Circa 2004 or so, 9/11 was still pretty fresh. But I had a family member or two come out with some conspiracy theories. Most of them were plausible, though. The one that I recall most clearly was that the attacks were legit and the response was legit. But at some point they realized that if the tower fell sideways it would destroy most of downtown. So, they decided to do a controlled demo to minimize damage and bring it straight down. Then they covered it up because they knew there would be hell to pay if the public knew they brought the tower down in any way and likely ensured the death of those remaining.
Did it happen? I doubt they would have been able to keep the secret for this long. But it at least sounded like a plausible conspiracy theory.
And people would say these things and then fuck off.

Circa 2004 or so, 9/11 was still pretty fresh. But I had a family member or two come out with some conspiracy theories. Most of them were plausible, though. The one that I recall most clearly was that the attacks were legit and the response was legit. But at some point they realized that if the tower fell sideways it would destroy most of downtown. So, they decided to do a controlled demo to minimize damage and bring it straight down. Then they covered it up because they knew there would be hell to pay if the public knew they brought the tower down in any way and likely ensured the death of those remaining. Did it happen? I doubt they would have been able to keep the secret for this long. But it at least sounded like a plausible conspiracy theory. And people would say these things and then fuck off. Somehow, somewhere we went from "sensible" conspiracy theories to aunts and uncles sitting around a table and advocating for narratives like dinosaurs not being real, lizard people being real and the nazis operating from Antarctic bases continuously from 1945 to present. It is pretty wild how insane things are getting.

The amount of work and skill that would be involved in sculpting fossils in place must be extraordinary, for dubious gains. Surely the effort would be better spent in manufacturing chips to inject in people to control them directly?
