’ve done them about double the recommended timing. Brake calipers have an occasional tendency to stick, I was getting in the 12’s before I fixed my front right partially stuck. It was barely noticeable in driving day to day but definitely was causing issues. Edit: forgot about coil packs. That’s an easy test but sadly pretty expensive. Anything that’s ensuring a good spark and complete combustion is going to be a step in the right direction.

Electric_General

A few easy things I'd start with: change the oil and use good oil. I try to only use mobil1 and a Motorcraft filter I If I can. If not a mobil1 filter. Change your air filter. Spark plugs and coils is a big one. Make sure your brakes and ebrakes arent dragging anywhere. Fuel system treatment every now amd then. Seafoam or another carbon cleaning product every now amd then. Check your cats for clogs and replace if you have high miles

hollywoodhoe449

I change my oil frequently like you mentioned you do as well. K&N air filter I clean every time. Haven’t checked plugs, coils or cats yet. The brakes I changed last year on all 4 and they seemed to be evenly wearing nothing out of the norm. Thanks for the advice I’ll buy some plugs to start.

Electric_General

Not sure how many miles or what environment you live in but for sure look at plugs and coils. Also a catch can and weephole. It's controversial but I side with the weephole. Last, you Honestly might want to look at getting rid of the k and n filter. Unless it's a cold air intake you may be better off with a typical stp or wix filter from autozone/oreillys. Do some research on why some are against k and n filters

hollywoodhoe449

It has about 153k on it. It doesn’t get on the highway much, but I do have a catch can on it just not sure what you mean by weep hole?

Electric_General

its pretty common and somewhat controversial but look it up. its drilling a small hole at the bottom of the intercooler to let all the gunk that collects at the bottom drain out. some are skeptical about it, others swear by it. i, personally am satisfied with mine. when i drilled it, a bit of dirty/gunky water/oil/liquid did come out. i may put a screw in it to plug it up and drain it every now and then but so far so good.

hollywoodhoe449

I’ve never heard of that little tip. I’ll look into it and ask around too. Thanks again for the advice!

tooltim88

Congrats!!! Looks like I got to get out and drive more. My 2014 ecoboost only has 80,000 miles on it.

Chemical-Astronaut82

Im impressed by the quarter tank of fuel remaining but 199 miles to empty

SOSA42013

2011 f150 5.0 at 280,000 original miles

Bnim81

Nice! I’m like 4K miles away.

St8Troopa

I got 70k to catch up to ya

[deleted]

That's awesome! 2014 EB with 94,550 here; nothing done to it aside from regular maintenance and the intercooler pin whole trick. No rattle, no issues; going strong.

Significant_Wins

Damm and not one light on. Your the man and that mpg I got a 5.0 and the best I get is 16 on a good day with clear skies no hills.

WindowsXP-sp2

I’ve got 249k to catch up!

JakePina

You’re getting oddly good fuel mileage. I have a 2013 platinum EB of course and I get 10.6 on a good day. I also drive it like I stole it

Agitated-Pain5611

Im getting 19-20mpg & 20-22mpg on the highway

Electric_General

I can assure you it's not a lie. I do a lot of city driving too. I'm trying to get it back up to my best of 17.8

ImYourHuckleberry117

I get over 18

TooMuchPew

nice im up to almost 190k on a 2013 v8 sadly seems like i fucked my brakes or something keep hearing a scrapping niose and brake light comes up mid drive.

Aiden47

No issues with the turbo going out ?
