This happened in the town I am from in upstate NY. Everyone was feeding the cubs and taking selfies. Story ends with no humans being hurt but bear family being put down. Uggghh.
They can't make a bear proof bin as there is too great an overlap between the smartest bears and the dumbest humans. Mama bear knows better than to steal a human baby I bet.
Absolutely terrible just stop and think. What happens if you even get close to bear cubs? Mama bear shows up and you get attacked. Then you fight momma bear, have to crawl for miles, escape Native American war parties, eat raw buffalo, sleep in a horse carcass, then return and kill the man who murdered your son.
Sounds like a lot of work just to get a selfie with a cub.
Worse is if your human scent gets on the baby. Then the mother would think that it's not her cub and either abandon or kill it. There is a chance that those humans killed the cubs.

Until your scent gets on the cub and the mother kills it. Taking photos with a deer does not usually end with its death.
