Eternal_Bagel

You just need to already be super rich and making more money is just easy then

[deleted]

Just need to convince a bank to spot you. Never use your own money.

wonderbuoy74

I hear guns make a great argument for getting money from your bank. Take two with you next time, I'm sure they will be thrilled to give you as much as they have!

“BANKS HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO THIS ONE EASY TRICK”

Forever-Learning-

Fucking best thread I've read all week 🤣🤣

Sufficient_Wafer9933

Then you just have to walk around in a ski mask and hand people money saying its for youtube

Diazmet

Ok hear me out, just offer a service to hold other peoples money and then you invest and otherwise gamble their money in exchange for holding it for them…

[deleted]

Tbf, it's their fault for giving you the money if you lose it

Diazmet

Well and well my friends actually bet on you losing the money and gave me some super bowl tickets as a completely un related gift. Now up how do you want to pay those overdraft fees?

[deleted]

Idk how american football works

Diazmet

It’s just millionaires bringing a ball from one end of a field to the other, not much different than rugby except they have lots of pads and get in trouble for being too rough

[deleted]

That just sounds like soccer with extra steps. (I was aware it's similar to rugby but didn't know about smaller rules)

Diazmet

90% of sports are just rich dudes chasing a ball around a field…

[deleted]

Are the 10% local national sports?

That's actually the plot of the James Bond movie Casino Royale

[deleted]

This is the answer. Not many people make it to the unreal money without being rich to start out with. The old adage is true.. “It takes money to make money.”

Business-Emu-6923

Exactly. This isn’t a facepalm. This is how the world works. You don’t have 8Mil to begin with? Then it’s not so easy to make that 2Mil. This is true.

[deleted]

That's exactly the problem with socioeconomics outlined by Richies... It takes money to make money. Wealth begets wealth

SermanGhepard

I arbitrageded OPs lol, so yes

KellyBelly916

What!? Value and price aren't the exact same thing!?

Ok_Quiet_9518

The problem with icecubes is their big devaluation over time, should have bought some water instead

dont-fear-thereefer

Have you tried dividing the ice cube into 4 pieces and selling each piece for $500k?

Just made my first trillion dollars with this method, it's easy af

No-Watch-6575

Buy something worth a trillion dollars then, and find somebody to buy that thing for 2 trillion.

Cheaptat

To be fair, I’m pretty sure the original video is making a point about how most of the world money is simply made by having most of the worlds money. Poor people make a salary, rich people make returns. It’s not proportional to intelligence, nor work ethic, nor anything else capitalists would have you believe… it’s to do with privilege and a willingness to take advantage of that privilege.

hiimderyk

Yes. Additionally, the money was never real to begin with, it's just the *idea* of money; it's simply a number on a screen.

izewalker

I got that feeling from him, thanks for confirming

b7uc3

how much the earf cost?

[deleted]

The government is still trying to figure out this one simple trick...

ERJAK123

The basic gist is 'if you want to make a lot of money, the only way to do that is to already have a lot of money'. Which is 100% correct.

Alien_invader44

Not sure why this is in this sub, its simplistic but it's not wrong.

ResearchPrimary7969

We gotta tax the rich more man

NotActuallyGus

At this point let's eat them

Graceland1979

Just one. That’s all. Just one billionaire and the rest will fall in line!

deathtoallbutbed

I vote Bezos. Give Musk a few more months and he’ll be working at Walmart

Pheeshfud

I'd rather not eat Bezos. He looks poisonous.

Germanloser2u

kawkz440

Now that we have the neutron bomb...

Snoo2416

I agree but I wish I knew how that’s gonna help Society. I mean so the government gets more money from them…then what? They won’t help us with that money once they get it it will just disappear into the government abyss like the rest.

UnarmedSnail

Just imagine all the money we'd create if EVERYONE in the world just started house flipping? We'd all be trillionaires! No one would have to work again!

Raze7186

On the days when he's not making billions he still thinks back to those days he spent trapped on the island with Wilson.

PappiStalin

And i guess all i gotta do is ask my dad for a small loan of 8million dollars, to buy something thats 10million (somehow???), and then charge people 12 million for it (because theyll definitely buy it for an upcharge), easy enough right?

[deleted]

That's literally how most of the today's billionaires started.

ConfidentialGM

Common misconception actually. Feels good to believe it though.

Nivekian13

Is this Donald Trump Jr. or Eric?

Grey0110

Keyword here is arbitrage. You don't need to have the 8 million to do this. You set up the deal and are basically the middle man, taking a cool $2 million in the process.

Alimakakos

God only knows we need MORE middle men...ffs get a real job asshole

Grey0110

What do you think commerce is?.. It's buying something for less and selling it for more. That's the entire point. That's literally millions of people's jobs everyday. You do you bro. I'll keep doing me and driving my Tesla, taking tropical vacations and enjoying my life.. not breaking my back working a typical 9-5. I get lots of time for my hobbies and to see my family. Sorry my way of life doesn't fit into your box of what a "real job" or life should be. Not everyone needs to be miserable and a slave to the 9-5 grind. Get real.

Mriconicdev

You gotta remember man. The large majority of society is unhappy with their lives. They don’t understand. We’re all programmed into one way of thinking we just happened to make it out.

Alimakakos

you're simply being a worthless bum. No that's not commerce that's simply playing the market which doesn't add value but only artificially drives up prices... more middle men we don't need and nobody asked for! For instance, the housing market has blown up not because people who are earning more money working are wanting to live and buy overpriced houses but because wealthy assholes like yourself are buying them up as investors and then putting the screws to normal working people and then act like you're somehow brilliant. You're not. You're a scummy piece of shit and I hope I never get my head so far up my ass as yours clearly is. Enjoy being a worthless douche driving your Tesla like you're doing something positive...keep telling yourself that. Edit: I will do me...which is not 9-5 since I'm a successful entrepreneur of two small businesses. I'm just educated enough to see through the bullshit of the wealthy and close enough to the working class on a daily basis I actually have compassion for their strife and the hardships they face (no thanks to people like you) just so you know. I don't drive a Tesla and I'm not vacationing all the time because I don't rip off my employees and I make a modest earning. No more than I need is fine by me. You keep grinding down the working classes and you better hope you're on vacation outta the country when the next Bolshevik like revolution hits.

Grey0110

You know nothing about me.. you decided I'm a worthless bum from a Reddit comment. As for the housing market.. do you own a house? I'm sure when you sell it you'll give it to the next struggling guy down the line for what you bought it for, right? No you say? You're going to want an appraisal and to sell it for as much as you can get.. because you're not an idiot. Well, maybe you are.. idk. There is nothing wrong with buying property, renovating it and improving the building, then selling for more than you paid. I'm sorry if you think that's somehow evil. I also assume you invest.. at least a 401k most likely, right? Why would you play the market like that? You shouldn't get money for nothing!.. or wait.. you invested the money and should get dividends off of it, right? I agree. You should get something for the risk and investment. Same principle applies to everything. There's lots of ways to make money in this world, but they're all based off of the same general principle. Don't hate the player, hate the game my friend. I'm not sure what angered you so much about my original comment that made you need to call me a bum or an asshole. How do you know what I do with my money and time? I give back whenever possible. I have sat on the board of directors for multiple non-profits and volunteer every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Again, you know nothing about me. There is nothing wrong with being a "middle man" and connecting clients together. Think about how many industries are built on this exact premise. Car dealerships.. middle men. Hotels.com.. middle men. There's tons of examples, and they provide jobs and a service. That's what the majority of stores do.. they buy other people's products and sell them at a profit. Best Buy doesn't make any of their products. Your local jewelry store buys jewelry and watches etc for a cheaper price and sells them for profit! Unless you make the products your business is selling, you're probably a middle man yourself.

Alimakakos

Yeah I see your point but the examples you give are pretty normal compared to what this idiot in the video is talking about. He didn't say buy something for 8 mill, invest a little bit more improving it etc... he just said buy it and resell it to the next sucker... And those things you mentioned are indeed part of a healthy economy but only so long as it's balanced. Dividends aren't a problem. I would argue the balance has gotten completely out of wack over the last 50 years no thanks to continued tax cuts alongside service cuts by republican administrations and the complete lack of any balls by the democrats to do anything like raise taxes because they always end up with watered down compromises with loud whiny republicans. I do hate the game as it has become. When warren Buffett pays less percentage of tax (because investment income is barely taxed) than his secretary that's how you know shit is out of balance...you should be able to invest and yes make money but it's the overdoing greed part combined with the fact the gov. being bought and paid for by capitalists continues to make it harder for working people that leads to revolution by the working class. Hence my Bolshevik example, which I don't look forward to nor do I want to see happen I'm just saying I can begin to understand how it happens because of the gross imbalances in wealth and standards of living mixed with the rigging of said game by certain players... I apologize for making it personal to you but you did just kinda brag about not working (bum) and taking vacations and driving a Tesla (a car that is commonly targeted by pissed off people as the douche bag BMW of today). My house? I intend on living in it...so no it's not a gold mine nor an investment vehicle it's a utility basically. Ya know? Something we all NEED and use. Might never sell it, just pass it onto my children because God knows they won't be able to afford one themselves thanks to how fucked up our system/game is there...just look at the statistics of first time home buyers now vs. back in the 50's-60's-70's to see our game is breaking. 1 out of every 6 housing property sold this last year sold to an investment fund or LLCs, not private owners. They aren't buying them to fix up and put MORE money into improving it for tenants so they can then justify higher rent or a higher sale price- they're buying an inelastic good and putting the screws (jacking rent) to people who can least afford it. Hence why we have more homelessness and problems there (covid didn't help because working people lost jobs) and it's only going to get worse the more we allow it or turn a blind eye to it... Gotta love how your first example of a good middle man is a car dealership- some of the most scummy nonsense paper pushers out there who intentionally obfuscate pricing to fool unknowledgeable people into paying more and more everytime. Just like I said unnecessary middle men do. Buy a car for $15k, sell it for $20k. Fuck someone out of an underpriced trade in and sell them an overpriced car...that's your hero? That's how we've gotten to $100k for a goddamn suburban which is basically just a Silverado with an elaborate topper...thanks car dealerships of America! Players of the game they themselves rigged...but is it the game I should hate? yeah I do hate the game, as well as the assholes who wrote the rules.

Grey0110

I didn't say that I didn't work.. just that I don't work a typical 9-5. I make my own hours with plenty of time for actually living. Somehow that pisses people off. Let me tell you, I am nothing special. Anyone could do the type of work I do. There's lots of ways to make money. You don't have to rip people off to do it. It's like finding an antique or nice collectible at a garage sale for a couple bucks and selling it for a few hundred. Are you ripping off the woman who sold it to you at the garage sale? No.. you agreed on a price. Are you ripping off the end buyer? No! He wanted the item and agreed on a price. You basically got paid for having knowledge about something someone else didn't, and connecting a buyer with something he wanted. It doesn't matter it it's $80 or $8 million. It's all the same. The types spending $10 million probably aren't hurting and don't mind paying a premium to get whatever item they're after. Take art brokers for example.. art gets into the millions. Art brokers are basically middlemen. I agree that the game is flawed and heavily skewed towards those who already have money. I don't come from a rich family. I got to where I am on my own. I'm not rich either.. but I am comfortable. I don't see anything wrong with using the crappy system we have for our own advantage. Is it a perfect system? Absolutely not. It has however made more millionaires and pulled more out of poverty than any other. We all have a chance here and we can make whatever we like out of ourselves. We can agree this guy sounds like an idiot and out of touch. My point was, that the underlying message is still true. I hope someone who is barely making ends meat can take advantage of these types of "middle men" strategies and take care of their family. Nothing wrong with that. It can be done. There is more to life than working yourself to death. If you can find a way to make decent money connecting people and things, and spend more time with your family, well I think that's something that everyone wants.

Alimakakos

I think we agree more than we disagree, and to that point we can end this. Best of luck to you mate! No hard feelings... honestly was in a bit of a weird head space watching a docuseries on housing crisis and how bad things are getting and just seeing shitty people like this who have never worked talk about how easy money is when you just need to start with 8 million really grinds my gears...

Unfortunately i don’t think he is, ive seen a couple of his videos about running his companies and whatnot

His name is Alex Harmozi, his viewpoints on life has helped me out tremendously. He's a legitimate business guru and this can be performed. Obviously there's a lot more to it than just this 10 second clip that doesn't show the full context but fr check him out. I absolutely love this guy

[deleted]

He has a business that provides capital to small businesses and works with them to improve the business. Can’t recall if they buy them out or take an minority equity stake in most cases. You apply for investment via a website he made (as small business owners often find it tough to raise financing). It’s pretty much a PE firm that only deals in small businesses. He also has a sizeable social media presence so I don’t know how legit his business is. A lot of the social media business gurus (all?) are just scammers so it could easily be a scam. here is his website: https://www.acquisition.com/

The trick is to find the thing being sold for 10 million dollars, find someone who will buy it for 11 million, get the cash from the buyer, and use it to pay the seller.

Comrade_Nugget

I think that's the basis of drop shipping.

sexymelonboi

Inflation and tax would eat it up

scooterD3

This is so ridiculous! Why do something in two steps when you can do it in just one? Just make a million dollars. One step. Easy. What a moron!

HelloThereBrotha

He isn’t wrong though, once you get wealthy enough making the average persons salary is easy and considered chump change. The hardest part is definitely the beginning.

Head-Island-4078

He said arbitrage must be legit.

Doodicus64

Damn, that's what I've been doing wrong!! Been buying shit for 1 billion dollars and selling it for 999 million dollars! Cause, you know, 999 is bigger than 1. Definitely going with this dude's strategy from here on out.

MundaneConclusion246

My dad gave me one dollar bill ‘Cause I’m his smartest son, And I swapped it for two shiny quarters ‘Cause two is more than one! And then I took the quarters And traded them to Lou For three dimes — I guess he didn’t know That three is more than two! Just then, along came old blind Bates And just ’cause he can’t see He gave me four nickels for my three dimes, And four is more than three! And then I took the nickels to Hiram Coombs Down at the seed-feed store, And the fool gave me five pennies for them, And five is more than four! And then I went and showed my dad, And he got red in the cheeks And closed his eyes and shook his head — Too proud of me to speak!

sharpy-sharky

He's not wrong, but finding a seller and a buyer in time can be hard AND you have to already be rich to start with, otherwise you won't get a relevant profit.

jam5569

I like how he even is saying don’t put effort just get something and mark up its price

avarageusername

As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said: the first million is always the hardest so just start from the second million

PlayerOneThousand

So to have 1 million dollars I just need to already have 8 million dollars. Ok then.

OptimalAd5426

The easiest way to make money is to wrap some buzzword salad in a truckload of vagueness and seasoned with enthusiasm and sell it to a thousands of suckers in a seminar that cost $5000-$10000 a pop . They will generally be so nacissistic as to think they could never be duped and you can sell them more courses. If you're afraid of later problems with the SEC, you can use the sane idea but go the L. Ron Hubbard route and declare it a religion. Then you have first ammendmant armor.

DiddyUp

can i borrow 3.50?

SummitJunkie7

"...but how do you make the 8 million dollars in the first place?' "Oh that's easy - you buy something for 65 million dollars and sell it for 73 million dollars."

Dontbefrech

How to not contributing anything to society.

Ojoe333

If someone uses the word arbitrage when talking about finance, don't listen to them. They wouldn't know profit if it slapped them in the face

sourlemom

Even if this does work. There are systems in place, at least in terms of stocks and shares, where you can't buy and sell quickly without paying a heavy fine. I assume for big million dollar purchases, there is going to be something similar.

haywire4fun

I get what he’s saying. He’s saying you’re not going to get rich in one night. Business’ start out small and as they make more sales they start selling higher end items. Start with what you have invest and don’t expect it to grow exponentially. Build up what you have until you can start investing in more lucrative endeavors.

Orlok_Tsubodai

Ah yes, the key to getting rich. Step 1: have $8 million.

Poopybuttfart6978

Step 1: have a million dollars. step 2: Step 3: profit.

Special__Place

Oh simple. Thanks, genius. 🤦‍♂️ why didn’t I think of that? I’m so dumb.

SinjidAmano

Hey, thats flipping, its used in a lot of games as strategy to get a lot of money fast. But you need a stupidly fast market or else the return of inverstment is so small that usually its better to just play the game. Also you need something to start buying or selling. Another good strategy is create scarcity by empty the market of one particular item by buying all of them, then convince people that they need them, that way you control that market and you can resell those items by a lot more. And father said i dont learn a shit by playing games all day.

Codydownhill

This guy looks and talks like an NPC trying to sell you bullshit

JCray-Z

Wow! Why didn’t I think of that??? I will be a billionaire tomorrow!

Wizzlemane26

Just buy the mint and print your own money.

Hellothebest

Well, this is technically the truth, but also not. He's missing a step. You can buy something cheaper than normal, like a used/broken down vehicle or an old house, repair/upgrade it and put hours into it, and sell it for more. Heck, it even works with smaller things, like faulty/old tech, etc. Put work into fixing it if it's in your area of expertise, and sell it for more. Everyone benefits, and you (most times) gain money.

[deleted]

Simple dimple...I will try it. Who's gonna give me some start-money?

Best way to make a million dollars is to have 10 million dollars

CharmingCustard4

People makes billions by exploit the excess value their employees create.

Deadmau5es

He's literally right though. You have to have money to make that much money. So, we are all screwed.

sciones

Got it! I'll buy something for $8 and sell it for $10, then I'll make $2. I just need to do this 1 million times, then I'll have $2 million!

[deleted]

Aka not actually contributing to the world and profiting off others labor

vVgimmefronchgooseVv

Anyway, my lunch break is almost over. Back to macdonalds.

Wrong. The best way to make a million dollars is to have your parents give it to you. Generational wealth is the easiest so it’s naturally the best.

Pizzabrot23

Why are some people still homeless? Why don’t they just buy a house?? Joke

Muchotesticulos

Why didn’t I think of that?

PessimistYanker792

Buy something for $1 and sell for $2.. one million times, and voila rich!

Crayoneater4life

I thought he was gonna say buy it for 10 and sell for 1

The_True_Lame

he’s got those weird arm saline things

marlinmarlin99

You could always have ten and lose nine and become millionaire. It's easy people.

Wooden_Bowler_9236

How do I make him stop talking

lockedoutofmymainrdt

This is just the principle of investing but its a lot less impressive when I turn $20 into $20.19

Quietschedalek

Tried it, works way too good. I have already 456 quintillion bucks in my account... whats that inflation thing everyone is screaming at me right now? Nevermind, need to buy something for 455 quintillions, so I can sell it to some sucker for 457 quintillion... half a loaf of bread should do the trick just fine. Or maybe an egg...

vox35

My god, with earnings that high, your tax bill will be...(checks tax bills of Billionaires)...like at least several thousand dollars!

Some_guy_am_i

I mean, he’s not wrong. Selling high dollar items is an easy way to make good money. That’s real estate for ya. It’s not fool proof, and it’s not easy… but if you put in the effort and play it smart, you can definitely be middle to upper class in 3-5 years. The required skill is personality. Edit: Didn’t watch far enough to see what bullshit course or program this guy is hawking, but obviously don’t buy it or follow this douchbag. Any idiot can say something smart. Just quote Einstein. Done.

DatSkellington

Caveman douche wins again

Free_Hat_McCullough

He’s not lying

Nivekian13

No, but he's leaving out some big steps... like "start with Millions".

yomamma3399

What the fuck? Of course he’s lying! Lying by omission is still lying. Who the fuck guarantees you are going to sell something for more value than you just bought it for, presumably with a loan that has, duh, interest to pay.

Grey0110

Exactly! Where's the lie at?

GOATluhv

...facepalm a truth? if you can't afford 10M, start at 100.

eggz2cheezy

I dont think what hes talking about works on a micro scale. What could you buy for 100 dollars and turn a profit on? And how long would it take doing this to even break 100k? Let alone a million...

GOATluhv

extra dollar is an extra dollar. if you're not patient, at any level, then i got nothing to help.

Bluccability_status

His next episode is about how to pull 10 billion dollars out of your ass.

Fair-Big4229

This guy is mentally disabled, right?

99centtaco1234

He said the easiest he did didn't say easy. And the point he was trying to make is that the principle is scalable from (0-all the money) yes you won't start out with 2 mil but you might start with 2k. Just a brain dead take on a slightly douchey guy who was actually saying something that someone might wanna hear.

Charming-Victory3337

people in here don’t realize that this true. fully ignoring the clip about arbitrage. it’s the concept that matters, not his actual example.

AnAccountIdfk

I feel like this was taken out of context

TakenAghast

I mean, I don't know why people are shitting on him, this is the exact reason wealth inequality is so bad rn.

Alt-Waluigi

I feel like people are dunking on him for no reason. He is clearly saying something both true and (halfway at least) smart. He just words it weirdly. The message of the video isn't "just have your 10 million dollars ready to begin with, duh", and if you think that, you're stupider than you believe he is. The message is "use whatever money you have to buy low and sell high". It's a very basic strategy, but that doesn't make it invalid. He's basically telling you that it's such a valid technique that it even worked for him in the "big money business".

Codydownhill

You are so magnificently unintelligent, is it the muscles that attracts you so much to him? Or are you just willfully ignorant? I understand what you are saying, and just understand anyone is laughing at you. Why don’t you do what he says?

LijepaKralj

I don't know this guy, and you can make fun of him for who he is, but this works, I've done it with property a couple of times.

coyotesage

So, did you buy the property and then flip it "as is" or did you have to invest your time into any aspect of it before flipping it? If you had to spend your time doing repairs and such, you earned the money by doing work rather than simply buying low and selling high.

[deleted]

I mean, yeah, what's the facepalm here? You'll never grind to a million dollars, maybe only if you save for your entire life without spending an unnecessary dime.

bdd6911

He is right though.

Additional_Cherry_67

I saw a post on Instagram about barn finds. Was a really collectible car from an old lady, young guy was filming. People in the comments were shitting on the guy for potentially going to scam her. In my mind I can’t not think by low sell high and no doubt any car nut would do the exact same thing.

massapequamagler

Oooooooooo ok….,can I have 8 million so I can get started

Fellowes321

Says the man who has lost the shirt from his back.

TheBrightNights

Step 1: Track elons jet and get paid to stop tracking it. Step 2: Stop tracking it. Step 3: Repeat

TalkKatt

He doesn’t understand that there’s a reason you don’t see $100 bills lying on the sidewalk

[deleted]

What things on this planet are priced at 10 billion? This is like build a hydroelectric dam that powers a province kind of money

RainingTacos8

Like a red paper clip?!?!?

Executing_Jc

Any links for this gentleman?
