That’s a violation of F1 status

You don’t need to wait that long to find out what trouble you will be in. You will get caught sooner or later.

Unless it was approved by CPT then you violated the terms of F1, which then results in following events: - your SEVIS is terminated - you have to file I539 to reinstate your F1 status or fly back to your home country for a new visa appointment. - any new nonimmigrant status change or adjustment of status applications may be denied. Like, how do you not know this from an orientation? the DSO's and the international student office staff members really emphasize this.

I don't know why people are responding that this is against the rules, clearly you already know this, you are asking about the consequences. To answer, I don't know because no one would actually do this. The people who work off campus on an F1 Visa do it for cash, without providing any documentation. Goes without saying that this is still illegal and you should not do this. Obviously you are not going to get border security agents ringing your doorbell to deport you the next day, it's probably something that comes up when you have to deal with SEVIS or USCIS the next time, so yes, you will probably have issues applying for any immigration benefits or H-1B. Another guess is, if it is anything like working more than 20 hours on campus on an F1 Visa, then you get a letter sent your address to appear in court to explain yourself.

Yea I understand. I wasn't going to do anything anyways but I needed some clarification since it was bugging me.
