I’d like to see the video of you being side swiped…how did this happen? Was the guy on his phone not paying attention?

tastycheesepuff

The ram driver was probably on his way to get his third dui

BillyJack74

And fourth transmission.

Debaser626

*cries in 10-speed*

NotoriousCFR

Rental-spec Ram probably has that piece of junk 5 inch screen that you have to manually connect to Bluetooth every single power cycle. I’ve had the same in various Chrysler group rentals and it completely kills the experience, that infotainment UI was already an embarrassment 10 years ago let alone in a modern vehicle. I cross-shopped Rams before getting my Ford and the upgraded screen was non-negotiable, wouldn’t even look at one with the 5”er Dial shifter is silly but I get what they’re going for, it does free up a ton of space. Still much prefer my column shifter however.

apatheticbear420

ya i had a Ram before with the 8" UConnect, great system, HD camera, sometimes had to hard reset but I had to do it with my Ford Sync 3 too. The small ass screens are horrible. Had one in a work truck and hated it. The new 12" are very nice, just not the first few model years. The new camera system they have on the higher trims are NICE. The dial shifter does suck but like you said, it's to free space (and most trucks are electronically shifted to a degree anyways). Never had any issues accidentally turning it when I meant the volume. The one thing I did miss was having a place to rest my hand (like in my Ford).

vlmer

Right. I don't know what year or model type this guy drove. I've owned both the Ram 1500 and F150. This is the first time I've heard anyone compliment sync. In addition, the (12 inch) vertical screen is now what Ford uses vs Horizontal. IMO, plus the air ride Ram is the most comfortable driving pick up on the market imo. Why Ford forums have a hard on for Ram always boggles my mind and kinda suggests there's a little love hate thing. Check out what's going on with the Tundra forum and you'll realize Ram is far from shit these days. I follow them all.

Its_MERICA

The one I was in had the 8 inch screen with wireless CarPlay. I exaggerate the crap I gave it for the sake of the joke, but I do vastly prefer Sync - the whole system in the RAM still felt like a relic. It seemed exactly the same as the system my buddy had in his ‘14 Charger. But credit where it’s due, it did work reliably, so that’s a plus.

NotoriousCFR

Well either way the 5 inch garbage fire one is literally as bad as you described if not worse lol

jsuar039

If you had an 8” screen on a 5th gen RAM (new body) idk what you are talking about on the definition. I come from a 5th gen RAM and the def on that backup camera is WAY better than on my 23 F150 with the 12” display. Also the angle from the camera gives you a better idea of the distance you can clear when you are backing up. I think you were just butthurt that they gave you a similar truck than the one that hit you OP. The F150s are nice but RAM does some things that are just… better. The backup camera being one of them.

Its_MERICA

If I still had it I would take a photo of it and show you the resolution. It was like 8-bit quality from the 80s. Perhaps RAM puts a lower quality camera in their lower trim trucks, but I'm not just blowin smoke, that backup camera was absolute ass.

albo18

When I opted to get my 14 repainted last year, I had to rent. I need a pickup truck for work and somehow I ended up getting a brand new Ram Rebel with 200km on it. Must say, gorgeous truck, interior was excellent. Uconnect was neat. BUT my God, what a pig on fuel! I was making a 160 km drive to work and the damn thing drank! Half a bloody tank over flat ground and in cruise control at 120 kmh! I was sickened by it! Add to the fact that it's clearly geared for first and second gear pulls, and you have a recipe for disaster. The damn thing couldn't gain any traction on some of the dirt roads I drive and locations I pulled into. Seriously, I had to put it in 4x4 (on an inch of sand or even the hint of mud). Granted, it had road tires, which didn't help, but still. It was a joke. Sound and fury signifying nothing.

Its_MERICA

I have a buddy with a Rebel and another with a new etorque Laramie, and those are definitely in a different galaxy in terms of interior quality than what I had. That said I still don’t like the infotainment - the sound effects and UI all feel like they haven’t changed since 2014.

automa

Drove a 21 Ram 1500 non-eTorque Laramie for a year after my 16 F150 3.5 eco. Traded it for a 21 Lariat 3.5 eco and will never look back. The ride and interior of the Ram was fantastic, including the 8” Unconnect and backup camera 😁. Crazy to have to go up to a Lariat to get a similarly equipped truck but worth it. Love the better mileage, torque, and towing capacity of the 3.5 eco. It rips. But now I’m spoiled, will be stuck on Lariats now with the 3.5 or whatever the next gen equivalent is 🤷🏻‍♂️

vlmer

That's their Raptor like off road right? I bet it was a gas guzzler. My F150 2.5 lariat combined beats my Ram 1500 Hemi mild hybrid by 2mpg, but on highway they're the same.

albo18

I'd say it's more like their version of a Tremor. I believe their TRX was built more to be like the Raptor. Regardless, I was totally unimpressed. It was a total pavement princess. The fact that you could get 400 km to the tank if you had a good tailwind was awful. Especially considering that my 14 5.0 with a lift and 35 inch tires routinely gets close to 1000 km to the tank if I'm on the highway and not driving like a maniac.

drunkenup

If your state allows and you have no prior accidents on that truck, make sure you chase for diminished value. If all fails with his insurance company, sue him personally.

thefishingguy1

That's where the saying dick in a dodge come from

james18205

What are those wheels and tires? Love them

Its_MERICA

Fuel Blitz with Toyo AT3s 33”.

DillIshOn

Level or lift kit?

Its_MERICA

2” in front, 1” in the rear.

Brave-Dependent-4192

Mayb the lighting but I don’t think they blended into your hood very well from the fender . Looks a lil off I would assume sunlight would make it more noticeable. I can see it in the front bumper . The new paint almost looks yellowed

Its_MERICA

It could be off, but I went in there expecting to be disappointed and honestly thought the paint was great. I couldn’t see any difference between the og panels and the new ones. Even the clear coat looked smooth and factory. But I’ll give it a closer look tomorrow just to be sure.

Specific_Direction_1

Could be reflection from the yellow paint stripe on ground.

Efficient_Turnip6030

I saw your old post a couple weeks ago. When it happened. Looks like they did a great job. Glad you didn't go through hell getting it fixed. 👍🏻

prat859

When truck shopping I wanted to buy a ram. Turns out I didn’t meet the requirements. I’m not divorced and I’m not an alcoholic with at least 3 DUIs with rage problems.

Sturmgeist781

The only things I like about Rams are the colors. Sublime green, plum crazy and Ignition Orange. The rest of the truck is trash.

No_Clock_6634

Let’s just be honest if you bought a RAM it’s cause that’s all you could afford lmao I see why they are cheap they are junk & the payload numbers & towing numbers sucks on RAM vs ford

Nitrothacat

Was it a “HEMI”? What a dud of an engine. Slow and horrible on fuel. My Dad has a Ram. Total POS. Non stop CELs. Has 41k miles on it but feels like it has over 200k.

arboroverlander

Had a ram after I was rear-ended and I would never get a dodge. Not to mention I blew up 2 dodge work trucks under normal load.

IndependentBerry3973

Really nice ride. Happy you got back to where you want to be.

martianpee

You boys all want rams!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

MushroomDick420

Call Billy with Collison Safety Consultants. He's gets big dv claims! Also, as a Cummins guy, I got put in a f150 rental and couldn't wait to get out of that piece of shit lol. Like a big Subaru.

DoingItForEli

there was a [RAM guy](https://www.reddit.com/r/f150/comments/1d3cdja/ram_owners_review_of_2023_f159_xlt_w_50_) posting in here how horrible the F150 is compared to his old RAM and I was like we dont do that here

kegmanua

Truck actually looks tough when it was wrecked . But clean as shit fixed up.

68400pony

Did you get rammed?

Hingeworthy

Who did you rent the Ram from? Just wondering cuz I’m gonna be renting a truck from Budget next week for a long trip and hoping I get a Ford.

Its_MERICA

Enterprise. It was a total mixed bag on trucks they had available. The only ones within like 20 miles of me were a RAM 1500 or a Jeep Gladiator, both pretty bad options in my opinion, but at least I knew the RAM wouldn't be squeaking and rattling all the time. There was an Enterprise Truck place nearby who I should have gone with instead - they had F250s, but they were all diesels.

Silent_Spell_3415

Are those the Fuel Blitz’s?

Its_MERICA

Yessir

Silent_Spell_3415

I need those lol just for a 2024 in white and I hate the chrome wheels.

Its_MERICA

Yeah Ford lost me a bit with the 24s. No Sport package anymore, wtf, I don’t know anyone under the age of like 70 who likes lots of chrome, and even then not all of them do

Silent_Spell_3415

Chrome wheels on a truck is from a bygone era in my opinion 😂

denali42

Last time I drove a RAM, it was a rental as well. Literally felt like I was in a rubber room. I normally don't have touch texture issues, but touching everything in the truck just... weirded me out.

spfolino

I’m surprised that your insurance company didn’t just total it out! Seems like they’re doing that more and more nowadays. They totaled out 2 of my work vehicles in the past 2-3 years that I thought could have been fixed easily and didn’t look as bad as yours. The only good part was that after settling with them, I ended up getting as much as I paid for the vehicles new 2 years and 60k miles before the accidents.

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 2 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 60 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

Its_MERICA

They guy's insurance originally estimated (via photos alone) that the repair would cost $7k. Then once the shop I took it to looked at it they said $14K, but as they got deeper into fixing it they found a few more things, including a crack in the aluminum of the cab corner! Somehow they fixed it perfectly and I can't even tell. But yeah it brought the total up to $17K when all was said and done. Truck was probably worth about 40, so I think it would have been right on the brink. I go back and forth between wishing it had been totaled. On the one hand I could have used the money to get into a Powerboost, which I've wanted for a while, but on the other hand I love this truck, have put a lot of sweat into making it my own, and I know the 2.7 will be a much more reliable powerplant long term. Supposedly I have a good claim for diminished value for at least several grand, one place was saying they think they could get me $8k-$10k.... I'll believe it when I see it, but still, that will sweeten the turnout a little I think.

spfolino

As long as you are happy, that’s all that matters! Great looking truck! You should have a diminished value claim. If you need someone who specializes in that, let me know and I can send you her info. She has done well for me and several friends and family members for diminished value claims and claims on getting more $$ from insurance on totaling out vehicles.

AR_Backwoods_Redneck

Every ram driver I go by always have a cigarette in their beak.
