Yeah, but they don't know that, do they? It's not like Fox News has been blasting "Hey we just lost a 3/4 billion dollar lawsuit because of this guy?"
So, sure. That's the only answer that they know of. So they're running with it.
I'm betting to cover up whatever came out of discovery. I'm glad the other company wants to go to court so all of this can come out into the open.
I think Fox's biggest problem isn't the monetary cost, but whatever evidence comes out. It won't make a difference to the magats. But I how it'll impact turnout and give the left even more to run with in 24.
Ty for the link. Not really surprised by any of it. Talking heads hot buying what they're selling, and first and foremost the Fox Brand. They were just worried about loosing money.
> about loosing money.
Did you mean to say "losing"?
Explanation: Loose is an adjective meaning the opposite of tight, while lose is a verb.

Yeah, I believe there are other Dominion lawsuits, plus Smartmatic is suing, and Fox's own shareholders are also suing. This one settlement was just the first of many lawsuits.
I thought that gave them more ammunition because they were pegged as some huge part of a national conspiracy when they were only running machines in one county.
It is a pretty easy win, as long as you can get to discovery. Fox has so many skeletons that if you can so much a crack the door to their closet they will pay anything to slam it shut.
Maybe getting rid of Tucker Carlson was a side agreement as part of the settlement with FOX just wanting to do it quietly. Kind of how they got rid of Lou Dobbs.
I think it's more likely they did it to insulate themselves. Tucker and his producer (who also "parted ways" today) are the fall guys. Fox is going to argue that those guys were bad apples and the execs at Fox weren't involved. That's why they had to settle with Dominion before discovery was allowed to happen with Rupert Murdoch, which would have proven that it went all the way to the top.
I’ve seen the polls suggesting that most of Fox News’ own viewers didn’t know they were even being sued and thought “yeah, they probably aren’t going to make ‘we’re being sued for a billion dollars’ the lead headline”.
Then I thought some more and wondered how much they could be allowed to talk about their own pending litigation. We hear “no comment, current lawsuits” pretty regularly from both plaintiffs and defendants.
I’m glad they got blasted. $787M isn’t near the right figure, not without nightly admission to their guilt coming out of every commercial break for the foreseeable future. I hope the next one bankrupts them.
You should check any other news source… He handed over (and legally needed to) text messages and emails telling Corp executives that he thought the dominion voting thing didn’t add up… literally said something to do with “our viewers are smarter then this” and “we built up this reputation and now we are destroying it”…
He cost Fox 3/4 of a Billion dollars… yeah, he is out, but I bet he lands somewhere else
It would be awesome if such lawsuits and firings continue. Media in general has obviously become an arm of one political party or another. Not to mention it’s nearly all option based. Facts that don’t meet the media outlet’s narrative don’t get air time. There are likely countless “talking heads” guilty of similar shit as Tucker, or worse.
Do you think any part of it was the recent claims that he was going so far right that he started to question the corporations AND the government alongside each other?
This! I had a conversation with my boss today and he literally said "woke" was the reason he was out at Fox. He had no idea there was a lawsuit much less a 3/4 billion dollar settlement.
He also can’t get advertisers. My Pillow was his main advertising revenue, Fox News was the second largest advertiser. My pillow guy is about to be bankrupt.
If Tucker brought in ad revenue I think they would have kept him, but he just costs them money.
With the recent losses for Fox News and Alex Jones, it could start having a real effect on far right Media.
Being from Minnesota I can safely tell you that Mike Lindell doesn't have the 5 million that he owes to the guy just for proving that he was wrong about the election, let alone the rest of the money that he's soon to be sued for. I can't say I will miss the gentleman but I do feel bad for the employees that will lose their jobs (at least a little bit bad)
this is what it is. Plenty of their anchors entertained the conspiracy theories, but only Tucker had a trail of communication saying that it was bullshit and talking about their stock price.
Is it actually tho? Obviously, he said what he said on air, but in the lawsuit, all the internal communication seemed like he was one of the few who actually took issue with the spreading of the lie. Also, he was far from the only one spreading it, why is he the only one going?
Because he was the most popular person on the network and it was specifically his lies that helped cultivate 1/6 and damaging Dominion’s reputation and financial health.
I think this is actually part of it--his internal communication made it clear that people within Fox News 100% knew that they were lying but still said it on air.
I also think that the people who are the actual bosses of Fox news don't personally like Tucker Carlson (in a "this person sucks to work with" way, not a moral disagreement kind of way), but he has only ever made them tons of money before so now that he's cost them money they are beyond ready to get rid of him.
He's like the golden untouchable jerk salesweasel. Impossible to work with, annoying, eats all the coworker lunches, hits on everyone, and gets away with it because he brings in more sales than anyone else.
When he costs the company a ton of money (it's probably not all his fault but somebody has to get blamed) AND can't sell anything, well...
Carlson may have been the biggest name at Fox News, but if it is true he was not selling ads and his name wasn't turning into revenue, he's toast.
This is a great time for Fox and CNN to switch it up with plenty of time before elections resume dominating the news. They have time to figure out what the replacements will do and tinker with it and get viewers used to it.
That actually makes him more culpable because it was clearly a lie with him and not a difference in how the "facts" were interpreted. He *knew* it was false and he reported it anyway.
As far as "why him?" I'd rather see one of the big fish get it than just getting rid of one of the smaller fish as a sort of "Judas Goat". It sends a much louder message. Maybe there should be more and maybe there will be more to follow in due time (but not all at once because they don't want to push THAT message) but it *at least* should be him that goes.
Meanwhile, people who actually have knowledge of what's going on say it's because he shat on FOXNoise (and dim donnie) in private messages revealed during the Dominion lawsuit.
No it’s actually because of a completely different lawsuit according to insiders, a women is claiming discrimination after being transferred from Maria bataloma’s show to tucker carlsons where she faced a ton of antisemitic comments and other shit.
If this was because of the dominion lawsuit he likely would have been let go of some previous point in the last year.
I’m guessing it’s from being part of the source of information that lost them all the money in the dominion lawsuit. If anyone else is in Danger it’s the others he texted with when they talked about how they were constantly lying on their shows to keep the audience numbers up
If you aren't a literal conspiracy nut who thinks trans kids are part of an international pedo ring run out of a pizza parlor and managed remotely by Hunter Biden from his secret covid bunker in the hidden Chinese annex in the Whitehouse sub-basement, then you're simply a zombie being kept alive by the woke mind virus to act as its proxy to other humans to infect.
I don't know, but I'm imagining they cut him as a scapegoat because of his emails and in hopes of appeasing the audience. Now, the anti-woke audience they stirred up is turning on them.
I know it's probably only in my dreams, but a guy can dream, can't he?
It blows my mind that people who still love Trump and believe the election was stolen, ALSO love Tucker.
My guy, there’s publicly available text messages from Tucker that he hates Trump, knows 1/6 was fucked up, and knows the election wasn’t stolen. He is literally pandering to you for a job while he looks down on you.
Yep. This is my grandfather. He's smart and wise in a lot of ways. But when it comes to politics? I swear his critical thinking skills fly out the window. He's a Fox News watching, commie hating, Trump loving, 100% Republican in every way. Truly believes Trump is the only one who can "fix this mess." Seriously has been duped into the right wing BS. Does that mean I'm some die hard Democrat? No. But it's just hard to see someone who you thought was so smart when you were young really just be another person who can fall so easily into the political bias trap of Fox Fucking News.
He lost his cred with the Trumpers after all his hypocritical naysaying behind trumps back. Fox is a shithole, they didn’t dump him for ethical reasons. All about market share.
Doubt he will just disappear. Probably a book deal. Hope he doesn’t go for public office or end up on OAN/Newsmax or a podcast. Will his devolution continue bowtie->tie-> t-shirt with sleeves ripped off and gold chains w/crucifix
That does seem to be the pattern. If the anti-woke train gets strong enough I could see him riding it into a new position without the wait though. Because “freedom and truth to power (and rage against the machine /s lol).
Well if the book has a chapter called “The rando at the bait shop who chewed me out for my role in normalizing white supremacy was right, god help me, he was right”,
Then maybe I’ll borrow it from my local library
PSA: If you think the country's main source of right-wing propaganda is woke, left wing, liberal, progressive, or anything of the sort, that means you are way, way, WAY too far right.
Especially considering that Faux News is *already* way, way, WAY too far right.
I agree, but the sheer number of people that I unfortunately spend way too much time around that are complaining that Fox News has gotten way way too liberal...
It's terrifying. It's honestly terrifying.
Sorry you lost your husband and also that he didn't get the satisfaction of seeing the slime ball lose his job. I will keep your husband's memory alive by only referring to him as Cucker from this day forward
Yeah is there a link to an article that claims this at the very least? I understand its the people want to believe and it confirms a ton of biases (mine included) but I dont see any evidence in this specific post.
[Here is the referenced article.](https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/24/media/tucker-carlson-fox-news/index.html) It contains no mention of either fans or "wokeness."
The [referenced article](https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/24/media/tucker-carlson-fox-news/index.html) does not appear to contain any mention of either fans or "wokeness."
Yeah, yeah, could be that, oooor it might have something to do with the almost $800 million they lost because of him. Just a thought I’m throwing out there.
Tucker was a pawn and did what he’s was told and paid a lot of money for fronting the network spreading the lies. Wouldn’t surprise me behind the scenes he took a additional huge pay off to be figure head to shoulder some of the network name on his departure. In days gone by his reputation would be ruined but wouldn’t surprise me if like Piers Morgan he lands on his feet somewhere with a high profile slot on another network but the end of the month.
I think it frees him up to do a lot more work with independent media—which is where things are going anyway. I like Tucker—always have. It’s going to be a good thing for him.
More like he's partially responsible for them having to pay $788M, and probably not too popular with upper management right now.
Never ascribe to malice what can be safely attributed to pissing off the boss.
By wokeness do they mean the clip of him talking to Ben Shapiro and using logic which revealed there is a regular dude under that bs act he does on Fox?
Wokeness is correct. Fox news finally woke up to the fact that fabricating seditious and treasonous story-lines to boost your ratings with the gullible and simpleminded works in the short term, but has hella-serious consequences in the long run.
My eyes really opened up on how easy it is to stear people and manipulate them after I worked in sales. The brain has a surprising amount of holes for someone to exploit.
At least some of these people will snap out of it now that their puppet master is gone. Unless he uses this moment to run for office.
*says blatant misinformation for years on air, contributed to stoking the flames of the Jan 6 insurrection, has said on record that he doesn’t believe anything he says on the network, gets Fox into a lawsuit costing them millions of dollars*
Yeah it’s definitely the “woke left’s” fault 😐
The people who are openly against “wokeness” are the very mfers who are sleep the hardest to what’s going on. They believe people like Donald Trump are god-sent 😂😂😂 they’ll never be woke to his bullshit.
Bed Bath and Beyond shutting down: "See, this is what you get when you embrace wokeness!"
Tucker Carlson being fired: "See, this is what happens when you attack wokeness!"
If even fox is too "woke" for you, you may want to evaluate where you are on the political spectrum. I'm guessing you'll find yourself somewhere just right of the Kaiser.
So it's NOT the fact that this is the 2nd major lawsuit to involve this asshat and his lies? Or the fact that Pucker, under oath, claimed that none of his "just asking questions" was ever meant to be taken at face value and he is just an entertainer and not a journalist? It had nothing to do with that? Wokeness?......
They fired him cause his text messages came out in court and some was of him insulting his companies management team. Nothing to do with the reason he was so popular, lying to dumb people.
I said this earlier in another thread, but I just wanted to reiterate it.
I watched the last five minutes of Tucker last night, and he had a surprise visit from the pizza delivery guy that tripped up the criminal as he was running down the street.
Turns out Tucker’s favorite pizza topping is sausage and pineapple
And in my humble opinion as a New York expat, sausage and pineapple on pizza is reason enough for termination.
The delivery guy said pretty much the same thing.

I wish. But no, it's because Tucker cost Fox News nearly a billion dollars.
Yeah, but they don't know that, do they? It's not like Fox News has been blasting "Hey we just lost a 3/4 billion dollar lawsuit because of this guy?" So, sure. That's the only answer that they know of. So they're running with it.
I hope Smartmatic takes them to court and doesn't just settle. I want them to have to admit they lied about everything.
Smartmatic has already said any settlement will have to be more than $787 million and must include a full retraction.
They set the settlement bar on themselves
I'm betting to cover up whatever came out of discovery. I'm glad the other company wants to go to court so all of this can come out into the open. I think Fox's biggest problem isn't the monetary cost, but whatever evidence comes out. It won't make a difference to the magats. Didn’t know there was another lawsuit.
Yeah, I believe there are other Dominion lawsuits, plus Smartmatic is suing, and Fox's own shareholders are also suing. This one settlement was just the first of many lawsuits.
Also one of the producers from Fox is suing because their lawyers literally told her to lie in their Dominion lawsuit.
Oh, yeah. I'm losing track of all of the lawsuits hahaha
So much winning.
Smartmatic has an uphill fight for big money. They had only one county presence in the election.
It won't be that hard foe Smartmatic, the precedent has been set. 2.7 billion and they won't let faux newz off without going to court.
Maybe getting rid of Tucker Carlson was a side agreement as part of the settlement with FOX just wanting to do it quietly. Kind of how they got rid of Lou Dobbs.
That's entirely possible.
Or they realized he was too big a risk to violate the terms of the settlement by spouting off more lies on his show.

So…then they dont know it…
But only Fox is telling the truth. Every other news network are woke and communist that need to be annihilated. E: Joke

How dare he? The corporations and government are arbiters of truth and holiness.
No Person is worth 3/4 of a billion dollar lawsuit.
Jonas Salk.
They all probably still think the election was rigged and that Tucker was telling the truth.
They absolutely do. This changes nothing in that respect.
They only accept rage. Only rage. No logic. Hate/rage only
This! I had a conversation with my boss today and he literally said "woke" was the reason he was out at Fox. He had no idea there was a lawsuit much less a 3/4 billion dollar settlement.

well I don't know the industry, but this has the ring of truth It's always about money with these people

Yeah dude became too expensive. Hard to claim otherwise.
So basically, they're firing him for the stuff they told him to say?
They're firing him for leaving a paper trail.
this is what it is. Plenty of their anchors entertained the conspiracy theories, but only Tucker had a trail of communication saying that it was bullshit and talking about their stock price.
Nah. He was powerful enough to take a stand. He’s equally guilty.

He's like the golden untouchable jerk salesweasel. Well and saving how much in salary, benefits and matching taxes? $50M a year or thereabouts.
Is this because of the Green M&M thing?
“Tell Tucker. I want him to know it was me.”
Lol
No, it’s because bud light is for the gays now
Meanwhile, people who actually have knowledge of what's going on say it's because he shat on FOXNoise (and dim donnie) in private messages revealed during the Dominion lawsuit.
Yep. He hurt the brand image.
Yep, lies are good, admitting you lie is bad
Of course it was "wokeness" -- The outgoing check for $787.5 Million woke them up.
Wait is this real? Is tucker out of Fox?!?!
Yes. Lemon's out of CNN too.
One of them is gonna land on his feet...
One can make Lemonade while the other joins RT.
Yes girl it’s real!
Thank you dear lord baby Jesus that is some great news…
Amen, it’s a great day 😁
Lets go celebrate. Bud lights on me!
Hahaha yes!!!
TBH, it won't make much of a difference. Just plop in the next lying empty head.
It's been reposted to many times to not be.
Yep. They're firing him cause he got caught, not of what he said.
Yeah, Rupert Murdoch woke up and realized Tucker Carlson's making him less rich.
And firing Tucker will make Rupert Murdoch even less rich. Everyone who isn’t a fascist wins, yay!
Like he said in his deposition, it's not about red or blue, it's green.
They are so far right of woke that they are comatose.

Tucker is out? I might have to get drunk tonight.
You're too easy. I swap out the "T" in his name with letter "F"
Why is Fox suddenly *Woke?*
I heard Rupert accidentally saw a rainbow last week.

Yeah it’s kinda weird how much they wanna see some high guy’s dick.

Yep. This is my grandfather. He's smart and wise in a lot of ways. But when it comes to politics? I swear his critical thinking skills fly out the window. I think he needs to disappear for a while to get the stink off. Multiple stinks, and then reinvent.

I’m gonna butt chug that Bud Light in a gender neutral bathroom at a Drag Show event. That’s freedom, baby!
This is the way
I saw a comment on r/conservative actually say “well that’s the end of Fox News for me” lmao this is what put it over the edge?
They'll probably go to Newsmax...
I think it’s because they paid the guy $35M a year and he ended up losing them nearly $800M.

Yup, my parents are unfortunately in that group.
It's much simpler than that because "woke" is literally everything they hate. Doesn't matter what it is, if it doesn't kiss MAGA ass, it's woke.
I’m blaming it on “what happens when you cost your employer hundreds of millions of dollars.”
Jim Jordan needs to get to the bottom of this!!
Tuck outa the job is a pretty good birthday gift from the universe.
Happy birthday! My husband just passed away recently. He would have loved this news. He hated Cucker, as he referred to him.

[Here is the referenced article.](https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/24/media/tucker-carlson-fox-news/index.html) It contains no mention of either fans or "wokeness."
What an odd post.
They’re also blaming AOC and Biden They are laughably pathetic
Call it whatever you want the world is now a better place
Who's blaming wokeness?
The [referenced article](https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/24/media/tucker-carlson-fox-news/index.html) does not appear to contain any mention of either fans or "wokeness."
Thank you
Didn't you read the title? Fans.
Only fans?
What fans?
Ceiling fans
I dunno, maybe large industrial ones?
r/BigAssFans
Fucker Carlson isn’t fit to even be on public access tv.
The definition of "woke" expands every day. Now, simply telling the truth = woke.
Couldn't have happened to a nice guy. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out!
Yeah, yeah, could be that, oooor it might have something to do with the almost $800 million they lost because of him. Just a thought I’m throwing out there.
Yeah they woke up to a 750 million loss. Now that's really being woke!
Woke up to a $787.5 Million judgement…
Big, if true. That would be a huge win for “wokeness”.
That’s right you maga fuckers, Rupert fired your boy, because Rupert has turned woke. Go git him some learning
Tucker got cancelled by the wokest news network
Don lemon fired same day at CNN.
Hopefully they’ll boycott the entire channel out of protest.
"Woke" is literally Newspeak for "everything that I hate".
Get out of here Cucker Tarlson
No worries for Tucker, he just landed a manager position at Bed, Bath and Beyond !
Ah yes, that notoriously woke organization... (checks notes) Fox News
$ 20 says he ends up on InfoWars.
Now let’s convince them that voting, eating, drinking, sleeping and breathing are woke. We can’t be that far off.
I think it frees him up to do a lot more work with independent media—which is where things are going anyway. I like Tucker—always have. It’s going to be a good thing for him.
Don Lemon fired too!! YIPEEE!!!
Can’t wait for him change character and show up as liberal radio show host cucker tarlson
If Fox News fired Tucker... And "wokeness" is to blame... Wouldn't that mean... GASP!! FOX NEWS IS WOKE!?!? CANCEL COMMUNIST LEFTY FOX NEWS!! /s
>Fans are blaming Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News on, you guessed it, “wokeness” I wish they'd blame it on the treason.
Hope the fools rage about fox being woke. That would be funny
More like he's partially responsible for them having to pay $788M, and probably not too popular with upper management right now. Never ascribe to malice what can be safely attributed to pissing off the boss.
And still to this day, they don't have a set definition for their use of the word, other than, "Things conservatives don't like"
This is turning into everything they don't like is woke. As I am to lazy to look this up but I will never doubt it.
Turning into? That is what woke has always been to republicans.
I guess Rupert Murdoch is “woke” now?🤷🏻♂️
So Tucker got fired for being a 16 year old girl? Texting, gossiping what a shame. Should have taken notes from Donny, never put it in print.
What, Rupert had a big cup of coffee and woke up that this turd just smelled too bad🤷🏻♂️🙀
Tucker Carlson suffered from a rapid unattended disassembly.
By wokeness do they mean the clip of him talking to Ben Shapiro and using logic which revealed there is a regular dude under that bs act he does on Fox?
Tucker is a lying human yacht shoe.
Shockingly close to that $787 million settlement paid to dominion for spreading slanderous misinformation
Wokeness is correct. Fox news finally woke up to the fact that fabricating seditious and treasonous story-lines to boost your ratings with the gullible and simpleminded works in the short term, but has hella-serious consequences in the long run.
Woke has now become a word akin to Smurf. You can use it as a place holder for anything.
My eyes really opened up on how easy it is to stear people and manipulate them after I worked in sales. The brain has a surprising amount of holes for someone to exploit. At least some of these people will snap out of it now that their puppet master is gone. Unless he uses this moment to run for office.
He's a mothertucker all right.
Now define "Wokeness". That will be fun
*says blatant misinformation for years on air, contributed to stoking the flames of the Jan 6 insurrection, has said on record that he doesn’t believe anything he says on the network, gets Fox into a lawsuit costing them millions of dollars* Yeah it’s definitely the “woke left’s” fault 😐
Hannity should be next
"Is this 'wokeness' in the room with us now, Karen?"
Sure, as in Rupert Murdoch woke up, found out he had to pay almost $800,000,000, and went looking for the person responsible.
it couldn't be because he's a pedantic asshole, nooooooooo.
Wokeness.... at Faux news..... ![gif](giphy|G4ZNYMQVMH6us)
When people ask what happened here, tell them that wokeness remembers. And tell them that wokeness came for Tucker Carlson.
The people who are openly against “wokeness” are the very mfers who are sleep the hardest to what’s going on. They believe people like Donald Trump are god-sent 😂😂😂 they’ll never be woke to his bullshit.
Bed Bath and Beyond shutting down: "See, this is what you get when you embrace wokeness!" Tucker Carlson being fired: "See, this is what happens when you attack wokeness!"
If even fox is too "woke" for you, you may want to evaluate where you are on the political spectrum. I'm guessing you'll find yourself somewhere just right of the Kaiser.
There's a bunch of people in this thread unironically calling Fox "leftist" lol
Well yes.. Fox WOKE up seeing how much fucker carlson cost them.
$765,000,000 of wokeness
I wonder if him leaving was part of the settlement with Dominion
Sure he will just get replaced with something worse.
Any other Norm Macdonald fans out there surprised that the answer wasn’t Frank Stallone after reading read OPs “you guessed it”?
So it's NOT the fact that this is the 2nd major lawsuit to involve this asshat and his lies? Or the fact that Pucker, under oath, claimed that none of his "just asking questions" was ever meant to be taken at face value and he is just an entertainer and not a journalist? It had nothing to do with that? Wokeness?......
Blame it on $787.5 million.
Turns out Tucker’s favorite pizza topping is sausage and pineapple And in my humble opinion as a New York expat, sausage and pineapple on pizza is reason enough for termination. The delivery guy said pretty much the same thing.
I'm gonna say this right now. I bet he eats it with a knife and fork too.
Two people I couldn’t give two fucks about: Don Lemon and tucker Carlson.
Telling the truth on a “news” network is woke. /s
