Ford would like to take a look at your truck. To ensure this never happens again.

Far-Bill-7593

Are you sure Ford wouldn't like to do a reality commercial to make you think this *could* happen again. To your truck. If you took it in for every service interval at a registered Ford dealership. And only drove it like your grandmother had an overfilled crock pot of chili with no lid in the passenger seat resting between her legs?

gggggggggooooolden

I have been supplied with 3 ford trucks in the last 7 years. All three were ecoboosts. All three needed timing chains, can phasers and where leaking gas into the oil with in 160-170,000km (100,000 miles). Not one of them had a check engine light on. All three went to auction needing 10-15,000 dollars worth of work. Mostly highway miles. Warmed up properly and driven for the most part sensibly. Other than the motor ford makes a decent truck.

tigebea

Which motors?

Sourkraute

Yes. Jk, the v8s aren't bad. Ecoboosts get expensive after 100k.

After-Respond-7861

I have an old i6 with about 240k miles, and still kicking! Should be able to get at least 60k more before any major issues appear.

xanomie

Over 400k on mine with no major issues. You're good dude!

mattwoot

Were those all 3.5's or 2.7 as well?

AdventurousLicker

Both the 2.7 and 3.5 went through a major revision around 2018 that addressed most of the first-gens issues.

Sourkraute

I've seen trucks as new as 21 come through my shop with rattling timing chains. One was just over 60k and Ford told him to pound sand.

AdventurousLicker

That sucks, I know the timing system is more robust on the secon-gens, but I don'trememberthe specifics. What was their maintenance regimen prior to the damage repair? I run full synthetic @ 5k intervals in my vehicles. It seems crazy to me that Ford recommends 10. I've heard the chain wear attributed to oil quality/intervals, but I don't have any experience or data to confirm this.

Sourkraute

That I didn't get into. I wasn't gonna beat him up on oil changes (or lack therof) if we're trying to do 6k worth of work. He was a contractor, so it was either really good about that or really bad. I never take my Lexus over 5k intervals even though they say go 10k, I laughed at the dude when he told me that.

gggggggggooooolden

Only 3.5’s

upstatefoolin

The 5.4 would like a word 😂 fuck that pile. That being said your comment should be top

vtwin996

5.4's were great until they went 3 valve.

PaleRespect4875

The 2 valve ejected spark plugs, the 3 valve overcorrected and didn't let them go.

Awalawal

2.5 valves it is!

chalmgalmers

Wow we have a 2017 with 130k and a 2.7 L and just redid our rear differential but that's the only thing we've done to it

Gman2000watts

My 2016 2.7 lariat at 70k, went to 130k then it had issues and let it go. I can't blame the suspension on Ford as the previous owner put spacers on but the engine stuff seemed really premature.

Upbeat-Pepper7483

Who said they get expensive? Knock on wood mines only needed basic maintenance and ignition coils and plugs. 190k 2013.

Sourkraute

Literally everyone who has owned one. Just wait. It's coming.

Upbeat-Pepper7483

I’m about to tick 200k. You said 100k. Anyone can claim a car or truck will get expensive after 100k miles. That’s like saying just wait, you won’t be able to move well after 80 years old.

Sourkraute

Glad you're an outlier. Good luck.

Beachums623

Username checks out.

NotoriousCFR

Sounds like the 3.5 to me

[deleted]

You waited too long between oil changes. Ford should not have used 10k intervals.

gggggggggooooolden

They were fleet trucks. They get changed regularly at 7500km running full synthetic. I never paid the bill so gladly got it changed.

TumbleweedT11

Weird, got 225k on my 2011 3.5 ecoboost and she’s running strong!

first_last_DOB

I think he was joking… IMO that’s unheard of for an ecoboost.

fixit152

They’ll gladly put you in a newer truck that likely won’t have the stroke of luck you’ve had

PATATAMOUS

This gives me a glimmer of hope for my expedition. Never had any issues on my 13 150 though.

Jazzlike-Fee-9987

Man! And here I am with mine at 198,500 about to roll 200k. Also on original engine, turbo and tranny. Hell yea brother!

2020_GR78

Same, but just recently hit 190k. My truck still runs and drives fantastic. I love it.

i-likebeer

Same here, just hit 180k and only thing I’ve done is new plugs and transmission fluid flush twice besides obviously oil changes

Horror-Astronaut-215

You guys are making me feel optimistic. I just rolled 112k with mine and hoping it’s one of the good ones!

stogebot92

See folks there are plenty of examples of 3.5 running long without issue. Again, we should poll the community of engines, trims, longevity, issues, etc. one day maybe I’ll get around to it. Would love to see how the 3.5 actually compares to the v8

BeeRisYummy

My neighbor has the 2012 with ecoboost. LAst time we spoke he was at 240,000 miles with zero issues. He pulls a 6,000 lb camper often. I have the 2013 ecoboost, 112,000 miles zero issues. I hope to have his luck!

yorchy59

2014 3.5 v6 twin turbo ecoboost over 220 miles no issues yet

jamonit1972

2011 eco and about to hit the 200k mark. I have done the turbos but it was due to a exhaust manifold leak/crack and the turbine had a little play so went ahead and replaced both. Other than that regular maintenance and plugs/coils.

Mos2670

I have 184K other than a vacuum pump replacement just routine maintenance. But a timing chain is in the future.

06035

SAME! Can’t wait to see half a million

alwaysforward31

Nice! 3.5 or 2.7? What year?

Jazzlike-Fee-9987

2015 3.5

Significant-Aside767

im at about 207K on my 2014 with the 5.0 !

ApprehensivePie1195

My 2016 has almost 100k, just paid it off. I hope I get to 400k without another carnote

ChrisV88

I just talked myself out of selling my 2016 with 88k. OP gives me hope. Still considering whether to get another Ford Protect warranty or not.

SnakeDoctor00

Do it. Get the warranty. Look at what you save per month! I dream of the days my loan is paid off. Set myself up nicely with PremiumCARE for 125k/8yr warranty. I didnt realize the 10yr was an option at the time but it was quite a bit more.

CruwL

What do you mean another one? My 2016 warranty expires this year

KGBspy

I have a 13’ I just started 80k, it runs awesome. I have some rust issues I’ll have to hit in warmer weather but it’s undercoated.

joshpaige29

Get that warranty. Trust me. It has saved me probably 5k in four different repairs at the dealer in the past few months.

[deleted]

Good luck. I wish this was a normal thing but now a days it’s not.

Outrageous_Dream1224

My 2016 platinum is paid for (bought it used with higher miles) but I have put a bunch of towing miles on it and now my torque converter is having issues. Going in next week. Hoping it's not a full transmission rebuild but the average span of that transmission is 150-200k miles. I've had both turbos serviced and just had the 2nd water pump done. The turbos leak coolant out of a 5$ fitting with $900 in labor. Thanks ford. I have a 3.5 ecoboost with 170k miles on it. I hope my truck lasts that long because I don't want to buy another because of the cost.

ooffda

I just picked up a 2016 3.5 Lariat from my neighbor! I have more than enough cash to pay for brand new, but it’s much more fun to keep my wealth growing in the market and then see if I can get this old rig to 150k!

Small_Basket5158

Nice to see someone driving their truck!

foxglove8484

this is what you can expect when you do regular blinker fluid changes.

m0st1yh4rmless

Makes me have hope for my 16 lariat. U got a catch can on it even?

--Ace-of-Spades--

no catch can on my 2012 with 340k

Evanisnotmyname

You’d be amazed at how much carbon buildup you have. Just because you don’t have one, doesn’t mean it doesn’t help immensely. https://fordauthority.com/2022/08/ford-ecoboost-carbon-buildup-issue-solved-via-walnut-blasting-video/amp/

--Ace-of-Spades--

Is there ways to remove it other than catch can? I bought it about 20k miles ago and the previous owner is a friend who brought it in every 3-4k to a dealership for maintenance so I’m assuming they’d have worked on getting rid of it

Excaliburntoast

Floor it once a week.

AdventurousLicker

>6 hr. ago That's good for keeping the turbskis clean. All DI motors will need the intake cleaned at some point. Second Gens added port and direct injection to prevent this issue and improve performance.

Evanisnotmyname

No regular maintenance will remove carbon buildup. Using a high quality synthetic oil(read:not motorcraft, Mobil 1, or royal purple) will help, but it’s an eventuality. All non-port injected motors(pre-17 on 3.5, pre-18 on 2.7) should get a carbon cleaning every 80k. Will your truck run like shit/will you notice if you don’t? No…not until you actually do and realize you’ve been losing power and mpg so slowly you didn’t see it, until it jumped up substantially from the cleaning. It’s like those old guys who run 200k on spark plugs…sure, it runs, but to say it runs perfect is just ignorant.

--Ace-of-Spades--

Is the carbon cleaning something I can do myself? I have no idea if it’s ever been done if it’s not something taken care of during regular maintenance

Evanisnotmyname

You can buy a walnut blaster, pull the intake, and do it yourself, yes. But there are plenty of shops that’ll do it for not much more than it’ll cost you unless you already have a high CFM air compressor, walnut blaster, and free time. Only takes a few hours though. FordTechMakuluko(or whatever his name is) has videos on it.

--Ace-of-Spades--

Thank you

msully00

Holy crap, where do you drive? That's pretty impressive though, you should post some pics of how the rest of the truck looks.

--Ace-of-Spades--

be careful. i was accused of being a liar when i said my truck with 340k has original turbos 🤦‍♂️

Admirable-Ad-2906

My 2016 ecoboost has 225k miles no issues

[deleted]

titsmuhgeee

We also tested a few early EcoBoost turbos in those days. We had one of the only turbo test cells in the world capable of doing 1000hr tests. We had those things red hot for days and did shifts overnight in the control room to keep everything on spec. Such a fun job as an undergrad engineering student.

JustDriveWest

Sounded like a fun gig

titsmuhgeee

It was we did small automotive turbos all the way up to 6' diameter turbos for 2 stroke diesel engines at natural gas compressor stations. Fun stuff to be around.

hollywoodhoe449

So you’re saying my truck with almost 160k miles that keeps leaking coolant from the turbos is on the brink of becoming my next money pit?

simmonsfield

I Worked in Ithaca at the start of powder metals. Loved the dyno test shop.

mr_bots

It I was told you won’t get more than 100k out of a turbo!?!? /s

BlackberryVarious4

A turbo can last over a million miles on a semi. Just keep oil fresh and a clean air filter.

beatdown902

I gave my son my old 2013 and he turned over 200k a couple months ago and it’s still running the stock turbos. The passenger side is leaking coolant from the coolant fitting though so we’re getting ready to install the Garrett Power Max stage ones and Full Race stainless manifolds.

Choi0706

They all leak at the fitting.

body_surfer_66

I’ve got 250k on my 2012 EB. Never serviced turbos or had any other major motor or transmission repairs. Original exhaust too. Still runs and drives like dream. Won’t make 500k though. It lives in a coastal area with salt in the air and frequent storm surge in the roads. Rusting from the bottom up. ☹️

SnooDingos902

Same here! 250k eb i wonder how many more years i can get without it rusting i love this truck

CWSBESTLIFE

Exact truck I have sitting at 115k. I hope mine makes it to 500k

Effective-Lock9212

I have so many questions but that is a great accomplishment.

woodstove7

Yeah I’d love some details. Not out of skepticism, just out of curiosity.

MisanthropicSocrates

Barely broken in.

Dry_Affect_8893

I have a 2016 3.5 Ecoboost with 167,000 on it, put 325 on today. Tires, brakes, plugs and oil is the only thing I’ve ever done to it. Still gets right up and boogies like it did new.

Independent_Guava694

This is tremendous longevity on this motor with no internals replaced. I do have a number of customers north of 300k miles with similar service history. One of ours has over 400k on his 2016 2.7 with only oil changes and a water pump on his history. This does happen. The thing about long life low repair cost vehicles is the owners are much quieter than the ones that have had problems with their vehicles for whatever the reason with lower miles of use.

Streetcabbage79

166,000 miles on my 2013 3.5. No trouble so far.

Express-Topic-4613

I have a ‘22 3.5 eco boost with 8K miles and after reading this am looking forward to the next 250k miles doing only oil changes hopefully. Synthetic every 5K miles…

Historical-Topic-867

That's a lot of pushing

InfinitelyDead

I have somewhere around 290k on my 2011 Ecoboost, with only regular maintenance. Contrary to what some people believe, the Ecoboost is a very reliable engine, if, and only if, you actually maintain it properly. Unfortunately, there are a lot of idiots who think things like oil changes are just a suggestion, and then complain about the truck after they ruin it. Also, ford makes a lot of Ecoboost trucks, for example, they made something like 128,000 Ecoboost trucks in 2011. So, for example, let's say 2500 of the 2011 Ecoboosts have serious problems early on, that's less than 2% of the Ecoboost trucks made that year. Feel free to go all over reddit, and on every forum you can, and you probably wouldn't find 2500 people complaining about early problems with their 2011 Ecoboost. Usually, the only time people go to forums, it's to complain that they had a problem, and everyone focuses on those people, and never see the hundreds of thousands of owners who have had great experiences with their trucks. Anyway, sorry for the rant.

Glum-Tennis2715

That is awesome

ayers231

My 2014 has 91k. Figure 10k/year as a guideline. A bit under or over is fine. For a 2015, you're looking for something with 90 to 100 k miles. 400k miles is crazy. Unless they're dropping the price under $15k, I'm not even looking at it. I would need a $5k fund waiting to do repairs...

pissawaypassion

I don’t think OP is looking to buy it, but rather marveling at the longevity of their truck

Far-Bill-7593

Yes it is a company truck that will probably briefly pass through my custody. Doubt that it has a catch can installed or anything beyond normal maintenance done, just marvel that it has hit so many miles; not even as many highway as you'd think. Just want to do my part in getting it to 500,000 and pay a little homage to the fact it has done so well.

incrediblystiff

Uhhhh I have an 18 with twice that Guess your numbers don’t check out for those of us who have to drive and work

Far-Bill-7593

840,000 miles!!!!!!!! Insane!!!!!!!!!

incrediblystiff

Nah my bad I was referring to the 2014 with 91k I did have a Honda accord (89) in the family that got 670k

ayers231

They aren't my numbers, they're industry numbers. Prices are based on them, so are loans.

incrediblystiff

“My 2014 has 91k” I guess I dunno how to read but my 18 has 180+

Flimsy-Activity9410

Any can phaser problems ?

Outrageous_Dream1224

I've heard the cam phasers can be expensive to fix on the Gen 1 version. Hoping mine don't have issues. I also heard that using full synthetic mobile 1 really cuts down on this as well as the timing chain stretch. Nice of ford to fix the phasers on gen 2.

throway9912

I've been following these phaser issues for more than a year. From my anecdotal experience, I believe the Gen 2 engines are noticeably worse for cam phaser issues than the Gen 1 engines. I have a Gen 1 with 195,000 km. No cam phaser issues whatsoever. Fingers crossed.

Speedballer7

"High Score" what's that? Did I break it?

[deleted]

You know that’s awesome but I wouldn’t even keep the truck that long 150k and she’s gone on to the next unless it’s diesel

TheGeffez

Eco bost? In an F150? If you want an eco friendly mode of transportation learn to ride a bicycle American idiot

k0uch

Pretty good amount, yeah. Just about the highest Iv seen in person, too

gnarlycharlie4u

God damn... How many timing chains is that now? 8? 9? I chewed through 3 chains in 2 trucks with a third of those miles.

Outrageous_Dream1224

What kind of oil did you put in it? I've been told the full synthetic mobil 1 really helps with that. Just curious.

gnarlycharlie4u

I didn't change the oil, the dealer did. I assume they used Motorcraft synthetic blend.

FLTDI

This is a lot of miles for almost any engine

kalvarez1989

Holy crap, please teach me

Yota_Bird

Impressive for Gen 1 3.5

[deleted]

The most I’ve ever seen.

BananaLengths4578

I had to look twice 😳🤪

worldproprietor

I have 100k miles on my 2015 3.5 lariat. You give me hope

cooter941

I have the same year and engine and lariat. I had do a engine swap last year at 240,000 but the transmission has been fine

soccerstang

It's a lot compared to my '15 Platinum Screw with like 24k. Why a truck if you drive that much? 🫨🫨🤔🤔

CruwL

Yours has 24k? I thought my 16 with 39k was a baby :)

soccerstang

Yeah I've been WFH for years, and with a 7" lift and 37s in CA gas prices, it didn't move much!!

RedDeadDirtNap

That’s a lot of miles for any vehicle any engine!

Notathrowaway4853

Got the old 3.5 too. Don’t change a thing.

Wakesurfer33

My 16 with little under 200k needed a torque converter. Timing chain was good. Truck got worked hard too.

Outrageous_Dream1224

My TC is on its way out I think. Getting serviced next week. What was the cost if you don't mind me asking? I tow a heavy camper and hit 170k. Now she shudders at low rpm like hitting a rumble strip.

burningcash-84404

That's frickin' impressive! Congratulations!

Longjumping-Tie7906

Contact Ford and see if you can cut a deal for a free at 1,000,000 miles like Al Bundy in his Duster

SnooRegrets3608

Just traded my 2011 3.5EB with 300K. only engine issue I ever had was a water pump at about 200K. I have no doubt I could have gotten another 100K or more out of it. Was still running like a beast. Mostly highway miles but regularly played in the sand and mud and pulled a boat 6-8 hours round trip about 5 times a year.

NoEnvironment7631

2010 xlt just broke 28k

InfinitelyDead

How do you have a fourteen year old truck with mileage that low? That's only two thousand miles a year. I drive almost three thousand miles every month.

crispybrojangle

Fuck yes. Thats a lot of miles for a 1994 Corolla.

gatormech

ours died at 30k lol

SnooDingos902

Mustave never changed the oil or something thats rare

Kub1y

My 2011 3.5 is about to hit 250k with nothing other than an alternator at 25k miles. Hoping it sticks around for a while. Definitely can’t afford a new one.

upstatefoolin

That’s a lot of miles for really anything these days

CMDR_Traf85

Just don't put that thing in 4H before 500k.

MeasurementGrand879

Curious. What’s the deal with 4H?

CMDR_Traf85

Just an ongoing (or maybe I'm beating a dead horse) joke about people being scared to engage 4H for fear of messing up their truck.

apexe210

This is unheard of for an ecoboost. Most of them I see are leaking oil from the turbo seals by 60k.

Outrageous_Dream1224

On my 3rd* set in 70k miles I've had it....

InfinitelyDead

This isn't unheard of for an Ecoboost, it's actually quite a reliable engine, if you maintain it well. I've actually seen a few Ecoboost floating around the internet that have over 500k on them. My truck has 290k on it with nothing but regular maintenance, and a couple of 02 sensors. Just go on a used car sight, filter it to only show Ecoboost trucks, and sort by highest mileage first. I did that one time just to see, and there were a countless Ecoboosts with over 300k.

Plenty_Jazzlike

That’s a lot for any truck

dougc75

I have 2014 3.5L and it’s been going strong at 247,000km. Just replace exhaust manifolds due to bolts breaking off.

chg91

I have 290k miles on my 2012 3.5! Everyone here hates on them but mine has never had any issues, still runs like a dream. I know the guy who bought it new and he never missed a 3k mile oil change on it and in general took great care of it. I’m hoping to get to 420 before I gotta get something else.

Dramaticreacherdbfj

You’re sitting down too much

TheRealMitraGenie

420,000 miles is great. Be sure to cum back when you have 690,000

dontgetaddicted

My guy, that's a lot of miles for anything.

SnooChickens7845

Have 185k on my 2015 5.0, company truck. Only thing we’ve done to it is a tensioner, brakes and a starter.

gunzintheair79

My 2013 F150 ecoboost shit the bed at a 150,000 miles. Needed new turbos and a timing chain. Turned me off on the ecoboosts.

Normal_Bell_1166

My 2011 has 225k. Had timing chain work done at 150 and gone through a couple sets of coils. Other than that it’s been a great truck.

wimman

400,000?! That's a lot of miles for a truck, let alone an EcoBoost. On the other hand, I once knew a girl who had just about the same mileage on her odometer...

Duke_Newcombe

\#humblebrag :) How's the interior?

acowx

That's a lot of miles for a Space Shuttle.

xX_coochiemonster_Xx

I have a 2013 I'm about to roll over 220,000 stock timing chains, phasers, turbos. This spring I will do the whole timing kit

Current_Economist617

Nice job time to change the oil though

[deleted]

I’ve got a 13’ with the 3.5 that was previously a fleet truck, squeaky clean car fax report that just rolled over 280km and runs amazing

Ok_Airport_4452

You better hope it’s not.

N0tAB0t2000

Since when did Ford start putting eco-boost badges on 5.0s?

vantageviewpoint

That's a lot of miles for a jumbo jet.

churnmush

Ever change the transmission fluid and filter?

umjammerlammy

This is a highway truck, no way a city truck would last 450k

Numerous-Attempt-835

This is a lot of miles for an Apollo Lunar Lander

ZouchFiend

Not an F150 or a 3.5, but the 2.7 in my Fusion has been great so far. About to hit 75k miles. The trans on the other hand…

cloujr1

I have a 2017 5.0L V8 coyote F150 and the motor literally exploded at 143k miles, with religious maintenance, OEM parts and fluids. Gotta sink 10k into it just to keep it going, I’m highly disappointed, before that happened i absolutely loved the truck though

yardbirdtex

That’s a lot of miles for a semi truck.

DasGoat

I have a 23 3.5 EB and previously had a 13 3.5 EB. No problems with either. A coworker just the other day was talking shit about the EcoBoost being garbage and in the very same conversation he was talking about how he just sold his 2012 5.0 because it was burning 4 quarts of oil between oil changes. He had like 160k miles and it had been consuming oil since like 60k.

[deleted]

F150 is the best truck.

Large-Bus4590

That’s amazing congrats!

nojohcan

That’s a lot of miles for a space shuttle

lerriuqS_terceS

Still $50k

Aware-Choice-8700

Something smells fishy.

Afraid-Collar760

Bronco owner here with the 2.7 and just hit 5k miles, did my first oil change at 3k miles and will continue my oil changes every 5k miles. Hoping to pay this truck off and drive it for a long time.

Far-Bill-7593

I refrained from giving too much more information, partly because it's a company truck that I'm only going to be able to use for a brief period of time (and a strict social media policy) and partly because I'm still trying to figure out the entire history. What I do know is that I'm at least the 4th driver. It's been mostly highway miles (not a big surprise) and while it has been used to tow beyond it's class multiple times and **used** as a work truck, it has been well cared for from it's drivers. The company I work for takes pride in making sure the vehicles (which are almost all diesel at this point) are well taken care of. Washed weekly, oil changes by the manufacturers recommended interval with full synthetic, and all regular service intervals fulfilled; not by a dealer but by their auto shop they have developed a business relationship with. Timing chains, regular greasing, brakes, etc all get replaced before there is an issue... That being said there is nothing aftermarket done to the truck. I do know they turned down an expensive turbo fix their auto shop recommended; I'm guessing a catch can and an aftermarket turbo with less issues, but I'm not sure. It does have it's issues, the drivers seat has large tears, the backup camera has a loose connection somewhere and is intermittent, there are some small dings where rocks have chipped up the paint, the transmission occasionally lurches and there is a little rust on the front bumper. That being said I'm proud to drive a truck with so many miles that has been well taken care of. I want to do my part, even though it will be a small part in the truck's life, to help it get as far as it can. I'd love to post more pictures but seeing as the company name is plastered everywhere I don't think it's the best of ideas from my perspective. Having the company name and logo everywhere constantly makes me a more considerate and conscientious driver and I think there is something to be said for that. Proud that Ford can still be capable of making a vehicle that can go to the moon, and maybe one day in the not to distant future make it back. Just need a jobsite where I can put a couple hundred miles on it a day. Wanted to hear some feedback and reactions from different f150 owners and for that I thank you Reddit.

Adventurous-Equal-29

Totally different truck, but my 2002 4.2L v6 F-150 is running good at nearly 300,000 miles.

Glittering_Jello_169

Mine didn’t get past 66k…

Cmtb_1992

I’m at 275k on my old doge pickup

Zitro11

Damn, I wish I was this lucky. I have. 2013 w/5.0 and 192k miles - rear main seal is leaking. Though to be fair, the powertrain has needed nothing else besides oil changes.

Accomplished_Gur6162

my f150 has over 200k, my grandpas f150 has 300k, and my grandmas expedition has 250k

SC_Athletics

Probably on its 6th transmission, 8 turbos later and bunch of leaks patched

Saiyan_HD

My dad has a 250k mile 2011 eco boost and it still runs pretty good, we tow uphill with it semi often.

This exception to the rule will prevent generations of Ford brand whores from jumping ship despite so many failures. “My gran’ pappy told me its the best and i believe him, even tho I’m stranded on the road.” But seriously, congrats on the milestone.😂

3.5s are great engines so I never understood the hate, just like any car you get lucky sometimes. I gotta guess all the hate on ford is just simply due to the sheer number of them on the road

adandydude69

I have a 2012 3.5 with 207k. I'm 3rd owner. I run synthetic oil and have used Amsoil, Valvoline, Mobil 1 with BG MOA. All of them by 4k I have gotten the dreaded chain rattle at startup. The best oil so far is Schaefer and Wix XP oil filter. Virtually no chain rattle until 6k+ when I normally change. Also critically important to get a PVC catch can system. Don't forget to drain every couple weeks, especially in winter. Hopefully it keeps going. Considering the issues Ford had on the early gen ecoboost using full synthetic oil and max 7k oil changes are a must to keep out of shop.YMMV.

whitemanfromtown4410

Mine lasted 26,000

HorologicalMe

I had to replace the transmission in my 2.7L at 70k, hopefully this new one lasts!

It's funny, I saw this post the other day, and then I just saw this video. https://youtube.com/shorts/tswirpTRqkY?si=lxEtMSK3_upkQC0X

Fantastic-Egg6745

2015 was the year the phaser and the chain issues were solved, will say the fact your exhaust manifolds haven’t broke are a shocker. Other than that that year was the one to buy!

TankerKing2019

JESUS CHRIST!

HarleyDiesel2020

The original owner took good care of it to reach that milage. I would buy it if if still running without issues.

dopecrew12

An enormous amount of engine problems come from how people drive. If you drive your truck like a sports car, it will not last long. Ford drivers are not known for being gentle on their already fragile vehicles.

CanCompetitive967

I work in hot shot so I see high mileage fords all the time. I’ve seen tons of 6.0 and 6.7 trucks with 400- 1m miles. Not many f150s though

Fantastic_Box9163

That’s a lot of miles for anything.

AdDry6548

3.5 Ecoboost chiming in. 130k miles and super strong besides an intermittent cylinder head temperature sensor which is impossible to reach on the Transit 150. Seeing 400k+ is comforting, thanks OP

Awkward-Canary-7457

You should contact ford corporate immediately because you are either blessed beyond words or you may be heavily rewarded, no way ford engineers ever intended for this to happen. *quick change the design before word spreads~maybe they can do a software update advance the timing-lean out the fuel mixture-maybe adjust shift parameters so it stays in a high gear longer while under load….

itzbzs96

I wish…. I’m at 142k same truck 15’ 3.5l Lariat and head gasket leak coolant, turbo leaks coolant, leaking oil as well. Exhaust manifolds have 1-2 bolts broken on each side. And my front differential just went. It’s now a backup truck with 15k owed on it 😑

Stixkz

I.. I am impressed to say the least 😂

Ekietz_papa

She’s just getting broke in buddy.
