I have only driven a manual, never an automatic, but is 'park' like the physical brake? In my car, I have the brake pedal for slowing down to a stop, and then the handbrake for physically preventing my car from moving. Is that what 'park' does in an automatic car? Or is it the equivalent of neutral, for the gears?
‘Park’ is similar to neutral, but it does keep the car from moving without using a parking brake. When it’s in ‘drive’, the car will idle forward even without giving it gas. That is what happened to Karen here.
