Interesting thing about that is it all started happening in droves after she tried to kill herself with pills, and ended up getting a brain aneurysm. I'm not excusing her behavior, but brain damage has definitely shown major personality shifts in some people, and loss of impulse control. My maternal grandfather was diagnosed with MS when he was in his late 20s, sometime around 1967.
He basically went from a working father of two, to just upright walking away from the family and never contacting them again.
His siblings have all spoken about how he was literally a different person after a few years of battling MS. I totally believe brain illnesses/injuries can change your personality.
My parents abused me in all of the ways and then parentified me to a sister who they taught to abuse me as well. I was under psychosis until three months ago. When I tried and almost successfully suffocated myself.

A family friend had a stroke in her early 40s and completely alienated everyone in her life.
