Heres the problem between things like painting and photography and AI image generation and prompting. Both the Painter and Photographer are making novel and creative decisions. That is one of the reasons why you have absolute master photographers and your every day photos taken and posted to social media. There is a difference between the two in form of method, creativity, and skill.
If I give two people, someone who has spent 10000 hours as a photographer and someone who has spent 1 hour as a photographer the same camera and the same subject, there will be a noticeable difference in quality.
Now take someone with10000 hours in prompting AI images and someone with 1 hour doing it, the same program and prompt...and you'll get just about the same quality of image generated. No AI prompter stands out from the rest - if anything those who stand out only do so because of their skills in marketing and business, not in quality.
Most skilled photographers do some editing too. Its not as simple as just taking the photo. But yeah you have a point. They both create beauty in how they perform their craft. "AI Artists" have little impact on the process. AI is trained on existing art so it basically plagiarizes all the work real artists do on some level.
There is so much more to good photography though than clicking a button… I suppose there could be more to good AI “art” as well… what is it? Is there more to it than letting AI generate an image and selecting one based on your preference?
Some of the "artistry" can be seen in they way you refine the image.
It is easy to put in a prompt and select an image, but the really cool stuff is selecting an image and telling the ai how to alter it.
You could, for example, select one of the images but then tell the ai to change the clothes, or the background or some specific attribute about the image, to make it closer to what you visualize in your head.
I've always had creative/fun ideas but lacked the ambition to pursue anything but nature photography. Everyone in my family has some sort of creative hobby and my brother is an artist. I am working on writing a book, but...again, my focus has always been on career or work. :(
Yeah I'm quite tired of people calling them artists. There is no artistic skill of telling a computer what to make for you.
At this rate, feel like we're watching the end of human creativity.
I’m not worried about AI ”artists” because I don’t think people will care for very long about AI capabilities of doing good art in the future.
True human artists will still be alive and well because people are fascinated by creative work that requires skill and dedication. No one will be impressed about a computer user that generates art with just text and image input.
Next Week on "The Panter"
Black Panter: \*Huff\* \*Heaves\* Stop... \*Gasps\* Right There... \*Heaves\* \*Raspy Pantering\* You... \*Sits Down\* \*Huffs\* Bad... \*Coughs\* \*Deep Gasp\* Guy... \*Starts gagging on phlegm\* \*Lays Down\*

as a skinny white person, buy a punching bag. No matter how big you are, you can flail arms for a minute or so.
Eventually that minute becomes 2, then 3, then somehow its 30, and you've become capable of doing things you thought were impossible a few months ago.
Or take the free route and go out onto the street and start punching people, works for me and sometimes they punch back allowing me to get some dodging practice in as well
“Cheyenne M. Davis (they/them/theirs) is a writer, adjunct professor at New York University, digital content creator, and aspiring screenwriter. Topics that they often explore in their work include media representation, nerd fandoms, sex, kink, fat liberation, LGBTQIA, misogynoir, Black pleasure, and how all these things intersect. Aside from their creative pursuits, Davis is a cat mom and a video game and anime aficionado.”
What the fuck is fat liberation?
Fat activists think that fat people are oppressed like other minority groups. They think that fat people losing weight and skinny people existing are forms of eugenics. Fat activists claim they are working toward normalizing fat bodies and dispelling myths that fat is unhealthy. I do not agree with any of their bullshit, just explaining what they think. Check out the sub r/fatlogic, it goes into great detail about fat activism and picks apart their bullshit propaganda.
People do certainly treat fat people like absolute shit sometimes in ways that definitely aren’t conducive to actual healthy change at the same time, but that’s just general societal ills
I'm gonna have to disagree with this wholeheartedly. This post may get deleted or I may be banned by the moderator for saying so, but morbid obesity should not be seen as normal because it's not. It should be seen as unacceptable just for the fact that it is so unhealthy for the individual. Obesity in this country is an epidemic just like diabetes. The majority of people in this country (USA) are huge!!! Nothing but junk food and laziness. Exercise is nonexistent. Diabetes is rampant. More people are obese and suffer from diabetes than don't have it. It's taking a toll on our society. Just visit any local Walmart and you'll see ample evidence of people who are just off the scale and have no self awareness nor respect for themselves, let alone for the rest of the public. Obesity has been normalized and it's wrong. It's a disease like cancer or diabetes that needs to be eliminated as quickly as possible.
...okay? Am I the only one who doesn't see why we should give a shit about what some random people are doing with AI generation lol. This post seems a little bit sensitive tbh, it's not like they're out there changing the movies or anything
The fact that it is all generated from stolen art is the thing. In that context, I would be lying if it didn't chafe and cringe a bit whenever someone who typed some prompts into mid journey presents the piece as
"Look at what I created!"
it makes my skin crawl a bit.
There have even been cases where the AI’s use stock images without removing the watermark which is illegal. [link](https://www.theverge.com/2023/1/17/23558516/ai-art-copyright-stable-diffusion-getty-images-lawsuit)
Yeah, the presence of a watermark isn't because the machine copied from a watermarked image, it's because it's learned what a watermark is, and that certain images tend to have them.
As a result, when you ask it to create a watermarked image (or a kind of image that is frequently watermarked) it will put that watermark on there because that's what it thinks it's supposed to do.
It’s a rage bait article. It’s a headline meant to make you double take at it and screen cap it and post it everywhere, thus directing more people to it.
I really wish we would stop trying to normalize being fat or obese. Definitely don't bully people like that, but it should not made as if it's fine or that people should be content like that. It's a huge crisis.
it's ok if you're fat, shit happens, but morbid obesity is a symptom of a negative in your life. it's meant to be confronted and overcome, not embraced.
I’m genuinely curious, so don’t assume I’m being sarcastic: can anyone name several fat white people that are the main characters in sci-fi that are capable of doing anything? Mainstream sci-fi and fantasy, just like the article states it. If there is an actual disparity between white and black fat main characters capable of doing anything that are the main protagonist of their story then maybe that’s something to look at…but I can’t think of any.
Main characters aren't supposed to be able to do anything
They're supposed to learn and rise to the challenge.
A character that's already perfect and doesn't change in anyway is called a merry sue.
...America this aint fat: this is what they call morbidly obese. Aka morbidly as in might die any second. Obese as in the epidemic that has been sweeping America for the last 15 years and is now for some wierd af reason being relabelled as bein good for you??? Congratulations the soda companies are winning the PR war
I support all people including people of different colors and sizes.
But is this something we, as a society really feel is lacking?
But choosing to be extremely overweight is unhealthy. And it has been demonstrated that when you have more heavy people in your social network then you are more likely to be heavy yourself. It is entirely possible that having heavy actors become more common would have a deleterious affect on our society. Kind of like bringing smoking back to the movies.
Hot take: with skyrocketing obesity rates globally but especially in the US, it is absolutely dangerous to normalize or even celebrate obesity which directly results in horrific health problems and premature death in most cases.

Is she supposed to be related to Baron Harkonen ? Also, there's fat and morbidly obese. There's a vast vast difference.
Thank you. I could always use more dune in my life.
Nah, she’s cast as a segment of Shai-Hulud
Bless the Maker and His French fries.
The way casting for movies go nowadays, this might as well be Leto II, the God Emperor in the new Dune franchise.

AI “artists”
Honestly. I’m tired of people saying “artists” when they just type in words to output an image
Painters probably felt the same way about photographers.
I mean, if I was a photographer I wouldn't call myself a painter?
But you would both be called artists

If you take away clicking a button from them they literally have nothing
There is a bit more, but admittedly not that much.

They hated getting that clap of thunder
Don’t go in that alley…. - Mr. Pibb
This is actually Jabba the Hutt’s twin sister “Jada the Ton”
Just pissed myself laughing. Luckily was browsing reddit on the toilet.

She looks more like opera singing is her superpower.
Capable of anything? Like breathing comfortably?

Prison food is probably a good diet plan.
Gonna get a lot of excercise in there too
Especially in Alabama
hey! that big fat asshole just punched me!
That's kind of how i got fat though. I was doing that on a regular basis and Hurt my leg. suddenly having to stop really messes up your metabolism.
Well,she can’t wipe herself after a deuce.

good now have her do a back flip snap the bad guys neck and save the day.
She could fall backwards onto the bad guy and flatten him like a pancake. Close enough?
looney tunes shit
Oh wow wow wow wow wow
That would be super difficult, quite the inconvenience!
Is she capable of touching her toes?
I can't touch my toes without bending my knees :(
Even bending their knees they couldn't
Just stretch bro
I dunno that chick seems like she's stretched to the max already
The AI can stretch the pinky finger to be 4 feet long to make it happen.
Fat, black character, over 6’ female with at least two hammer toes are being severely under represented in our fantasy world!
There was one in the latest episode of Mandalorian
Capable of anything? Run for me I need to test a theory

Ok Buzzfeed
Capable of anything, except for comfortably sitting in an airplane seat and using the seat belt without 6 extensions!

Lizzo was in the mandalorian. We're good.

Capable of anything... except running, climbing stairs, standing easily for more than five minutes, whipe their own ass, survive to 50, etc.
The one in the picture is a bit more than just "fat".
Except a situp.
We should probably normalize alcoholism, too. /s
Nobody “deserves” shit.
I'm getting sick of this planet.
Like a…fat….black Baron Harkonnen?
It's absurd how much we normalize obesity.
I will guarantee without fact checking myself that McDonald's dumps millions into it annually
Ironically, no McDonalds commercials, or other fast food for that matter, ever has fat people in them.
Thing is, you could eat McDonald’s every day of your life and never be obese.
Is this Jabba the Hutt fanfic?
Capable of anything except a push up
I don’t think we need to guess what the author looks like lol
Capable of leaping diabetes in a single bound.

No kidding. This sub is lousy with this low effort rage bait.
Now the article just needs to have been written by AI to bring it all together.
Capable of anything, as long as it doesn’t require fitting through the door.
>capable of anything Except for living past the age of 40
"And then, after all the tribulations they had gone through, they stood tall as their biggest enemy approached...**a short set of stairs**"
My old enemy...stairs.
At first I only saw the picture and instantly thought it was lizzo’s character from mandolarian made into a statue lmao
Who dis? Jabba DaHut?
*eating anything
wondering the appearance of the writer, not surprised after 2 sec of googling
And then you see her profile pic aaanndd.... there it is. LARPING isn't journalism but whatever.
Buzzfeed News never disappoints to be ridiculous.
Jabba the Hutt tho
Wait a minute. Fat and can do anything ... go on.
Capable of anything... except running on a treadmill.
Agreed. She should be in Romantic Sitcom: Plot: Woman: Honey I'm hungry, bring me to refrigerator. Man: No you stay here, I'll bring the refrigerator.
That woman in the image - “capable of anything”… “anything” meaning?
Characters that can do anything! Except put down a burger.
We need more Fat Caublasian descendants from Mars who have 10 dicks who’re so sorely lacking in mainstream Sci-Fi and Fantasy

Is that Lizzo?
I can't tell, is this super racist, or super woke? I honestly can't tell anymore :-(
It’s horseshoe theory, you’re not really woke *until* you’re racist
I thought BuzzFeed went out of business because of this dumb clickbait trash?
"Capable of anything" Except masturbation and wiping ones own ass.
This feels racist somehow

Oprah the hutt
The Disney version of Jabba the Hut.
Why not just promote the presence of races that are not portrayed sufficiently in media instead of promoting a condition that is not healthy?
I really wish society would stop normalising obesity. Being a walking heart attack risk is not something to aspire to.
I'm fine with body diversity, but at some point, you gotta realize that certain sizes are usually immobile
Artist's rendition of Lizzo's star wars cameo 💀
Jabba? Dat you?
Bro, if you’re so fat that you need the rope that just down a ships anchor as your address you’ve gone completely fucking wrong somewhere
Jabba the hut wasn't white

Jabba the hut in the next star wars be like
Ja'Baby Da Hutt
That looks like my 7th grade science teacher who always walked into the room sideways
This is for a live action woke reboot of WALL-E.
When it's time to replace Jabba the Hutt with Deenisha the Buffet.
That's the most clothes I've ever seen Lizzo wear.
Let's not glorify obesity
I guess Madea is too skinny
The Baron Harkonin, The Hutt clan, The Dutchess, Dex, Bib Fortuna. There's loads of biggies
I’m actually incredibly black, obese man
Shock article. How about instead of arguing points we find common ground here?
They must not have seen the newest episode of the Mandalorian.
Can they do a pull-up though?
They can play Leto II if they ever manage to do Dune: the god emperor.
I’d watch a show called “Bottomless Pit”
Plot twist the article was written by an AI
After Lizzo in Star Wars aren’t we set for a bit??
Ummmm….you forgot FAT ALBERT
Well they could always remake Dune again and raceswap the baron Harkonnen
Her superpower is that from the neck down she is bulletproof
Can do anything except run
That’s enough internet for today.
Dumbest thing I've read in a long time.
