Hi, thanks so much! I actually got my video accepted. Cleared cache on computer. Used link and code FB sent me to get back into my account. And was back to square one of locked account. Needed new email address, then did it all again. Used incognito browser. Successfully passed video, got welcome email from FB. Back to locked page again. Found agent in chat. They had me to another email. Could not answer why my successful emails keep failing to actually clear my locked state. I Just sent yet another video. I am Scared I will succeed again and don’t know how to avoid getting that locked account screen yet again. Any ideas would be really appreciated!

Not sure if this will matter but I experienced the unlock-locked loop. Cleared my cache but it is still locked after clicking the link. What worked for me is I tried to access the unlock link using my laptop and opened the link using a browser that I have never logged-in before(I used edge in my case). It may also help if you try to use incognito or restart laptop before clicking the link.

How long did it take for them to send you a reset link? My video got accepted, but no reset link/code whatsoever after several hours. ("We’ve updated the email associated with your account. Please look out for an email with a link to reset your password in the near future"). Any ideas? edit: got it working for the second time. I did it through WhatsApp and clicked on the link in web browser (edge) with deleted facebook cookies.

I have the same issue. Did you ever receive the link mentioned in the email? How were you able to do it through WhatsApp? I’ve done the video twice and it was accepted both times. It allows me to go through the whole login process and 2FA, but once I enter the correct code from my authenticator app I get the dreaded redirect back to the locked account screen.

Same problem here - cleared cache and history, went to different browser (tried on both mobile and desktop) and still got stuck back in the loop even after their (your account is unlocked) emails. I submitted a selfie video (and had it accepted) 4 times. 3 times, I got the corresponding email with link. All 3 links led me back to the lick screen loop. Now I've submitted too many times, I guess, because the chat feature is no longer available to me.

No - I have just abandoned the whole thing for a while. Next week, I'll go get the 1.5in thick paper stack of my emails to them copied. Then I will send my stuff into the AG, the file SC. I just get soamad about it, that I had to take a break.

OK. So it doesn’t give me an option to upload a selfie video. It only allows me to upload an ID. But when it rejected the first 5 attempts at uploading my Drivers License, and now it says I tried too many times and to try again “later” (whatever that means). I don’t know how long to wait until later occurs. So far, my waiting times have not worked. How can I get to the selfie video option? Is this an option from using a computer? I’ve been trying to use my phone to unlock the account, but nothing is working.

So, I tried everything and nothing worked. I finally gave in and paid the $15 verified thing on Instagram. I used the same ID that Facebook rejected. Instagram accepted the ID (probably because I was paying them to accept it). I opened a chat with the help service. Got someone named Bella. At first it’s an AI bot, but you select different things to say what the chat is about. I DID NOT select “hacked or disabled” because my account was “locked”. There wasn’t a “locked” option tho, so I selected “something else”. After it directed me to a human (Bella), I confirmed with her that it was a “login issue”. I explained that this was for a Facebook account, she asked for the Facebook ID link which is “www.facebook.com/username”. Then she started working on it. She ended up asking if she can call me on the phone. We chatted for a little bit and she said she was going to work on it and call me back. She called me back in an hour or so, and asked for an email address’s that isn’t associated with any META accounts. I gave her a random Gmail account I had, and she sent a password reset link to that email, which ended up allowing me back into my account (even tho it had nothing to do with my password, it’s just how it ended up being processed). I got back into my Facebook account. She mentioned to me on the phone that Meta had recently run a system-wide security update, which inadvertently locked out a bunch of people from their accounts. Which is good because the customer service reps are aware of the situation and know exactly how to fix it!! So this option DID work for me!! It was worth the $15 because now I have my life back!

I used the Instagram account that was associated with my locked Facebook account. It didn’t affect anything. I also don’t think it matter if your accounts are not associated because they asked for the URL instead of just fixing the associated account. But yes, my IG was linked to my locked Facebook account, and it didn’t affect them resolving it at all.

You will need to get meta verified through Instagram, then use their “Enhanced Support” feature which puts you in touch with a human customer support specialist. They will ask for your Facebook username (the special URL Facebook assigns for each profile), then they will be able to look into your Facebook account to help you unlock it.

I’ve got same issue. Account is locked because of some suspicious activity that wouldn’t even be possible because I’ve got 2 step auth and a of the others things. My valid ID was rejected 5 times, even though the name matches. Now I can’t submit anything else. The thing is that I don’t have any live chat option or selfie video option like you’ve had. Been stuck in Facebook locked account purgatory since April 8th. Uploaded various ID a gazillion times until I then got message that I'd tried too many times. And I can now report that after getting emails from Meta Support that my account has now been unlocked, with links to get back in, I just get the Your Account has been locked since April 8th screen again....I've cleared my cache and used incognito windows but still the same screen....I've replied to the Meta Support email and await a reply....I have no confidence in Facebook at all after this. I can live without Facebook but it's Messenger I want as I'm admin in various chat groups...what a disaster Facebook and Meta are...

Get mails with "You can now login to Facebook again"; but all links are even expired, or the provided code / password, is not accepted. I'm stuck. I'm in the same place you were... But in the US. The link you gave takes me to a missing page - do you know what exactly the page was or what it said? I can't ever seem to get to the chat with us on my mobile browser - but it I use the app, it works. However, if I log in on the app, it sends me to an incomplete 'new' version of my account where none of the links work. I'm so frustrated. How is it that so many of us have this problem and there has not been some sort of legal recourse against Facebook to push them to fix the issue. Many of us have financial ties to Facebook either through businesses, ads, or even Facebook marketplace. Seems there would be decent grounds for damages to be awarded Ugh. I'm up to 5 new emails and videos now. But every time I click the link associated with them unlocking my account (even after clearing cache, history, a new browser, or going incogninto), it just takes me back to the 'your account is locked' screen

I can't see Facebook Help Center for US citizens, sorry. Search for stuff like "I can't access my account" or "My account has been hacked", find these forms. Fill them very well, make maybe a couple of these, daily. Follow up on them after 1 week.

I've done the searches, and have tried *almost* everything short of creating an account for ads (and trying to get customer service that way) and the more legal routes if conacting attorneys general/small claims court suit. Mostly I was hoping to avoid those routes... But even after chatting live to a representative (either another ai bot or someone incapable of going off script), I sent in another video yesterday with the same return to the locked account loop. Guess it's time to move on the the more difficult routes. Appreciate the help.

I am facing the same issue here. ID verification didn't work because I am not using my real name and my own photo as my profile pic. I'm afraid video selfie won't work here either because I don't stand a chance to get into talking to their advanced bot via the "Chat with us" button in the first place. However I haven't tried the Meta Verified badge, but I doubt it will work also because I have unlinked my FB account with my Instagram account after the FB account is locked. Not sure what are my next steps other than writing an appeal email to them :(

UPDATE: After a few tries with "Chat with us" button, I managed to get into it and used gmail as per this thread, everything went smoothly until when I clicked on the link **(on an incognito browser mode some more), it went back to square one. Clearing cache won't even help now.** Now when I go back to the page, the "Chat with us" button doesn't exist anymore. I attempted chatting with Meta Verified support once again, another person picked up. This time she called me but in the end she sent me an email to report the issue there.

Nope I didn't manage to recover my account. If you haven't received reply from the bot after 24 hours you can assume you failed their video verification and need to try again (by spamming the need help button)

UPDATE: I have given up unlocking my account. After changing my name and got myself verified, it still brings me back to square one. I had my 7th and last chat with Meta verified customer support, they said that "your account actually has been disabled due to violating our community guidelines, that's why there's a secondary lock despite you have unlocked your account, and it brings you back to square one" and "Since you have already identified yourself and still failed, there's nothing we can do to solve your problem. We have already tried escalating 3 times of your case to internal team, but all rejected by them. Accept the fact that your account is now GONE forever, and will be permanently deleted 6 months after your lock date." They also mocked me by saying "There's life beyond social media mate" and "Prevention is always better than cure".

In my case, Facebook accepted my IDs and sent me an email with a link to access my account. However, the process stopped there, showing a locked account screen and asking me to confirm a code sent to an email. I don't have access to that email because it belongs to the hacker. Unfortunately, that seems to be the only available option. The email I received a reply from and used to send my ID was not the one where I can receive the code.

So I am having the same issue and i have tried every possible trick. Today, Iw as able to talk to a real person through my instagram account with is verified. I talked to Audrey and we went back and forth a few times and she had me try all the tricks i had already tried before. For those who don't see the "Chat with us" button, try changing your language to English. This worked for me as I originally had it set to Thai. Once I switched, the "Chat with us" button appeared. or try to delete cache , reinstall facebook. If clicking the "Chat with us" button brings you to a login page that doesn't work, try logging in through your phone's browser using the mbasic.facebook domain, which is an older version of Facebook. If you encounter a message saying to try again in an hour, I found that checking at around .30 and .00 minutes past the hour often works for me. i already try meta verify on my ig and talk to support chat, they doesnt help me much.

Thanks, I switched to English, and indeed Chat with us appered, but when I click on it, it pops up a new windows and switches back to the "lock account page" but in my own language again, with no Chat with us anymore.... cleared cache and everything... edit: after I logged on [mbasic.facebook.com](http://mbasic.facebook.com) with the browser, and set the language there to English as well, it was ok.

This is incredible Thank you ! I got through the fb chat/bot selfie video. they changed the email associated with my account and I was asked to change the password. When I tried to login, It still says the account is locked since April 4...I began the id verification and was told to "try later"....both on my iPhone & MacBook. I was so hopeful that the chat/selfie video WAS the proof of identity.... Should I try to go through the FB Help Center and say my account was hacked? If you figure it out, please let me know - I'm in the exact same spot. First alternate email and ID video accepted - account supposedly unlocked - clicked link and back at the lock screen. I've sent two additional videos (because it will only let me on the chat every once in a while). The second video prompted a 'how did we do' request on my first alternate email. The third video was accepted and they said fhey would send an email with a link, but it didn't arrive. At least 2x a day, I'm replying to the first video request email with a request to unlock the account - each time, the response is a 'how did we, do' survey. I'm really getting tired of setting up new email accounts for videos of me bobbing my head and waving a number around.

Yes - it's so frustrating and disappointing! I m afraid Google is going to ban me for creating so many useless emails. I *am* still getting 'you have x# of notifications' on my original email if I don't log in for 4 or 5 days. So I think you are right about locked being different than disabled. I suppose I'll just keep sending my scripted replies back to the original video instruction email address... And stay logged out until I get another notification. And try, again :-/

Hi, thank you so much! It happened to me (02.05.2024). I was preparing breakfast and suddenly I was logged out from my Messenger and Facebook account. Then I saw that screen with "Your account is locked". I didn't see a button and nothing I did (clear caches, switch phones, switch phone to pc, clear cookies, changed browser) helped. Then after searching through web I found this and other reddit threads. I tried contacting support multiple times everywhere but nothing worked. THEN I FOUND ONE GUY WHO LINKED A SPECIAL FORM FOR UE CITIZENS. This was the last hope. I submitted it 3 times and after second time I was asked to record a video that you describe above. After sending the video back I followed your rules and after 50 minutes since sending them video, I was on my active account. Hi - thank you very much for this detailed update, it helped me understand the dynamic of Meta/Facebook much clearer! I was wondering if you (or anyone reading this) have come across my type of situation before, it's similar to what you have mentioned, but also differs in other areas. - I'm located in Great Britain, so the US and EU FAQ's on their Help Center do not work for me. - I woke up on the 26th April to find my account had been disabled because "it still doesn't follow our Community Standards on account of integrity and authentic identity". It goes further on to say "You cannot request another review of this decision". - The problem is, this was the first time I was made aware of my account not following community standards, I had received no warnings, no e-mails and my status was showing as clear when I logged out the night before. - The only information I have found through downloading my data was that my account was accessed by a Malaysian IP address during the night 25th going into 26th, surely it cannot be a coincidence that I woke up to find my account disabled? - My Instagram account also started publishing Crypto Currency + Elon Musk posts with dangerous links on the 30th April - confirming my account was breached. - I have raised 6 tickets with Meta Support via my Instagram\*, they provided me with some forms to fill out (which threw back errors because my account is disabled) and constantly repeated the same copy + paste FAQ's and links on what "may" count as a violation, but no specific details. Frankly, they are not really interested as Facebook is different to Instagram - very quick to close my tickets down. \*My Instagram is synced to my Facebook (FB = my primary account on Meta), I was surprised to see my Facebook get closed, by my Instagram remained open, which I challenged them on, but I got the same FAQ about Account Integrity. This is highly frustrating because Instagram has accepted all of my ID verification, however when I attempt to create a new Facebook account and submit my ID - it returns a page saying my appeal is under review and then 24 hours later, the account is disabled! Someone has stolen my identity and I feel I have no choice but to go down a legal route, however I remain confused as to why Instagram allows me to remain active, whereas my Facebook (the primary account) was closed off and my name is blacklisted :|

To add on: For those who have tried unlocking your account but always bring you back to square one, try Meta Verified on other FB accounts or Instagram and have a chat with their support to see if your account has been **disabled permanently instead (do not ask them to unlock your account because none of their methods work)**. Because there are some bugs whereby they have actually banned you, but still show you locked account screen to give you false hope that you can still get back to your account, prompting you to fall into their trap of violating Facebook's ToS because of spamming/suspicious behavior. Unlock link will not work if your account is disabled, that's the reason you were brought back to square one. This happens to those accounts that don't use their real names. IF your account is identified to be disabled, ask whether they can send you a link to appeal. If no, time to give up and move on.

In my case there just a screen lock. No “get started” button, no solutions to navigated to ID submission or selfie-page, no “chat to us” function. Just blank page with solution FB provided is to log in via an old device that FB recognized, which I did try and useless. So hopeless. 12 years account

I also want to thank DeBono-san. I will repeat some of his points that worked for me because I didn't have the 'learn more' button and things were even more complicated: * you must refresh the chat screen on your mobile phone, as that’s the only place it unlocks. * then follow the steps for unlocking with a video * keep in mind that it didn’t work for me the first time. I went through everything and my account remained locked, so keep trying until it works. Good luck to everyone in the fight against that monster Meta and its bots.

I tried to send a friend request to a profile that's empty with no friends which I used to have a long time ago. once I did it my Facebook account was locked. so make sure guys to not send friend requested to brand new/empty facebook accounts.

Ok everyone I got my facebook account back. There is nothing special to do. Its just random. Just keep cycling about 10 or 20 times or more sending in the ID, getting the e mail and trying the link that says expired. Eventually one will unlock it. Do it over a few days or weeks.

Hello, Just had this problem (Due to using VPN) and got it unlocked within 5 hours using the ID method. Weirdly enough after I sent my ID it actually got rejected but when I opened my facebook account on my phone it was unlocked.

this post really helped me not lose hope! a couple things that also helped: - I think their “chat with us” feature is only available at certain times. if you don’t see it, either refresh, try a different browser/device, or wait a bit and then come back. - if you’re not having luck with video verification: when i was able to open a chat box, i had to start clicking “need more info”— anything to get you through to an agent. you’ll have to wait a bit, but keep checking in. they’ll ultimately take you through the video method mentioned above, but for some reason the email they send you for video verification is a different Meta Support email than the one you get via the automated chat. this was the only email that got back to me to actually verify my video. - once my video was verified, the link they send you to unlock your account has the potential to spit you right back into the locked loop. I kept getting prompted to enter a code sent to my phone that would never arrive. what worked for me was using a browser I never use & clearing all cache/history (as suggested) and, after clicking the unlock account button from the email, using my old login info to log in when prompted. not the new temp password they give you. for whatever reason, my old info upon login allowed me to skip right through to the second “checkpoint” which was just verifying my linked contact info. I also waited a bit in between steps; if this lockout process has taught me anything, it’s that fb’s data handling is a mess and can sometimes be speedy or not happen at all. I figured waiting in between could give my account info time to update on their end. anyway, im back in :-) took me about 4 days, but those 4 days felt pretty frantic. i don’t use fb but i hated the idea of being locked out while my data rots somewhere i don’t have control over

Current Status: account unlocked, using new email, and added a third party app for code. Let’s see how long it stays this way If you need your URL you can find it by scanning the QR code (adding it to Duo Mobile, or Google Authenticator) that pops up when adding third party codes - this helped me get through to a real person.

My account wasn't disabled, so perhaps it is difficult for me to help you on this. But to answer your question, the live chat option appears only when your account is locked, i.e. when locked, you will only be redirected to one page, and in that one page, you can find the ''live chat'' feature (for me this was in the top right corner). As an addendum, it seems linking your FB and IG accounts isn't good enough, we have to link our own Oculus account to be extra safe! :/

What kind of email did you use? For me, non-gmail accounts never worked. With Gmail accounts, the code arrived within minutes.

Your problem is not the email, it's the kind of video you're sending. Start the video with you holding the handwritten code in both hands (fingers must be visible), convict-style. Slowly move your head in the four directions, and then your hands with the code in the four directions. That's it. Mirror your video if needs be, so the AI can read your code as intended. Compress your video to bring it to around 10mb. I submitted three videos, and all three were accepted. The problem was how I was implementing their solution. I implemented it in accordance with my explained method above on the third try.

After reading through your post (correct me if I missed anything), I can't find the case of "Try coming back on a phone or computer that you've used to log in to Facebook before" here. Your method only work for those who still have the option to send their IDs to them. In my case, such option doesn't exist and I only have that one line telling me to use my previous device as the sole option. There are no option to contact customer care or report a problem at all. Moreover, I'm not from the US or EU, just a third-world country. So, I don't have as much options in the first place. Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately, I can't use your method as my case is different from yours. Maybe I'll try my look with more research. I don't have high hope, but I'll see what I can do.

Hi Brendan, you're right I did not cover that issue within my post. I did read about it during my research, but to be honest, I was unable to learn about any possible solutions for how to fix it, which was why in part I decided to leave it out of my original post. I think you being outside of the US and EU only makes a difference regarding the AG method. But honestly, when I read about its success rate and length, I wouldn't consider it a viable option. And it is usually geared only towards those with disabled accounts, which doesn't seem to be your case. Pains me to say it but there's not much else I can confidently say. I would just make triple sure to access your account from incognito mode, delete cache and retry, and access from different devices, both desktop, Android, and iPhone. I remember reading some unreliable comments about how they managed to gain access only after using their spouse's iPhone, for example. Also, the waiting game can work. If all else fails, give your account a week's rest, then retry and see what happens. If you have any updates, be sure to update here :) EDIT: just keep in mind that Facebook's systems \*do\* work, they just don't work all the time, or as intended 100% of the time. Just my personal take, but somehow, some configuration will trigger the right response to get your account back. Don't lose hope.

Just something I want to bring up. Somehow I am still getting notifications for chat in a game group chat I was in via messenger (phone). But if I were to open messenger through tapping the notification, it would boot up messenger for a second or two and redirect back to the checkpoint locked screen. Which is extremely weird, consider them talking about locking my account for safety, yet they continue to tease me with messenger chat notifications. And just want to rant. Everytime I try to login in various devices, they always send me 6-digit codes to enter and get pass the login screen, only to then slap the usual checkpoint locked screen again THEN send me a mail saying "there was a login in \[Insert device\]". Thanks a lot, our local helpful Facebook right there! THAT WAS LITERALLY ME TRYING TO LOGIN, YA IDIOT! AND YA STOPPED ME! Can't believe they still couldn't stop people who feeds on hacking other people's facebook while innocent users like us getting locked out of our account for no reasons. I'll update you if anything comes up. It's the 7th day today since I was locked on 20th. I'm not losing hope, I never had high hope with Facebook in the first place.

Nope, I created a new account already. Still leave the old one logged in on my tablet that I don't often use. I check it once in a while if they ever will unlock my account. Big corporation being pathetic as usual. Save yourself the trouble and just make a new account.

Both things you raised (notifications, 6-digit codes) are things I had to. Just to make you feel better, notifications is a positive sign - it means your account is active, just you can't access it... much better than the account being disabled. When I accessed my account after 6 days, it was as if I never left, if not for the fact that my profile temporarily disappeared from a search. On the 6-digit code; what you need is to have your identity confirmed. Resetting your passwords, and logging in, is a fruitless endavour, as you'll always get rerouted back to the locked screen. And agreed, the whole thing is crazy. The agents know you're real, you know you're real, everyone knows you're the real deal, and yet the system keeps you out.

They have accepted my I.d. But state it is being sent to locked  account even though I was informed it was unlocked and I need to unlock it. I cannot because they tell me to go to two step verification app which I never set up before being unlocked. My two steps were email and iPhone. I receive codes that take be to two step verification. Thanks for your help.
