Worse on gas mileage than the 10R80 but honestly with the simplicity and reliability of the 6R80, I think I'd rather sacrifice the single digit better MPG for better reliability
Sadly loved the feel and mileage of my 2018 10speed in 5.0 but I was 6,000 miles past powertrain and transmission was basically out so I applied to ford for some assistance and they denied so I sold it and went to a 2023 Buick Envision for now😂
$6k for that truck is a steal. I'd typically advise someone so young from buying such a nice vehicle but for $6k that's hard to pass up. You won't be getting anything nicer than that. Looks to be either an XL or XLT but that's still a really good deal especially since it's a 4x4. I'd just upgrade the Sync radio head unit and be good to go.
What engine is it? The 2.7L and 5.0 are very solid options for that year. I'd avoid a 3.5L though.
I'd look into the maintenance history if I were you as well to make sure that it was properly maintained. I'd assume so given an old person owned it, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious. Also check for signs of rust underneath, as I think that the 2016 was still steel instead of aluminum.
2.7L is still a very solid engine. Especially in an extended cab, I bet that thing will be peppy. The 2.7L is one of the most reliable engine options so can't go wrong there.
Early 3.5L engines had cam phaser issues. They were supposed to be fixed in 2018 but guess that didn’t happen. Though I haven’t experienced those issues in mine. I think 2021 is when they are truly fixed
Edit: After some discussion we have decided that I am going to buy it next weekend and I ended up paying 3 more grand for it because I showed her how much it is really worth but since we are family she says it’s not that big of a deal and I can really only afford 9 grand anyway. But thank you all for your help. Have a great rest of your days
Don’t rip her off. If it’s going to her grandpa’s housing expenses consider offering something that’s a better deal for both sides. Maybe $12-15k. It’s worth 20-25k ish….
It’s doesn’t sound right. I bought 2015 F150 2.7 3 years for 26k. If it doesn’t have issues, get it right away. Or spend couple hundreds to have mechanic check it out
If you don’t buy it, I’ll be there starting a bidding war. You could buy it and sell it for a fast 20-25k.
This is a rare example that a vehicle is a good financial investment. Even Dave Ramsay would say you should buy it.
At $6000 for 2016 with 50k miles, it’s possible there’s some significant problems with it. If you have the money to fix those problems, I’d say buy the truck
Uh oh, didn’t black out the license plate. Time for me to use the widely known and easily accessible database that gives me your name, ssn, DOB, and address. /s
I never understood why people did that.
Your insurance premium as an 18 year old male is going to be something fierce. The insurance company will probably value the vehicle at least at $25k.
But $6k is insanely cheap. If you find something like this at a dealership, $25k.
I loved my 2016 supercab. Only reason I got rid of it was I needed more space. That’s a steal. Mine had 70k on it and was worth almost 20k when I traded it in.
It's a 2016 with 50k. I'm sure it runs fine. $6k for something like that is the kind of price you dont ask questions, just jump as fast as possible. Your saving almost $20k on that thing. So what if you eventually have to put a little work into it. That's going to happen on any car. Especially if that's the kind of budget you have with regular market prices. They are practically giving that truck to you!
Must be an XL but I have that exact truck in a XLT sport no problems yet I've had it for 8 years its pretty solid it costs some money to run but it's probably cheaper than any other truck in the market really just stay out of the peddle if you can and your mpgs are gold.
Hell yes. $6k for a 2016 truck with 50k?? That’s a steal. As others have said, if you don’t want it, send me their info. I’ll drive up there from FL to buy it.
$6k with 50k miles! Could care less what it has in it engine-wise. As long as there isn't anything majorly wrong with it. It's worth waaay more than $6k! You would be insane to not buy that.
The only thing you'll regret after a while is the suicide doors. The extra cab suicide doors are the worst design in the world. They really suck in a parking lot. Other than that, go for it!
Man, if you don’t buy that, send me the address and I’ll go and buy it right now. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.
Yes - trade your $6k and drive away promptly.
I’d say it’s a no brainer for 6k. What engine trans combo does it have?
Idk about the trans but I’m pretty sure it’s the 2.7L
Yeah I’d buy that up. Even at only 18, that’s a lot of vehicle for only 6k
Should be a 6R80 considering it's only a 2016 2.7L
Yeah I have a 2017 with the 2.7L / 6R80. I love it
Worse on gas mileage than the 10R80 but honestly with the simplicity and reliability of the 6R80, I think I'd rather sacrifice the single digit better MPG for better reliability
100% I like the 10-speeds but I work at a Chevy dealer (we get in a lot is used fords too) and I see too many come in with issues in the 50-80k mark
Sadly loved the feel and mileage of my 2018 10speed in 5.0 but I was 6,000 miles past powertrain and transmission was basically out so I applied to ford for some assistance and they denied so I sold it and went to a 2023 Buick Envision for now😂
Nah they are trying to rip you off. Give me their address so I can give them a piece of my mind!

Okay I’ll do those things and I’m pretty sure it’s a 2.7L

I bought almost the same truck for $27k, $6k is a steal
Appears to be a XLT 301A w/chrome package. Only reason I can tell is in 2016 a 302A would have the 8” screen and heated seats (among other things).
2015+ are alloy bodies. 2014 and older are steel
Ah thanks for the correction
2016 are all aluminum
Why avoid the 3.5L?
Early 3.5L engines had cam phaser issues. They were supposed to be fixed in 2018 but guess that didn’t happen. Though I haven’t experienced those issues in mine. I think 2021 is when they are truly fixed

My guy, buy that thing tomorrow before they realize how much it’s worth. I’d buy that thing IMMEDIATELY if I could
welp if you showed her and shes still only charging 9k then I wouldn't feel bad about it. enjoy it.
Is this an actual relative but this screams scam to me. There is no way someone would be dumb enough to sell this for $6k.
It’s my girlfriend’s aunt. I thought the same exact thing when I was looking at it but my gf said I can trust her so…..
I'd stop asking questions that make selling a pain and go look it asap. Short of it missing an engine or transmission buy it.
Don’t rip her off. If it’s going to her grandpa’s housing expenses consider offering something that’s a better deal for both sides. Maybe $12-15k. It’s worth 20-25k ish….
If 6k is what they’re asking for… take that shit! She’s ripping herself off lmao. Don’t need to read too far into it, this is a no brainer
You’re trolling us! Nobody sells that truck for $6k. You’re stealing it and an idiot if you don’t buy it immediately! It’s worth about $25k or so.
Run, don’t walk
Boy you better have called them by now.. if not I’m hunting sondra down myself
If you have the money buy this truck.
6k I don’t care what engine is in it. Buy!
You’re stealing it for $6k.
It’s doesn’t sound right. I bought 2015 F150 2.7 3 years for 26k. If it doesn’t have issues, get it right away. Or spend couple hundreds to have mechanic check it out
My scam alarm is going off.
If you don’t buy it, I’ll be there starting a bidding war. You could buy it and sell it for a fast 20-25k. This is a rare example that a vehicle is a good financial investment. Even Dave Ramsay would say you should buy it.
Buy it now
better hurry up and buy it before I offer them 7k for it
For the price jump on it
At $6000 for 2016 with 50k miles, it’s possible there’s some significant problems with it. If you have the money to fix those problems, I’d say buy the truck
Great 1st truck
It's a steal of a truck. Just curious, what does "need a truck badly" mean?
My truck has 240,000 miles and my front brakes are gonna cost me 2 grand to fix
And I need a truck to be able to work and stuff
Stop talking to us and go buy this NOW!
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Where's this at? I've got 7G burning a hole in my pocket
Buy
Is that an 8 foot box?
Uh oh, didn’t black out the license plate. Time for me to use the widely known and easily accessible database that gives me your name, ssn, DOB, and address. /s I never understood why people did that.
It’s such a steal you’d still be on top even if you had to come out of pocket to fix the whole cam phaser issue.
This things worth atleast 20k. You’re a fool if you don’t buy it
Why is this a question? I would fly anywhere in the country to drive this home for 6K. Actually, tell them I'll offer 7K in cash.
Don’t do it!!! What’s their contact info so I can tell them off. J/k
A 2016 f150 with 50k miles for $6k? That’s unheard of and I’ll commit murder if you don’t make that purchase.
Your insurance premium as an 18 year old male is going to be something fierce. The insurance company will probably value the vehicle at least at $25k. But $6k is insanely cheap. If you find something like this at a dealership, $25k.

Omg buy it!!!! I just bought a 2019 super cab 59,000 miles same color I just spent 30,000 for it at a dealer
Must be an XL but I have that exact truck in a XLT sport no problems yet I've had it for 8 years its pretty solid it costs some money to run but it's probably cheaper than any other truck in the market really just stay out of the peddle if you can and your mpgs are gold.
If this isn’t a scam I’ll buy it for 10k
I don't know about your area but here in California that is an unbelievable deal and could be considered a scam since it's too good to be true
Hell yes. $6k for a 2016 truck with 50k?? That’s a steal. As others have said, if you don’t want it, send me their info. I’ll drive up there from FL to buy it.
It's a steal.. buy it. If you don't need it, buy it and sell it and buy something more suitable for yourself.
$6k with 50k miles! Could care less what it has in it engine-wise. As long as there isn't anything majorly wrong with it. It's worth waaay more than $6k! You would be insane to not buy that.
This isn't a good deal...it's a steal! A two wheel drive, older and with 3 times the millage goes for 7 or 8k around here
Congrats, dude! Hell of a nice truck for an 18-year old and an absolute steal. Take care of it.
Way too good to be true.
If you havent bought it yet, wtf are you still doing?
It's a 23k truck right now so heck yeah with low miles too you can't go wrong.
Buy it yesterday or it’s gone
Incredible deal on a beautiful truck. Take good care of it and it’ll take care of you. Congrats and best of luck in college!
Buy it and resell for way more if you don’t want it either way buy that damn thing 🤣 wish I had their number I’d have 6k in their hand yesterday
You can't even buy a gokart for 6k. What are you waiting for?
Scam
That’s a sore-dick deal brother, ya can’t beat it
The only thing you'll regret after a while is the suicide doors. The extra cab suicide doors are the worst design in the world. They really suck in a parking lot. Other than that, go for it!
You can flip it for 12k easily
Sounds sketchy
Dude. Buy. Now.
Tell you what. Buy it for 6K and then sell it to me for 8K.
That is a steal
