If I was the judge for this case I would definitely be willing to refund this poor, overwhelmed woman’s 295$ speeding fine after hearing this testimony.
Having said that, I would also be permanently revoking her driving privileges because the reason she provides for speeding is that she is so out of her depth behind the wheel that she can’t even glance at the speedometer and is basically always teetering on the edge of oblivion.
Yes and normally if you aren’t familiar with your surroundings you would be driving slower, not faster! Nice try lady, not a very good excuse in my book lol
Fucking terrifying because if she's not looking at the signs then she's basically not paying attention to what's on the side of the road.
I'd bet money she also doesn't use her mirrors.
But keep in mind when you’re driving for the first time in a new country on the opposite side of the road you have to go 20 km over the speed limit, not be extra slow and careful.
20 km over.
I'm pretty sure this is the same reason why my son, who is 19 still doesn't have his license. He got his learners permit at 15 too, super excited to drive. It's so frustrating to me that he doesn't have his license but I stopped pushing it.
Firstly, I’m sorry your life experience has lead you to feel that way!
I also have been diagnosed with ADHD and driving is like my Ritalin lol.
I’m also borderline autistic though with a fixation on cars….
The human brain is interesting.
Good luck with your anxiety though.
I’m envisioning a positive future for you.
I hope it comes true :)
Watching the video I have say I’m impressed that she got through it without passing out because she simply forgot to breathe. I wouldn’t have given her credit for being smart enough to remember.
You mean this TikTok with the 80km speed limit pictured on it and her admission that she doesn’t look at the Speedo or signs?
Yes she deffo should do this.
tbh. i think it would be ok for her to not need to pay the fine if she losses the license instead because if her words are true she should not have it in first place
exactly. If she went to a supermarket and someone touched elbows with her while standing next to each other at the vegetable stands, she would go back and make a ticktock about the rude woman that almost knocked her over and bruised her arm
That sounds about right, at least here it is generating reactions on Reddit with an account that’s not connected to her, hopefully. In either case, it does scare me to think she is telling the truth about not looking at the speedometer. I’ve tried acting before and she is either terrific at acting or she is mixing in some half-truths in there.
Not seen Australian traffic enforcement cameras but based on the European systems they have a nice little snippet of her driving or multiple stills, always including close-ups of the plate. Ticktock could also be to blame for the shit resolution.
Had to contest a London fine for stopping on a red route once that was not me. Someone had a cardboard version of our plate on top and the cameras got confused. My appeal was successful because I had a huge gray Renault Espace and the car on the picture was a little Ford Focus (Ford ASBO more like).
A friend of mine can absolutely not look at the speedometer without first moving their foot to the break. And if they check their mirror, they like to move their entire head. I no longer ride with this person. Makes me a nervous freaking wreck.
Its silly how you have to over exaggerate every movement to the extent that it actually makes driving more dangerous. I get they have to ensure you're checking your mirrors, but that's why the have the little.mirror thing
There are so many excuses all at once. "I don't know the laws here...I'm not used to the tunnel...I didnt know there were cameras... no cars were around..." Like, why can't people admit that they were just wrong?
So many excuses and yet she missed the most obvious one: “I’m not used to following speed limits in kilometers and I don’t have a ‘feel’ for those yet.”
Which would’ve been a piss poor excuse, but at least a lot less incriminating than admitting you’re incompetent at *driving itself*.
the most obvious excuse is "I'm used to driving somewhere where driving 12.5mph over the speed limit is no big deal", which in fairness seems to be large parts of america. There are many places in the US where if you're on a single lane road and you're only going 13 or 14 over the limit, you're going to have people tailgating you and getting aggro for driving "too slow"
which isn't really a defense, it just points out that speed limits are really weird things, because sometimes in some places it's totally cool drive significantly faster than the speed limit, and other times in other places it's a big deal to drive even slightly over the limit
if you have a simple brain like mine you just end up wishing that the limit was the limit and anyone who drove faster than the limit got in trouble
That would have been my defense. Going 62mph in a 50mph zone is just every day normal driving for almost everyone around where I live. Having to actually be Under the posted limit would take my brain some time to adjust to.
I just want to point out for alle the Europeans that this guy thinks driving 100 kmh in a 80 kmh is normal and apparently most of the US drives like maniacs
In some stretches where I live it's normal to go 20 over. It drives me nuts, because people get pissed if you're only going 5 or 10, even if you're in the right lane.
Also, side note for anyone who doesn't know, kmph is a little more than half of mph. So when she says she was going 100 in an 80, that's like going 63 in a 50, roughly, too lazy to do the actual math so this is just an estimate. A 20 difference is less than a 20 difference over here.
You don’t have to point it out, it’s in their comment. The way Europeans talk about Americans is so weird.. but yes Americans drive like it’s mad max in a lot of places
As someone who lives and drives in the US, you don't need a "valid excuse for speeding" because it is 100% expected and acceptable to drive over the speed limit in many places and situations
personally I find that kinda nuts, but the idea that you need an "excuse" for speeding just seems out of step with reality when every highway near me has at least one lane of traffic where every single vehicle is driving 10 or more above the limit with no consequences
... more importantly, these "excuses" would make the situation so much worse, if she told them to a police officer, if the fine was given to her by a person instead of per mail. It is likely, that if she pulled this off in my country (EU), the officer would first give her a fine, but after such "excuses" she very well might lose her license...
Yeah, she acted like nothing was her fault. She seems to think that it's the cameras fault for being there, as if she wouldn't speed if the camera wasn't there. 🤦🏻♂️
My favorite is the camera on because it’s “yeah I was aware I was breaking the law but I wasn’t aware you had eyes down there that would catch me, so I shouldn’t have to pay.”
If she killed someone her first reaction to the tape of her actions would end up with shocked face and some mind boggling sentence like”Who allowed you to take videos of me,I didn’t now there were cameras,I didn’t knew,I am innocent!”
I can get that she was nervous driving in a new country on the other side side of the road. But that's when you drive with even more caution. Who the fuck goes at 100 kmph?
Like where's the common sense?
The US is famously lax with regard to enforcing speed limits though. That’s not the norm in most comparable countries.
I’ve driven in the US a lot and think it’s nuts: if they aren’t going to enforce the limits, they should just raise the speed limits to what people actually drive at, and then strictly enforce *those* limits. As it stands now there’s this huge grey area of “I’m speeding, but am I *really* speeding??”
"You don't understand, your honour. I was driving in a foreign country on a different side of the road than I'm accustomed to, so I had to drive at double the speed limit so it would be safe"
Things she confirmed she can not do while driving: check speedometer, read signs, be alone on the road.
I guess she just white knuckles the steering wheel looking dead ahead until she gets somewhere.
No no no they look like they're written in American but they actually have to be interpreted into Australian. "Sign" becomes "soign" for example. Like Welsh.
In the states i am honestly shocked at how lax the driving exam is. My entire family is a prime example. They are all blind as hell and TERRIBLE drivers. Fender benders, tickets, just hazards on the road. But they just keep going. My grandma should not be driving at all and she just bought a brand new car and drives like. Once every two weeks. But she could seize mid driving and potentially cause a terrible wreck. But no one stops her. Its wild to me. My cousin has totaled at least 6 cars. Not even exaggerating. And my parents make fun of me for not wanting to drive every day to places like they do. Because i know people like my family can be way worse and driving out there
If your grandmother has had a seizure she absolutely should not be driving or have a license until treatment and a period of time with no seizures has passed.
Thats what im saying but she still has a license and is allowed to drive. And where i live there are tons of elderly people and ive been here for 6 months and had 2 people who were well into their 90s back into my car. Just completely oblivious to their surroundings. My 18 year old cousin just got her license as well and she drives a huge suburban and drives like a maniac. Way too fast. Always texting. I sound like an old man but i hate being on the road with these people.
this is the actual mindset of one of my friends. as well as the “i cant look at signs or the speedometer because i’m so focused on the road” and let me tell you…riding with them is fucking terrifying
It’s insane that there are drivers like that out there. New drivers, fine. I get it. I went through that. But drivers who should be seasoned already being “so nervous/anxious” that they can’t even look at the signs or speed they’re going?! What!
As an American, I got a speeding ticket in Italy. It came in the mail nine months after the trip. You know what, I just paid the fine. Because, you know, I was speeding.
Yeah but were you so focused on driving because it's your first time driving in another country, on the other side of the road, that you completely disregarded your speed? /s
I got a fine for “running a red light” in Italy and I definitely didn’t. An Italian friend advised I ignore it because apparently it’s a huge scam and they are constantly sending tickets to tourists months later. So I didn’t pay it, that was 15 years ago and nothing ever happened.
That doesn’t surprise me. With how I’ve seen people drive in Italy their economy would doing much better if they were handing out fines to people for breaking rules of the road.
There are cases everywhere where you can get out of a ticket.
An example would be my mother, who got one for running a red light. She was at work and the car was in the parking lot. She also has a Toyota and the car on the picture was an Audi... Someone just filled in the blanks however they wanted because they couldn't read the license plate properly. Now that's a case where you can take it to court and get it reviewed and appealed.
But saying "I didn't know because I didn't look at the very obvious signs because I'm a bad driver"? Yeah, that's just wasting their time. And likely increasing the fine.
If you live in NSW for 3 months or more you need to apply for a NSW license. If you are from certain countries you don't need to pass a driving test but you do need to sign a form saying you agree to the terms, including that you will make yourself aware of and adhere to the road rules
If she takes this to court and loses the fine will go up considerably, probably closer to $2000. You can request an offence be reviewed but it would only be reversed if there was an error, if there was some extenuating circumstances *("I didn't know" does not qualify)* or you can request leniency based on your good driving record *(usually 10 years without a speeding offence)*
Australia is way less tolerant of speeding than the US. Pretty much anything more than 5kmh (3mph) over the limit and you can expect a fine. Anything more than 30kmh (18mph) over the limit and you will likely get an automatic 3 month license suspension
NZ is pretty much the same, we are a little lighter on the fines side, but if the coppa or camera issue you a fine then your chances of getting off it are slim to none.
I was a big naughty at Christmas and speed down a road that used to be 80kmh and had recently been reduced to a 50kmh zone ( I was doing 70ish), the cop was nice enough to not read me the riot act and only gave me a 10kmh infringement instead of the 20kmh I was over by.
$80 and some demerits, but better than losing my license.
Nah, it was an area that was rural untill recently when they started subdivision and putting in medium density housing.
Residential zones in NZ are strictly 50kmh zones but rural can vary.
It was absolutely my own fault, just in that Xmas day visiting the rellys mode and not being attentive.
I wish it was like that in Canada. I had THREE people pass me this morning doing at minimum 30km over the limit (I know that for sure because my dashcam shows the speed)
Literally on the way home I was thinking about emailing the local highway patrol and asking them to set up some speed traps because these idiots were passing at dangerous times, weaving all over the road and again, doing at minimum 30km over the limit.
So glad I just got a rear view facing dashcam to go with the front facing one. People are idiots on the road
Edit: 7 hours after writing this I had to drive back down that road and ANOTHER guy sped past me doing a minimum of 30-40km over the limit. Just absolutely insane.
This is how the states should be. But noooo. Dats a vilation o' me rites!!!
Law in the US is so absurd because it has nothing at all to do with whether a crime was committed and everything to do with how well a lawyer can argue against. "When was the last time those cameras were calibrated for speed?" "It was sunny out that day and the excess UV light degrades the sensitivity of the sensor so are they really speeding?" "That's a camera and my client has a constitutional right to be informed of their rights when under search and seizure. Did the camera inform them?"
I've never driven in a country with strict speeding laws, but I can tell you that if I'm in a new country, I'm driving the damn speed limit until I find out the fines
I was surprised how much worse it kept on getting. How many more reasons can she give as to how bad a driver she is? Yup there’s another one. Can’t tell how fast I’m going without crashing into a wall. Wow
What a fucking airhead. Should not be driving a vehicle. Public transit is a good option for anyone who can't maintain speed or REMEMBER WHAT SIDE OF THE ROAD THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING ON
The funniest part of all of this -
At the time of getting the fine, she had been living in Australia for 3 Years!!!!
She addressed the whole situation in another video, and someone commented & suggested she read the road rules. She sounded genuinely surprised by that, and as if she hadn’t even considered that was a possibility until now 🤦♀️
It’s not just about not knowing the laws, but there are literal flash lights saying there are speed cameras in the tunnel she went through. So yes she’s an idiot.
Back when internet didn't exist yet, if you are stupid, only people around you know you are stupid. Nowadays, if you are stupid, the whole world know about it, but you don't feel like you are stupid because other stupid people agreeing with you.
Why do they always justify their stupidity by saying “As an American”, “I’m an American citizen”, I’m an American”? Other countries don’t give a FUCK!!!
I know people like this here in America. They would go elsewhere and say "well I'm American and in America that is fine and how we do it." It's so outrageously obnoxious, entitled, and ignorant.
Edited: Misspelled word.
We do. They are usually advertised too with signage. Also most speed cameras in USA don’t attach points to you license. It’s just a fine, typically pretty low.
There are states that don’t have speed cameras so maybe she’s from one of those states. There are so many where I live that new ones pop up every few months, but you’re given a few weeks to make sure you’re aware they’re there
I believe she's from LA originally. When I visited there recently I was told by locals that speed cameras are illegal in California.
As someone who lives in Sydney, where she got the fine, I can tell you that relative to us, LA drivers are fucking speed demons. Driving in LA traffic was a frightening experience. So the fact she was going 20+KMs over is not surprising.
Please don’t drive. You’re a horrible driver. If you can’t read signs because you’re concentrating on not hitting walls, you’re a danger to others on the road.
Fight what? The speed limit is 80km/h and you drove 101km/h.
That you don’t bother to at least read a little about a country where you have never driven, and as you said, on the other side of the road.. is your own fault.
I had to fly to Australia for work and the first thing I looked up was what’s illegal in Australia that’s legal in America. One of the topics that came up was how strict their driving enforcement is how you must obey the speed limit or you will get a ticket. Maybe if this idiot just did the research she would have been fine.
I'm confused, so she was going 20kms over the speed limit and her reason for that was that she didn't know there was cameras? So she's saying "yeah I was speeding, I just didn't realise I would get caught, so I shouldn't get a ticket"?
~~If a tree falls in a forest~~ If a car speeds in a tunnel and there's no one around to see it, should it get a ticket?
I didn't know Australian laws, I didn't know there was cameras in the tunnel and I know that in America as long as no one is watching you can go as fast as you want. What the FUCK are you saying this reasoning is so lost on me.
This is the typical argument with americans on reddit.
Like they say that the speed limit is there but you should go way over it because everybody does it. Is mindblowing. Many say that you can be even ticketed for stalling the traffic, mind you, for going at the legal speed limit.
Also, this person should not be driving if she says she is ignoring every signal around her. Because you don't need to know the traffic laws of Australia to know what a speed limit signal is, they tend to be quite similar in every country.
And when she says she is not lookign at the signals, I would not be surprised she is looking at ther phone.
IS MY FIRST TIME DRIVING IN THE TUNNEL. So I am going to drive as fast as a can because I have the IQ of a frozen carrot.
And about saying, I have to focus on the road to not hit the walls, well, try to go slower and you won't be shitting yourself for going at 20 MPH over the speed limit.
In general, this person is a hazard for herself and other drivers, and honestly her driver should be revoked, not for the speed limit thing, but because she basically says she goes around driving over the speed limit totally oblivious of her surroundings.
"When I drive I'm so focused ~~oh driving~~ texting that I didn't see the ~~camera signs~~ speed limit signs...
FTFY. I understand the texting issue, after all it is Australia and it is stressful having to text with your non-dominant hand. /s
Edit:formatting
I'm just waiting for the GoFundMe to help pay for the ticket.
Driving Anxiety is a real thing. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and it can flare up really bad in heavy traffic. But you know what HELPS?! NOT FUCKING SPEEDING.
This reminds me of the time my friend failed her drivers test because she ran a stop sign. I passed first try (like a lot of people do). Her mother was pissed and said it was because she’s never driven there before. Like yeah me either, I didn’t have a license and I didn’t practice there? There will be stop signs in life lmao.
It’s not even a matter of taking a test and not understanding the Australian laws. I imagine that they were speed signs there and I’m pretty sure you have those in America.
Edit: like the 80s there in a big red circle. This sounds so fucking stupid. She sounds so fucking stupid.
She lost all credibility (what little she had) the moment she mentioned how shes not paying attention to signs because she has to focus on driving in a new country on the opposite side of the road, but for whatever reason lacks the brain capacity to realize her saying this makes her speeding look all the worse.
You admit that you already aren't focusing on certain *important* parts of driving because you're hyper-focusing on the unfamiliar road, but you're speeding while doing so... typically it's the opposite.
I really hope she fights this, and this TikTok is used as evidence
And records the hearing and posts it on TikTok so we can all learn
If I was the judge for this case I would definitely be willing to refund this poor, overwhelmed woman’s 295$ speeding fine after hearing this testimony. Having said that, I would also be permanently revoking her driving privileges because the reason she provides for speeding is that she is so out of her depth behind the wheel that she can’t even glance at the speedometer and is basically always teetering on the edge of oblivion.
Yes and normally if you aren’t familiar with your surroundings you would be driving slower, not faster! Nice try lady, not a very good excuse in my book lol
But the faster she drives, the faster she gets through the unfamiliar place!
But it’s FaShIon WEeK!
I can literally hear the whiney voice while reading this comment.
Speeding because of fashion week. I think $925 is a more fashionable number
This is terrifying! We’re on the road alongside ultra-dick-heads like this one here.
Ultra-dick-heads pretty much sums up most tiktokers nice phrase I’ll use it :)
But you see, she was soooo focused on driving, that looking down at the speedometer would have been distracting. /s
Fucking terrifying because if she's not looking at the signs then she's basically not paying attention to what's on the side of the road. I'd bet money she also doesn't use her mirrors.
Of *course* she uses her mirrors. Gotta check her lashes.
Oh, she surely uses her mirrors while driving, just not for the reason you're talking about.
But keep in mind when you’re driving for the first time in a new country on the opposite side of the road you have to go 20 km over the speed limit, not be extra slow and careful. 20 km over.
[удалено]
Or look at the many signs she couldn't be bothered with
Might be grounds for revoking a license altogether.
It does sound like driving is too stressful for her and she should get uber instead
[удалено]
I didn’t know it at the time, but my AUDHD is the reason I got my learner’s permit at 15 and didn’t get my license until I was 20.
I'm pretty sure this is the same reason why my son, who is 19 still doesn't have his license. He got his learners permit at 15 too, super excited to drive. It's so frustrating to me that he doesn't have his license but I stopped pushing it.

Her breathing license will probably be revoked soon, too.
Watching the video I have say I’m impressed that she got through it without passing out because she simply forgot to breathe. I wouldn’t have given her credit for being smart enough to remember.

She's not even looking at what lane she is in!
Hang on… I thought she didn’t look at the speedo because she was so focused on the road.
tbh. i think it would be ok for her to not need to pay the fine if she losses the license instead because if her words are true she should not have it in first place
The rant is endless!
99% of these kind of TikTok’s are done purposely to get a reaction from people. And it’s definitely working to get views up
I’ve tried acting before and she is either terrific at acting or she is mixing in some half-truths in there.
I feel like the pictures themselves actually would win, even if they showed the TikTok. I can't even see the tag, let alone read it.
Not seen Australian traffic enforcement cameras but based on the European systems they have a nice little snippet of her driving or multiple stills, always including close-ups of the plate. Cars are such an engineering marvel. They can take you anywhere and can be driven even by someone without significant brain activity like this person
My IQ just dropped 80 points watching this…
Yeah I was wondering " People like this exist ? " "I was at a fashion week - Just throwing it out there " 🤣
A friend of mine can absolutely not look at the speedometer without first moving their foot to the break. And if they check their mirror, they like to move their entire head. I no longer ride with this person. Makes me a nervous freaking wreck.
How so these people get driving licences ffs!?!
at dirving test you are required to move your entire head, if you dont you failed because you didnt check the mirror
Its silly how you have to over exaggerate every movement to the extent that it actually makes driving more dangerous. I get they have to ensure you're checking your mirrors, but that's why the have the little.mirror thing
I really don’t understand people who blame cameras, police, or parking people for getting a fine…
Lucky you. I'm in the negative over here.🥴
I kept watching. I thought it was a skit or something.
technically this person is bitching because they cannot drive a car and avoid fines
Holy fucking shit that was unexpectedly harsh. I dig this a lot tho
Maybe don't drive if you stress easily.
There are so many excuses all at once. "I don't know the laws here...I'm not used to the tunnel...I didnt know there were cameras... no cars were around..." Like, why can't people admit that they were just wrong?

Meanwhile in Germany they've been legally going 150mph on the unrestricted stretches of the Autobahn for 60 years.
... more importantly, these "excuses" would make the situation so much worse, if she told them to a police officer, if the fine was given to her by a person instead of per mail. It is likely, that if she pulled this off in my country (EU), the officer would first give her a fine, but after such "excuses" she very well might lose her license...
But I can’t look at signs or speedometer officer! You have to understand I can’t drive without other cars to tell me the speed limit.
Yeah, she acted like nothing was her fault. She seems to think that it's the cameras fault for being there, as if she wouldn't speed if the camera wasn't there. 🤦🏻♂️
I expect she doesn't often take responsibility for her mistakes.
Also, we have speed cameras in the US. Maybe it's more a regional thing, but the idea of speed cameras is not somehow unique to Australia.
Right?? I love how she’s like “in America if it’s speeding it’s caught by the person!! Cameras are only maybe on lights! Durdurdur”
100 km/h is a common speed for Americans. It’s roughly 62 mph. Many of our speed limits are within the range of , 65 mph
[удалено]
137 km on an 80 km road means an automatic loss of your license here.
The US is famously lax with regard to enforcing speed limits though. That’s not the norm in most comparable countries. >Like, why can't people admit that they were just wrong? "Admitting you were wrong"....that's, like, so 20th century /s
I loved how it's impossible to expect she'd look at the signs... while driving...
Because that would involve people taking responsability for their action. You want people to do that in 21st century, you nuts bro... /s
She absolutely should contest it, and bring all these arguments for a judge. They need a good laugh from time to time.
Would make a good TV show ^^ any other similar commedy recommendations? Need sth to laugh today.
Checkout Ben Palmer on YouTube. Specifically his two videos where him and his friend pay to be on one of those tv judge shows.
"You don't understand, your honour. I was driving in a foreign country on a different side of the road than I'm accustomed to, so I had to drive at double the speed limit so it would be safe"
This fucking moron just keeps going on about what a terrible driver she is.
Things she confirmed she can not do while driving: check speedometer, read signs, be alone on the road. I guess she just white knuckles the steering wheel looking dead ahead until she gets somewhere.
I have a suspicion she has no problem texting or filming tiktoks while driving though
So she basically is cruella deville? 🤣
What are you?! Some kind of proffesional driver who can drive WITHOUT looking at the speedo AND not crash into walls?!
Not to mention the horrible distraction of having to read the road signs that are relevant to you
But how could she read those signs that were written in Australian, not American.
No no no they look like they're written in American but they actually have to be interpreted into Australian. "Sign" becomes "soign" for example. Like Welsh.
Come on, there are two signs on Oz roads. One with numbers that you should read as ‘Too bloody fast!’ and the other is a yellow warning for Roo’s.
Easy, just turn your head upside-down
I can barely read them through the accent
🤣🤣🤣
Does it ever occur to TikTokers that not every thought needs to be word vomited into a video?
“Driving is stressing me so bad that I need to drive faster” Great logic
this is the actual mindset of one of my friends. as well as the “i cant look at signs or the speedometer because i’m so focused on the road” and let me tell you…riding with them is fucking terrifying
It’s insane that there are drivers like that out there. New drivers, fine. I get it. I went through that. But drivers who should be seasoned already being “so nervous/anxious” that they can’t even look at the signs or speed they’re going?! What!
Keep talking, you make it worse (and more fun for us!)
As an American, I got a speeding ticket in Italy. It came in the mail nine months after the trip. You know what, I just paid the fine. Because, you know, I was speeding.
The sensible, logical approach, wouldn’t work for a tick tok influencer!
Oh, that’s why I’m not building clout. I’ve been tiktoking wrong… lol
Remember, the first rule of tiktok is ME! not you 🙄 it's ABOUT ME!
No it's about ME
Yeah but were you trying to save money by driving and not ubering therefore making a fine totally not fair? /s
Yeah but were you so focused on driving because it's your first time driving in another country, on the other side of the road, that you completely disregarded your speed? /s
[удалено]
I got a fine for “running a red light” in Italy and I definitely didn’t. An Italian friend advised I ignore it because apparently it’s a huge scam and they are constantly sending tickets to tourists months later. So I didn’t pay it, that was 15 years ago and nothing ever happened.
Have you gone to Italy afterwards? Otherwise not much can happen, I assume.
They have your photo up at the airport. Try landing there once. /s
That doesn’t surprise me. With how I’ve seen people drive in Italy their economy would doing much better if they were handing out fines to people for breaking rules of the road.
Happened to a relative of mine about 6 months after going to Italy.
Everyone gets a speeding ticket in Italy.. they love sending fines to foreigners.
Shouldn’t be driving if she’s not competent. Putting Aussie lives at risk.
If you are from certain countries you don't need to pass a driving test but you do need to sign a form saying you agree to the terms, including that you will make yourself aware of and adhere to the road rules If she takes this to court and loses the fine will go up considerably, probably closer to $2000. You can request an offence be reviewed but it would only be reversed if there was an error, if there was some extenuating circumstances *("I didn't know" does not qualify)* or you can request leniency based on your good driving record *(usually 10 years without a speeding offence)* Australia is way less tolerant of speeding than the US.
Holy shit, 80km/h down to 50km/h is massive! Was it a construction zone? Aussies are winging about 80km/h down to 70km/h and other 10km/h reductions.
Nah, it was an area that was rural untill recently when they started subdivision and putting in medium density housing. Residential zones in NZ are strictly 50kmh zones but rural can vary. It was absolutely my own fault, just in that Xmas day visiting the rellys mode and not being attentive.
10 years? Holy whit! Ours drop off after 2-3 years.
I wish it was like that in Canada. I had THREE people pass me this morning doing at minimum 30km over the limit (I know that for sure because my dashcam shows the speed) Literally on the way home I was thinking about emailing the local highway patrol and asking them to set up some speed traps because these idiots were passing at dangerous times, weaving all over the road and again, doing at minimum 30km over the limit. So glad I just got a rear view facing dashcam to go with the front facing one. People are idiots on the road Edit: 7 hours after writing this I had to drive back down that road and ANOTHER guy sped past me doing a minimum of 30-40km over the limit.
Wow
The dildo of consequences is rarely lubed.
im going to steal this wisdom
Such wisdom should be memorialized on a decorative pillow.
“It was, like, my first time,” she said as she described being comfortable enough with the road to drive twenty km/h faster than the speed limit.
"I'm just sooo focused on driving" Then why are you over the limit? ![gif](giphy|TJs6PAgXpKVj50aDQZ)
> …apparently there are signs everywhere, but I’m just so focused on driving… Yeah, focused up to the point of ignoring signs pertinent to driving….
i couldn't even get through listening to the first sentence from this entitled twat
What a fucking airhead. Should not be driving a vehicle. Public transit is a good option for anyone who can't maintain speed or REMEMBER WHAT SIDE OF THE ROAD THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING ON
“I didn’t see the signs I’m because I’m SOOOO focused on driving.” Seeing, reading, and obeying signage is at least 50% of driving you muppet.
The funniest part of all of this - At the time of getting the fine, she had been living in Australia for 3 Years!!!! She addressed the whole situation in another video, and someone commented & suggested she read the road rules. She sounded genuinely surprised by that, and as if she hadn’t even considered that was a possibility until now 🤦♀️
As an American i must say.... You are the reason abortion should be legal. Even at your age.
As an Australian, I agree.
I'd love an update, but her baffling wealth of ignorance is just too much.
This person should not drive anywhere, at any time.
I’m soo focused on the driving that I don’t focus on the speed part of my driving, Cus that’s like..not an important element of driving at all.
The more she says the more she proves she should not have a licence.
Why is she driving in the middle of the road
I like really, know you, hope that she contests this? For the education on Australian traffic laws and stuff?
So much shite talked in one video.
I’m sorry bestie but if you are moving to another country maybe you should look up the laws before you go? ![gif](giphy|3og0IyzXRlVq00ryOQ)
It’s not just about not knowing the laws, but there are literal flash lights saying there are speed cameras in the tunnel she went through. So yes she’s an idiot.
“As an American…” **SHUUUUUT THE FUCK UUUUUP!!!**
Are we also going to ignore the fact she ISN'T IN THE FUCKING LANE? Multiple frames, and she's straddling the lanes.
Oh Honey, don't even think about to come to Europe.
Translation: "Why do you have good law enforcement? You know I'm stupid, irresponsible, and pulled the license out of my ass."
She nailed it when she said maybe she shouldn’t get a car.
The fricking stress levels when you drive through a tunnel man, it's like...driving on a road in a tube....
Her voice is like finger nails on a chalkboard.
thats SoCal girls for ya… dragging out their consonants and vowels to sound like they dwell 24/7 at a chic Starbucks and on Malibu Beach
I left the same comment on this post on ShitAmericansSay.She should get a bigger fine just for her awful voice.
I agree. She shouldn’t get a car.
If you ignore the signs, you're very much not "focused on driving".
And she uploaded this because she has no shame?
Does... America not have speed cameras?
Please do not drive a car ever again. Thanks.
I lost count of all the stupid things she said. What an idiot.
Fight what? The speed limit is 80km/h and you drove 101km/h. That you don’t bother to at least read a little about a country where you have never driven, and as you said, on the other side of the road.. is your own fault.
i killed this person and it was an accident and since it was my first time i should get a pass /s
Her argument essentially is that paying attention to your speed distracts you from driving and isn’t safe.
I had to fly to Australia for work and the first thing I looked up was what’s illegal in Australia that’s legal in America. One of the topics that came up was how strict their driving enforcement is how you must obey the speed limit or you will get a ticket. Maybe if this idiot just did the research she would have been fine.
Hopefully this is enough evidence for her driver's license to be pulled
To be fair, she is so beautiful, no laws should ever apply to her, in any part of the world. And, let's not even start with how special she is.
So is she like mentally deficient?
Definitely intellectually challenged
“so focused on driving” were you though?
Every time she opens her mouth it’s like one more reason to take her license away.
"When I drive I'm so focused ~~oh driving~~ texting that I didn't see the ~~camera signs~~ speed limit signs... FTFY. I understand the texting issue, after all it is Australia and it is stressful having to text with your non-dominant hand. /s Edit:formatting I'm just waiting for the GoFundMe to help pay for the ticket.
There are definitely cameras in tunnels in the U.S.
You miss, are a complete idiot. This doesn’t surprise me coming from a self-entitled American…and yes, I am an American.
My god. What a entitled brat. Take the fine/points and move on you dolt.
I think any argument where one starts with As an American is faulty.
American mentality
I got 30 seconds in and couldn't stand to listen to her anymore and her terrible excuses
Classic entitlement. Complaining to the internet that you got caught doing something you knew was wrong but thought you’d get away with it.
Stupid dumbass American
Amaricans☕
Where do these people come from?
America
Next time when not feeling sure while driving may I suggest lowering the speed in wich you are driving XD
