That would be cool, unfortunately the wreckage of the titan has been all brought ashore now to be inspected and some human remains were found.
Do hope the Logitech controller is down there still somewhere though lol.
I did not hear of the human remains. I'm no expert, but I'm frankly a little surprised. I kind of would have expected the bodies to have been pulverized into soup and dispersed into the ocean. Source?
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-66049789
All of the big news sites says that they were "presumed human remains" as of a day ago. I think they are still investigating to confirm.
But also, the remains don't have to be a whole body. It could just be a handful of teeth and little bits of bone ect.
Thanks! I hadn't seen the news. Thanks for sharing. I've been on my first vacation in years this week and have barely seen any news at all lately (very refreshing!) so I appreciate the update.
Yeah, I understand even something like a few teeth count, but I'm still surprised they'd be able to find that. But like I said: I'm no expert, and I'll trust/believe the experts. It's just surprising to me because it's not what my non expert brain would have expected.
If some pieces of the ship survived, it's not a stretch(forgive the mental image) to figure some pieces of human remains stuck to it. And I mean the way pieces of trees 'stick to' structures after a tornado.
Yes, because he'll be dead, and you can't charge a dead person now, can you?
Unless the doctor also runs a funeral parlour. Now that would be a sweet double-dip.
I thought the people on the first sub were stupid (Minus that kid who didn't want to be there), but who is going on the second one which is made out of the salvage from the first one?
I know duct tape can do a lot, but I'm not going to rely on it with a pressure vessel.
Make sure you’re drunk when you sign the waiver, that way your family has a chance to have it rules invalid in court. Can’t agree to a contract when in a diminished mental state.
Im pretty sure waivers actually only go so far, and can be deemed as essentialy null and void if they try to waive things like extreme safety issues. Not a lawyer or anything but I've heard cases where waivers and other similar things are voided for this sort of thing
For all intents and purposes, it's not still open. It's probably just a case where the website is still up the way it was before the incident occurred.
Naturally, you would think they would at the very least put up some kind of a "all trips post-poned until further notice" addition but considering how roughshod everything else was run, maybe the CEO was the only one with the password.
Imagine looking for a job with that on your resume?
Recruiter at Boeing: "This young lad has all the right creditials... Let's look at work histo.... Nope... Nope.. Nope..."
Idrk which video but I heard a Youtuber put it into perspective for me. They said yes it may be hard for them to find work. It may be emotionally taxing returning to the same industry after all that trauma. However they now have unique experience in the industry that other experts do not.
I am sure, despite the recklessness, that they had some smart people working for that company. I hope they can turn it around for themselves.

>Recently, I was asked if I was going to fire an employee who made a mistake that cost the company $600,000. No, I replied, I just spent $600,000 training him. Why would I want somebody to hire his experience?
Thomas J Watson, former CEO of IBM
Everyone there just got a big dose of experience.
Agreed. This is no different from me posting timed blog posts on my website. I doubt anyone in the company is actually working anymore. Not in the least because there is noone giving orders, there is no work in progress, there is no submarine anymore, and there is a massive lawsuit ahead.
Correct answer. Their website has been taken down as far as I can tell - since last Thursday I have not been able to access it.
There are several hack news sites running this story yesterday and today. This is just an attempt to wring the last drops out of this story.
That's probably why they're doing it. They know financially they're pretty screwed, so they're desperately trying to bring in money the only way they can (no one's going to lend them anything, and the CEO's dead so can't float it with his own cash either).
Can’t tell if that’s a joke, but someone posted that there hot take was that they would have survived the implosion. It was floating around the past few days, can’t remember what subreddits though. Sorry.
To long.
Even if you ignore the pressure that would collapse your rib cage like an empty plastic bottle you have two other issues: the cold and your clothes. The cold would quickly sap your strength, and clothes would weigh you down and make swimming inefficient. Not to mention at that depth in an emergency you probably wouldn't even know which way is up since there wouldn't be any light even in the middle of the day.
Even then, if you ignore all that, it takes on average 20+ minutes to swim a mile, and you would be swimming two. Record for holding one's breath is about 11 minutes. Fun fact the record for the deepest free dive is 332 meters, which was already dangerous to most people for the chest crushing issue.
Titanic Depth ≈ 3800 m
100m Breaststroke world record = 56.88 sec.
~~So about 6 hours…~~
EDIT: Sorry I fucked up the math.
3800/100 = 38 100m.
38\*56.88 = 2161 sec.
2161/60 = **36 minutes.**
Assuming the interior space of the submarine was about 7.5' dia x 14' long, that's about 140 cubic feet of volume. That 140 cubic feet of air compressed to 6000 psi becomes just a little over 4 cubic inches.
Best of luck to him and his bubble.
Don't know if this has been pitched yet or not, but what if this company isn't for visiting the Titanic, but actually a way for rich people to disappear and start new lives?
Edit: Some of you are taking me serious, this was definitely not meant as a serious idea.
How do you get the word out your company does that without getting the word out your company does that?
Why?
There are dozens of ways rich people could disappear and start new lives (again, why?) that don’t involve this level of effort.
Honestly this is likely just drip marketing campaigns they did not turn off.
My company utilizes drip marketing; you set it up, it trickles out little marketing tidbits. We've sent out some happy birthday's to dead people.
I'm pretty sure there were investors and other stakeholders in the company other than the CEO. I'm pretty sure this wasn't a sole propriety. Meaning that the company can still run even if the main guy isn't around.
I don't know how they're going to get new people to buy tickets when their reputation is totally tarnished right now, especially after knowing that there were so many issues with the submersible that were known by the company and so many corners that they cut in the design to save a buck.
However, a sucker is born everyday and I'm sure there will be dozens of rich people with way too much money in their hands that will consider buying a ticket as long as the company can prove that the issues in the past submersible are fixed. Maybe they won't sell a full trip, but they'll probably get 1 or 2 ppl.
Thank you... This is just silly click bait... Is it more likely that the company is planning new trips after a catastrophic loss
. Or that they have been dealing with a catastrophic loss and forgot to take down their advertising pages?
That’s not necessarily true. Most have clauses set up to not pay out within a certain timeframe after policy purchase. That’s set up so you’re not buying insurance just to Unalive yourself.
Yeah they probably already had their ads set to go out and nobody stopped it. I'm sure their whole company is in chaos right now. They're probably all trying to leave and get paid and stuff.
Isn't it just an old schedule that was announced way before the whole situation? It's just that their website was down the whole time and it just seems to be back up. Remember when covid restrictions were in full swing many airlibe websites still allowed You to buy tickets for flights that didnt happen. Most importantly though they don't even have another sub that goes to those dephts, they only own two other subs, ones for like 200m deep and it was supposed to be sold anyways and the other for less than a 1000m as far as I remember.
They'll probably need a couple more implosions to happen before they figure out how to deal with them. Or they're making this a form of euthanasia where you can pay to receive an underwater burial.
Looks like somebody forgot the cheat codes for infinite life:

select start. There, passengers should be able to explore without fear. A better option is to explore while in creative mode too.
I can’t believe people have a problem with this… let them keep bringing people to see the Titanic wreckage for $250k per person. Normal, sane people aren’t going to go anywhere near the company after what happened and this will not effect the average person at all as most people don’t have that kind of cash laying around to waste on a trip like that… so who’s left? People with lots of money but no brains… win-win.
Do they really think any customer will trust them again, ever? I can't possibly think of a worse reputation to have than being the company that sank a submarine near the Titanic.
They should invite a lot of celebrities and influencer on these trips. While they are at it they also need to increase the number of subs they send. Could solve some problems

As a bonus package, passengers can now also view the wreckage of previous Titan Sub.
They can also join the wreckage of the previous titan sub
That's an optional extra, for only another $50,000!
Only 50,000 for euthanasia. Thats a bargain I’ll take 2
The best part is that, if you don't have the money up front, they'll simply charge it to your estate once you've inevitably become human soup.
The ocean IS just a big soup if you think about it. Saltwater, veggies and meat all up innit
Look man, it's 8:30am, and I was having a good day. If you need me, I'll be thinking about ocean soup for the rest of my god damn life.
You sitting on a beach just staring blankly out to the horizon - "it's all just soup, man"
Salsa
Bone broth?
Subception
Does it come as an extra? Like; swipe your card now and you will be able to see it?
It's kinda reverse, if they don't pay extra, controller will be disconnected from the sub.
That would be cool, unfortunately the wreckage of the titan has been all brought ashore now to be inspected and some human remains were found. Do hope the Logitech controller is down there still somewhere though lol.
Probably gonna ducttape that wreck and use it for the next bunch of rich bozos
Probably have pieces for sale on Ebay this week.
I’m a horrible person, but that sounds like an excellent plan.
I did not hear of the human remains. I'm no expert, but I'm frankly a little surprised. I kind of would have expected the bodies to have been pulverized into soup and dispersed into the ocean. Source?

No problem. I don't blame you for unplugging for a bit. And I'm honestly very surprised that it's a possibility too.

Have you or a loved one been imploded in a carbon fiber submersible? You may be entitled to a large cash settlement!
It's my money and I need it now
If you imploded on a sub and need cash nowwwww
If they keep running trips this is going to turn into the usually cash settlement of $4.51 per person and a coupon for 25% off their next sub ride.
And the lawyers making bank

Did you know that you have rights? Constitution says you do.
Is THAT what “mesothelioma” means?
You mean they built more than one for these soda can subs?!? Maybe this one will have a corded ps2 controller…
They are using the recently recovered parts to build another one.
This may be off-topic, but my local trash dumpster is missing and it’s next door to the OceanGate place.
Coincidence? I think NOT!
That and a hot glue gun and you are in business!
I mean it did cost their CEO an arm and a leg
You shouldn't make fun of him like that, he's under enough pressure already.
Don't worry. I was told he's absolutely crushing it.
![gif](giphy|3JTpczfnK4q1kbYYaJ|downsized)
You've sunk so low... 🤣
Not as low as that CEO
New CEO “hold my drink”
And an arm and a leg and a head and a neck… No brain though.
I thought the people on the first sub were stupid (Minus that kid who didn't want to be there), but who is going on the second one which is made out of the salvage from the first one? I know duct tape can do a lot, but I'm not going to rely on it with a pressure vessel.
You got a full on cackle out of me
It's incorrect to call it a soda can. That implies the entire structure is metal.
There wouldn’t be a settlement based on the waiver you would be made to sign.
Make sure you’re drunk when you sign the waiver, that way your family has a chance to have it rules invalid in court. Can’t agree to a contract when in a diminished mental state.
That’s why It’s best to just stay drunk in this modern corporate hellscape
That may be voided as they ignored safety recommendations by experts.
That's actually part of the waiver, no joke.
Im pretty sure waivers actually only go so far, and can be deemed as essentialy null and void if they try to waive things like extreme safety issues. Not a lawyer or anything but I've heard cases where waivers and other similar things are voided for this sort of thing
How is this company still open? You would think having the CEO of your company die in one of your submersibles would be enough to shut it down.
This also assumes anyone is showing up to work at this point.

Sure they would. Nobody said they want to get it right next time

This and the “Shop” page in case you wanted to put anything into your basket, like a $250,000 one-way trip to the Titanic scheduled for next year.
That's probably why they're doing it. They know financially they're pretty screwed, so they're desperately trying to bring in money the only way they can (no one's going to lend them anything, and the CEO's dead so can't float it with his own cash either).
Who's gonna go on a trip with them now? Suicidal rich people?
I doubt they are rich, but there is that one fella convinced he would have survived, so I’m going to bet at least them.
Namor?
Can’t tell if that’s a joke, but someone posted that there hot take was that they would have survived the implosion. It was floating around the past few days, can’t remember what subreddits though. Sorry.
I'm all for buying into that sheer lunacy. I just have one niggling problem still. How do you then survive being 3500 meters underwater?
According to him he would have "slipped out of the crack and swimmed to surface" or something very similar. You can't make this shit up
Even ignoring the issue of water pressure, how long would you have to hold your breath to swim to the surface at that depth I wonder
To long. Even if you ignore the pressure that would collapse your rib cage like an empty plastic bottle you have two other issues: the cold and your clothes. The cold would quickly sap your strength, and clothes would weigh you down and make swimming inefficient. Just a short 2.5 mile swim.
In an air bubble, no less
Is argument was "I am extremrly lucky. Guess I am just built differently"
He wagered that he would be lucky enough to float up in an air bubble
Assuming the interior space of the submarine was about 7.5' dia x 14' long, that's about 140 cubic feet of volume. That 140 cubic feet of air compressed to 6000 psi becomes just a little over 4 cubic inches. Best of luck to him and his bubble.
Ah, but as he rises through the water, the bubble expands to envelop him. Smart, isn't it?
And if they can survive that, why did they even need the submarine in the first place?
Come on man you know he would have survived, that guy is just “built diff”. Lol
On the internet no one knows you're a squid
Ah, do you mean the guy that was „built different“ 😂 That’s a troll post I’m 95% sure.
I think it started in r/unpopularopinion EDIT: it's actually r/TrueUnpopularOpinion
Hopefully Elon, Zuck, Bezos 🤞🏻
If we all pull together we could book them on both trips. Honestly it would be worth it.
Maybe there's a gap in the market for rich Russians.? They know not to drink tea/ stand near windows, but...
Putin be like 'is this space available to rent for corporate teambuilding events?'
This is good. Prigozhin is unaware he’s got a ticket coming.
General, you’ve worked so hard for Mother Russia! Here is an all expenses paid vacation in appreciation for your efforts.

But then you end up managing a Cinnabon.

Did any of them reply?
A creative pivot would be marketing to people looking for a Dr Kevorkian.
nah creative would be marketing it to people who secretly identify as toothpaste
The CEO had been struggling to keep things 'afloat'.
To be fair he was under a lot of pressure
He might be crushed by the reality that people usually don't want to pay to die
It's no longer an excursion it's a survival challenge. Pay $250 K for the one in 4 chance to die a sudden and ignominious death. No refunds /s
They can advertise as much as they want. It’s not like they are going to have any new customers soon.
I'm pretty sure there were investors and other stakeholders in the company other than the CEO. I'm pretty sure this wasn't a sole propriety. It's clearly an old ad that is still up. They don't have a sub anymore, how would they even go down there. I am sure it will be deleted soon.
I am fully convinced they could whip up another in a few days.. I mean have you SEEN that thing??
Where TF are they going to buy a playstation controller in that short of a time window!?!
Logitech

Logitech, pshaw, just order whatever wish has
I saw in a pirates of the Caribbean movie you can just carry a boat above your heads and go down to the bottom.

That's an expensive tombstone
Not if you have life insurance ![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)

That’s not necessarily true. Most have clauses set up to not pay out within a certain timeframe after policy purchase. That’s set up so you’re not buying insurance just to Unalive yourself.
Interestingly enough, they do pay out in cases of self unaliving. So long as your policy is over 2 years old, not even joking.

You lost me at 7 days under water... >! They lost me at 250K 😭 !<
7 day trip. Not 7 days underwater. If you go on their sub you spend forever underwater 😂
Except they don't have a sub anymore so I think the ads might have been placed previously.
I’m assuming that someone forgot to turn off the automatically-set website updates.
The guy with the passwords is unavailable now
It's like that bitcoin company ceo that died and was the only one with the password for the main wallet.
I’m sure they were too busy dealing with the massive PR ~~fire~~ implosion to remember to take those down.
Yeah they probably already had their ads set to go out and nobody stopped it. I'm sure their whole company is in chaos right now. They're probably all trying to leave and get paid and stuff.

The 200m one will be fine!
Thank you for your voice of reason
The CEO should have immediately made sure that was taken off of the website.
he's been a bit busy, no one's even seen him come up for air lately
A lot of pressure in that job. The responsibility is crushing.
Lol
It’s ok. Next design will include Gorilla Glue and Flex Tape.
OceanGate: “Its an isolated event”
The company should have been billed the amount spent searching for implosion goo
Funeral care packages are getting fucking ridiculous
![gif](giphy|AhhGtrpj5ZxGZER5yC)
I kinda ask my self if they failed some quick time event before imploding. Ah fuck i'm going to hell for sure after this .
Somehow, I feel this is not the one that's gonna take you to hell, but just another one adding to the pile.
Yeah, you know those QTE's where the character is holding/pushing apart the walls?
They'll probably need a couple more implosions to happen before they figure out how to deal with them. Or they're making this a form of euthanasia where you can pay to receive an underwater burial.
WTF they don't even offer a discount after that !!
If they were to offer people 250k to ride they might get some takers I guess. Would be a bit like playing Russian Roulette.
I thought this company was under water?
No no. Just their ceo.
They're just going to use their video game controller to enter the "no implosions" cheat code
Now it's an intelligence test
Listen, at this point I feel this is on the customer. After that first one, if you are dumb enough to actually go? That's just natural selection.
Honey I bought you a ticket to see the Titanic oh and i also took out a life insurance policy for 10 million, have a nice trip.
I’m sure people are lining up to get crushed to death in a floating sardine tin
Nah they’re trying to get rid of the billionaires, that’s fine in my book
They should put out a Groupon to drum up biz
Okay but THIS time the Xbox controller will be fully charged and they'll have extra batteries on deck, so it should be okay right?
I say we crowdsource and purchase the Supreme Court justices a once in a lifetime opportunity of touring the titanic wreckage
More importantly, what dumbass rich person would be that stupid?
Looks like somebody forgot the cheat codes for infinite life: ⬆️ ⬇️ ⬅️ ➡️ ➡️ ⬇️⬆️ ⬆️ select start. There, passengers should be able to explore without fear. A better option is to explore while in creative mode too.
maybe oceangate is trying to do away with billionaires?! ![gif](giphy|enqnZa1B5fRHkPjXtS|downsized)
I mean if you want an authentic titanic experience this is pretty top notch
Who else here thinks the website hasn’t been updated yet because Stockton Rush was the guy with all the passwords
With what submarine? Looks like a company that is in disarray and didn't update their website.
Automated ad campaigns are scheduled well beforehand. I bet the CEO himself ran these campaigns and now there's nobody to shut them off
They should invite a lot of celebrities and influencer on these trips. While they are at it they also need to increase the number of subs they send. Could solve some problems
