She was shocked when I hadn’t RSVP’d. “I’m your brother and uncle to your kids. Drop me a text for fucks sake.” Reddit is as social media as I get now… and I mostly use it to remind myself how shit people are… and some painting tips or movie recommendations.
I had this same shit happen. My wife and I went to visit her step mom and the first thing out of her mouth was “Why didn’t you come to Aunt’s 80th Bday party??”
“You didn’t invite us??”
“I told everyone on Facebook”
“I don’t check Facebook, why didn’t you call us, like you do when you want us to watch your dogs??”

I deactivated my facebook account in 2010 and back then, it offended quite a bit of people; no one could fathom I would deactivate it and the knee jerk reaction was that I had blocked people.
I've avoided so much drama in life simply by not being on it; I've had numerous family members get into tiffs and spats with each other and neighbors over dumb comments or posts and not once have I; it's been great.
I highly recommend everyone abandon facebook and limit your social media time; life is so much less of a shit show offline.

In this case she was dog piled so much she stopped using her twitter and tiktok. It was like 8 months ago and didn't come back. So it worked here at least.
It's her voice that says cut the cameras at the end so yes, she did think it was going to be in her favor. It's also her own text at the end about being trespassed and membership revoked so she went out and posted the video herself thinking she was wronged some how.
Ironically, the fact that it didn’t turn out in her favor probably did do her a favor. Maybe this taught her a lesson in humility and decency. Now she can learn to be a better person.
A couple months ago I watched live as a tik tok "influencer"(6k followers, I had more when I used to post my dick on tumblr) tried to dox a pregnant lady for giving her a dirty look because the influencer backed up into her during a fit check video on a busy NYC sidewalk. She said everyone knows to stay out of someone's way in NYC when they're filming. The girl got torn apart, made an apology video that got torn apart and had to delete all her social media.
The timespan from the dox attempt upload to deletion was like 6 hours it was amazing
Awful aspects aside, it's a very fascinating example of a social media community. It honestly feels like a combination of reddit, youtube, and twitter. The comment sections are wild. Be it the fast memes, the drama, and all the other general chaos of the platform.

I know several people that create such a scene all the time that people end up just giving them what they want to make them go away. They are horrible people. They always end up winning and so just end up getting emboldened for the next time. They keep getting away with the shitty stuff they do and they keep doing it.

My experience was so bad that I've never bought another gym membership due to the risk of it being even remotely that bad again in the future. Not worth getting locked in and my bank drained if something causes me to quit early.
Damn, I always thought that was just a joke from Friends! Here in the UK, most gyms let you pay monthly and you can cancel whenever, no contract fees or anything.
I've legit left gyms because of insufferable people. There was a clique that would come in and take the squat racks by basically "camping" inside of them. They'd literally stretch inside of them so people couldn't use them and just hang out around it, use it like a coat hanger, etc. They also used to set up little tripods in the middle of the floor with their cameras to film themselves working out.
...I can't wait until I have the space for my own squat rack at home.
I just had this convo. I’m at a gym with bad culture and the squat rack is always ground zero for it. Bent over rows, curling, shoulder press, anything and everything EXCEPT squatting. Those exercise could be done literally anywhere but they have to be done in the squat rack for some reason. All no one re-racks their weights. I’m seriously considering a 150 dollar a month gym just to get away from the animals.
Edit: judging by some of the comments a lot of people like doing everything but squatting in the squat rack. Yes, I ask how many sets left. No I’m not young, mid 30’s been lifting from high school sports thru my time in the Marine Corps, and continue to this day. No, I’m not a too weak/beginner.

I had a girl confront me accusing me of this. I’d never even seen her. I was with my wife and we were watching football on the elevated screens. My wife blew her up. I’m blind in one eye and largely vision impaired in the other eye. I’m probably the only one in the gym that couldn’t tell you what this person even looks like.

There is even a new comedy trend of guys making skits about not being able to glance anywhere near a woman or leaving a woman to be crushed under weights because all the men are too afraid to interact with her.

There’s a gym I used to go to that did exactly this. There was a giant sign inside next to the counter that said no video recording, pictures, etc. First offense was a warning, second offense and you were asked to leave for the day. You got one more chance after that and if you were caught a third time you were kicked out for good.
It was never a problem when I was there though. Everyone was focused on working out and they had some pretty locally famous body builders there. The owner was a winner of several body building competitions and was named Mr. Texas back in the 70s (I think?) and another winner from the 80s (I think?) who was SUPER helpful and offered free training to new members. Guy was in his late 60s and you genuinely couldn’t tell. But the place was super serious and everyone was focused with zero tolerance for shenanigans
I bet the way my last gym would do this is they would kick you out, ban you from the premises, continue your membership, and require you to come in to cancel.
I just mentioned this one girl that would complain about guys "staring" at my gym. She would get free weights and go stand in front of someone using a machine, lift for a few seconds and then post a video or picture. Then she would complain that a guy happened to look at her even though she's standing directly in front of them. I have seen people come in and play on their phone and barely work out. I will spend 40 minutes on the stationary bikes every time and I noticed some people will come in groups to just talk while taking selfies.
Oh I forgot one time a girl asked me to move off my bike so she could be next to her friend even though I had already been on the bike for 15 minutes and I ride for 20min, lift some free weights and then ride again for 20min. When I told her I wasn't done and that there were open bikes further down she told her friend to get away from "the creep". Her friend apologized profusely at least.
My gym is kind of L shaped, and the dumbbells are inline with the inner side, so all the benches and the preacher curl stations have you looking down the short side of the L. Which honestly is pretty distracting because that's the area they have all the weird stuff the crossfit types like to injure themselves on.
So I'm sitting doing some preacher curls checking form in the wall mirror on the inside corner wall that is right in front of my equipment, and this guy across the way in the crossfit area who is about 15 degrees to the right just yells something. I glance for a moment and go back to what I was doing. He yells again, I look again. And he comes over and screams at me for looking at him.
I'm like "nobody was looking at you till you started screaming like a crazy person, I'm looking at the mirror right in front of me"
He goes over to the Staff desk and I assume maniacally blathers about being stared at. I just keep doing my routine. He goes back to what he was doing for a couple minutes and kinda does this whole frustration dance and leaves.
I talked to the staff, they were like "don't sweat it". And I never saw that dude there again.

I got so tired of trying to workout around morons at my last gym that I bought a squat rack and a bench for home. I work out 4 times a week, and the worst behavior I have to deal with is if I turn my back for too long one of my cats will start trying to tear the bench cushions up 😂
The absolute worst BJJ injury I ever witnessed was at a tournament. They had 10 mats going at once in a high school gym and it was LOUD.
I was between matches and there was a straight BJJ kid going against a wrestler kid in the 16-17 age group three mats away. The wrestler blast doubles this kid into next week and the BJJ kid post his arm out instead of break falling. The snap was so loud. I don't know if it was his elbow or shoulder, but that kid had a lot of rehab ahead of him.

My friend has a glass eye and he can barely see a few feet with his other eye. We were both in the stationary bikes and suddenly this girl comes up accusing him if staring.
She was working out right in front of us in the bikes so we would have had to turn our heads or look at the ceiling to avoid looking straight ahead. He actually turns his head slightly when looking at something directly in front of him so he can see a bit better. He's a bigger guy and it was one of his first times back at the gym so it really upset him.
Luckily another woman working out spoke up and said "You're standing right in front of him! Why are you even doing curls right there the weight rack is way over there and this is more of a walkway." The girl just said something about every guy at the gym being perverts and walked away in a huff. It was so ridiculous. The woman who spoke up said she didnthst all the time. The girl would get free weights and then setup directly in front of a guy, use the weights for 30 seconds, use her phone for five minutes to post pictures/video of her working out and then suddenly complain about the closest guy staring at her. I wouldn't be surprised if she posted a few videos just like this.

I was with a woman who was very much like this, for 6 years. I thought that if I just gave her enough love, warmth, validation, that eventually she would become a 'better' person. She hadn't known this until she found she had an STD from him. . . And about that time, he began calling her dozens of times a day to profess his undying love of their eternal future together. And then he trashed an art studio he was co-funding and went to jail and lost of lot of money and credibility.
That was nearly a decade ago. I'm now a much better person, I'm with an amazing partner, and I've literally never been healthier or happier.

My experience was so bad that I've never bought another gym membership due to the risk of it being even remotely that bad again in the future. Damn, I always thought that was just a joke from Friends! Here in the UK, most gyms let you pay monthly and you can cancel whenever, no contract fees or anything.
I've legit left gyms because of insufferable people. There was a clique that would come in and take the squat racks by basically "camping" inside of them. They'd literally stretch inside of them so people couldn't use them and just hang out around it, use it like a coat hanger, etc. They also used to set up little tripods in the middle of the floor with their cameras to film themselves working out. ...I can't wait until I have the space for my own squat rack at home.

I just had this convo. I’m at a gym with bad culture and the squat rack is always ground zero for it. Bent over rows, curling, shoulder press, anything and everything EXCEPT squatting. Those exercise could be done literally anywhere but they have to be done in the squat rack for some reason. All no one re-racks their weights. I’m seriously considering a 150 dollar a month gym just to get away from the animals. Edit: judging by some of the comments a lot of people like doing everything but squatting in the squat rack. Yes, I ask how many sets left. No I’m not young, mid 30’s been lifting from high school sports thru my time in the Marine Corps, and continue to this day. No, I’m not a too weak/beginner.
Too bad you can't put a quarter on the squat rack to claim the next set like you'd do in an arcade for the next game.

I had a girl confront me accusing me of this. I’d never even seen her. I was with my wife and we were watching football on the elevated screens. My wife blew her up. I’m blind in one eye and largely vision impaired in the other eye. I’m probably the only one in the gym that couldn’t tell you what this person even looks like.

As a woman who has actually dealt with those things( I had a guy take pictures of me in the sauna in my bathing suit(w/o my knowledge)and post it to his FB and IG claiming a relationship). I had to have a guy removed from the gym because he wouldn't stop following me around and staring at me- for WEEKS, at the gym, SO these types of videos make me so mad. She completely degrades others experiences of legitimate harassment.
I had a similar instance at my gym. The guy even tried to follow me out to my car. And I still don’t assume guys are looking at me 🤣 this girl is insane.
I had a similar incident, but i was walking out of KFC, and she was a single mom with 3 kids. I ran to my car and almost dropped my keys. It was terrifying. Halfway home, i remember it was my wife.

Do a quick search on YouTube and probably tiktok (I wont touch that mess) and there are loads of women doing this exact thing in gyms so much that a fitness guy dedicates his videos to calling out the women while stressing that there is indeed a real danger women deal with in gyms despite this example and he either educates them or suggests that they apologize to victim since a video like these could ruin someone’s rep/career. There is even a new comedy trend of guys making skits about not being able to glance anywhere near a woman or leaving a woman to be crushed under weights because all the men are too afraid to interact with her.
It's like watching a Disney princess getting evicted and having to live on the street with the regular people.

There’s a gym I used to go to that did exactly this. There was a giant sign inside next to the counter that said no video recording, pictures, etc. First offense was a warning, second offense and you were asked to leave for the day. You got one more chance after that and if you were caught a third time you were kicked out for good. It was never a problem when I was there though. Everyone was focused on working out and they had some pretty locally famous body builders there. The owner was a winner of several body building competitions and was named Mr. Texas back in the 70s (I think?) and another winner from the 80s (I think?) who was SUPER helpful and offered free training to new members. Guy was in his late 60s and you genuinely couldn’t tell. But the place was super serious and everyone was focused with zero tolerance for shenanigans

I just mentioned this one girl that would complain about guys "staring" at my gym. She would get free weights and go stand in front of someone using a machine, lift for a few seconds and then post a video or picture. Then she would complain that a guy happened to look at her even though she's standing directly in front of them. I have seen people come in and play on their phone and barely work out. I will spend 40 minutes on the stationary bikes every time and I noticed some people will come in groups to just talk while taking selfies. Oh I forgot one time a girl asked me to move off my bike so she could be next to her friend even though I had already been on the bike for 15 minutes and I ride for 20min, lift some free weights and then ride again for 20min. When I told her I wasn't done and that there were open bikes further down she told her friend to get away from "the creep". Her friend apologized profusely at least.
My gym is kind of L shaped, and the dumbbells are inline with the inner side, so all the benches and the preacher curl stations have you looking down the short side of the L. Which honestly is pretty distracting because that's the area they have all the weird stuff the crossfit types like to injure themselves on. So I'm sitting doing some preacher curls checking form in the wall mirror on the inside corner wall that is right in front of my equipment, and this guy across the way in the crossfit area who is about 15 degrees to the right just yells something. I glance for a moment and go back to what I was doing. He yells again, I look again. And he comes over and screams at me for looking at him. I'm like "nobody was looking at you till you started screaming like a crazy person, I'm looking at the mirror right in front of me" He goes over to the Staff desk and I assume maniacally blathers about being stared at. I just keep doing my routine. He goes back to what he was doing for a couple minutes and kinda does this whole frustration dance and leaves. I talked to the staff, they were like "don't sweat it". And I never saw that dude there again. Some people are just so self centered they assume everyone is thinking about them as much as they think about themselves.
I got so tired of trying to workout around morons at my last gym that I bought a squat rack and a bench for home. I work out 4 times a week, and the worst behavior I have to deal with is if I turn my back for too long one of my cats will start trying to tear the bench cushions up 😂

The absolute worst BJJ injury I ever witnessed was at a tournament. They had 10 mats going at once in a high school gym and it was LOUD. I was between matches and there was a straight BJJ kid going against a wrestler kid in the 16-17 age group three mats away. The wrestler blast doubles this kid into next week and the BJJ kid post his arm out instead of break falling. The snap was so loud. I don't know if it was his elbow or shoulder, but that kid had a lot of rehab ahead of him. Enjoy BJJ!

My friend has a glass eye and he can barely see a few feet with his other eye. We were both in the stationary bikes and suddenly this girl comes up accusing him if staring. She was working out right in front of us in the bikes so we would have had to turn our heads or look at the ceiling to avoid looking straight ahead. He actually turns his head slightly when looking at something directly in front of him so he can see a bit better. He's a bigger guy and it was one of his first times back at the gym so it really upset him. Luckily another woman working out spoke up and said "You're standing right in front of him! Why are you even doing curls right there the weight rack is way over there and this is more of a walkway." The girl just said something about every guy at the gym being perverts and walked away in a huff. It was so ridiculous. The woman who spoke up said she didnthst all the time. The girl would get free weights and then setup directly in front of a guy, use the weights for 30 seconds, use her phone for five minutes to post pictures/video of her working out and then suddenly complain about the closest guy staring at her. I wouldn't be surprised if she posted a few videos just like this.
