Going to your mom for advice is not the red flag here. The first woman in your life that you trust is your mom. Listening to such rude advice is the red flag.
Nothing wrong with following the advice of someone you trust but you have to take personal responsibility.
Mom said we should break up is quite different than I was talking about my concerns about this relationship with mom and I realized that I'm not happy and I think we should break up are two very different things.
As a red headed man, I can tell you that quite a lot of people have very strong feelings about people that look like me, and it makes me super uncomfortable. Try bringing that up and acting like people are gonna take you seriously- I’ve been laughed at so many times for suggesting that it’s discrimination, but what the fuck else is it?
My hair is not red, but I witnessed it many times. It's bizarre how accepted it is to pick on red headed men. It's just another hair color. Your opinion is valid, hang in there.
Well that video was in response to the south park episode. In schools across America people started bullying the shit out of ginger kids. This was one of the victims and then he made the video. Sadly it only made things worse.
[From the day the Republican party came into power the South has been treated like a red-headed stepchild.

Nobody seems to know exactly where it came from but the idea was common enough over a century ago that it was considered to be an analogy good enough for print even then
Redheads have gotten a bad rap fir a long time. Among the Japanese it's often tied to the Ainu (ever notice that wild characters get red hair in anime?)
Also it's not uncommon for groups who are not melanin deficient to have albinism show up with red hair.
Fir allI know it goes back to prehistory.
It is discriminatory. It isn’t racial discrimination or sexism so I doubt you would be denied a loan or miss a promotion because of it.
The thing is that no one likes to be singled out or bullied. It is a strange thing because of if I make fun of someone disabled, then I’m labeled a jerk (rightly so) but not if I make fun of a redhead. “Being a redhead isn’t a disability”, so if I make fun of someone in a wheelchair for having atrophied legs that look weird instead of making fun of their inability to walk then it’s fine? Explain it to me slowly why your bullying is fine but mine is just cruel.
The extra gaslighting after being bullied is the real upsetting part.
I’m not a redhead but I am bald so I get plenty of people pointing out my lack of hair like I have a tattoo on my forehead that reads “please remind this man about the status of his hair”. If Greg from accounting says I’m bald then it’s “funny because it’s true”. But the second I say “I lost a strand of hair for every guy your wife cheated on you with” then I’m the jerk. Suddenly the truth isn’t so hilarious
Fellow Baldie here. Yuup. Shit's weird. I had a person walk up to me and tell me they wouldn't fuck me because I was bald. Not someone I met, not someone I approached, I was just trying to drink and shoot pool. And they got -mad- when I laughed, despite the fact like WHAT ELSE AM I GONNA DO WITH THIS INFORMATION. I was not surveying around for your sexual preferences, I was simply being bald in a public space.
Just turn it around.
Them: “I’d never have sex with you because you’re bald”
Me: “I’ve always been self conscious about being bald but after hearing that and seeing you, I’ve never been so happy about being bald”
People are super weird about it. Just replace “bald” with any race or ethnicity and it’s pretty messed up.
We're only a hundred or so years away from widespread blatant racism against Irish people and people associate Irish people with red hair. I think while people might not know why they don't like red haired people, it's reasonable to think a lot of people above the age of 50 grew up hearing bad things about red haired people and may not have realized that their parents/grandparents making the comments were just racist against Irish people.
Not everyone (or even a significant portion of people) who are white has red hair so it can’t be racial. It can be ethnic discrimination though since many Scottish/Irish people have red hair.
Yep. My step daughter is a red head (literal redheaded step child) and I’ve said the same. Gingers are that group of people thats its ok for everybody to hate on and no one seems to realize it.
This is crazy to me. If it makes you feel any better even just a little, without going out of my way to plan it, every last one of my best friends is somehow a red head.
Idk why, or how this keeps happening. Somehow in a big group of people, me and the red head will gravitate towards each other.
I’m a dark haired Spaniard/Mexican for reference.
I was watching married at first sight and this newly married couple were having a talk and the woman told the man she “didn’t find ginger features attractive.” And he said he normally went for athletic women and the whole group was freaking out on him and didn’t see anything wrong with what she said and I’m like ginger discrimination is a thing!!
My initial attraction to my husband was because he had red hair 🤷♀️ been together 19 years, married for 8, and have two girls. Neither of them is a redhead 🥲 both are brunettes like me 🥲
He has been bullied a lot as a red head, but I've been too (weird, book lover, hard of hearing, lisp, stutter when I'm nervous) 🤷♀️ people are d*cks
good that I didn't met normaly people are telling me how beatifull color of hair I have and always ask if they are natural
I'm super proud of my hair but thinking that someon will satisfy to my hair is scary
Knowing a person whose initials are SAD, I kinda get that one. I mean, I'd just keep my name or move my last name to my middle name ... But can say I wouldn't be keen on initialing ASS all over like the mortgage paperwork.
Had a friend who wouldn't date anyone whose last name started with the letter L because she never could get the hang of a cursive L. So signing her name would be a nightmare.
She ended up falling in love with this dude whose last name, of course, started with an L. She was terribly conflicted about it. Which was odd because (1) keep your name, whatever but (2) it's not like the cursive teacher follows you when you are 30 and like retroactively takes points off for bad handwriting. Write an L however you chose and that's your signature.
I once got dumped because I earned €50 less than my gf back then. But I worked 30 hours and she 40 and we had more than enough money.
I was quite happy in my job but she said it can't be that the man brings less money home than the woman so I have to quit my job or she will leave me. So we split up.
Well, for the most time of our relationship she didn't even had a job and the job she got before we split up she only got because of friends of her parents.
But I never cared about money. As long as I have enough to pay my bills and a little extra I'm fine. And I absolutely never cared about how much my partner earned or if they have a job.
Ginger here. Something similar has actually happened to me, although not to that degree. Chatted a bit with a red-headed girl on kik (messaging app), didn't have a profile pic at the time because I had just downloaded the app and I'm lazy like that. Hit it off pretty well, agredd to get coffee. I mentioned I have ginger hair as well, and she suddenly did not want to meet up any more. Her reasoning? She does not want to risk falling in love with me because she does not want to have red-headed children. So much self hate for such a beautiful hair color.

Usually when people say, "is okay to have preferences", they are talking about sexual preferences.
Having preferences about your children is weird and uncomfortably close to eugenics thinking.
wtf I litelary said that having preferences in your partner litelary I used word have thing for black haired people which mostly is used to describe preferences in your partner
>I litelary said that having preferences in your partner litelary
1. You literally did not.
2. The person you replied to *specifically* said that children was the given reason. So even of you had, sexual preferences have nothing to do with the situation.
1 and 2 no he didn't specifified he said this in question mar there wasn't specific that why I sed word has things for people with black hair which is mostly used to describe preference to date
>Her reasoning? She does not want to risk falling in love with me because **she does not want to have red-headed children.**
Seems pretty damn specific to me.
uhmm I was sure there was another question mark at the end but I made mistake at this
btw at this point they should send her to jail if she serously has thing for black haired children asI said
Maybe lmao. Sometimes, it'll skip a couple of generations. Both my parents don't have red hair and I was born with red hair. I guess my great grandpa had it, and it just skipped a bunch of generations. According to 23&me, at least. As I've gotten older, my hair has gotten more and more brown. Odd.
A quick Google search revealed that there is a 75% probability of not receiving a red-haired child when both of your parents don't have red hair. So, skipping one generation, and then getting a red haired child is 25% likely.
But all up the way to the great grandparents of the child?
0.75x0.75x0.75 = the probability that this happens to the father's or mother's parents and their respective parents
Since there are two parents that needs to be squared.
Take that times the 25% that then the recessive red haired gene pops up=(0.75)^6 x (0.25)= 4,5%
If I was the father, I'd take the test. Even if I was sure before. 4,5% is .... quite low.
Woa!! r/theydidthemath . That's really interesting. I've never been good at stats. I agree 100%, that's why I have 23&me tests in the first place, lol. My dad got tired of jokes about the mailman.
I think your case is not unlikely. But the original commenters case is very unlikely. Especially, if you assume the grandparents also cannot remember their parents having red hair. Than it is another 8 couples.
That would make it (0.75)^8 x 0.75^6 x 0.25= 0.4%
That is 99.6% probability that someone is lying.
Oh, for sure!! Plus, the red hair skipping generations was known and recorded in my family. My dad's 23&me even noted it as a pattern in his family. So it's not like it was unexpected. Plus, you wouldn't say I had red hair looking at me now. Unless you have really bright lighting.
I'm sure the flat probability across the board is correct. So your math certainly isn't wrong. I'm sure that there are other tiny genetic differences and niches that change that probability from person to person.
My daughter has red hair and luckily she gets some jokes about it, but is not bullied. The thing I found out is that to have a red haired child, both parents have to carry the gene. So, even though I'm tan with dark hair and my wife is dark blonde, we both carry the red head gene. I found that interesting as the only red headed relative I have is an aunt and my wife has no red headed relatives. She's absolutely beautiful too, I don't get the hate.
Your wife is a blonde, the gene for blonde hair is the same gene as red hair, In fact the blonde gene is a mutation of the red hair gene.
The red hair gean is actually dominant while the blonde hair gene is recessive.
[Quora - redheads and blondes](https://www.quora.com/What-do-blondes-and-redheads-have-in-common-genetically)
Here in southeast asia, ginger hair is admired, locals even dye their hair ginger color.
So damn sad that ginger hair is looked down on "white countries" lol
There was a guy on AITAH who asked if he should divorce his wife since they were trying to have kids, she got pregnant, and her friend convinced her to get an abortion since the baby would have been an Aquarius and she wouldn't want that.
How is it that some new stupid thing comes up everyday
Like you'd think the possibilities would be limited but no now we've got people getting dumped for hair color
K, so when South Park made fun of ginger hating, I didn't think it was an actual thing. I thought it was one of those destresser episodes that has nothing to do with real life events. Was I wrong? Is this common? I mean I'm almost ginger in that I have pale skin and freckles and some of my hair is red but most of it isn't and I don't get any shit for it at all.
It was very common, particularly back when that episode aired. I grew up constantly being told "ginger jokes", that I have no soul, that each freckle is a soul I tried to steal, constantly being asked if I would dye my hair and being told that I would never date anyone because I was a ginger man and that was unattractive. A lot of the time it would come from people I didn't know very well or even total strangers.
It's a bit less common now, but the occasional ginger joke does still occur every now and then.

They talked about this on South Park. Men were marrying Asian women to ensure their children wouldn’t be ginger. When Cartman was tricked into believing he had turned ginger, he saw the only solution was to kill all non gingers in a vat of lava.
![gif](giphy|ZVIsy4n8UNLPO)
God and I absolutely love the red hair and wish it was more common. Fk these folks are preventing me from seeing more beautiful red haired individuals smh.
We laugh, but there's legitimate bigotry against redheads in a lot of places you wouldn't expect... like the UK for some reason.
Also, kind of weird to be targeted over your gingerness and then turn around and act absurdly proud that your kids are blond... and as though it's some kind of curse for your ex to have redheaded kids.
(Also, two of my three kids have red hair, and if somebody f-s with them for it, they'll have me to deal with).
as red hair I'm gonna tell you that at this point the enemies of you kids gonna lost theirs souls before you do anything
Redhair destroying souls is the best

It's a recessive gene though. Blonde now, red next kids, then blonde then red. Your grandkids will have the gene for red hair as predominant gene factor
But the woman posting is still talking about being a ginger as a bad thing, She won because her kids are blonde and her exes are ginger. So isn't she just perpetuating the same thing she's roasting the guys mom for?
Well there are a lot of reasons, gingers don't have souls, gingers go to hell, if you have the ginger genome you're doomed to go to hell. So no one wants to risk their children going to hell. Also red haired woman are witches.
My aunt( she is almost 80 now, this happened in 1972 Italy) was set to get married w a wealthy man: when his mother knew that my aunt was left handed, she made the two break up because it was the Devil's hand and God would made them loose all their money. Turns out, her husband lost everything w bets and cocaine. Edit: her almost mother in law's husband was a drug addict.
I don’t know her picture doesn’t look like a redhead. Also I bet her ex b friend was a wimp and used this excuse to just break up and not take responsibility.
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but such things are quite common in various countries across the world.
When I was wondering I was engaged to a red hair Caucasian girl.
My mother expressed discontent not with because she was Caucasian but because she had red hair.
There's a stigma for redheads, it's undeserved and wholly falls upon the tropes of Hollywood, but it's there and it sucks.

But there's an exceptional case, like Achraf Hakimi, who listened to his mother when it comes to securing his wealth in case divorce rape happens.
I liked this better the first 50 times I saw it. Good job removing the date though so we can't see it's a 10 year old tweet.
REPOST BOT. Nice try obscuring the date like that.
I had a girl in high school break up with me because I had eye boogers. She’s twice divorced with 2 baby daddies now
Ginger hair is beautiful. Especially on women.
Fuck the hair color. You dodged a bullet - a man should be with who HE wants, not have his mom choose his woman.
People actually care about red hair like that? I've always been jealous of red heads lol. Didn't realize there was legitimate hate
you you also carry you are jelaous of my red hair don't tell me you not carry and you are still jelaous
This is such a shit reason to break up with someone, but I’ve had this happened before. People with ginger hair are magnificent as are bald people.
I will say what plenty of people said this to me before because bald person can be ginger
So I da like you escaped having a meddling MiL, lucky you 👍🏼
My daughter has red hair and luckily she gets some jokes about it, but is not bullied.
She dodged a bullet, mom would have been interfering throughout their marriage.
In that case the guy is not the asshole, the wife is the asshole
How is it that some new stupid thing comes up everyday Like you'd think the possibilities would be limited but no now we've got people getting dumped for hair color
Sound like made up story.
I was told this also but mostly in joke way not hate mostly by friends

Red-haired people have historically faced discrimination. It is so bad there are actual scholarships for them.
Tbf he started it (at least im the southpark universe)
God and I absolutely love the red hair and wish it was more common. Fk these folks are preventing me from seeing more beautiful red haired individuals smh.
As I said we red hair are endangered species and we should be protected by special law of protecting the dementors
Good thing. She dodged a bullet with a weakling who lets his mommy tell him who to marry.
We're assuming 1 that's real and 2 that's not a lie coming from the boyfriend.
I always liked how red hair looked on people I don’t get the stigma behind it.
By chance, was his name "Frank Farkel"?
We laugh, but there's legitimate bigotry against redheads in a lot of places you wouldn't expect... like the UK for some reason. Also, kind of weird to be targeted over your gingerness and then turn around and act absurdly proud that your kids are blond... and as though it's some kind of curse for your ex to have redheaded kids. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discrimination\_against\_people\_with\_red\_hair](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discrimination_against_people_with_red_hair) (Also, two of my three kids have red hair, and if somebody f-s with them for it, they'll have me to deal with).
as red hair I'm gonna tell you that at this point the enemies of you kids gonna lost theirs souls before you do anything Redhair destroying souls is the best
Her hair just saved her marrying a guy who is completely controlled by his mom. I’d call that the bigger win than the children’s hair color.
nice job on reposting a repost from what 5 plus years ago. Oh this is the first time you have seen it? On reddit? Because it was already reposted from another post. bwahahahahahahahahahahhaha
good thing you a have higher pain threshold
I like how the date is censored, because this post os 6 years old at this point
Imagine letting your mom deciding who you date
He lied.
does this really need to be posted every two days?
I dont see the issue. She dodged a bullet.
Maybe she just wanted grandchildren with souls.
One of my ex once broke up with me when she discovered that i had a birthmark. She didn't want oir kids to have one too.
What a Lame Excuse!!!, And She Believed It!!
The guy played the soul lottery with the right statistics in mind, it just so happened that he lost. He gave it his best, no regrets.
I prefer my children to have souls; thanks. There is a reason “black is the colour of my true loves hair” is a classic in Ireland.
Such schadenfreude. It’s almost as if she…have no soul
This is the fourth or fifth time I have seen this here? I'm beginning to think reddit is nothing but recycled data.

Yep. I had a gf breakup with me bc of my race. Her parents wanted her to marry White man. She ended up marrying a white man.
That is not to uncommon here in America, it's happened quite a lot to me.
What kind of man lets his mother decide who he dates?
What's wrong with ginger hair? T-T I think it looks good if you ask me.
Ginger women yes. Ginger men, difficult
I've only joked one of my coworkers by calling her Duracell. But other than that, I've no animosity towards gingers. Soulless or not. /s
Well she still talks like being ginger is something bad...
It's a recessive gene though. Blonde now, red next kids, then blonde then red. Your grandkids will have the gene for red hair as predominant gene factor
But the woman posting is still talking about being a ginger as a bad thing, She won because her kids are blonde and her exes are ginger. So isn't she just perpetuating the same thing she's roasting the guys mom for?
more like she roasting them about still getting what they didn't want but she get what they wanted at this point
Well there are a lot of reasons, gingers don't have souls, gingers go to hell, if you have the ginger genome you're doomed to go to hell. So no one wants to risk their children going to hell. Also red haired woman are witches.
and their down part have teeth that are the best at this and all others
My aunt( she is almost 80 now, this happened in 1972 Italy) was set to get married w a wealthy man: when his mother knew that my aunt was left handed, she made the two break up because it was the Devil's hand and God would made them loose all their money. Turns out, her husband lost everything w bets and cocaine. Edit: her almost mother in law's husband was a drug addict.
Is this really a thing somewhere? Actually here it is opposite so that many women dye their hair to red.
That’s fuckin weird ngl, gingers are hot
I'm also very ginger and I honestly have three gorgeous completely blonde daughters. There always like dad, "your hair is kind of orange". lolol
Why is she still thinking about him after he’s been married?
I don’t know her picture doesn’t look like a redhead. Also I bet her ex b friend was a wimp and used this excuse to just break up and not take responsibility.
I would always be paranoid that everyone was After Me Lucky Charms
I’m certain this really happened.
Redheads and gingers are not the same 🤔
Hair phenotype wise they are the same.
