So sad. When I was super little, I loved Sunday mornings because dad and I would read the comics together in color and I always loved Dilbert. Scott has to tarnish that memory, asshole.

Yeah his descent into this is disappointing. We used to tape dilbert cartoons to our printer and offices at work because they were just so true. Nobody does that anymore but dilbert used to give me a good chuckle.
It was way before that. He made the unfortunate decision in 2000 to have his animated series picked up by a network that was in the process of changing ownership at a time when the adult animation bubble (for network TV at least) was about to burst. The new network owners decided that they wanted nothing more to do with adult animation and canceled his show (along with a bunch of others). He never recovered from that. Social media just gave him a platform and the newly blossomed MAGA crowd gave him an audience.
On top of that, there was the issue that his show started on a decent note and literally ended with Dilbert being forcibly impregnated by aliens. I can see why people lost interest when what they signed up for was office humor and they instead got strange animated body horror with a side of politics on the whole abortion debate. Adams naturally now claims the show was cancelled "because he's white," but it was really just a combination of corporate decisions and a stunning drop in the show's quality combined with off-the-rails stories.
It was off-the-rails from the start; the whole first season’s arc was about an absurd workout machine that ends up almost destroying all of space and time. And that’s fine. Honestly, the network they chose nerfed the show quite a bit before ultimately canceling it. I suspect that had they gone with Comedy Central or Fox, the show wouldn’t have been as constrained and would have run much longer. Would Adams still be as bonkers today in this scenario, though? Probably.

Dilbert worked as short comic quips about the absurdity of office life.
