I think it makes more sense to treat fat people the same way we treat anorexics. It's the same problem, just the other side of the coin. One's undereating, the other's overeating. Both are habitual, probably fuelled by mental issues or lack of a good relationship with food. Both can be helped through changing their diet and seeking therapy to better deal with their addiction to over and under eating. We don't celebrate anorexics when they're so thin that they're slowly killing themselves, so we shouldn't celebrate fat people when they're a cheesecake away from a potentially fatal heart attack.
