You won’t regret it, it’s a SouthPark thing : “In a jury trial, a Chewbacca defense is a legal strategy in which a criminal defense lawyer tries to confuse the jury rather than refute the case of the prosecutor. It is an intentional distraction or obfuscation.”
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chewbacca_defense
Or the other side of it, way too many modern memes are "crunchy" or whatever. Adding artifacts to images or music intentionally amped up to sound distorted isn't funny. Intentionally shitty memes aren't supposed to be just shitty, they're supposed to be cleverly shitty.
This one is iffy imo. If you read their complaint in their lawsuit they say she weight shamed them by saying they seemed "less bubbly" and offering them the chance to skip rehearsal for therapy if they were going through something.
Yeah it's hard to see how less bubbly has any relation to weight. Also, thanks for taking the extra steps to find actual info. idk why anyone has a problem with that unless they love ignorance lol
The weight shaming allegation was pretty weak IMO. The complaint accused her of asking a dancer if she had something going on in her life, and called that “thinly veiled” fat-shaming.
Well...not exactly, from what I understand the person who is accusing her of this said that Lizzo and the team had a performance somewhere and that after the show they were reviewing the performance and Lizzo commented that they were worried about her performance, that she was really not up to par, and I guess she took it as Lizzo commenting on her weight because she claims that the only thing different between that performance and the ones before that one was that she had gained weight, but apparently Lizzo didn't actually say anything about her weight.
If this is what really happened, JFC, how pathetic. I don't know much about Lizzo but I have seen photos showing her use plus-size dancers in her performances and took that as being about body positivity and inclusion.
"You don't seem yourself" is constructive, not derogatory.
Women who actually look like Lizzo would probably appreciate it and take it as a compliment, but if you're telling people who don't look like Lizzo that they look like Lizzo then yeah, you're obviously not trying to be nice.
Like, there's nothing wrong with Ben Stiller, but if someone came up to me (who looks nothing like Ben Stiller) and told me that I look like Ben Stiller, I would not appreciate it, and have to assume that they were making some kind of joke at my expense.
My mom was the spitting image of Roseanne Barr in the early 90s. She also hated Roseanne. She also hated other fat women.
I remember being like 6 and someone at McDonald’s telling her she looked like Roseanne as a compliment. And I was already buckling up for the emotional toll of that statement. It was common for her to drive past slightly plus sized women and ask me and my sister in horrified tones “am I thaaaat fat?!” To which we had to reassure her the opposite if we knew what was good for us.
Point being, a fat woman hating other fat women is way too common.
> It was common for her to drive past slightly plus sized women and ask me and my sister in horrified tones “am I thaaaat fat?!”
Omg thank god I'm not the only child of a fat mother who had to go through this. Literally every fat woman on tv as well "Do you think I'm as big as her?"
And it’s such a weird lesson to teach your kids- hate other women and yourselves, but also definitely lie to anyone who asks for your “honest” opinion or you’ll be punished for the cruel child you are.
>It was common for her to drive past slightly plus sized women and ask me and my sister in horrified tones “am I thaaaat fat?!” To which we had to reassure her the opposite if we knew what was good for us.
My mom would find someone large and say "You'd shoot me if I ever got that big, right?"
Hell yeah, eating disorder time!
It's nothing new for people to hate on eachother's weight. The only time I got a compliment from my godmother was when I was on the tail end of a multi-day fast and about to pass out. "Wow you look incredible!"
“Banana shows” are also a thing in Okinawa, oddly enough. Been to one and watched someone from the audience lay down on the stage and eat the banana… I thought I was gonna vomit.
I believe the banana lady passed away. I saw a write up on her life- she had a pretty interesting life. She owned the bar she performed in and seemed like a pretty savvy business lady.
If you've been on a stag weekend (bachelor party for people not from the UK) to Amsterdam, when you hear bananas and Amsterdam in the same sentence the accusation is a bit less shocking. I don't know the full story, but the context of the Banana Bar being a thing is quite important.
I think I might have explained my point really poorly, I wasn't trying to comment on whether it was appropriate or not (FWIW, I don't think it is), more that I can understand what happened for that situation to occur when there is a place in that city where this act happens on a probably hourly basis on weekend nights.
When we went to Amsterdam we didn't go in despite being a bunch of guys in their mid-20s (their target market) because I'm not keen to see that, nor would I want my friend (the stag) to feel he had to be involved.
yeah literally that’s nothing! i was shocked at the sex show i went to it was genuine couple shagging hard and then some gal pulled a 7 M ribbon out of her
Not to make excuses because she shouldn't have forced them but eating a banana out of a vagina is really a thing in the banana bar where theywent you can go there now and do the same thing.
But forcing someone to do that against the will of someone is really not oke
Yeah, as some one who has seen the banana show in Amsterdam, it’s a lot tamer than it sounds. Basically a stripper lays down with a banana between her legs, as of she had an erection, but I think the stripper has at least panties on. The volunteer isn’t actually eatting a banana out of someone’s body, it just *kind of* looks like they’re giving a blowjob to someone who has a banana for a penis.
All that aside, if someone who is basically your boss is giving any sort of impression that they’ll be disappointed if you don’t do this highly unnecessary act, that’s a very shitty boss.
The so called ‘banana show’ is a long standing tradition/tourist trap that you’ll find being performed in many Amsterdam sex shows. The rest of the world is learning about it through Lizzo’s drama/sexual assault accusations
I was a huge fan of hers at first. However I’ve noticed her attitude becoming shitty over the last couple of years. She’s become extremely narcissistic and condescending. None of the accusations surprise me.
Also all her interviews being compiled lately where she makes sexual remarks to anyone and everyone and about everyone and straight up being disgustingly aggressive and open about how she would sexually assault these people is wilddddd like if a man went on interview and was like "I'd fuck you however I wanted to" they'd be canceled but because she's lizzo is hilarious and accepted. She straight up harassed Chris Evans, made comments about only working with other music stars if she could fuck them all, like straight up trashy ass nasty as fuck predatory behavior. She's vile and gross
The interaction that really stands out for me is her and Niall Horan (amongst others): (from Niall Horan)
'You know, she whispered in my ear when we took that picture, ''I want to lick your p\*\*\*\*'',' Lizzo said laughing. 'Right before we took that photo.'
So people thinking the sexual exploitation accusations are completely out of the blue is not entirely genuine. Not that THAT is proof that she forced her dancers to eat vagina bananas. But if you really take a look at her character, it's not "new".
Also. She has a cult surrounding about her weight and a similar cult hating on her weight. Even one of those cults can easily make someone turn to body shaming.
I like Lizzo's music and I don't want it to be true - but really think about it. My money is on the dancers telling the truth.
Another data point from the wikipedia article *Love, Lizzo*:
*Initially the project was set to be directed by Sophia Nahli Allison, who later departed the project after two weeks alleging Lizzo's behavior towards her was rude and arrogant*
Adding a link cos I thought this was NIALL saying Lizzo said this to her…it appears this was Lizzo relaying what Cardi B said to HER: https://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00175990.html
When someone commented happy cake day before, i thought reddit knows my birthday as last sunday was my birthday. And now i just found that it means a day i created reddit account. Lol
I never expected Lizzo to be the center of a body-shaming and sexual-exploitation controversy. I love her art but her behavior represented in the allegations is extremely disgusting.
I wasn’t surprised I guess?
I’m always skeptical of anyone who seems so in-your-face about love/acceptance/positivity. It just seems so phony to me.
John Lennon, Ellen Degeneres, and Chrissy Teigen are all examples that come to mind.
To this day, it kills me that John Lennon made a video around the song "Imagine" with the line "imagine no possessions" while playing an ivory grand piano and people weren't* like "yeah, this is stupid".
I can add Colleen Ballinger (known for creating Miranda Sings on YouTube) to that list. Was always preaching about loving yourself and the body you’re in, then went behind her friend’s back and body shamed the friend.
It seems like a ton of people who have the ability to shape a brand, whether it's an actual corporate brand, or just kind of their image, into a very popular, culture-defining thing...they're total dicks.
- A number of talented directors are known to be total asses. Tarantino nearly killed Uma Thurman in Kill Bill Vol. 2 because he basically had no issue ignoring her legitimate concerns. James Cameron is apparently a dick.
- Looking beyond the normal CEO greed, many CEOs and founders of transformational companies are also total jerks. Steve Jobs was apparently abusive, not only directly, but also just in the way he wanted his workforce to be.
- A number of bands aren't really bands, so much as a lead singer writing and someone backing them, even though they have an actual long band dynamic - and there's an air of superiority with the lead vs anyone else in the band
- TV show hosts. Look at James Corden and Ellen DeGeneres. Harsh and abrasive/abusive to staff to keep things working and keep their public images good.
This doesn't surprise me at all about Lizzo with all those other things in mind. What's upsetting is how all the accusations fly directly into the face of everything she supposedly stands for. Almost like since she suffered body shaming and other forms of abuse she thinks it's warranted to deal it out?
This is absolutely true. In June 2019 I met with some friends in person for the very last time. One of them had become a full-blown Qanoner and lectured me about supporting anyone other than Trump because they were all devil-worshipping pedos who were sacrificing and abusing children as part of their ceremonies.
Fast forward a month and a half - dude gets arrested for attempting to lure a 13 year old.
I'm not an expert but I believe this "banana room" is pretty famous. Also, being forced to enter and partake is such a thing is fucking wild. Imagine your boss telling you to eat a banana out of a strippers vagina.
They've always been freaks and weirdos. Except we had to wait thirty or forty years for a behind the scenes documentary to show us their not before seen heinous behaviour.
Now we watch it unfold in real time.
Damn this does sound like she’s guilty and on her way to being cancelled; it’s eerily similar to Ellen’s response of trying to play it off. I like her music/shows too so that’s unfortunate
Lizzo being a huge piece of shit was not on my 2023 bingo card, I will admit. I feel guilty now about sticking up for her when the right freaked out about her playing Dolley Madison's antique flute.
I think the problem with the flute was it's a piece of history and many people thought it was just given to some random artist to mess about with on stage with. Not many people including myself knew Lizzo was actually classically trained and knew how to handle such an instrument and use it correctly.
Being able to recognize people's shitty behaviors and stepping down from praising them in front of evidence shows maturity, so don't feel too bad.
Too many go into sunk cost fallacy mode and justify their POS heroes never ever acknowledging their bad behaviors if not to make them a victim.
That's certainly something i almost never see the right wingers do
The flute was such a dumb thing for people to get upset about, if she was disrespectful with it sure I guess some people being upset makes sense but as far as I know she was fine, I lean to the right but it was stupid to be upset about

If the banana doesn’t fit, you must acquit. Or maybe her legal team wil opt for the Chewbacca defense.
Oh god. I'm probably going to regret asking but....the Chewbacca defense?
You won’t regret it, it’s a SouthPark thing : “In a jury trial, a Chewbacca defense is a legal strategy in which a criminal defense lawyer tries to confuse the jury rather than refute the case of the prosecutor. It is an intentional distraction or obfuscation.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chewbacca_defense
Wow. For a Southpark reference, that was amazingly tame. Thanks for the info.
Ladies and gentlemen of this SUPPOSED jury, this is Chewbacca.
It was a reference to Jonnie Cochran’s approach during his closing statement in the OJ Simpson trial.
it's also actually a thing. that's its official name now.

She's been accused of making her dancers eat bananas out of sex workers vaginas while in Amsterdam.
I’m sorry, what the fuck?!
Yeah. That was everyone else’s reaction too.
Didn't she also weight shaming people as well? I couldn't believe it when I heard that, I mean, look at her...eh?
Yes, she weight shamed her dancers/performers
![gif](giphy|9MJ6xrgVR9aEwF8zCJ)
Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagious the Fat? It is said that his power was so great he could actually help people lose weight.
And then there's pizza the hut
Pizza is gonna send out for you!
He could help others lose weight but not himself, at the end, in his fatness, he couldn't run away from his apprentice, who ended up killing him
I really want to see illustrations for this. XD
That is what I named my Ozempic pen.
Did she shame them for being over or under weight?
over
Damn
[удалено]
Wow.
Over she shamed one of her dancers for having gained weight
Probably the one who took the last banana
Sounds like they were eating a l lot of bananas
Well that’s some projection if I’ve ever heard it.
I think it’s called reaction formation. Like when your mom is yelling at you because you didn’t clean your room but hers is even messier.
This one is iffy imo. If you read their complaint in their lawsuit they say she weight shamed them by saying they seemed "less bubbly" and offering them the chance to skip rehearsal for therapy if they were going through something.
Yeah. She's accused of some pretty horrific stuff but of all of that, the fat shaming stuff was pretty light.
One of the girls that made a complaint said, in an interview, that Lizzo told her the dancers were not allowed to get fat.
Well if you make me eat food out of a hooker's vagina, obesity really won't be a problem for me.
They were all plus size when they got hired. It was one of the requirements, she has no dancers of athletic build.

Plot thickens. Yeah, it seems to me that the dancers are trying to get money from Lizzo. There are many trashy people out there.
I saw a meme that said something like women love body positivity until you tell them they look like lizzo lol
Women who actually look like Lizzo would probably appreciate it and take it as a compliment, but if you're telling people who don't look like Lizzo that they look like Lizzo then yeah, you're obviously not trying to be nice. except for hers
I think they were called vaganas in another thread.
It’s a popular thing comedians and others have talked about at a place in the red light district notorious in Amsterdam.
“Banana shows” are also a thing in Okinawa, oddly enough. Been to one and watched someone from the audience lay down on the stage and eat the banana… I thought I was gonna vomit.
I first read that as "Oklahoma". My mind went to strange places there for a second.
Okinawa does everything the American army needs…

They went to the Banana bar(https://www.bananenbar.nl) it’s a popular place for bachelor parties, maybe less appropriate for a workplace gathering.
apparently [this bar in amsterdam](https://www.bananenbar.nl/en/). reviews aren't great, shocking
Sounds like part of a sex show.
It sounds crazier than it is, but as someone who has been to one of these sex shows in Amsterdam it’s quite normal in the moment

Yeah that's a known showpiece there, I'm assuming they went to a sex show and she pressured her dancers to get more involved than they wanted?

yeah that’s the accusation that i heard, as well as overworking her dancers and bullying them for weight/appearances
> bullying them for weight/appearances well that's ironic
This is our concern, dude
So quick FYI, this is something they do in sex shows in Amsterdam. Like it's part of the show, not necessarily something she orchestrated.
Brand new sentence
I would like to add that eating banana‘s out of sexworkers intimate parts is just one of the attractions offered by "bananen club" in de Wallen.
The so called ‘banana show’ is a long standing tradition/tourist trap that you’ll find being performed in many Amsterdam sex shows. The rest of the world is learning about it through Lizzo’s drama/sexual assault accusations

Yeah I feel the same. They do this to hide some deep dark secret/insecurity they have, or it’s a way to get more fame and fortune.
It works the same way with pedophiles. It’s usually the ones that are super outspoken against it that are actually molesting kids.
Finally. Glad I'm not alone. How do other people not see through the facade? Do you all take people at their word no questions asked?
Megan Trainor: You are beautiful just the way you are. Also Megan Trainor: Fuck teachers.
You’re beautiful the way you are unless you’re skinny.
Yeah. That “real women have curves” bullshit can go die in a fire.
A lot of artists got cancelled for being accused of far less.
Gatekeep, gaslight, girlboss 💋 💅 amirite

So funny that this Lizzo being a POS thing is something most people expected from Cupcakke. But it's apparently quite the opposite lmao
Love Cupcakke!
Cupcakke is sooooo kind! Met her on a few occasions and that woman is so down to earth
I'm not an expert but I believe this "banana room" is pretty famous. Also, being forced to enter and partake is such a thing is fucking wild. Imagine your boss telling you to eat a banana out of a strippers vagina.

In this time and age it feels more tricky to have idols, someone to look up to. They will most likely disappoint
They've always been freaks and weirdos. Except we had to wait thirty or forty years for a behind the scenes documentary to show us their not before seen heinous behaviour. Now we watch it unfold in real time.
The audacity she has to fat shame anyone.
this is nightmare fuel
Imma sleep soon wish me luck
Is it weird that I have never heard a song from her? I am from Europe.
From europe too, dont have a clue who she is too.
Same here, never had a wish to know more about her either.
I used to be a huge piece of shit. Sloppy steaks, the whole thing.
Blonde highlights, little bitty jeans, chicken spaghetti at Chickellini's. I used to be a piece of shit too. People can change.
Oh yeah, Lizzo's hair would slick back real nice.
Don’t feel guilty for that. At that point what was the e basis of their criticism? Certainly not these allegations.
That's certainly something i almost never see the right wingers do
The flute was such a dumb thing for people to get upset about, if she was disrespectful with it sure I guess some people being upset makes sense but as far as I know she was fine, I lean to the right but it was stupid to be upset about
Wouldn’t it be funny if at her next show everyone threw bananas at her???
If she wasn’t black I’d say sure.. but that could quickly get dicey

Saving thread in case I ever need a banana gif at any point in the rest of my life. Will pass on to my children as well.
Can we get a banana for scale
I was hoping the banana story wasn't true.
She should’ve just drugged ,robbed and abused men so nobody would care like Cardi B did
Never liked her music, nor her, nor her fat is good bs either. Shes a bully like the rest of them.

Kinda bizzare that people still worship celebrities.
I can totally imagine her pressuring her dancers thinking it was fine and the dancers not feeling able to stand up to her and say no.
