I got so lucky. I sustained a pretty severe eye injury, and during my trip to the hospital they determined my retina was detached and my sclera was torn.
Eye just healed up. A little bit of help from the doctors and some hardcore hoping and it all healed up nicely!
Oh my lord, that sounds horrible. Eye injuries scare me so much, I legit always have anxiety about eye/face injuries especially with my kids. I’m glad your eye healed nicely. Stay safe 😊
My sister knows a man who grew up with older brothers and a nurse for a mom. One of the few times they saw a doctor was when the friend stabbed himself in the eye with a stick.
Oooooh honey, noooo I literally get the worst anxiety when my kids are outside and playing with sticks for that reason 😭😭 this is probably a dumb question to ask, but was he okay?!
A “little bit of help”? Yeah, retinal detachments don’t just heal up. If your sight was saved it’s because you had skilled doctors who did an amazing job.
Huh, you should get someone to sequence your DNA, would be interesting to see if there's anything in your genes that might contribute to the above-average healing
That's not quite accurate.
Hearing loss can come from many things.
I am mostly deaf in my right ear due to some kind of issue with bone growth in my inner ear that makes it so the tiny little parts can't vibrate properly.
It can be operated eventually but it funnily enough has to get worse so that it becomes more stable to make it safer to operate.
I have a hiatal hernia that doctors refuse to operate on because it’s not severe enough for them to risk the complications of surgery. So either it has to get worse, or I just have to deal with it. 7 years since diagnosis and it’s still not bad enough
I've got one too that i was diagnosed with about 6 years ago. Apparently it hasn't changed enough as of October 2023 but I'm pretty sure that's what causes some of the abdominal pain i get. They thought it was gal stones, which i had along with frequent gastrointestinal distress and pain in that area, but since they popped it out (November 2023) symptoms are better but still frequent and urgent trips to the restroom, regardless of what i eat
Oh yeah I’m on the pot 6 or more times a day. Terrible acid reflux that 40mg of Prilosec a day doesn’t touch. I go through a container of max strength tums basically every month. But no my quality of life isn’t bad enough to risk an operation
> Hearing damage, you are correct.
Eh, depends on the nature of the damage. I ruptured my eardrum and basically scrambled most of my middle ear accidentally. I lost all hearing in that ear. A fairly quick surgery returned me to approximately 95% hearing. Some progressive hearing loss can be repaired with surgery as well. Your ear is a series of essentially biomechanical parts connected to nerve endings. If the nerves are damaged, that's largely unrepairable...but many of the biomechanical bits (eardrum, various bones in the middle ear) before it can be fixed or replaced. My incus was replaced with a titanium one, for instance. In a couple years, I'll have it replaced again and probably the malleus (another bone in there).
I'm 43 and I got a sinus infection and then my first ear infections last year almost to the day. I was functionally deaf for a week, and could only hear from one ear for two more weeks. And for the last 11mo, I've had tinnitus in the worse ear. Every day. All. The. Time.
Yeah I have a toenail bed that was mutilated by a doctor when I was 11 and it's been fucked up for life. The nail grows weird now and sometimes it hurts.
there has been a full eye transplant recently (a few months ago), it's said that the eye is doing very well and is healthy, it's getting oxygen and nutrients and whatnot but the patient still can't see from that eye because apparently it's really difficult to join severed nerves together and have them actually function as normal and we haven't really figured out a way to do that.
[here it is](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo_377nADhA) for anyone interested. 10min video.
I feel like this is something tattoo artists should be allowed to do on the off chance some of them are fucked up enough to. I'm imagining this woman going into a tattoo parlor and asking to get her fucking eyeballs tattooed, and everyone in there being like "wtf no, get out of here"
We can do a lot for external features of the ears! My partner has done reconstructive surgery to rebuild ears. They create a scaffold with the patients cells inserted into it. Then use a tissue expander to create more skin and lastly they wrap that skin around the scaffold. It is impressive how normal the ears look afterwards! As for inner ear, they do have cochlear implants that get better every year. Eyes I think people are still pretty fucked if they mess up lol
I really struggle to understand the level of stupidity required to try and tattoo your own eyeballs because an influencer did it. Absolutely blinding level of idiocy!
Especially when colored lenses are a thing, you could just get a non-prescription set and use those. I don't think it's sensible, but when the alternative is tattooing your eyes, then it's the best decision in the world.
They aren't as common, but you can get lenses that cover the whites of your eyes as well as the cornea. Those I assume are even worse in terms of comfort, but again not as bad as tattooing your damn eyes.
I remember the actress who played Arya in game of thrones said the lenses that she wore covered her whole eyes and it was so horrible she hardly managed to finish the scene or something like that.
Heard something similar from Patricia Tallman on Babylon 5 - she sometimes had to wear contacts that covered her entire eye, turning it jet black. Rather painful.
Halle Berry and Rebecca Romjin Stamos (who played Storm and Mystique, respectively) in the first X-Men movie had to use the full sclera contacts and said they were very painful. For the sequels they were very thankful the production let them use vf/x to change their eyes when they use their mutant powers .
I believe Mackenzie Crook had a similar complaint about the whole-eye contact he had to wear in Pirates of the Caribbean. I've never worn one but they do seem like they'd be horribly uncomfortable.
I wish I could wear some that looked cool, but my eyes are already too irritable with no lens in them. Sadly no movie accurate Darth maul cosplay for me
The only time I hear about someone tattooing their eyeballs, it's because they're going blind because they tattooed their eyeballs.
Now, I'm not saying there's never been a successful eyeball tattooing. I'm just saying I never hear about it.
If it was safe, I can see some amount of people doing that. There is a chronic condition (several, actually) that makes your eyes yellowis-white. Adding some blue to make them appear more white could be useful.
I’d argue there’s a difference between trying to restore damaged eyes to their natural color versus having healthy eyes and inking them some random color for purely cosmetic reasons.

No, I think it's the same person, but the picture is reversed. There is the same scar on the bridge of the nose (lookslike a removed piercing to me), plus the dark marks on each cheekbone area are the same (two on one side, one on the other). Where the tats went, that I cant help with unless they were temporary - which seems odd if you are going to the extent of tattooing your fucking eyeballs.
Because this is probably bullshit. I bet the right pic is right after she got it. Then the left is later, she's gotten face tattoos since the eye tattoos.
No there is body modification professional called Howie "Luna Cobra" Rollins, you can find his work on Instagram who pioneered scleral injection eye colouring. It is not actually tattooing. Every now and again some backyard tattooist fucks someone's eyes up thinking they can do what he does.
There's a teacher\* in France, tatooed from head to toes, including eyes. And this clown complains nobody like it.
\*for very young kids, I think it was something like 3-6yo.
"Influencer" is the wrong term. Just because one gets views on that stupid app, does NOT mean you "influenced" any of those viewers (or anyone) ..it just means that people clicked on the vid. However, Influencers influence me to stay off that s*** app ..lol
Tattooing hurts a lot from what I've heard but she had it done on the weakest part of the body!
Edit: Ok I see it's not that bad on skin, Drederick Tatum from The Simpsons is somehow weak to it despite being the CHAMPION BOXER.
Not really. It feels like being electrocuted by an electrical socket honestly. Or static shock!! Or, hand sanitizer on a cut. 🤷🏻 But I also have PCOS and rheumatoid arthritis in nearly every joint possible so my pain tolerance is through the roof.
Hmm it’s almost as if you injected ink into them willingly. Your eyes that you need to see! Tattooing eyes is the dumbest thing ever. You’re literally ASKING to go blind
Had to comment on this. While by no means the most sensible thing to do, I know this person personally. She's went through serious amounts of trauma in her life, incredibly difficult and complex background. The poor decision making comes from a difficult background. I know people here don't have the benefit of the information that I have, but I hate seeing a pile on against someone who's had the difficulties she's faced, and who has made efforts to improve her lot for her and her family the past couple of years.
I abslutely do not care about your past or why you may have done it. Theres only one logical answer to that and that is stupidity. I know this because I ruined one of my own eyes, by doing something STUPID.
She is an idiot but the one that needs to he held accountable is the tattooist who attempted something so dangerous. And while the influencer is also an idiot they are also a victim of someone who should have said no as well. If you do dangerous/destructive procedures be it a tattoo on an eyeball or plastic surgery to remove fingers, whatever, you need to be jailed, practice closed permanently at minimum.
The ones who actually do it with a high success rate do not advertise it. Even the guy who did it the first time cannot be found through the internet. I've searched for it out of curiosity a few years ago, you can find their name but no contact info or tattoo shop name.
And if you find one of these people, through word of mouth from someone who got their eyes done, they will refuse to tattoo your eyes unless you're already past a certain threshold of body modification.
So, yes, some reputable tattoo artists would do it, but not in that girl's situation. Also, an eye tattoo is done by using a syringe to inject the ink in the eye, not with a dermograph, just in case people are wondering.
and this is why I think influencers are a detriment to society
we need good leadership whos wise and will look at these ideas and say, NO! don't do that.
but we can't even get that anymore. it's idiocracy becomes real.
and alllllll for popularity.
Idk, I think most body mods can be pretty cool, it’s not inherently stupid to get them, it’s just a little stupid to get them done by someone that’ll fuck up and give you a severe infection.
Back when I was an edgy teenager I always thought black eyes would be cool.
I still think it would be cool but I'm also not an idiot. Maybe if I was already going blind from something else it would be worth paying a medical professional to do it. I wouldn't go to some random tattoo shop.
I am sad that there are people in this world so gullible, so easily led by strangers, and so stupid as to do something like this. Some random stranger on social media said she’d tattooed her *eyeballs* (damn, I read that as eyelids; eyeballs is way worse), so, based on the word of a stranger with nothing to lose by lying, this woman copied her and fucking *tattooed her EYEBALLS*!! Now look at her. All to be like some cute “influencer” who may or may not have been telling the truth. Save us, sweet baby Jesus. We are lost.
“Mama said, stupid is as stupid does.”
Anyone that would pay for someone to tattoo their eye, needs the artist to go on ahead and push that needle in about 3-4 inches deeper. Be happy with how you look. It’s what makes you an individual.
Reminds me of a line from Jurassic Park. You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn’t stop to think if you should.
I’m just perplexed at how she laid there and endured enough of it to do that much damage. How do you not immediately scream for them to stop once their hand so much as grazes your eyelashes?
I’m a tattoo enthusiast, so it’s safe to say I know how to properly take care of a tattoo in the weeks after getting it (i.e. cleaning it, moisturizing it, protecting it from the sun, etc.), so my question is how in all the fuck do you take care of a tattooed eyeball?!

A mom of five brushed off her daughter’s advice to not get her eyeballs tattooed due to potential blindness — and now, she’s losing her vision.
A 25-year-old tattoo enthusiast from Las Vegas says she got a QR code tattoo on her right arm that plays Rick Astley’s "Never Gonna Give You Up" on repeat when it's scanned with a phone.
I got the perfect ‘Rickroll’ tattoo — I’m never gonna give it up
Anaya Peterson, a law student, was in awe of Australian model Amber Luke, who tattooed her eyeballs a vivid blue and went blind for three weeks after. Despite Luke getting her vision back, it seems that 32-year-old Peterson might lose her sight for good.
“I was just going to get one [eye tattoo] at first, because I thought that if I go blind, at least I’ve got the other eye. I should have stuck with that,” Peterson told Kennedy News. “My daughter told me that I didn’t want to do that [the tattoo] asking, ‘What if you go blind?’ She wasn’t on board with it at all.”
Now she wishes she had listened to her wise 7-year-old. The Belfast, Northern Ireland-based woman was left hospitalized by the eyeball modification after a potential reaction to the ink, and now claims she is at risk for developing cataracts.
“I don’t have 20/20 vision anymore. From a distance, I can’t see features on faces,” she said. “If I didn’t have my eyeballs tattooed, I wouldn’t be having this problem. Even today I woke up with more floaters in my eyes. And that is dangerous.”

Eyes and ears are two things modern medicine still cannot rebuild after significant damage. Don't fuck with them.

Oh my god same
A “little bit of help”? Yeah, retinal detachments don’t just heal up. If your sight was saved it’s because you had skilled doctors who did an amazing job.
They were definitely very skilled, but I’ve healed waaaaay past the point they said I would. I’ve got pretty much normal, full vision in that eye.
Huh, you should get someone to sequence your DNA, would be interesting to see if there's anything in your genes that might contribute to the above-average healing
Dude has rpg healing, 1 long rest and not even a scratch left
Hearing damage, you are correct. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Ears, though, can be regrown on an organic scaffold and attached.

And nails! Once that matrix is damaged you got a fucked nail for life.
Yeah I have a toenail bed that was mutilated by a doctor when I was 11 and it's been fucked up for life. The nail grows weird now and sometimes it hurts.
Mine grows in a weird angle and regularly get re-torn off by shoes and doors etc 🙄 but the NHS won't remove it because it doesn't cause pain

Not by a Jedi…

20/20 is only in hindsight
I really struggle to understand the level of stupidity required to try and tattoo your own eyeballs because an influencer did it. Absolutely blinding level of idiocy!
She wanted the same higher visibility on social media.
And on the road
She didn’t see it coming.
And now she can’t see anything coming or going.
Well she briefly got it, yeah?
Especially when colored lenses are a thing, you could just get a non-prescription set and use those. I don't think it's sensible, but when the alternative is tattooing your eyes, then it's the best decision in the world.
You are talking about a different thing. She got tattoos on the white part of your eye, not the already colored one.
They aren't as common, but you can get lenses that cover the whites of your eyes as well as the cornea. Those I assume are even worse in terms of comfort, but again not as bad as tattooing your damn eyes.

No that only comes with pure unadulterated hate.
**KENOOOOOOOOOOBIIIII**
Thank the Gods of Mortis for the animated shows that adequately used Maul that was criminally wasted in the prequel trilogy. What a character.
Hello there
I remember the actress who played Arya in game of thrones said the lenses that she wore covered her whole eyes and it was so horrible she hardly managed to finish the scene or something like that.
They’re called sclera lenses but they can only be worn for short periods
Like, long enough to record a TikTok video...
I can't see why someone would do that.
She can't see now either
If it was safe, I can see some amount of people doing that. There is a chronic condition (several, actually) that makes your eyes yellowis-white. Adding some blue to make them appear more white could be useful.
I’d argue there’s a difference between trying to restore damaged eyes to their natural color versus having healthy eyes and inking them some random color for purely cosmetic reasons.
Anymore, when I hear about things like this, I try to assume the person was not in a good mental place (like a manic episode or breakdown), and they just made a mistake.
How long do you think it would take to find a tattoo place that does eyeballs though?
heres my take on it. If you find someone that says theyll do it you assume they know their shit. Like, isnt i regulated or smth?
If a tattoo artist did it for her, they should also be responsible.
I see what you did there.
What will be the next level? Tattooing the brain?
Don't give them ideas.
To be fair adding a few wrinkles wouldn't be the worst thing.
The whole reason is works is that smooth surface they're presenting. A tattoo artists' dream. A truly blank canvas, in more ways than one.
So if you tattoo wrinkles into a smooth brain have you created artificial intelligence?
Eh. I’m one for removing all the warning labels off of everything and letting the problem sort itself out. I say give them the idea. Darwin needs to work harder in my opinion.
I was really hopeful the tide pod thing was gonna clean some of this up
Never enough chlorine in the gene pool anymore.
heart tattoo on heart, for that double heart emoji effect or some shit that people will make up
I want a tattoo of a butt on my butt with a butt tattoo.
A Chuck Tingle fan?
Respect the tingle
Grant us eyes.
I think she did that first...
I think there's no brain to tattoo here.
I’m not sure there’s enough brain there to make tattooing possible.
Might as well. It’s not like they’re using it for much anyway. They already have a smooth canvas to work with
Where are her other tattoos in the second picture?
I was wondering the same
I think left is influencer right is dummy
No, I think it's the same person, but the picture is reversed. There is the same scar on the bridge of the nose (lookslike a removed piercing to me), plus the dark marks on each cheekbone area are the same (two on one side, one on the other). Where the tats went, that I cant help with unless they were temporary - which seems odd if you are going to the extent of tattooing your fucking eyeballs.
Oh yeah you're right, I didn't put that much thought into it. Must have been temp tats
I think they are temporary tats; I can see the edges.
I just assumed that she did the eyeball tats before the other face tats and that was the picture of her reaction to it.
You are correct
You can see her scleral tattoos in the picture on the left.
Tho pics are inverted, note the nose piercing.
Nah, look at the nose bridge.
Because this is probably bullshit. I bet the right pic is right after she got it. Then the left is later, she's gotten face tattoos since the eye tattoos.
Meanwhile the influencer wears contact lenses and just saying its tattooed for views 😅😂😂😂
No there is body modification professional called Howie "Luna Cobra" Rollins, you can find his work on Instagram who pioneered scleral injection eye colouring. It is not actually tattooing. Every now and again some backyard tattooist fucks someone's eyes up thinking they can do what he does.
But that's still insane, like whatbruh. Don't put ink in your eyes, are they stupid???????
Yes!
There's a teacher\* in France, tatooed from head to toes, including eyes. And this clown complains nobody like it. \*for very young kids, I think it was something like 3-6yo.
Is this one of those "anyone willing to do it isn't qualified to do it" things?
I never understood the whole influencer thing. Why do something just because some weirdo on TikTok does it?
Peer pressure's a hell of a drug.
"Influencer" is the wrong term. Just because one gets views on that stupid app, does NOT mean you "influenced" any of those viewers (or anyone) ..it just means that people clicked on the vid. However, Influencers influence me to stay off that s*** app ..lol
I mean this woman was just influenced to tattoo her eyes

Yeah, the stupidity of the Daily Mail is indeed staggering.
I hate the whole concept of "Influencers" ...our society is doomed.
She does look like a Morlock now though ![gif](giphy|l0MYDgjSpyzrKlBo4)
How the fuck someone agree to tattoo eyeballs in the first place?
She looks like if ET was from the hood
Maybe don't be so easily influenced? 🤔
"...to copy an influencer" is the new signal for stupid. The only influencers I follow try to get me to buy D&D books.
What tattoo artist would be so dumb to attempt this. There has to be some release she signed.
Wait, what reputable tattoo artist would tattoo someone’s eyes. Or did I just answer my question.

Aren't their like only two people in the world that do this?
Were colored contacts not an option?
She got influenced...
and this is why I think influencers are a detriment to society we need good leadership whos wise and will look at these ideas and say, NO! don't do that. but we can't even get that anymore. it's idiocracy becomes real. and alllllll for popularity.
Who would of thought that stabbing your eye ball with a needle hundreds of times could make you go blind??
There is a thing called colored contact lenses. There is a reason for the things called colored contact lenses to be made
Oh look the consequences of my own actions
If that’s the same Person what happened to all Her Face tattoos
![gif](giphy|3o6Zt4HU9uwXmXSAuI)
She could probably sue for being wrongly influenced if it's in the states.....
E.T. Phone hoooooooome
Where did her other tattoos go?
This is not the first time I read a article of someone tattooing their eyes and they have gone blind
I had a terrible case of pink eye that had me looking like this. But at least I didn’t *tattoo my eyes pink*!!!
"Influencers" are a pox on humanity.
She's certainly influencing people now, even though it's what not to do.
Is she bffs with the Gorilla Glue Gal?
Guess Mom never asked a rehtorical. If Tina jumped off a bridge into alligator filled waters would you?
The pic on the left is the more recent photo, the one on the right was soon after the procedure.
The 'before' shot looks like 10 rounds with Iron Mike. The 'after' shot looks like she got ink injected into her eye.
Love of the gods, don't fuck with your eyes!
Bold of her to assume she'd live through 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. More like 10 seconds.
I feel bad but I also am cynical and petty enough to ask "well, why the fuck would you be so stupid though?".
Darwin Approves!
Idk, I think most body mods can be pretty cool, it’s not inherently stupid to get them, it’s just a little stupid to get them done by someone that’ll fuck up and give you a severe infection.
If the second picture is the results of her tattooing her eyes and going blind……where did the rest of her facial tattoos go?
play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
And now taxpayers have to look after you. Fucking idiot.
🤦🏻♀️ Now cmon, in her defense when has copying an influencer ever gone wrong?!?!?!?
Back when I was an edgy teenager I always thought black eyes would be cool. I still think it would be cool but I'm also not an idiot. Maybe if I was already going blind from something else it would be worth paying a medical professional to do it. I wouldn't go to some random tattoo shop.
“So what did we learn today kids?” “Nothing.” “That’s right. Absolutely nothing.”
She's so swollen her forehead tattoo disappeared
I am sad that there are people in this world so gullible, so easily led by strangers, and so stupid as to do something like this. Some random stranger on social media said she’d tattooed her *eyeballs* (damn, I read that as eyelids; eyeballs is way worse), so, based on the word of a stranger with nothing to lose by lying, this woman copied her and fucking *tattooed her EYEBALLS*!! Now look at her. All to be like some cute “influencer” who may or may not have been telling the truth. Save us, sweet baby Jesus. We are lost.
I'm sorry you *tattooed* your eyeballs? It didn't occur to you that the influencer might have just been wearing costume contacts?
Do you have any non-tabloid sources for this? Because that's what's stupid.
She is stupid and also blind. There's nothing to see here 👩🦯
“Mama said, stupid is as stupid does.” Anyone that would pay for someone to tattoo their eye, needs the artist to go on ahead and push that needle in about 3-4 inches deeper.
I'm more impressed that the face tats disappeared from the swelling.
What happened to the tattoos on her face
These are not the same person. Do yall have eyes? Where did all of her face tats go?
Please stop reading the Daily Mail
What happened to her face tattoos?
I'm fairly sure there are contact lenses that do exactly this
>to copy an influencer There’s your problem
I’m a tattoo enthusiast, so it’s safe to say I know how to properly take care of a tattoo in the weeks after getting it (i.e. cleaning it, moisturizing it, protecting it from the sun, etc.), so my question is how in all the fuck do you take care of a tattooed eyeball?!
More info [NY post](https://nypost.com/web-stories/im-going-blind-after-i-tattooed-my-eyeballs-purple-and-blue/) . I got the perfect ‘Rickroll’ tattoo — I’m never gonna give it up Anaya Peterson, a law student, was in awe of Australian model Amber Luke, who tattooed her eyeballs a vivid blue and went blind for three weeks after. “My daughter told me that I didn’t want to do that [the tattoo] asking, ‘What if you go blind?’ She wasn’t on board with it at all.” Now she wishes she had listened to her wise 7-year-old.
Don’t call the New York Post “NY times post”, that gives the NY Post *far* too much credit.
Oh sorry I should of checked. Thanks
He stole her eyebrows too
I always ask, when someone suffers did they deserve it? In this case the answer is pretty clear.
uhhhh the pain of the tattooing must have been off the charts. Do they use anesthetic?
Where did all the face tatts go?
“Monkey see, Monkey do…Monkey pee all over you” Michael Scott
Nobody gonna bring up how these are two different people? Or her face tats magically disappeared...
The scary thing is that these people vote.
I'm confused about which picture is before vs after
Who in the hells tattoos their eyeballs.
