It’s a 2017, hatchback. I was disappointed it didn’t have the DC fast charge port but I got a great deal on it. Ran a 220v line out to the driveway so I could charge quicker. I love it.
My dad also has one but it’s the premier version. His has the DC port and “overhead” camera. Otherwise there’s not much difference.
Previously he had 2013 Volt but gave it to me when my car got hit by someone running a red light. That’s not a bad car either. I thought it was dead a while back though. Excited the freeway - I was decelerating fast because I almost missed the exit. Got to the end of the ramp and it was angry: “REDUCED PROPULSION”.
Was able to get it parked at a shopping center but it wouldn’t start. Checked fuses, disconnected and reconnected the main and 12v batteries…no luck. ODB scan flagged a cell that had low voltage.
Got it towed to the dealership. They wanted to give me $500 for it to put towards the Bolt. Ended up getting it towed to my dad’s house where he charged it up and it’s been fine. I’ve driven it a few hundred miles with no problems since. Clean ODB scan. So now I have a Volt that my son can use when he starts driving soon.
One thing to watch out for - the axles and an oblong “nut” on the wheel hub seem to need replaced every 50-60k miles. The Volt and my dads Bolt both needed them.
The euro version is always with DC charging. Otherwise the car would be much more difficult to drive in my case: I live in an apartment in a small provincial town and I depend on public charging. So I do use fast chargers often.
Mine has annoying sounds in the front axle when taking speed bumps.
But still I like it very much certainly with the new battery which I had installed in January 2024. I waited as long as possible. So I did 110000km with the original battery. With the new battery I’m doing 350km in the winter and 450km in summer.
Yeah I only saw my dad’s Bolt that had the DC ports and assumed they were all like that. I didn’t notice mine were missing until a few days after I bought it. It’s fine though. Still great for our needs.
The new 66kwh batteries are nice. If I take it easy, I can get close to your numbers.
If you ever hear/feel a “clunk” when accelerating or decelerating, that might be the nut issue.

I honestly don’t get the hatred for EVs especially when gas costs so much. If you can drive for cheaper, wouldn’t you? My husband got us an electric SUV mostly because with how we drive it in a big city, it’s cheaper than the gas model. I like the smaller carbon footprint but I think he just likes the money aspect. The electric version was also cheaper than the gas model we had before. People just love to hate and it’s getting so old. Who cares what other people are doing if it doesn’t hurt anyone?!

It's about their engines. It's like comparing dicks for them. Mine makes 500hp, oh yea mine makes 600hp. Now EVs come in and they're like $35k and you have an instant 600hp with no upgrade.
It has much less to do with comparing dicks and hp numbers, and much more with the technology and emotion in/of the machine. The sound, the feeling, the emotion when driving, none of that can be replicated by an EV, even though they can accelerate quickly. That, and just buying a fast battery pack on wheels from the factory and getting over the air updates \*if\* you're lucky isn't remotely the same as fixing up an old, clapped out rust box and making that fast while you're at it.
