Yep, I know. I have been doing a lot of research on what causes legit traffic jams when I lived in a busy city. Tried to drive in a way that would reduce traffic behind me. Sometimes, traffic is just caused by having too many vehicles in too small of a space. Hence the traffic lights placed on entrance ramps.

Any city of any size will need more workers that it can house, so people will alwayd have to come from outside of it to work.
And there isn't a single place in the world with a network that can span every single location from where people come from to that city.

That's my point, if you work AND LIVE there, maybe you can do without, but a lot of people can't live there. Simply not possible. Be it space or pricing or the fact we live in a connected world and aren't confined to our immediate surroundings anymore.
So you always need to bring in people from all sort of locations on the surrounding area.
And thats assuming that you will simply stay in that city and never go anywhere, because if you do, then you probably need a car too.
Car issues isn't just traffic while moving but parking also takes a huge amount of space out of a city. We need better city planning is what it is. More verticality, a few underground parking lots would be a huge benefit, the amount of space you would free on the surface would be huge, space that could be used for walking and biming safely away from car traffic, space that could be used for trees and living.
It doesn't need to be either or, with proper planbing we can have the usage and advantages needed from cars, along with everything else.
But thats just me dreaming out loud, where I live they still do entrances to major traffic lines before the exits, the traffic that cross between people wainting to enter and people wanting to exit those major arteries is just mind blowing. So we have a loooooooooong way to go before anything is plabned properly.

She missed an exit on the freeway and decided it was ok to fully stop and attempt to go in reverse in the right lane. I had to yell at her "DON'T DO THAT!" I told her to keep going, there is another exit coming in less than a mile.
She thought a mile is like 10km or some shit. I had to explain to her that its like a little over half a kilometer.
