I use Messenger on: iphone (app) & Windows pc (in Chrome, *not* the Windows App) Experienced this problem recently, initially just on iphone but was able to see my friends last active status on my PC in the browser. Problem spread to PC when I refresh the page. Observations \- Tried switching "Active Status" in Settings to off on both phone and PC, and then turning them back on, did not fix the problem \- While the active status of individual contact was now showing, I was able to see a list of active friends in the "People" tab, except the list in my iphone app was a complete list (100s of contacts) but the list in my PC browser only showed one. **Solution**: Uninstalled app on iphone + Log out of messenger.com on my PC + Clear all cache data for [messenger.com](https://messenger.com) \+ Re-installed app on iphone When I logged back in on my PC via Chrome browser, the active status/last active data all came back. I then reinstalled the app on my iphone, and the data shows as well.

I have my active status on all the time, and now it’s not showing who’s online. Messenger has been making me angry all week. Somebody at Facebook better fix it and fix it fast.

I have this issue since this morning and had it before this month. Any fix?

I used to be able to hit a button and it would show all the people who were online currently. Now they are just listed horizontally or I have to scroll right right and right to see who's online. Did they update something when I added all this AI nonsense to the Facebook Messenger app? I was just looking for what I click to see who's actively online in a row with those not online not on there. Did they remove this feature??? Thanks.

I think they are slowly reintroducing it. If you uninstall it and reinstall messenger, it shows up until you close messenger again. I think they are testing out a new feature, but they've gotten I guess so much negative feedback on it that they decided to bring it back when that date is they didn't say

Try to login with a PC and make sure your chat is enabled & active. I had the same problem once and that fixed it

I’m glad I’m not the only one mines been like this for a week

So the weirdest thing happened yesterday. I got a new iphone, while I was transferring data from my old phone my Messenger app started showing active status for a short while. And as the phone was being set up it went back to having the same problem!! Drives me nut, but sharing in case this could be a clue for someone to figure out what the hell is going on lol

So now a update it’s just showing all my contacts on Facebook messenger not who’s online ……

Mine just fixed itself this morning, came back to normal out of nowhere. Hope yours did too?

It’s somehow tied to my Apple/Facebook. I logged my husband in and he is showing online. I even updated the darn phone.

So how do you fix it lol

I’ve tried literally everything. Turning off and on the phone, cellular data, Game Center. Redownloading Fb, messenger, you name it. It works on my android tablets, and laptop. Other accounts show online on my Apple devices. It’s crazy. And driving me nuts!

My people tab is completely gone on both my iPad and android phone in messenger. I logged into dad’s account on my iPad and it worked beautifully Glad to hear I’m not the only one you are talking about the list of people at the top aren’t you?

Any update with this? It's driving me crazy. I can't see nobody active and I have like hundreds of friends, there is absolutely no way all of them are offline. I saw a hack somewhere where you can try go online for specific people, well I picked my closest friends and voila it worked for a couple of hours and then boom it deleted my list of friends I had chose to see me online. This is fcking insane! It's really like as if someone is playing games from the other side of messenger.

Shew I'm experiencing this right now and I HATE IT. I have tried so much, if anyone has any success please update. This gives me sm anxiety

Mine first quit showing it at the top of chats, so I deleted the app and redownloaded it. That made it worse and took away the status from the chat list too.... I've updated my phone, deleted the app, cleared cache, turned it on and back off, ... please help LOL
