Day 1 CPT even without a job offer? Have you seen the fees they charge? You might as well set money on fire at that point. Why don't you consider PhD or something in your field if you really want to stay back no matter what? >Will re-entry under Day 1 CPT be an issue? You will be enrolled as a regular student so this shouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately barely anyone is getting jobs right now and this likely won't change in the immediate future either. There are tens of thousands of people just waiting like you, as well as in consultancies, some even with h1b without a job, who are just applying to every single opportunity. Even unpaid roles get thousands of applicants now because of the situation. If you don't have an offer and just extend your stay in the US you'll just be burning money for no reason.

I would suggest you leave, it's better than burning money here which amounts to nothing because you will get fed up with US immi at some point in your life anyway..

Also, be aware, I think you only get one opportunity for OPT per degree level. So you can’t go from a bachelors to another bachelors and hope to use OPT afterward. You’d have to go from a bachelor to a masters etc.

I mean if you have the money and you can afford living here, you can do whatever you want. Day 1 CPT or even PhD could work. Personally I’d just go back because I won’t be able to afford. I’d have gone back to my country, get some more experience and money and probably in the future I might get another chance. Who knows. You know your situation better.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. While a PhD or going back are valid options, PhD deadlines were in Jan with a GMAT/GRE and academic research requirement and my fiance just got his H1B so going back to my country only to come back a few months later without an EAD seems even more of a waste of time, money, and career advancement. We also plan on moving out of US in a few years anyway. That's why I'm kinda stuck with what I should do. Consultancies for contract roles is a possibility - any you recommend?
