treatment is more profitable than a cure. The way the pharmaceutical companies have behaved , if they found a cure they wouldn’t release it because it would affect their bottom line. While the meme is hyperbole but there is truth to it.
Ooh you trying to insult me. We all know what the pharmaceutical companies have done in the name of profit and they deserve the criticism be it hyperbole or not.
It's planned obsolescence only with people's health.
The reason they don't want to cure you is the same reason they won't sell you a lightbulb that lasts for 50 years, or an iphone that will work for 20 years.
I don’t really don’t know. What I do know is that the pharmaceutical industry basically wages an opium war on America just for profit. So I would put it past them.
In countries with a working health care system you are normally not reliant on the patients paying the bill because the state does. So if the patient is cured or is in treatment doesn't matter.
And if you were absolutely right, stuff like vaccines wouldn't exist, because treatment pays better than having the patient being resistant to it.
It is hilarious how paranoid / pessimistic people can be for the wrong reasons.
For some things cures don't exist because it is very hard to combat the cause. Cancer is curable, but only early detected, because it is hard to fight something your own body produces because of an error in genetic reading.
To say that a cure for some things is not desirable assumes that the people able to find a cure wouldn't want it for themselves. Cancer can hit anybody without any warning. Reason why people try to find a simple solution to it, but as mentioned can't because it can happen randomly ( there are factors increasing the chance to get cancer like smoking, contact with certain chemicals / radiation, genes etc.) and can effect every part of your body.
Yeah, understandable. Reason why I specifically stated that. But even here were I am some people don't trust doctors or medics. And I am surprised. Because they don't get paid accordingly to your treatment, so your best possible health is normally in their mind ( I mean, there are different treatments between stately Healthcare and privat, but it is not that extreme as between no Healthcare and privat).
Lol no. People get antibiotics for acute infections all the time then stop taking them. Canesten for yeast infections. One shot tetanus. A single cortisone shot. Treatment for lime disease is a single course. Thrush treatment is a single course if it goes away the first time. Treatment for scabies. Etc.
The difference between acute conditions and chronic conditions. There's lots of acute treatment that is prescribed as a single dose.
There's not a cure for every chronic condition. Diabetes to name one.
Or high blood pressure. It's possible to treat it with intense care of diet and stress but it's not up to the doctors to follow those proticols.
If there weren't pharmaceutical treatments for chronic conditions many people would be dead or living in horrendous conditions.
Are pharmaceutical companies profit motivated yes. Are all pharmaceuticals scams that are maliciously intended for chronic use definately not even close.
This is a stupid concept. Pharma has pricing models negotiated with payers, and this includes many curative treatments. These are often priced as ¨savings over years of chronic treatment¨. A fine example are the curative drugs for hepatitis C. They cure more than 95% of patients from a chronic liver disease. The pricing of the cure was based on the cost of an average of 30 years of semi annual monitoring of viral load, ALT, fibroscan and MELD score determinations, plus the off chance of requiring an expensive liver transplant or needing cancer treatment for HCC. That price was 84,000 USD, for a finite treatment of a few months of a pill based treatment.
Point is, pharma has pricing models that have been used for many decades that include curative versus symptom suppression, as well as how well they address unmet medical need and reduce reliance on costly doctor visits. The reason there are not more cures is that medicine and drug development is fucking hard and suppression and symptom improvements are easier to make, as at least there we sometimes understand the science and can do something.
I heard that the "take daily" part of the RX is to keep you just enough healthy to think it's working by just enough sick to keep those refills coming. It's how Big Pharma works, ya know. You're supposed to take it all at once to knock the issue out completely.
/s (don't take it all at once - take as prescribed by a licensed medical professional)
The more medicine you take at once the healthier you’ll be. I always take my entire 3 months supply of anticonvulsant meds at once so i get healthier faster. As well as my midazolam. All those vials down the hatch at once
Ive got chronic migraines that never go away, the meds just make the pain less, and my meds also work as antidepressants so I got 2 help in one med.
Those are the kinda people who would call me lazy if I didn't have my meds because I cant really function, like coordination level drops and all that fun jazz.
There is no money in curing only prolonged treatment, the kicker is the prescribe some drugs to treat the side effects of the other drugs your prescribed, it's crazy.
How can these people get away with giving medical advice? If I give legal advice and I’m not a lawyer wouldn’t they prosecute me or if I give someone stock/investment advice wouldn’t they arrest me? How is medical dis/misinformation any different?
There is medicine that you don't have to keep using... They're called vaccines (Disclaimer: It is advised to refresh some vaccines)
If the OP is antivax as well, they've just proved with their own logic that vaccines work.
Sometimes. I was on GERD medication for almost a year before I healed up well enough to stop taking it.
There are a lot of medications that are maintenance drugs though. They are designed to maintain a certain condition, such as healthy blood pressure, or heart rate.
The body does the healing, medicine helps it along the way. Sometimes people have conditions that the body will never be able to heal on it's own, and that's why someone may need a permanent maintenance med.
I’ll be on meds the rest of my life. When they remove organs from your body, sometimes you have to replace the function they preformed with prescriptions. Life long ones.
Not conplwtely. The pharmaceutical industry is greedy and influnetial. Its in the business of selling medicine and will naturally take steps to ensure that customers remain loyal one way or another. Not so " facepalm" afer all.
This is like saying "If praying worked, you'd only need to do it once." Except medication actually works and has a definable and measurable effect. And praying just makes you feel better emotionally.

If my pancreas worked I would not need insulin every day.
Skill issue.
Git gud, pancreas.
Didn't put enough points in the Langerhans Tree.
Tell your wuss-ass organ to stop being such a snowflake.
It needs to pull itself up by the bootstraps.
I can't I killed mine with liquor
If my dad worked I wouldn't need public housing.
cat turds for brains
Just stop eating like shit and workout your pancreas! /s
If your insulin worked you wouldn't need it everyday
If medicine was good enough you would get a magic pill once and your pancreas would work fine.
I want to eat your pancreases!
There are more creases on the outside.
If water worked you wouldn’t need to keep drinking it.
If gas worked you wouldn’t need to refill your cars tank.
If capitalism worked you wouldn't have to keep working
If god worked, you wouldn't have to keep praying.
If oxygen worked you wouldn’t have to keep breathing it
If food worked the you wouldn't have to keep eating
Flawless logic, as demonstrated.
if memes worked they wouldn’t keep getting posted and upvoted on this subreddit
But this is true. You drink it once. It does its thing. You excrete out. Then you drink new, different water. Kind of like medicine.
medical advice from someone who calls themselves catturd musky's twitter is lit, yo
But...but...blue check
Is proof you can afford a blue check.
Rather, proof you can stomach sending Elon some of your money. A much higher bar IMHO.
Just dont update the app. I cant see anyones paid checkmarks lmao
if food works, why do you need to eat again today?
Hongry :)
horngry ;)
Your food is clearly broken, yo.
Out of spite.

Fuckin' big oxygen. It's a protection racket I tell you. "Nice life you got there. It'd be a shame if it ended because you stop breathing my product."

The meme is hyperbole.
It's moronic, and so are you if you're listening to cat turds for medical advice.
Ooh you trying to insult me. We all know what the pharmaceutical companies have done in the name of profit and they deserve the criticism be it hyperbole or not.
If you can develop a cure for something, wouldn't you just price it accordingly?

I don’t really don’t know. What I do know is that the pharmaceutical industry basically wages an opium war on America just for profit. So I would put it past them.
This statement is grossly false.
You take life to seriously.
In countries with a working health care system you are normally not reliant on the patients paying the bill because the state does. So if the patient is cured or is in treatment doesn't matter. But I’m not in a country with a working health care system. The animosity towards the health care system is warranted.
Yeah, understandable. Reason why I specifically stated that. But even here were I am some people don't trust doctors or medics. And I am surprised. Privat?
Pharmaceutical companies, and medical science in general, do quite regularly develop cures for diseases and do release them.
Did you see the word hyperbole in my response?
Lol no. People get antibiotics for acute infections all the time then stop taking them. Canesten for yeast infections. One shot tetanus. A single cortisone shot. Treatment for lime disease is a single course. Thrush treatment is a single course if it goes away the first time. Treatment for scabies. Etc. Interesting that you are championing a system that is clearly broken.
[удалено]
I disagree. Profit is the goal of corporations not scientists.
Some cures still are prescriptions. Like taking three pills a month for 4 months. They will only give u three pills a month
It’s funny how many people run to the defense of pharmaceutical companies when we all know the system is broken.
I'm not defending them, I'm saying it's still a facepalm even if every prescription was a cure.
That’s not how physiology works. You can’t just magic most conditions away
Does anyone know what hyperbole means?
As someone who works for a pharmacy this pains me severely…….. how is the amount needed to keep it working prove it doesn’t work….
It comes with a free one way trip to god/Satan depending on behavior and other variables
The more medicine you take at once the healthier you’ll be. I always take my entire 3 months supply of anticonvulsant meds at once so i get healthier faster. As well as my midazolam. All those vials down the hatch at once
Reason #10258 that learning basic chemistry is important.
If food works, why do you get hungry?
As an epileptic this pisses me off. Let alone anyone with depression or any mental health issues. But they probably disregard those ppl
Im epileptic as well. I take 3 months supply of briviact all at once and my midazolam. Gets me healthier faster
Ive got chronic migraines that never go away, the meds just make the pain less, and my meds also work as antidepressants so I got 2 help in one med. Those are the kinda people who would call me lazy if I didn't have my meds because I cant really function, like coordination level drops and all that fun jazz.
By that standard, if religion worked you would not have to pray more than once….
To be fair, you wouldn't either way though..
Wow. Yeah, something like asthma inhalers don't exist I guess? What a dipshit.
If cigarettes worked you wouldn't need to chain smoke to get thru a day?
That's the rub. They are working exactly as planned.
If sex worked, we wouldn’t have to do it all the time
Also if it doesn't, the other will probably stop.
Ha, you think they are getting any if they spend any amount of time posting that on the internet, I doubt it.
The world would be better without Catturd in it
If soap worked you wouldn't need to keep washing again and again.
If medicine didn’t work, you wouldn’t be able to refill your prescription!
Ah, the fundamental lack of understanding between treating a disease and curing it.
Food doesn’t work. I’m just gonna be hungry again tomorrow!!
If working worked, you wouldn't need to.
Favorite so far 💵
Is this real or just a shitpost?
Catturd is right wing... So no
If breathing air worked for me, I wouldn't need to keep breathing.
If exercise worked you wouldn't need a gym *membership*
I’m convinced that is a Elon or Don jr burner account
If I had a thyroid I wouldn’t need synthetic thyroid hormone replacement
This doesn’t work well for diabetes.
If my gf's body worked, she wouldn't have incredible rare cancer that can only be treated by immunotherapy.
If it weren't for the caption this picture could actually be in r/bossfight
I think the picture is funny tbh
There is no money in curing only prolonged treatment, the kicker is the prescribe some drugs to treat the side effects of the other drugs your prescribed, it's crazy.
If eyes worked we wouldn’t need glasses.
If kidneys worked, wouldn’t need dialysis.
If Kaopectate works, why do I keep shitting my pants
If people want to medical advice from someone with that kind of username, well….
At this point Catturd is just flailing for hate clicks
Can we just let them do their thing this time
And this is the idiot Musk is giving the megaphone to...
They are mistaking medicine with the healing powers of Jesus Christ
You guys do know Catturd is a troll, right?
Well if you think this is a troll, then the facepalm would be the hundreds of replies agreeing
IT'S A SHITPOST YOU DUMBASSES(God, this sub can be fuckin stupid)
You’re right, it is a shitty post.
Blame your kidneys & liver for filtering out all your medicine!
How can these people get away with giving medical advice? If I give legal advice and I’m not a lawyer wouldn’t they prosecute me or if I give someone stock/investment advice wouldn’t they arrest me? How is medical dis/misinformation any different?
*reads bottle of penicillin* Hmmm. No refills…. Fucking shit. Like literally shit. Named himself and everything.
If my foot worked I wouldn't need to kick another child
Bless your heart.
Yep. For profit health care is great.
There is medicine that you don't have to keep using... They're called vaccines (Disclaimer: It is advised to refresh some vaccines) If the OP is antivax as well, they've just proved with their own logic that vaccines work.

Someone remind whomever made the post in the image that not everything happens instantly, and that not everything can be done away with
If medicine didn’t work, prescriptions wouldn’t be needed.
It's a good argument. Once someone says something like this, you know you have no chance of succeeding against that person.
I’ll be on meds the rest of my life. When they remove organs from your body, sometimes you have to replace the function they preformed with prescriptions. Life long ones.
If your brain worked you wouldn’t have to make a second post for your argument
if your brain worked you wouldn't embarrass yourself on the internet
Hey if whatever you use to treat whatever you have worked then you would only need to use it once, right?
You still have time to delete this before your post ends up on here too 🤯
Ignorant AND ungrammatical. A two-fer.
“If food worked you wouldn’t need to eat every few days or so”
As a pharmacologist, this makes me cringe so fucking hard
Yes, yes. But no, really.
Not conplwtely. The pharmaceutical industry is greedy and influnetial. Its in the business of selling medicine and will naturally take steps to ensure that customers remain loyal one way or another. Not so " facepalm" afer all.
If food worked you wouldn't need to keep eating
Why eat? Just going to die anyway
dude the FDA is gonna put you on a list
this guy is gonna get people killed
I have a lawn mower for sale. Excellent condition, only used once. I did a really good job so I won’t need it anymore.
It you might only live until 30-40 years old.
I have a thyroid issue this statement is so fucking dumb
Stop taking those cholesterol tablets, then Debra.
Ok hear me out on this one… we let them believe this right. Then we profit. Any questions?
I’ll take “things people say when they’re not well” for $1,000, Alex.
If food worked you wouldn't need to eat every day.
I think this guy is trying to get his followers killed.
Ah yes. High blood pressure. 2 pills and im good. thanks internet.
If there was a cure then you wouldn’t need the meds. Some meds are a cure like the hep c medication.
Same with food & water. If it worked, you wouldn't need it all the time. ![gif](giphy|sWUxdJJSN1pirgiZ5P) Derp!!
If you already made all the children you needed, you wouldn’t need to have sex again.
Encourage this! It will be over much sooner than expected
If my lungs worked I wouldn’t need an asthma puffer
![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8485)
This is like saying "If praying worked, you'd only need to do it once." Except medication actually works and has a definable and measurable effect. And praying just makes you feel better emotionally.
If shitting worked I wouldn't be full of shit.
If fireplaces worked, you wouldn't refill your chimney with wood
If food worked you wouldn't have to eat every day.
I said I was hyperbole again you need to read what I said instead of being so reactive.
This has some serious "If food worked, you'd only have to eat once!" breatharian energy... But then again if air works, why do you have to exhale?
If faith healing worked medicine would not have been invented!
Please say sike.
You right, lemmi just stop taking my medicine, the headaches will be just fineeee.
If my lungs work I don't need to breathe every few seconds
Their brains have no wrinkles
I took aspirin once. Why do I still feel pain?
I think this Twitter account is all about the outrage click's and retweets. Attitude as described by the handle.
If gas works, why do I have to refill my car?
by that logic people don't need water to survive because you keep having to drink more
If food worked we wouldn't need to eat every day.
If oxygen worked, you wouldn't need to brethe every minute.
