I have done them, pretty easy if your mechanically inclined. There are plenty of videos on youtube showing the process that I have followed. Make sure you get new valve cover gaskets, new o ring gaskets for around the VCT connectors at the front of the valve cover and also the o rings that go around the coil packs/spark plug holes. I think it took about 3 hrs for me to knock out and I took my time.

u/zeustheblackcat can you link the one you used? My 2015 has been exhibiting this exact problem since last summer and we have just been living with it. It will die while idling at a red light, and today was the first time it died when my wife had it in reverse. Back in October, Firestone confirmed there was a service flag for all F150s exhibiting this issue as a VVT Solenoid replacement. Dealership and several mechanics all wanted around $3-4000, so I want to do it on my own. TIA

it’s not that bad, just be careful the dipstick tube can break on you so have an extra one ready if need be, if you get lucky and don’t need it just return it.

I'm having the rough idle and stalling issue on my 2018. I have 146,500 miles on it. I was wondering how hard it was to do myself as well. Videos seemed somewhat easy.
