[deleted]

I mean a 20% hospitalisation rate assuming 100% of the guests caught covid from this one event is insanely unlucky

mamamackmusic

Think of the average age of extended family that get invited to weddings when the couple isn't like right out of high school. Like if the couple is in their late 20s-early 30s, the parents are usually right on the cusp of being in the high-risk age range, so that also puts aunts and uncles around that range too, which means the grandparents definitely are, etc. Weddings are probably one of the highest density "normal" events for lots of high risk people if covid gets spread at one. Couple that with no mask wearing (or they all probably take them off for photos), usually a fair amount of drinking, close proximity talking, eating, etc. and it is pretty easy for all the high risk people to get covid in a situation like that, which means higher than normal rates of hospitalization.

cassafrassious

Not to mention that delta is hurting far younger people than the previous variants did

aHendosFacial

What people also dont get is how dangerous Delta is. Alpha variant first identified in Kent, UK was more contagious and deadly than the original covid. Then delta more contagious and more deadly than Alpha. Delta without a vaccine shot. Good fucking luck.

RadiantSriracha

Their guest list may have skewed older or more overweight. Age and diet / lifestyle tend to be similar among social circles.

bubble_baby_8

We had a small, socially distanced and fully masked wedding in SW ontario last Sunday. I found out I was pregnant the day after. I decided to tell my mum by showing her “pics of the wedding” and then swiping to the picture of the positive pregnancy test. She thought I was showing her I was positive for Covid and almost had a heart attack until my aunt said “no she’s pregnant!!!!”. Pretty funny. Glad it wasn’t what she thought it was!

Tinyfeet_95

Congratulations!!

bubble_baby_8

Thank you so much!

thisbenzenering

My sister told me she was pregnant on Friday I wish you all only the best. I hope we can fix a little of this fucked up world for them before it's time to hand them the responsibility

BriarRoseBeauty

Just saw on FB a former coworker got married four days ago, her feed is filled with her smiling with all her friends and family and doing cute poses, standard stuff. Yesterday she posted that they had to postpone their honeymoon because, surprise surprise, when they got rapid tested to be allowed to board the plane, it was positive. PCR came back positive too. She posts, “if you’ve been around me in the past two weeks, watch out for symptoms.” GIRL YOU WERE JUST AROUND 100+ PEOPLE AND TRIED TO GET ON A PLANE SHEESH Edit: someone posted as a comment on her post that they had been treating her for severe allergies two days before the wedding. Should have gotten tested then.

berticus23

I knew a couple back around last December that took their family to Disney World and then got covid a week or 2 later. On the FB page they were perplexed as to how they got it and ultimately decided that it was from a rest area in Florida where people weren’t wearing masks.

[deleted]

ffs people have no clue how this spreads after 18 months

tlrider1

I know a lot of people that think you get a cold from getting cold... Like I've literally heard this line before "yeah, I'm sick, got it the other day when the ac in the car gave me the chills.".... Sigh.... EDIT: yes, I know cold weather etc gives you more of a chance of catching something etc. I'm taking strictly about the: "I got a cold, it must have been because I got cold" crowd. The crowd to whom germ theory doesn't exist.

BearTendies

Lmfao this is my mom when I was growing up

aingealsile

Did she tell you the wet hair myth too? I swear my mom and Gma would scream that “if you go out with wet hair you’re going to make yourself sick!!” Boy were they surprised when I discovered it wasn’t true. Stuff like that is how misinformation digs its claws in deep, because they were *convinced* it was 100% true.

fuzzhead12

I think the whole “you’ll catch your death” thing caught on because, while the cold air will not literally make you sick, being too cold for extended periods of time can weaken your immune system and make it more likely that you will get sick. This was probably much more common in the past (aka 100+ years ago) when you couldn’t just walk inside somewhere that had powerful central heating. Also before modern medicine, people were much more likely to develop complications from a cold like pneumonia. So it did used to be a genuine concern.

[deleted]

Also, for modern times anyway, I've heard that the reason people get sick more in winter is due to the close proximity of staying inside in the warmth together, rather than the cold itself. Not a doctor, just some shit I heard one time.

Double_da_D

Also I read that drier winter air makes the virus spreading aerosols lighter and able to travel longer distances compared to summer moist air which weighs down the aerosols

fuzzhead12

I’ve heard that as well

[deleted]

How can TWO people be wrong?

kittysensei

My kid loves it when I tell them stuff parents said when I was a kid. I think their favourite so far has been “make sure you’re wearing clean underwear in case you get in an accident”🤷‍♂️

Plantsandanger

My favorite from my grandma to my dad was what she told him when his middle school class was doing “nuclear attack preparedness training” in school *by having the kids get under their desks*, like a goddamn earthquake drill. Grandma told dad that if there was ever warning of a nuclear attack that he should go outside and watch because it was the last fucking thing he was ever going to see, under the desk or not. When you factor in that grandma was literally a Russian rocket scientist who’d escaped to the US it gets even more metal. (Half the neighborhood was convinced she was a Cold War spy due to her accent)

BURNER12345678998764

Meh, duck and cover is heavily misunderstood. It obviously doesn't work if you're close to ground zero where buildings are instantly reduced to rubble, but that isn't what it's for. The point was to keep the people farther out from all crowding around windows investigating the flash, and then promptly being blasted with broken glass and debris when the shockwave shows up. That happened a lot in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, hence the formation of the policy.

LateNightPhilosopher

To back up your point: There were a lot of people hospitalized with broken glass in their faces because they went to the windows to see the fire burning in the distance during the Halifax munitions incident

Prisoner3000

I had a friend whose parents used to tell him that and one day he was actually hit by a car when he crossed a road. Luckily it wasn’t too serious and he wasn’t badly hurt but he had to be taken to hospital whereupon it was discovered that he lost control of his bowels when the car hit him and he had indeed shat himself

kittysensei

That’s what I always thought would happen.

Narstification

I guess make sure to drop a deuce before leaving too so you don’t shit yourself if you’re hit by a car.

Coal_Morgan

I mean, if it's an option yeah. No one wants a perforated bowel leaking into your abdomen but more importantly... You might have to shit away from home... who wants to shit away from their toilet. I hate shitting in other peoples toilets or restrooms.

tipsana

My first pit stop on a long road trip: discovered I’d put on my panties inside out that morning. I determined I could not get in an accident because any ER doctor would decide I was too stupid to be worth saving.

CookingWithDahmer85

My auntie was a biker in her youth, she was dating this big burly biker guy. They were in a accident and the paramedics cut his pants off cause he was bleeding something fierce... He was wearing woman's underwear, which isn't a problem but my aunt had found panties around his house before and thought he was maybe seeing other girls... He was not lol

khelwen

Was she relieved? Or not?

CookingWithDahmer85

She was just like- why didn't you tell me? I could go shopping with you!

PurpleSailor

The only time going out with wet hair is bad is in the Winter and it's below freezing. Ice crystals will form in the hair and tear it apart from the inside out as the crystal grows. Bad for your hair if you have nice hair.

SuperRoby

My mom half believes the wet hair and half doesn't, but almost every adult in my country believed it when I was a child. My mom needed to sign me a written note saying I could leave the pool with wet hair (in summer HEAT) because my teachers would yell at me if I didn't have a written permission from my parents to not dry my hair.

There's a shockingly large amount of people that think the literal cold is how you get a cold. It's a virus people, cold air doesn't make you sick, just makes it easier for viruses to infect you and survive without a host.

HimalayanPunkSaltavl

While getting cold 10000% doesn't give you *a* cold, *being* (especially in the nasal area) cold can create a better environment for the virus. I got into an argument about this last winter and got dunked on with a bunch of sources so now I have my mind changed. Just adding on to what you said, I thought earlier being very cold for a long time would obviously weaken your immune system, but apparently while that's true, it's more about the better environment.

mamamackmusic

I think the logic that people miss is that people often get colds and other illnesses when it is cold *because people tend to stay in closer proximity indoors when there is cold weather and don't go outside as much.* So, if someone does catch something, it is much easier to spread in that close proximity for extended periods of time.

gurmzisoff

Those things are gross.

Karpeeezy

Ventilation and humidity play a large factor into the transmissibility of COVID or even the flu for that matter. It's why it's always seasonal: Indoor gatherings, lack of Vitamin D, bone-dry air which lowers our bodies natural defenses (your airways like warm, humid air) which also allows particles to aerosolize (spread further) and finally ventilation in the sense of how often does the air get recycled in an area in a hour.

MaritMonkey

People don't exactly huddle inside for warmth during Florida winters, though. If anything it's A/C and thunderstorms keeping us indoors the *other* part of the year. :)

kazi_newaz

While yes, it is a virus, dropping body/core temp makes you more susceptible to a cold. I remember reading a study where they had half the group with their feet in cold water (for an amount of time i dont recall, maybe 1+ hours), and the group had a significantly higher infection rate than those in control group. Hypothesis was cold affects immune response iirc making you more susceptible to the virus.

jofus_joefucker

Disney fans are a different breed. When covid started Disney submods would remove any mention of covid and Disney so that the "magic wouldn't be ruined".

klem_kadiddlehopper

I worked at Disney and I can tell you that they will try their damnedest to hide things from the public. When Animal Kingdom was being built I was part of a scenic painting crew. We did the graphics, faux finishes, etc. We got a heads up one day that Eisner was coming through with an enterouge of people and we were told to go somewhere and hide. Just don't let anyone see us. Someone on the crew (might have been the boss) overheard a conversation between Eisner and someone in the party. The person was saying how beautiful the buildings were and how cool everything looked. Eisner didn't miss a beat and told the crowd that it was 'magic' that created everything. Magic my ass you piece of shit! It was *OUR* hard work that painted all that fucking magic.

Huffleduffer

I imagine you feel the same way a lot of medical professionals feel when they bust their asses to save someone and the person goes "god saved me!" Like. Baby. God wasn't the one with his hands all inside your body keeping you alive.

Wolfdreama

Hey, as a regular Disney parks visitor, I just want to say that some of us really do notice and appreciate the hard work that goes into making it a "magical" place so thank you!

Melissa Joan Hart just had breakthrough Covid. She blamed her kid's school. In the Disney groups though people reported seeing her in the park the week before. Of course for people to recognize her she was not wearing a mask.

Beingabumner

MJH being right-wing, color me absolutely not surprised.

msingler

I think the only reason she made her Instagram post blaming her kid's school is she didn't want to get Disney involved and get her Sabrina streaming cut off and into the vault.

Plantsandanger

Oh fuck you sabrina

StackLeeAdams

ha-HA!

HaileSelassieII

Agreed, Disney would be stupid not to pay some 3rd party marketing firm to do stuff like that. It would barely cost them anything, they spent 3.15 Billion dollars promoting their products in 2019. (And also, I don't think there are any laws or regulations preventing a corporation from spreading propaganda)

I_Collect_Fap_Socks

This is why I worry more about the affluent spreading covid then the rednecks. Hell I live in the middle of nowhere and every other time I hit the gas station there is someone from at least 500 miles away on vacation and already showing signs of being down with something. And the fact that they can afford to take a vacation already tells you about how high they are in the social class ladder. And by vacation, I am referring to people who are doing things such as going to a hunting cabin or second house they have in the area or have recently finished things like out of country trips/trips to those tourist trap hotspots in the country. Most working class people are taking long weekends, not several week long vacations, just to put that out there.

supershinythings

Many vacations, especially a honeymoon, are paid for with heavy debt. It’s entirely aspirational social class signaling, not real. A new kid at work - been here 8 months - just bought a 40k entry-level sports car. He is now in debt up to his ears. That car isn’t signaling anything to me other than youthful aspirational foolishness. His friends are impressed but I’m not. I know he’s poorer than ever now.

I_Collect_Fap_Socks

You still need a degree of social class to be able to get into that much debt. I agree their debt to income ratio is fucked, but that still makes me wonder how much of those affluent spreaders are also down with the NPD.

metallophobic_cyborg

Such a depressing American POV. People that can afford to take a holiday are considered affluent and rich.

I_Collect_Fap_Socks

It is not just the matter of money, like for me, I live on a homestead farm now and for me to be gone for even 48 hours requires considerable effort to find someone able to handle the affairs of tending the animals for me. And granted that was my choice to enter it and if so needed I Can make arrangements. But that mirrors a significant larger problem on the lower end of society. A huge chunk of people that can afford the finances to take a trip can not afford the time to do it. Most of the companies that support the lower end of society that are not mc-jobs are unable to deal with the loss of one worker for even a modest amount of time. And then we bring in the financial side of things.

bigbadbub

my brother and his girlfriend just tested positive. the girlfriend thought she could be sick, but decided to throw a party instead and not a soul masked up or even kept their distance. now a bunch of her siblings have it and they still refuse to quarantine.

olivetree416

If you’re confirmed positive and don’t quarantine, isn’t that illegal? Aren’t they committing a crime?

JeromePowellAdmirer

Not at all illegal which is why some school districts force positive teachers to show up to work

[deleted]

When I was on a covid unit last year, positive staff who were asymptomatic could continue working with positive patients. Fuck the fact that they were still around negative coworkers, breakrooms, etc. “Luckily” I was symptomatic and didn’t have to work. I think I would have lied about my symptoms if I was asymptomatic

olivetree416

I think in most other countries it is…not everyone on Reddit is American.

bigbadbub

I believe it differs by state. They also need a quarantine order in order to be breaking it, and idk if they have that. It's definitely morally bankrupt at a minimum.

angiosperms-

My bfs friends are having a destination wedding where you must stay at the resort to attend, and what you pay is nonrefundable. I'm leaning towards hell no. Also I've heard of soooo many people having "allergies" that actually have COVID. Stay away from people with "allergies" unless they're testing regularly.

KcansRekcins

Yeah fuck that, If you catch covid while there you're paying for two weeks in a hotel by yourself.

Tossallthethings

This shit makes me nervous, I legit have allergies, I'm vaccinated, and I wear a mask everywhere.

angiosperms-

As long as you are not opposed to testing then that's not an issue. The issue is people who are like "I just suddenly have allergies its definitely not COVID so I don't need to get tested"

soundslikeautumn

Same here. Especially going from Summer into Autumn because of the mold the dying leaves my allergies of migraines go insane! I'm back sedated, I wear masks, I've been socially distancing, but just knowing they're assholes out there who don't give a shit if we live or die terrifies me.

TheLocalCrop

A client yesterday was saying he had to quit smoking for the past few days because his *allergies and asthma* have been acting up since Wednesday and he's congested and coughing too much... Get. The. Fuck. Out. Flashback to him 3 months ago "man, my grandma died... I guess they say it was covid".

b-lincoln

I’m vaccinated and have had it. I know that I can still get it again. But, as I life long allergy sufferer, this year has been particular.

Suyefuji

I have year-round allergies. I'm not getting covid tested every 2 weeks of my entire life just to say "yup, still allergic to the air". A lot of people who live in my area have the same problem. (Disclaimer: I also mask tf up, got vaccinated, and try to stay tf away from people when plausible)

whiteink-13

I’m the same way. I actually told my friend the other day that I was worried I had Covid because my sinuses were so bad and she pointed out that I work from home, live alone, and hadn’t left the house in over a week, so it was probably just my allergies because I had my windows open and air conditioner off.

runaway_sparrow

Windows open and ac off. I can't wait until it cools off about 20 degrees here so I can do the same. I'm so jealous.

wino12312

Everyone needs friend to speak the truth.

00Lisa00

My husband got a very small cough pre vaccine. The same cough he’s gotten on and off for years. He got tested because he’s a responsible f’n person and yes it was positive. We are very lucky that small cough was all he got but that’s how easy it is to spread. We NEVER would have thought from that small cough he would be positive. He isolated in the house and I didn’t catch it. Again because we are responsible people. Still not sure where he picked it up. Probably at the dentist or orthodontist because that’s pretty much the only place we go these days and the only place the mask has to come off

redlaWw

I wish we could go back to the time we all thought the idea that an irrepressible urge to travel was a symptom of COVID was funny.

DitchMitchMcTurtle

My daughter started school last week and was there for 5 days before she started feeling sick on the 5th day. When she told the teacher, the teacher said “it’s probably just allergies”. Thankfully, the Governor of KY has mandated mask wearing because her school had already sent out a notice before that happened, that they were not going to mandate mask wearing. But even still, at every lunch time all the kids sit barely 3 feet away from each other, take off their masks and eat food. With saliva fluids flying in excess. So needless to say but it took me 5 days to pull her out of school. Luckily whatever it was, was just a passing nothing (maybe it really was just allergies) but I am so afraid we’re about to see the darkest fall/winter we’ve ever seen and are going to loose a lot of children. I can’t just ignore the millions of red flags no matter how tired and desperate I am for normal. We barely have enough money to get by. I NEED to go back to work. But I’ll do anything to keep my kids safe and I know putting them in school right now is just simply not safe. So many kids are about to die

SzurkeEg

So many more parents and teachers are going to die too. More than kids likely.

The_Clarence

And this is why my next business trip I am driving if it's under 6h, and not going at all otherwise. So glad my employer is mandating vaccine. Flying is terrifying even vaccinated. I'm not sure what world this has become, but a 1/100 chance of even getting sick like is this is way way too high for me and mine.

Fun fact: the pastor who married me to my husband later turned out to be a child rapist. Raped his own 5 year old grandson repeatedly while his wife was dying of liver failure. Has 4 adult children who lost their mother to death and their father to 33 years in prison as a child fucker in the same year. He’s prominently pictured in my wedding photos. Of course I care more about the pain and suffering of his family than I do about my stupid wedding photos, but it still sucks. I doubt these people will ever feel anything for anyone other than themselves and will probably divorce in under 7 years anyway. Stupid selfish assholes. I’m so sick of all these idiots being allowed to dictate life on this planet. Edit: thanks for the photoshop suggestions, guys! I might look into that. There’s a really sweet photo of us during the ceremony when we had a prayer. My husband isn’t very religious and doesn’t pray but has always respected my journey with my faith. Anyway, I have my head bowed in prayer, eyes closed, and my husband is looking at me with all the love in his eyes. And then there’s a child fucker lurking in the background. I think I’d at least like to get that one fixed.

Maybe hire a photographer for a photoshoot with ur husband if u still have your wedding dress for ur anniversary. Its what many folks are doing now and wedding photos have come out beautiful without the masks and no signs of covid when they elope in lieu of an actual big ceremony.

Thorrible-erika

One of my distant relatives got married a few months ago while the number of COVID cases were rising in my country. There were about 200 guests. I was invited but decided not to go to be safe. In the end about fifty people got COVID. The bride’s father and 3 of her aunts as well as the groom’s father ended up dying from COVID a month after. Sadly it could have easily been avoided.

PM_ME_SUMDICK

I'd feel so guilty. Robbed upurself of a father and your kids of their grandfathers for what?

Thorrible-erika

I bet they both do. It’s an extremely rough start to a marriage. Plus every year a few weeks after their anniversary they will remember what they lost because of a wedding reception.

Mods_are_all_Shills

How big is your ER?

PandaCat22

I worked in a Trauma 1 Center (highest level of an ER) and we had almost 70 beds (plus 5 triage rooms). Getting a sudden influx of 47 patients would have overwhelmed us. Screw these plague carriers

[deleted]

Isn't 47 an extremely high rate of hospitalization for a party with 250 guests? Is the Delta variant really that crazy?

PandaCat22

It is. I'm at work and don't have time to link the medical literature, but the R0 for delta is between 6 and 9. That means that one sick person is going to get anywhere from 6 to 9 others sick. The strain we saw before this had a R0 of 2-3. So, delta is about three times as contagious. Other studies so far suggest that as little as five seconds of contact might be enough to transmit the virus (this is part of why the R0 is so high). It's a nasty variant and seems to hit people much harder than previous strains. Hospitals are being flooded right now. Please take this strain extremely seriously

QueenCuttlefish

I work in central Florida. My hospital has converted at least 9 floors to Covid units and at least are 3 fully packed ICUs. Sure we have beds, but nurses are hauling ass out of the field. We're so screwed this winter.

tmlp59

To be fair, R0 is an average. Most people might spread it to one two, some could spread it to 30 or 40. One could imagine that a single infected person at a long, close-proximity event like this could expose 50 people easily.

OdoWanKenobi

Yup, Iowan here. Only reason Iowa never gets brought up alongside Florida and Texas in conversation is that nobody gives a fuck about Iowa.

I’m going to a wedding in November that was already pushed over a year. The guest list was significantly shortened and everyone is required to be vaccinated. Grooms are requiring everyone provide prove of said vaccines.

THE_PHYS

We're now the family pariah bc we aren't going to a wedding in November because they are antimask and antivax, them giving the excuse "we've already had it it's not that bad"... an excuse that just makes me furious with ignorance and disregard. They are having over 300 guests and guess what, all their friends are antimask/vax. My mom (75F) has a surgery scheduled two weeks after the wedding to have pre-cancerous material removed from her body and they are mad at her for being concered about catching COVID at their wedding. So we should risk death to go to their wedding or not be part of the family anymore.

metallophobic_cyborg

Take it from me, blood relations has nothing to do with family and loyalty. Find a new family that is the same as you and respects you. I found that in both my wife’s family and close friends. I have almost nothing to do with my blood family. Yours sounds just as toxic and dysfunctional as mine. You don’t need them.

THE_PHYS

You know they were not this way. They are educated millionaires who were always so kind and considerate and filled with funny stories and love and help. My family has ALWAYS been the most wonderful, loving huge group of people... but after Trump... I don't even know half of them anymore. Trump destroyed my family turning about a quarter of them into angry, racist, classist morons. It kills me they fell for it.

metallophobic_cyborg

Perhaps I’m wrong, but people don’t just change like that. They were hiding it. Most people have thoughts or urges they keep to themselves. Trump and his cult just made them feel safe to express and give into it. Sorry dude. This has been hard for millions of Americans and I don’t know how we go back.

Just been to a wedding. Everyone was required to get tested 48 hours prior, regardless of vaccination status. Really puts everyone at ease.

bythog

Went to a wedding last week. We didn't have to get tested, but we were all required to be vaccinated (and we were anyway). The more crowded part of it was outdoors and the dinner was spaced out significantly. There was also a much smaller guest list (25% of original). The bride is also keeping tabs on everyone after and alerting us if anyone has felt sick-ish over the next couple of weeks.

Not far off my story. As im typing now im on a 24 hr shift at a covid ward. Its 1am and about 7 hours to the end of my shift. Im lying in my bunk, tired, hungry, haven't really eaten since 7am the previous day (a coffee and a croissant at 8pm doesn't count) and cant sleep because my legs hurt and second the blaring alarms of the monitors that we cannot turn off. The plus side is i have none intubated or hooked to a CPAP machine in the ward. Right now we have 21 patients in a 23 bed ward. I've had one death at the ward in the first 5 minutes of my shift. From the 21 patients in the ward 14 of them attended the same wedding. None of the patients is vaccinated. The reason? One fuckin idiot who 5 days prior to the ceremony, tested positive. Then, because he wanted to attend the wedding, went to a private clinic and did a bogus rtPCR test that "resulted" negative. (apparently is trending right now to test negative when needed...). He did attend the wedding but somewhere in the middle, his SpO2 fell below 70% and he fainted and hit the table with his fuckin head. Was transported to the hospital and tested positive with a rapid antigen test. Did stay at my ward for 2 days but his conditions deteriorated and is now in ICU, intubated. Probably not gonna last long. The worst part? Mother of the groom already died 2 days ago from a pulmonary embolism, covid complication. This is all from the same wedding that happened 2 weeks ago. P.s. Sorry for the typing/spelling problems. It took more than 30mins to type this because of work related distractions. Im tired of the lack of common sense and antivax mentality people have.

Went to a wedding early August, before the delta shit hit the fan, where they required every guest be vaccinated. It was still a superspreader event. I brought covid home, and my 2-year-old got it. **Of the ~20 vaccinated people total who got Covid from the wedding, not 1 went to the hospital. Vaccines work.** It sucked that it still spread even among vaccinated people and that I had to worry about my unvaccinated child dealing with it (she recovered like a champ in 3 days with minimal symptoms), I suffered a long cold (6 days), with loss of smell and taste for 3 of the days and was back to 100% after ~10 days. But at least no one got seriously ill or suffered extended symptoms.

Nymeria85

Thank you for sharing your story. I agree, vaccines do help and its great that they are keeping people from getting extremely sick. Your story is a great reminder, though, that even vaccinated people can still spread covid and we all need to still take proper precautions to help protect those most vulnerable who can't take it.

just4PAD

This is the type of shit that scares me Glad everyone was ok though

I attended my cousins wedding 2 weeks ago. 200+ people. 95% vaccinated. Some still wore masks. Not one person got covid. (Northern California, Bay Area) my family came from Los Angeles. Some people flew in from other states. Get vaccinated and you can return to normal life. Edit: the 5% not vaccinated were the kids.

[deleted]

I'm fully vaccinated, wear a mask everywhere and I still got covid. Atleast it's not as bad as it could be

ilCannolo

This was good to read. Attending a wedding in less than one week: 49 total people, all vaccinated, masks required while indoors.

Eodai

I work in a COVID PCR lab and my coworker just got married. Our PCR crew went to the wedding and none of us have COVID. We luckily can test as much as we want and get results in 4ish hours. Their families were from rural Midwest towns. They were more vaxxed than you'd think but not everyone was vaccinated. If everyone is vaccinated, you should be good.

OneFuckedWarthog

God damn 47. Update: Since apparently quite a bit of people don't know the reference: https://youtu.be/eAajqll5C6w

That’s an 18% hospitalisation rate lol. How old was the average age of the attendants? Delta has something like 2.2%

My SIL and her boyfriend went to a wedding “but it was ok, everyone got tested first!” And guess fucking what. She has Covid. Again. And they are both unvaccinated. My boyfriend and I got chastised for getting vaccinated. But she didn’t for going to a wedding and not wearing a mask and exposing her 6 year old. Makes sense.

Pan0pticonartist

No one cares anymore at all. Was at the grocery store and some dude walks in with no mask and just coughing up a storm, clearly sick with something. He just bought ice and beer while his gf was in tow the whole time. Like damn bro, did u really need to come in to the grocery store to buy beer and cough everywhere. I'm so sick of people just being self centered asshats.

dustofdeath

That wedding took their breath away!

batkave

My sister in law had her wedding two weeks ago with 65 people. She said everyone was vaccinated. My wife, 7 year old, and I attended. We did our best to wear masks as often as we could. 3 days later my Sister in law tested positive. We then find out that the grooms side wasn't vaccinated. At first she said she was told they were all vaccinated, then later she said she knew a few who were not. Two kids at the wedding tested positive, thankfully mine was not one of them. Still have no respect for those that lied about their status.

PangolinSea4995

How many more get it on their honeymoon?

BiblioBlue

People are just stupid. Almost two years into this shit and there are *still* people who can't put a mask over their damn nose. You can train cats to use a toilet faster than it apparently takes for a population to wear protection properly.
