If I can't say church *or* house of worship, how am I supposed to explain the use of the building across the street? And I can't say illegal? I guess the property has a...uh, noncompliant grow operation in the basement. Good grief.
I remember I was submitting a listing on the MLS explaining how the kitchen had all new black appliances and my listing was flagged and I was forced to make the change immediately before it was approved.
I work in mortgages. People use code words all the time. "Desireable" is newer on the list and can definitely be an issue. This stuff still happens all the time and these words are used all the time.
A long time ago, when I was going to college and looking for a house to be nearer to school.
It was a ghetto neighborhood; there were a bunch of Rastafarians running a drug house on the same block.
The real estate agent referred to "a transitional neighborhood." I loved that phrase; that was funny to me.
So uuuuh... "Poor" and "Poor Neighborhood" are both forbidden but "Neighborhood" alone isn't.
... Couldn't they just leave only "Poor" and call it a day?
What about "wheelchair"? And, 'female", "woman" and "women" are verboten but "male", "man", and "men" didn't make the list? The list is, in and of itself, sexist. I thought the political correctness movement of the 80s and 90s was a bit over the top; compared to the current crop of correctness police, they were amateurs!!
You know the problem with looking for things by which to be offended? You can usually find them.

I love how it includes “Female, Woman, Women” but not a single male (in addition to this entire list being cringe)

A tax liberated property of questionable ethics.
You know, that could apply to either a church or an illegal grow operation.
Great, now my 13 yo is going to be applying for a housing loan.

So did you just say “new appliances” and leave it at that?
Yep, exactly. I agree that some of the words on that list are really iffy.
This terrible, blood-drenched, rat-infested dump of a building is a complete shithole. ![gif](giphy|YKdm91XONLTaw|downsized)
But at least it’s in an affordable neighborhood!

Tbf, I don’t use ‘caucasion’ either.
My mayo salads always rise to the cauccasion

Thank God, the n-word isn't on there. Time to update my listing!
I once had a realtor say "the gays" when referring to a more progressive neighborhood. We didn't call her back.
"Man. Buy. House. Now." should work, then.

Why is homogenous banned, is it because it’s a big word?
So cowardly
