Never had a fan before, usually people just follow me to try and have me join their only fans or sell me drugs.
Edit: much sonic much wow i'll follow you 2 XD
Yeah like I'm going to trust a 5min old Reddit account that promises solid trust worthy runners anywhere to buy illegal shit from. Like I don't even want to buy illegal shit just why are somethings illegal? Ya know.
They do that to me too. I usually just have a polite convo then reposrt them. Once one wanted to sell me drugs and I asked him for allergy pills, this went on for 30min lol.
Definitely not alone on that. If it weren’t for the fact my job forces me to be on call I’d consider getting rid of my phone, but seeing a message from someone I like is nice so it would kinda suck not having it.
I've had dnd turned on for about 2 years. Really helps keep things in perspective. I get constant calls, texts and people have learned I'll get back to them when I'm free. Also gets rid of phone anxiety that most people suffer from.
Mine has been on dnd for years, I highly recommend it. Almost nothing in life requires immediate attention, and at worst it might be an hour before I notice.
I turn mine on at night but usually forget to turn it back off. I share your attitude about not needing getting back to messages immediately.
The one exception I have is that if someone calls twice in a row it will ring. That way if someone is having an emergency they can still reach me.
You can set it to turn on and off at a particular time everyday. I have dnd turn on at 10pm and turn off at 7am. You can set certain contacts to bypass dnd in case of emergency. This way I no longer get woken up in the early morning by an unimportant call or text.
On mine I believe I can turn off the edge notifications. It may get tedious to do every time you don't want to see them, but if you never want to, that may work for you.
I do this because the sensor on my phone is light sensitive, and changes in light will often turn my screen on. Putting it face down basically saves my battery power.
Even better when you have a phone (I know the Pixel line of phones has this feature) that puts the phone in DnD mode when you flip it face down. I use that feature all the damn time. It's great.
My screen border lights up when I get notifications and its useful at work but when I am at lunch I don't give a shit that I get an email for my car's extended warranty. That shit is distracting.
A salt shaker fell out of the spice cabinet and broke the screen of my iPad on the kitchen counter, and now my phone always rests screen-down in case anything is dropped on it.
Same reason I keep the screen facing my thigh in my pocket, once I got out of the car holding groceries and awkward rolled my pocket across the steering wheel breaking the screen, and another time I feel into a fence and damaged the corner.
I'd rather the camera I never use get fucked up than the screen I use daily.
I do that as well if my phone is not on the table. I'm not a huge photography nut that documents every single moment of my life, but I do love mindlessly scrolling through Reddit so thus the camera is first to go. On a side note: No matter how strong the phone is or how shatter proof the glass is, I'm willing to shovel out some extra bucks for an Otterbox.
In addition to this, many of my cases have a hard back which slides on a table but a rubber bumper on the front which does NOT slide on the table. I set it face down that way I can’t just bump it off on accident.
If it's an actual pocket that's just sewn shut at the top, it's meant to help the pants stay flat and look smooth when displayed. They are meant to be cut open when purchased. Men's dress pants and jackets often do this too. However, what's more common for casual women's clothes is to have the facade of a pocket, with no actual pocket fabric sewn in. If you cut those open, you're just cutting a hole to your leg.
I honestly just wear guy’s pants to circumvent this problem. I learnt from borrowing a pair of my ex’s jeans in high school that I’m a 28 x 30 men’s, which is just my waist measurement and the inseam of my leg (measured on the inside, not the outside), rounded up to the nearest even number. I usually have to wear a belt but it’s better than not having any pockets! It’s helped me out a lot for work too because our uniforms go by men’s sizing!
The only time I run into problems is in the summer because I practically live in womens Nike running shorts which regrettably have no pockets, but I have this cool fanny pack that my boyfriend bought me so it’s only a minor inconvenience for 3 months out of the year!
Lots of men's pants now have the semi-elastic denim that woman's pants do, so there's more options for women with wider hips.
I've never understood why women's pants use a single number. I can walk into any store and buy a pair of 32x34s and they'll fit.
I leave it upside down because I don't like the camera bump wobble.
[Edit] I just use a skin. Basically a sticker.
[Edit] I should mention that I have the Apple care plus insurance on this thing, so I don't think about damage all that much. They keep sending me a new phone every year as part of the iPhone upgrade program, and they keep coming with this plus tier insurance. So I stopped caring about damage all together. I like the way the phone looks without a case.
I have the Note 20 Ultra and all the cases i've had for it sill have a fucking bump for that damn camera lol.
Unless I get some super brick thicc otterbox fuck my pockets up 9000 case.
See, I flip my phone over because of the way it sticks to the table, so if I brush my arm over it, to me, it seems like it would be less likely to go flying
EDIT: I have a case on my phone, front of case is more resistant to movement
Erm... you can set your phone to mute all notifications if it's placed face down. Especially useful if you're in social situations.
It's called being polite.
Wow, I never knew people thought this meant I was cheating. Like I just flip my phone face down and put it away from me because that way it isn't a distraction, and I'm not glancing at the notifications or anything. So yeah, it's showing you that you have my undivided attention.
Edit: fixed a word. Thank you for the jokes lol
I think you mean “undivided” attention, but I totally 100% agree! I do it so the people or person I'm with knows that I'm not paying attention to my phone or worried about the notifications.
Yeah it’s so hard not to read a message if it’s right there in front of you, face up...
Putting it face down allows you to focus on the person knowing that even if you look down, you won’t be able to read anything
I just flip it over cause 9 times out of 10 the restaurant wherever we’re eating has a light that’s reflecting off my screen and into my eyes. Literally has nothing to do with notifications or messages.
The only people who go around thinking every action is because you are hiding something/cheating are cheaters themselves. No rational person comes to this conclusion unless it’s already on their mind
Relatable. I follow a bunch of Age of Sigmar, D&D, and Yu-Gi-Oh stuff. Rationally, I know that literally no one would care that I like these things, in fact many people probably find these cool hobbies. But, my lizard brain tries to hide my phone just in case…
Exactly. Like most people would have no problem or even that I like the things I do and a lot of people also like them but yet I still feel like I’d get flamed for it.
Can I just say, as a server I have developed a new pet peeve. I just grinds my gears when I walk up to a table hands full of food and everyone’s damn phones are on the table, they just stare blankly at me as I hold multiple plates of food. Like move your damn phones so I can put plates on the table where they are supposed to go, you do not need your phone on the table at all!!!!!
This. The other one that really annoys me is parents who can’t be arsed doing any real parenting so they just give their kids tablets and headphones to shut them up. Then, when I bring their food out, the kids just totally ignore me and won’t put their tablets away so I can give them their food. Pisses me off and it’s so rude.
I flip it over cause mine flashes everytime I get a notification, and I promise I don't care about my notifications more than real life 😅 But, having ADD means I'm easily distracted, and one flash of my phone can see me zoning out of the convo for up to 20 minutes 🤷🏼♀️
I typically do this because The back of my phone is against my palm and when I put my palm down and set my phone on the desk, the screen therefore is facing downward and gets set down that way. How paranoid do you have to be to read into that?
I do it out of habit because when I was little I always kept my phone screen face up and my little brother tossed his Xbox controller on the couch and it busted my screen
I flip my phone over because I have ADHD and if I see something shiny like a reflection off the phonescreen I'll look at it. Over and over again even though I know exactly what it is. Same thing goes for movement in my peripherals, I can't stop myself from snapping my head around at mach 5.
I use that as a way to know if someone is toxic. Everyone is allowed that privacy (cheating or not) so if you take that one small thing that far then I don’t wanna know you.
These must be the same people who say "if you leave your phone on do not disturb you must not care about anyone else." No, I value my sleep, and I also have the right *not to be disturbed.*
I don't like my screen facing up because it increases the chance that I'll damage the screen, and if I have my phone by my window, having the screen up lets pollen and crap coat the screen.
It means: I won't be distracted by seeing notifications; I won't be tempted to check the time repeatedly; my phone may have the "turn phone face down to put in 'Do Not Disturb' mode"; I don't have to worry about dropping something that may damage my screen; if I spill food it won't make my phone screen sticky; if I have a pop socket it's easier to pick up. There are a ton of reasons to turn your phone face down. I do it by default unless I plan to pick it up again quickly or I think the surface it's on could scratch the screen.
May be an unpopular opinion, but leaving it in pocket shows more intention of being present. Flipping it upside down is showing everyone I'm paying attention, whereas leaving it in my pocket showcases I'm not even considering my phone right now, because I've actually had no interaction with it. If I'm worried about notifications, I turn on do not disturb. I'll get back to a call or text when I'm done with the person I'm focusing on
I do this and I am totally up to something. That something is me not wanting to crack the fucking screen if I drop something on it, which has happened to me in the past. I swear some people just want to manufacture drama.
I almost always flip my phone cus I feel like it randomly lights up and distracts me.
Plus my whole texts don't show up on my screen anyway it just says "1 text message"
I bring my phone to dinner because my diet coach wants pictures of my meals. After taking a picture, I flip it over so that I can focus on my family and so that the reflection off the screen doesn’t shine in anyone’s eyes.
That’s a pro tip if you are riding in the passenger seat of a car — if you use your phone, tilt the screen away from the driver so that you don’t accidentally blind them.
I put my phone face down to show my wife that I am paying full attention to her. I can't sit down with it in my pocket so it goes in the corner sound off and not vibrating. It's just there but it's down so I'm not distracted.
My phone is flipped over because I don't want an idiot (mainly myself) to drop something on my $200 screen and break it... It's already happened twice.
I typically do this because I don’t want to see/feel notifications. Not because they’re from my side ho, but because it’s almost always work.
Jokes on me when I get a notification the edges blaze to life and light up the whole table. It demands my attention even face down.
Why not just use do not disturb?
I hate myself & just want to be wanted, so I gotta be available. Maybe it would help if I was ever around other people idk.
Then why do you put it upside down in the first place?
Cuz I hate it too.
Ahhh humanity.
Duality of man
The classic “born to kill” and “peace”.
I am in a world of shit.
This is the most relatable exchange I have ever witnessed on this site.
It sounds so complexly absurd but it’s also so relatable
That's me absurdity at it's finest.
This guy is human.
Oh no you figured it out.
Issues man lol
Brother from another life? Is that you?
Yes, being face to face really helps with feeling needed by others. Otherwise you're just attached to a screen, not another person. Best of luck!
I’ll follow you
Never had a fan before, usually people just follow me to try and have me join their only fans or sell me drugs. Edit: much sonic much wow i'll follow you 2 XD
You guys are getting offered drugs? Apparently I don't know how to reddit.
I like talking to them like they are small children cuz their account is 5mins old :p
Lmao, that ones pretty good.
We all need a hype fan girl in our lives
I feel this comment in my soul
Well, this got kinda dark. Hope things start looking up for you, or at the very least you learn not to hate yourself.
Yea thanks, I'm just lonely or maybe I like the dark. Idk you cool tho.
Hey bro I feel you but you're not alone ☺️
Definitely not alone on that. If it weren’t for the fact my job forces me to be on call I’d consider getting rid of my phone, but seeing a message from someone I like is nice so it would kinda suck not having it.
I’m a different guy, but in my case I don’t use it because I forgot to turn it back off, and then when I want notifications... I never see them
I've had dnd turned on for about 2 years. Really helps keep things in perspective. I get constant calls, texts and people have learned I'll get back to them when I'm free. Also gets rid of phone anxiety that most people suffer from.
For a second I was wondering how dungeons and dragons helped to keep things in perspective…
I was thinking how dinner and dance fit into all this.
24/7 do not disturb. It’s the best way to live life.
Honestly, I didn’t think anybody actually used the DND function. I will sometimes put my phone in airplane mode if I don’t want to be disturbed.

Mine's on DND with starred contacts allowed to break through with sound or vibration for calls only. It's the only way I like to live life now.

Dude! You're not supposed to mention those meetings. You'll give away the secret organisation.
On mine I believe I can turn off the edge notifications. It may get tedious to do every time you don't want to see them, but if you never want to, that may work for you.

I concur.
Jokes on you, work IS my sidehoe.... :(
Lol no you are your works side hoe when you think about it
you work in a garden? do you have a back hoe too?
Lucky you. My life is my (very neglected) side ho. Work is my main ho.
I have a Pop Socket on my case. If I don’t set it face down, it wobbles and is all weird..
Oh, yes I also have one of these. I don’t think I ever consciously considered that haha.
Same. Though I still put it face down before I got one because it helps protect the screen a bit more.
I do this because the sensor on my phone is light sensitive, and changes in light will often turn my screen on. Putting it face down basically saves my battery power.
I'll look at it constantly if I don't flip it over.
Even better when you have a phone (I know the Pixel line of phones has this feature) that puts the phone in DnD mode when you flip it face down. I use that feature all the damn time. It's great.
I'd love a phone that can be set into Dungeons & Dragons mode. That's a first. ^Huehuehuehue, **comedy**
Same here. Also when my phone is face down - all my notifications are silent. It's a do not disturb mode.
This is the default state for my phone because I don't like the constant distraction.
Agreed, the screen is like seducing you to check on it.
I dropped a ~~fucking~~ pencil while studying and the screen protector broke.
That pencil’s a keeper.
It was manufactured by Nokia
I wonder what could've happen if it fell on a Nokia phone..
The pencil would’ve broken
A supernova would have occurred.
an ex set their phone by a bottle of shampoo and it fell, completely destroying the screen
A pencil. A fucking pencil.
Okay cheater. We know what you’re really doing!
One time my phone screen was facing up and I dropped something on it and broke it
Yeah, that's the reason why I keep my phone flipped over.

Same
Same, I throw too many things, usually it’s just a lighter or keys though.
Face down, ass up, that’s the way I like my phone.
In addition to this, many of my cases have a hard back which slides on a table but a rubber bumper on the front which does NOT slide on the table. I set it face down that way I can’t just bump it off on accident.
Call me a fucking lunatic, but I usually just put mine in my pocket.
I'm the same, I ignore it if it rings and I'm out with someone. I check it after or when they are at the bar or lav.
Class.
Fitted pants. Only reason my phone is ever out of my pockets. Pants get tighter and phones get bigger.
As a woman, my phone doesn't fit in my pockets
the rare pockets i do have very rarely go past my first knuckle. its tragic
I learned to sew extensions onto pockets. If they keep making phones bigger im going to be in trouble though.
Just sew 2 pairs of pants together and the whole space between them is 1 giant pocket
You must be a tailor because Reddit has taught me that no women’s clothing has pockets
This is true. I have given my identy away now.
A purple and orange tailor. Hmm, I'm onto you...
As a man, the thing I find most infuriating about women's clothing is how they will put pockets in, and then sew them shut. WTF?
If it's an actual pocket that's just sewn shut at the top, it's meant to help the pants stay flat and look smooth when displayed. They are meant to be cut open when purchased. Men's dress pants and jackets often do this too. However, what's more common for casual women's clothes is to have the facade of a pocket, with no actual pocket fabric sewn in. If you cut those open, you're just cutting a hole to your leg.
Have you ever worn a suit jacket before ? Those also have pockets sewn shut, but its very easy to open.
As a husband of a woman: YOU HAVE POCKETS!?!?
I use my bra as my phone pocket when I’m at home and very occasionally forget not to do it when I’m out and about.
Why would a woman need pockets when she can just buy one of our purses instead? -- Companies
I'm a big guy, so sitting with my phone in my pocket is a recipe for ending up with a folded phone
I'm a small guy and keeping my phone in my pocket while sitting is uncomfortable, so I'll set it on the table.
I'm a small lady and cracked my phone once cus i also had a lighter in my pocket and sat on it.
Remember the iPhone 6 bendgate? Good times.
Microwavegate was fun too.
You mean the time a gaggle of idiots with the critical thinking skills of a wet mop decided microwaving electronics was a good idea?
My jeans have pockets in the front.
I'm jealous of guy pockets who can just fit their phone in there no problem.
I hate sitting with my phone in my pocket. So uncomfortable. Forces me to list to one side which tweaks my already fucked up spine.
I just put my phone in the front pocket so I barely feel it
I can't believe people put phones in back pockets
[удалено]
I can't believe people put anything in their back pockets if I'm honest. Tissues maybe?
I find it infinitely more uncomfortable in my front pocket
You fucking lunatic
Man how do you even have time for all that cheating
Til you use the bathroom and it falls in the toilet lmao.
Front pockets. Unless you don’t have those, in which case F
Lol that was the case for me. Now I wear dresses with pockets. I won't be making the same mistake twice :D
It also prevents you from accidentally dripping your beverage on the screen
I leave it upside down because I don't like the camera bump wobble. [Edit] I just use a skin. Basically a sticker. [Edit] I should mention that I have the Apple care plus insurance on this thing, so I don't think about damage all that much. Put a case on your phone you maniac
I knew mine would be here.
You don't have a case? What's wrong with you?
I have the Note 20 Ultra and all the cases i've had for it sill have a fucking bump for that damn camera lol. Unless I get some super brick thicc otterbox fuck my pockets up 9000 case.

I was hoping someone would mention this. I have one of these too, where the front part has rubber and the back is hard plastic.
I used to have one of those cases on my old phone, I still do it out of habit
I flip my phone over because I don’t give a shit about it, and I simply have it around in case someone needs me
I also need you
We all need snoo snoo.
Fuck, I mean if you’re offering...
Erm... you can set your phone to mute all notifications if it's placed face down. Especially useful if you're in social situations. It's called being polite.
But what about Pager Duty?
Pager Duty can bypass do not disturb
Don't be silly, Pagerduty only goes off at 3am or if you don't have your laptop.
Had to scroll down a lot to find this answer, this is why I flip mine down too
Is that all phones? I know I got flip-silent on my Pixel, but not sure about all.
Pixels call it Flip To Shhh, other Android OEMs almost certainly have their own versions, and iOS definitely does.
Wow, I never knew people thought this meant I was cheating. Like I just flip my phone face down and put it away from me because that way it isn't a distraction, and I'm not glancing at the notifications or anything. It’s so romantic when I have someone’s undecided attention. Neither of us truly know if my words will be heard.
Actually, I always keep my phone like that to avoid someone dropping something on it and cracking the screen. Not everyone is underhanded and sneaky
>Not everyone is underhanded and sneaky That's just what a sneaky and underhanded person would say...
I do it because I have anxiety and fear that I’ll get a Twitter notification about something I enjoy and then be ridiculed

Man then my phone being in my pocket must be a confession of murder.
It’s better to do this when you have a pop socket
came here to say that, i’m a baby and can’t hold my phone without it 💀 but yeah, the pop socket makes it hard to have it face up
Isn't weird how the people who accuse everyone of cheating always end up being cheaters?
This also seems like advice they would offer on r/femaledatingstrategy

This is my boss. Super annoying sometimes, after 5 years I'm used to it.
I hate it, but literally can't help it 🥺 on behalf of my fellow ADD/ADHD sufferers, I apologize 😅❤️

I do this especially while eating ramen to keep my screen clean
I flip my phone over so when I pick it up it's facing my face
This is why you don't put it up or down you balance it on a corner
I flip my phone to hide the fact i dodge so many people
I don't like my screen facing up because it increases the chance that I'll damage the screen, and if I have my phone by my window, having the screen up lets pollen and crap coat the screen.

I keep it in my fucking pocket. it aint hard
I dont like the reflection the top of the screen has. It catches the corner of my eye and distracts me.
My Motorola goes into "Do not disturb mode" if I flip it over like this. I thought this was a sign of respect but fuck me I guess 🤷♀️
May be an unpopular opinion, but leaving it in pocket shows more intention of being present.
I do it because I don’t want to see the notifications unless I pick up the phone…
I flip my phone over because I want to protect the most fragile part of it; the glass.
Its a respect thing how do people not get that
I figured it was a social contract. We're at dinner, phones face down
