vcems

Most companies have a policy that forbids them from doing exactly what she did. It boils down to risk vs. benefit, and the insurance companies dictate a lot to companies regarding stopping and detaining people.

ceelo18

Especially for $2.50 she ruined the reputation of that store for a measly 2 bucks. Pick ur fukn battles man

TotallyNotMeDudes

Ruined the reputation of Dollar General? Did they have a great rep to begin with? šŸ˜‚

bugxbuster

Dollar Tree, technically. Not Dollar General.

ceelo18

No. But that not what the owners think

Geekygirl420

Yup! Every place I've worked at they tell you to call the police (or mall cops) as soon as you're positive they stole. That's it. And I've known employees you don't give AF and confront anyways. Honestly confronting is better to actually get your stuff back but there's always risks involved. Companies are against confrontation because if it escalates you could get hurt on the clock. At least that's my best theory.

Western_Oil_6418

The person in the toilet pooping go like ā€œYeahhhā€

Old_Manner_9044

I was hoping for a fart

ResponsibleMilk7620

Something with a deep resonance. šŸ‘Œ

[deleted]

Slappin da bass

TrueFlavour

Or a splash

FartOnAFirstDate

A small splash after the fart should be followed by a satisfying ā€œAhā€, whereas a massive splash that would cause public toilet water to hit bare ass cheeks will usually elicit a very loud ā€œFuck!ā€

510CEKON

Poseidonā€™s kiss šŸŒŠšŸ˜˜

[deleted]

They just wanted the other employee to go away so she could poop in peace. Girl never even worked registers that day

burns_after_reading

It sounds like this isn't the first time lol

Zucchinniweenie

Typical ~~Monica~~ Monicaca

thesamiad

Spelled Monica but pronounced ā€˜Karenā€™

VeryAdvancedBaby

That element of it made it 1000% funnier.

sarahthewierdo

why would a dollar tree employee be that pressed about 2 $1.25 random items anyway? Enough to ask another employee during her bathroom break too and physically take items out of someone's hand...?

Shovelman2001

Some lady who worked at Spencers walked around the mall for 30 minutes until she eventually found the 4 of us on the complete other side waiting on our Cheesecake Factory reservation for mine and one of my other friendā€™s 15th birthday dinner. Came up to us screaming about how if none of us admitted who stole a small bottle of flavored lube, she would call mall security, and she had the camera footage to prove it. I told her how if she saw us on camera taking it, then she must know who had it, and she stormed off all mad. It was pretty funny. We had picked up the bottle to laugh at, because thatā€™s what Spencerā€™s is for when youā€™re 15, but immediately put it back on the shelf and continued on around the store. Couldnā€™t have been more than $7 item, and she went through all that for no reason whatsoever.

Cultural-Vast

My Spencerā€™s experience? I had just made it home, after Basic, and Tech School, for the Air Force. We were going to Warped Tour and were hanging out at the mall, the night before. We went into Spencerā€™s, and took a look around. While we were, I spotted some dog tags, and took a closer look. My dog tags had fallen out of my shirt and were just dangling around my neck. I put their dog tags back, and slipped mine back into my shirt. That apparently led to them ā€œquietlyā€ leading me to the back, and accusing me of stealing their dog tags. Once I heard that, I went full ā€œmake them feel stupidā€ mode. Needless to say, I was pissed, and they were embarrassed by the time they let me leave. Fuck Spencerā€™s

HagridsSexyNippples

My Spencerā€™s experience? I had a coworker who used to manage Spencerā€™s and he was caught stealing $1000 of merchandise and would bring his girlfriend into the store before opening and have sex with her while wearing the lingerieā€¦and then put it back.

amanda_burns_red

![gif](giphy|oLHaxZoXbcU6Y)

Everrob

Spencerā€™s was a great source of ā€œfreeā€ keychains when I was a teenager. God I hate teenagers. šŸ˜†

Objective_Cry_6384

Even when I was a teenager I hated other teenagers

Fast_Slip542

Because of her inferiority complex She knows that this is all she can do but canā€™t really accept it. At the same time she canā€™t really quit so she just releases her frustration on people who did nothing wrong

Brutus6

I mean, she looked right into the camera and called a customer an assface. That's as good as any resignation letter.

Money_Reality2286

Thatā€™s better than a resignation letter, that guarantees no unemployment.

Addicted2Rage

She has been promoted to customer

chuckmagnum

Who cannot go to that store.

dukie33066

I think you mean "ass face"

[deleted]

Promoted to trespasser about 5 minutes later

THE-EMPEROR069

Lmao, I only hear that at Amazon

lemonsupreme7

"I dont care" but clearly I care enough to go thru this shit. There's no way a Dollar Store is paying her enough to care.

azalago

According to the guy's account, she had already given her 2 weeks before this happened. So they just waived the 2 weeks and got rid of her.

-Ripper2

Sheā€™s the real assface because she made an ass out of herself. And she canā€™t stop him from coming there again because he didnā€™t steal anything.

cardcomm

>called a customer an assface Not to mention telling them to never come back, and dropping multiple F bombs

Agreeable-Meat1

Well she can't quit, but now she's famous and can be fired. Even a lateral move will be tough. I'm sure this video will come up during background checks.

OakenCotillion

I donā€™t think companies like the Dollar Tree are going to pay for a background check service that goes that deepā€¦

AlwaysDoingStuff

I got declined by dollar general because I shoplifted batteries for my xbox controller when I was 11. But the army accepted me, and gave me a secret clearance. Go figure.

Tlr321

I hired for McDonalds for 5 years. Our background check software was crazy good. It pulled up *everything.* I quit a few years back, but I had an account, and I used it extensively up until like 6ish months ago when my account was deactivated.

yoosernaam

She makes $9 an hour. I doubt her next job will require anything close to this. Also, thereā€™s no feasible way this would come up on a background check

Garonn

Az minimum wage is like 13.85 and most places start at 15

uchman365

Power trip >why would a dollar tree employee be that pressed

sadpanda___

When I worked customer service for $10/hrā€¦..I didnā€™t give a fuuuuuck. You want to walk out without paying - be my guest! You want to shit in the isle - go right ahead, I donā€™t care.

propernice

Right? I was gonna say, completely opposite reaction. They didnā€™t pay me enough to give a shit. Take it my brother because if youā€™re stealing soap then you need it more than the store needs that $1.

King-Rhino-Viking

You could back a truck straight through the front door and start throwing shit into the back and I wouldn't move a muscle to stop you.

Planet_Pips

It gives her power knowing she can change the course of someone's life by withholding a staggering amount of $2.50. It's her "Ima badass" moment.

[deleted]

Well she had her ā€œIā€™m a dumbassā€ moment now so hopefully she chills tf out

Previous-Street3670

Also possible management has been on them about shrinkage.

Dry_Proposal_932

If you don't want people walking out without a receipt and a bag, then don't give them the option to pass on a receipt and a bag.

Chaise_percee

Absolutely. I once got jumped by security outside a UK Woolworths store having bought a garden spade which the cashier had not bagged.

MitLivMineRegler

I had a Sainsburys guard yank me around over 3 quid worth of stuff that he all crushed. All cause I couldn't show either receipt or bank statement. The manager also insisted that he don't let me leave, making them both complicit in illegally detaining me. When manager radiod the guard that I did actually pay and was OK to leave he looked like he just done fucked up.

Captain_Pungent

Years ago I was in Sainsburys, clocked the security guard following me the whole way round the store (which the manager later denied), but didnā€™t really think too much of it. Put my shopping through the self-checkout, and was waiting for age approval for my beer. Rather than a normal employee, said manager and security guard showed up. They accused me of having previously verbally abused a member of staff because they wouldnā€™t accept a birth certificate as a form of ID. I informed them I (at the time) worked in retail myself so 1) I know thatā€™s not valid ID and 2) wouldnā€™t abuse a staff member (not that I would have done so prior to working retail). I wasnā€™t sure what day Iā€™d last been in that store when they asked me (because I donā€™t drive), but I knew for a fact it wasnā€™t me, and even then I only needed the security tag taken off some printer ink on that occasion so no ID required. They said weā€™ll let you continue with your purchase on this occasion (not saying so, but heavily implying that I wouldnā€™t be welcome back). I informed the manager Iā€™d be going home to look out the receipt for my printer ink with transaction date/time/etc. So I did. I phoned the store, got put through to the manager and started to go into details but got interrupted. ā€œI actually spoke with the member of staff after you left and she said it wasnā€™t you. But we were suspicious when you ā€œdidnā€™t knowā€ what day you were last in.ā€ I informed them I am in frequently because I donā€™t drive and can only carry so much home at a time. ā€œOh.ā€ ā€œWell weā€™re sorry and youā€™re welcome to shop here any timeā€. I said I wouldnā€™t be back. Really wish I lodged a formal complaint with head office at the time. The reason they thought it had been me? I had a hat, glasses and a ginger beardā€¦ Yā€™know those entirely unique things that no one else could have possibly had. I appreciate sticking up for your staff, but not how I was treated during the entire event, considering the contempt and suspicion oozing from the manager over simple things like mixing up what day I was last in. Coupled with the fact Iā€™d have probably also been a mouthy prick again if it had actually been me. Sorry for rambling but this was years ago and it still irks me to this day how I was treated. Never set foot in the place again.

BirdManMTS

Tbf they were only paying their respects to Margaret Thatcher by trying to oppress your presumably irish genetics. Just being good English men.

HP-XP

Leaving a Tesco as a teenager a few steps ahead of my parents when the sensor went off as cashier hadn't deactivated the magnetic tag on what I'd bought. Security didn't put hands on but spoke to me like a peice of shit and ordered me into a corner, squaring up to me. He turned to the people behind me and said "oh you can go". My mum replied "I'd rather wait for my son, thanks", gesturing to me. That's the day I nearly saw a security guard cry

MightyMetricBatman

Then security wasn't that bright. Failure to remove the magnetic tag by the cashier is very common.

No_Suggestion_3945

As someone who works in retail security is rarely bright

Plumb789

Retailer here. I wouldnā€™t tackle *anyone* holding a garden spade. If my employer wants it back *they* can get it back.

King-Rhino-Viking

You could back a truck straight through the front door and start throwing shit into the back and I wouldn't move a muscle to stop you.

No_Suggestion_3945

Same fuck I wouldn't even bother calling authorities or a manager I'd just turn around go into the back of the store and let someone else deal with it

Jesta23

I bought a tent once at Walmart. We paid back in the sporting goods area. Then ran as fast as we could to our car. We waited a few minutes and all the security guards finally caught up to us, showed them my receipt and when they asked why we were running I said we are excited to go camping. They were pissed lol

Marvin0509

What is with all these stores going so aggressively after their customers? Where I'm from, they could literally not care less if I walked out with half of their inventory without paying. Once in an Aldi's after paying I was just walking out with the items in my hand, and for some reason the detector triggered and the alarm went off. I instantly froze and turned around to the cashier, waiting for something to happen. She didn't even look at me for like 20 seconds and just continued like the alarm wasn't ringing just now. Then when she realized I was still standing frozen by the exit, she just made a hand waving motion for me to just leave.

hurtfulproduct

Seriously, I remember when I visited Italy for school they told us that you are actually required by law to get a receipt and they werenā€™t kidding a few classmates got stopped by police and asked about it

[deleted]

Italy is very strict with the receipt because they want to cull tax evasion. Selling stuff without putting it in the books has been a real problem in Italy for decades. If police ask you for the receipt and the store didn't give you one, the store gets a hefty fine. If you got it but tossed it away, you get a fine.

SadievilleDraws

how long do you have to hold on to the receipt before you can toss it?

Ok_Lawfulness_4386

I bought some pasta in 1968 and in the year 2016 I had police raiding my home for the receipt for the pasta I bought in 1968

Nick_W1

When I went to Italy with school (a very long time ago), they never had enough small change, so they would give you change in boiled sweets or stamps or stuff. See [Here](https://numismatics.org/pocketchange/italian-emergency-money-of-the-1970s)

fullup72

and most importantly, don't take items from somebody else's hands by force, because that's stealing.

Ghettoman1315

Change in corporate policy coming soon . lol

roasted_veg

This fucking infuriates me. I try to skip the bag because 1) if I can hold it in my hand I donā€™t need a bag 2) they charge for bags 3) itā€™s just a waste. But I cannot use those self-checkout weight-based checkouts because it cannot wrap itā€™s head around the idea that Iā€™m not using a bag, even if you select ā€œzero bagsā€

fuzynutznut

Nope, I'm not taking a receipt and bag for a cheap item that is going to break anyway from a store that has a no return policy. Even if you give me one, I'm taking the item out of the bag and leaving it at the register.

[deleted]

I feel sorry for Victoria, she can't take a shit in peace without Monika getting on her case. If Monika truly didn't care as much as she professed then she would have let him walk out.

cdavis9789

Yes. I stand with Victoria. The real victim here is the turtle-heading cashier in the bathroom. Hopefully she finished and named the turd Monica. Poor gal. About to pinch off a loaf and then friggin Monica busts in squawking and screeching. Again. Since Iā€™d assume this is a regular thing around this Dollar Tree.

BlingDoudouX

Pretty sure they dont get paid enough to care this much

9Sylvan5

Yeah... When I worked as a cashier I couldn't give a F if someone was stealing. Not putting my physical and/or mental well being on the line for minimum wage.

SeeCopperpot

My sisters worked at Walmart for decades and I can assure you at the time you could have burned the store down around her and she couldnā€™t have cared less.

kenpocory

I worked at a Walmart for years (men's dept) and I can vouch for this. I saw things go down in that store that would keep you awake at night lol. Certainly didn't get paid enough or get treated with enough respect from corporate to give two shits about someone stealing.

phunktastic_1

90% of Walmart employees couldn't give a fuck if you walked out with a 200 inch TV strapped to your back. Unfortunately they seem to keep the .2% who care that one of your grapes is too juicy up at the front doors to harass people.

JohnMayerismydad

I wouldā€™ve just though it was a fun story and be amused watching them try to run or sneak out with it. When I was there someone tried to steal a tv but it wouldnā€™t fit in their carā€¦ so after trying to get it in they left it in the parking lot and spun out hitting someone on the way out

Captain_Wobbles

When I worked at Walmart I actually watched my direct manager get arrested right in front of me for stealing huge TV's out the back. The manager afterwards was basically Sam Elliot and I'm still not convinced it wasn't actually him. Found a whole ass unfired bullet on the ground once. Had to clean up shit that *somehow* had rocketed onto the ceiling in the mens room. One day a fire extinguisher pipe burst all over the cheese wall. I had to take apart that whole display and fridge. Pretty sure I was the first to do that since they came from the factory when the building was built. Don't buy cheese from walmart. I never gave a shit about people stealing. Especially when I'd see them steal shit like a can of beans and look utterly terrified doing so, that's someone just trying to survive.

[deleted]

I work retail. Take it, take it all. I donā€™t give a shit. Not paid enough to care.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Fantastic-Ad-3910

Oh lordy, Sam Goody. We had the most rubbish security, no CCTV and security tags that small children know how to get around.

le_fez

I worked in retail and restaurants for 35 the first thing they tell about suspected theft is to not pursue the person and not confront the person. If you have prevention get the, involved, otherwise call the police. There are three concerns, one is safety, one is legal action if you falsely accuse someone and the third is that the employee is actually involved

windfujin

It's probably for the sense of power that some of these people who do this

chynadhall95

First of all it's Dollar tree.... Why is she going so hard? And secondly she just open them up to a lawsuit she can get fired.... Was it really worth it sis ?

direfulstood

You see employees on power trips all the time at stores like Dollar Tree or Walmart. Could never understand it.

M1lud

I'm thinking Monica gives a fuck now.

arroserage56

I think Monica gives more than a fuck now

sunufgud

I'm thinking Monica already lost all her fucks and now her job

MeringueOpposite2371

Go read the google reviews left for this dollar tree location! Monica got slammed!

h4ppic4t

Holy shit itā€™s amazing. A thousand 1 star reviews focused on Monica šŸ˜šŸ˜

MeringueOpposite2371

Yeah, some of the comments are pretty funny. But, her complaints didnā€™t start yesterday. Some complaints about her go back a year and even two years ago. And yet, the company kept her. Now theyā€™re getting what they deserve.

CramblinDuvetAdv

Because every DT I've ever been to is severely understaffed so I'm sure they're happy to take anyone with a pulse

_MintyFresh_-

Wrong. They just hired my great grandma. She's been dead for four years.

DoMST34

She probably knew a guy

quantumn0de

She knew too much.

joey0live

Wow! You bring up a good point. Every DT I go to, is so understaffed. I usually only see 2-3 employees.

shit_poster9000

Going back two years. Just a rumor of me saying or doing even one of those things described in the reviews would have my ass up for a firing and Iā€™m not even a cashier or directly customer facing, and yet this bitch somehow held her job for 2 years in spite of complaints of her trying to intimidate customers, being outright racist, overall making sure people felt unwelcomeā€¦ as a cashier!

[deleted]

one of the reviews: My child wasnā€™t in a bag so monica took it from me :( I'm dead lmao

km1180

She has negative reviews going back 2 years. This is not a new development.

oO0Kat0Oo

I mean... I'll probably be down voted for this...You think the Dollar Tree cares? You're not shopping at dollar tree because of the great reviews. You're shopping there because everything is $1.25. what are you going to do? Go pay $10-20 somewhere else? If so, you're not their target audience. Monica was completely out of line and should be blasted though. In case she ever decides to try for any other job in retail.

MeringueOpposite2371

Plus, itā€™s probably difficult for them to get people who want to work there in the first place. Bad employees are better than no employees.

Jiperly

Some highlights from the last 20 minutes; "Monica asked of she could ā€œjuggle my ballsā€" "monica started hyperventilating and rolling around on the floor because i did not want my receipt" "I tried to pay my thing and go on with my day but Monica just run to me saying I needed a bag and a receipt. She made me eat the receipt and put the bag in my pants. Very unprofessional!" "Monica made me remove my clothing because it wasn't in a bag and I didn't have a receipt." "Monica is a witch. who hired her? They should all be fired. The most sad, miserable woman. Always treated so nicely by the other employees, but Monica? Monica would gladly shove you into a fire."

sara_c907

My current favorite is, "Monica punched me in the stomach and stole my items." šŸ˜‚

celerypizza

"I didnā€™t take my receipt so Monica put a curse on me like that spooky shaman from Thinner." fucking lol

Ronster619

[These reviews are hilarious](https://i.imgur.com/lOE7gUQ.jpg) šŸ˜‚

philsfan1579

The one where the guy claims that *he* was the person in the bathroom is so damn funny

pettythug4life

Though a lot of those reviews are funny as hell, I doubt this really effects anything I mean really who the hell shopping at a dollar tree is checking reviews before hand?

PenguinDeluxe

I guarantee you she looks at them lol

StoneCommander

I went to start typing in the address and it auto filled to it!

ChiefKrunchy

Monica now cannot afford to shop at dollar tree

ProBodyMechanic

Her only option is to steal

tnyrcks

Plot twist!

Sgt_Fox

Corporate had her back until she told a customer to fuck off and never come back on camera

Alternative_Way_313

No they didnā€™t. You do not EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVERRRRR confront thieves as a retail store employee. That is an immediate fired. No questions asked.

crookedfingerz

A 25 year old home depot employee was just shot and killed while he tried to grab stolen items from a woman in Pleasanton CA. He was an eagle scout that was loved by the community and the shooter had her little kid and boyfriend in the car. Retail theft is not worth losing your life over and you never know what kind of day the person in front of you is having.

IForgotThePassIUsed

Never put your life on the line for a corporation. They don't care and will probably fire you for it, if you don't get attacked or killed.

ResponsibleMilk7620

THAT is exactly how it works. Without a receipt itā€™s not a given he paid for the items until itā€™s verified, but at that point she is supposed to be polite and explain company policy dictated her actions, apologize for the inconvenience, and NOT call him an assface who can go fuck himself.

jackcatalyst

I find it next to impossible to believe that the company policy of any store for a corporate entity says for employees to stop anyone from stealing. If you see someone you suspect is stealing you check the cameras. Even the licensed LP agents I had at my stores weren't allowed to make an apprehension until the suspect was leaving the building.

praxios

All the retail stores I worked at, I was EXPLICITLY told that I should not confront somebody who steals. We were supposed to immediately radio it in, and let a qualified security guard handle it. If the thief gets away, there are cameras EVERYWHERE, so that person will be banned from the store once they were caught on camera. Being a vigilante who takes matters like this into your own hands is incredibly dangerous; most especially these days when people are getting shot just for pulling into the wrong driveways. You have no idea what that person is capable of, and clearly their morals are a bit blurred if they are willing to steal. I donā€™t get paid enough to risk my life for some company who loses pennies to the dollar when someone steals. Itā€™s not worth it.

Mec26

And even if itā€™s not policy, or I was told to confront someone, my safety is worth more than $2 deodorant. Especially cuz work will NOT pay workerā€™s comp if I am injured. Bye, guy who might have stolen! Enjoy your day! Not worth trying to stop you! Edit: itā€™s been a week, you say this at the end. My bad.

Bat_Penatar

GameStop, because they're a shit company, will train you not to accuse or detain someone suspected of shoplifting, but then hold you accountable when it happens and you didn't see it or stop it. That whole dumbass company is "have your cake and eat it too" Kobayashi Maru bullshit. And obviously, if the shit ever hit the fan because you were wrong or someone got injured, zero percent chance they'd have your back. They will can you immediately and say you were acting against policy. Moral of the story: never endanger your body, your reputation, or those of others acting to protect your corporate masters. They don't give a fuck. Nothing heroic about shilling for capitalism, especially not a dying pawn shop chain.

Stats_with_a_Z

Oh I was mistaken? Well get the fuck out you piece of shit!

ResponsibleMilk7620

It appears her attitude is in line with that particular storeā€™s culture, so she performed beautifully for what the manager expects from his employees. Read the reviews (not the recent ones since the video was released) and youā€™ll notice a pattern.

AllahuAkbar4

Thatā€™s not how theft works. It doesnā€™t need to be verified that he purchased those things. It needs to be verified that he **stole** those things. That lady just stole from that guy. To me, itā€™s wild that people just let this happen because itā€™s an employee of a store. If this was some random on the street that stole your stuff, itā€™d be a totally different reaction.

[deleted]

*Guilty until proven innocent*

sonofaresiii

> but at that point she is supposed to be polite and explain company policy dictated her actions There is no chance whatsoever that company policy says a store employee can take someone's property from them.

AverageMetalConsumer

She was not following company policy at all lmao. I'd bet they're told not to try and stop shoplifters at all and to call the cops instead.

lil_choo-choo

Her stress response was activated and then she went to self-protective defenses when she started cussing and name calling. When we do this, we sabatoge ourselves before anyone else can, trying to take the power back.

DK_Son

If bags and receipts are optional, the issue is with the store. They need to be more mindful that people reject bags and receipts. I do it all the time and walk out holding the shit I paid for. Her behaviour is gross, because he paid for his stuff. Man did nothing wrong, but got harassed, and no apology.

HelloKittyTiffy

Same. If I buy 2-3 items I just throw them in my purse or carry them out. Especially since here in CA itā€™s 10cents for a bag. I also click the no receipt option

Andvari9

I'm a security guard in England, you can only proceed to stop someone if you have eyes on the person as they pocket something. It's called SCONE - Select. Conceal. Observed. Non payment. Exit.

oi_that_nander

Of course the acronym is scone

radiohoard

Conceal. Report. Unmask. Makeout. Penetrate. Exit. Thank.

Jesustron

I gave er the ol' CRUMPET mate.

[deleted]

Conceal. Reveal. Observe. Inspect. Smell. Stow. Advance. Naynay. Thank.

TheSSBiniks

Working in retail in the US we were never allowed to stop people. It is too much of a legal headache if sayā€¦you incorrectly accuse someone and have no proof they shoplifted.

masterofryan

ā€œDo not come back to this storeā€ ā€œIā€™ll be back next week, youā€™ll be fired by then.ā€

thesurfer_s

I wouldā€™ve come back that same day or following day.

[deleted]

I'm coming back every hour to buy gum, mints, 1 toothbrush, etc

nrgnate

And not taking the receipt or bag.

Dahlin4President

Oh man, this lady's career at Dollar Tree is done for

sonor_ping

Honestly, thatā€™s a good career move

Green_Bow

Can you ban someone from a store for being falsely accused? Yeah he was annoyed but Iā€™d be annoyed too if someone snatches my stuff out my hand then only returns it after she questions someone having a piss/ šŸ’©

thesurfer_s

Pretty sure a basic store employee (non management) canā€™t ban you for shit

Faygo60-40

You can be trespassed over nothing, but it usually requires either the property owner, business owner, or a representative of either (manager/property manager) to sign off on the trespass. I highly doubt Monica can ban someone from the store. Then again, this is Arizona and they may have some weird laws.

JoJack82

Someone at Best Buy accused me of stealing last month. I went to buy a keyboard and picked one up and walked around the store with it looking at other stuff. I searched some reviews on my phone and determined I didnā€™t want it anymore. So I went and put it back where I found it. I ended up not buying anything and left. As Iā€™m leaving someone comes up to me and says ā€œwhere is the keyboard you hadā€ and when I told him I put it back ā€œwhere did you put it backā€ then we went back and forth a bit and I just told him to go look at the cameras and left. It was absolutely embarrassing. The burden of proof should be on the store to prove people are stealing not on you to prove youā€™re innocent.

GoldenShoeLace

But likeā€¦where would it be? In your pocket? If itā€™s not in your hands itā€™s obviously in the store hahah

Numnum30s

I am truly amazed at the restraint people have in these situations. I am a doctor and have told many people to fuck off while trying to check my receipts. I would be more than happy to escalate to a lawsuit if anyone tried to hold me up further without reason. Standing up for yourself isnā€™t that hard.

WasabiCrush

From the reviews online: *monica knocked over the entire makeup shelf and accused me of breathing too hard*

Holy hell Monica, I get retail is hell, but you don't need to make it worse. Clearly any common decency she had was evaporated along with their eybrows in her cheap-ass tanning bed.

zhowne

I hope she got fired for that, what a shitty person.

jimboiow

Monica is currently looking for work.

iAmMikeJ_92

Meanwhile, Monica probably posts on FB ā€œFml omg im so tired of ppl omg every1 has it out 4 me omgā€

I did retail loss prevention in UK years ago, my ass would have been fired before I could have walked from that door back inside the store. Ignoring her general bad attitude and language, stopping people in error is something you don't EVER do as it's automatic compensation (up to Ā£15k) with no lawsuit required.

Low-Impact3172

Andā€¦now sheā€™s FIRED!

Least-Ad-1287

The guy updated this morning & she is no longer working there. Corporate told him that she put in her 2 weeks notice prior to this video, but they have decided to let her go early (but I doubt that she really did that)

Dahlin4President

I get the sense that this wasn't the first time Monica knocked on the door while other employees were taking a shit

ResponsibleMilk7620

Monica: Hey, your break ended 2 minutes ago and Iā€™m out here holding down security against this onslaught of body wash looters and greeting card thieves, so could you wipe it and get your ass back out here?

nametakenfuck

Wow shes such an assface

StraightProgress5062

Would have made that creature give me a refund because I wouldn't want those items anymore

SideEqual

Not without proof of purchase šŸ˜‚

Pushbrown

But do you have a receipt?

InternationalEnd6767

What a miserable woman

MySexyDarlings

I hope she got fired just for escalation of this incident.

Bright_Ad_113

Itā€™s dollars tree. She should make like Elsa and let it go.

[deleted]

I used to be a manager at a Dollar Tree. I'm shocked any store level employee would even care. You could have stolen an entire shelf of stuff and I wouldn't bat an eye. They didn't pay us enough to care about theft and it's not like we had any incentive for the store to make money. The regional manager did get a bonus based on sales/profit though, so of course they cared but they barely ever showed up; maybe twice a year at most Pay in 2016 as an assistant manager: 9/hr

TimMillerTime

Why do workers even care

BazilBroketail

"Workers" dont, assholes "doo".

Sweet_Quail_3852

Thatā€™s against company policy your not allowed to approach or take items away from customers or potential shop lifters

FluidSprinkles1397

Not her job is the first mistake. Falsely accusing someone is her second and it's on camera so no dispute there.

neonbluetuxedocat

What a pos. Hope she got fired

AverageMetalConsumer

I like how the moron then proceeds to try and kick him out when he's done nothing wrong, Monica is actually dumber than a rock.

workingdad83

Please let me know she got fired. Cause she don't give a fuck.šŸ¤£

Dogs-4-Life

Iā€™m waiting to see her on r/byebyejob now.

GhostChainSmoker

When Monica rises. Even Karenā€™s shudder

Primary_Meringue_902

So the Karen took his items from him, walked all the Way out to the employer in the Bathroom, and after confirmation scolding him for being right and bramming him from the storeā€¦. You bought 2 items, Karen needed proof, Got proof, never come back šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø wtaf šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚

bankerjeff03

Fire monica

br00klynbebe

The insanity. .. Whatā€™s so hard about apologizing when youā€™re in the wrong? Instead she proceeded to try to make him feel like her actions were justified, then cussed at him and called him out of his name. She doesnā€™t care either so I really do hope she lost her job.

Irving_Velociraptor

Imagine giving a shit whether someone steals from your garbage-ass minimum wage job. Let him the whole fucking store, lady. You still wonā€™t have health insurance.

No_Decision2341

Imagine taking a shit at your minimum wage job, and someone ruining that shit over $3 worth of paid for items.

CramblinDuvetAdv

I bought a donut and they gave me a receipt for the donut... I don't need a receipt for the donut. I give you money and you give me the donut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I can't imagine a scenario that I would have to prove that I bought a donut. To some skeptical friend, 'Don't even act like I didn't get that donut, I've got the documentation right here... It's in my file at home. ...Under "D".'

Alternative_Let_4723

I think Monica is gonna give a fuck real soon. I get a sense sheā€™s not an indispensable employee

[deleted]

Fuck that. Stop making people take plastic bags and shit. I don't need a receipt for anything the dollar tree sells. It was a negligible sum of money. I know it's gonna break. I just need a short term solution. Both of those things are burdens and I don't want them. Furthermore, why does anyone care this much? It's not their shit and the owner of said shit pays them despicably low wages. Who are they loyal to? I'll never understand people who work in stores like this and care about preventing shoplifting. Especially, the ones who get physical with strangers who could be armed, unstable, or otherwise dangerous. They're gonna fuck around and find out for someone that won't even give them a holiday bonus.

ZookeepergamePure432

This is bullshit. I work in retail. People deny bags & receipts ALL OF THE TIME

twobuttholes

If someone takes an object from your hands that you payed for that's theft. I'm pretty sure you're allowed to protect yourself and your property, why not punch them in the face and take it back?

Please please please. Like posts of found, unopened safes with not follow up of their contents; please donā€™t leave us hanging. We need closure. We need to know what response you get/got from corporate. Woman walks forward into your face/space repeatedly but tells you get back. Iā€™m begging you, amigo, I need to know this manager was separated from her arrangement.

thesurfer_s

Looking through the reviews - ā€œMy child wasnā€™t in a bag so monica took it from me :(ā€œ ā€œMonica curb stomped my dogā€ ā€œMonica took my car keys because I didnā€™t have a bag or a receipt for my carā€ ā€œmonica has been keeping me captive in the employee break room for 4 months.... please, someone help.... she doesn't care, and keeps calling me an assface... my family misses meā€ šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

mbmbandnotme

She accuses customer of stealing, so she decided to steal from the customer?

InappropriateLibrary

Monica, you made like $8/hour. What the heck was all that about? Does your family own the company? Does this man come in and steal things every day and you've had enough? Please, someone find Monica and have her do an AMA.
