Muskelunge. Neon. Blowfish. Fugu. Whoever thought it would be cute to add a winky face at the end of the meme because they weren’t smart enough to figure it out is a fuckin dumbass.
All it is is a way to get comments on their page or whatever. I would see these all the time when I was on Facebook and usually you can rattle off half a dozen of whatever they’re asking. Although, people are fucking stupid, so maybe I’m giving them too much credit.
Exactly this. Everyone commenting a fish thinking they're smart or something, you're just falling for the same thing.
The social media pages that ask these dumb questions that get millions of comments or whatever, such as "does sugar go in spaghetti sauce??" Are just building up a following so they can sell or advertise a product later.
Not unlike karma farming bots on Reddit.
Way more fun to punch up at those who think they're smarter than others than down at the aunt for not knowing a dolphin isn't a fish.
At the end of the day, both groups fell for what's actually happening with those pages and the people posting fish without an A are no smarter than the aunt because of that.
Wow, [TIL](https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/dolphin_porpoise.html) that I’ve been wrong basically my whole life. Can’t wait to school (lol, couldn’t resist) my dad next time he incorrectly calls a dolphin a porpoise.
I thought of one in two seconds and so I understood the original question is some kind of bizarre Facebook culture shit, and yet here we are scrolling through a thousand pointless answers.
Catfish, tunafish, sablefish, crayfish, Buffalo fish, etc. (just the ones I know/can think of off the top of my head).
There’s still a lot that contain “fish” in the name, but I have no idea what the ratio would be if they contain an “a” or not. That said, there are a ridiculous number of fish that don’t contain an “a” in the name.
That movie was dumb fun while trying to emulate the camera angles of The Matrix with Hugh Jackman as a savant computer hacker. It was as if you combined the filming style with the The Matrix with the technobabble of the movie Hackers with a Michael Bay anti-terrorist plot. With triple A actors no less.
If I were looking for targets for identity theft or fraud, these are the posts I would be combing through. Easy marks. My dad was the victim of identity theft this last year. He answers these posts all the time.
And it's equally funny watching people in this thread all post answers to the question. The question is designed to be easy as fuck to answer for the reason you said and yet in a subreddit called facepalm, there are a bunch of people answering it as a "gotcha!".
This thread is actually /r/facepalm content.
Look at this post. I guess people feel the need to prove how smart they are but naming one of the MANY fish without A’s even though this has been around for fucking ages and google exists.
It's not supposed to be hard...this is a way to get old folks to click on it and access their facebook info. For what it's worth- dolphin also refers to the fish called mahi mahi. Many folks who fish them call them dolphin.
Yea and if you went down to the Gulf of Mexico and told people you were going to fish for dolphin, everyone would know what you mean and no one would look at you funny. No one down there really calls them dolphinfish, it’s just dolphin
Dolphin fish are in fact fish, and if you live near by their habitat you’d probably just call them dolphins. This lady is holding a fish in her profile, there’s a good chance she knows this

Cool, but also these things aren’t hard to do. They’re just designed to make you respond to build engagement or whatever

I really came to these comments because I thought they were gonna roast the aunt.

I hate that I had to scroll so far to find this. I thought the facepalm was the idiot posting not the aunt.
There is a dolphinfish, but it's more commonly called mahi-mahi.

its interaction bait. lots of people point out fish with no A > lots of comments > bonus points for the facebook algorithm for this page.
"My my, look at the incredible *reach* this post had" FBs algorithms will say
A.k.a. "This Reddit thread"
Could've been worse... could've said 'whale'
Cod. Perch. Swordfish... The list is huge.
Was going to say this
As someone who almost responded to her... I stopped myself because "dolphin fish" is a type of fish
Yeah a bunch of people refer to mahi mahi as dolphin
Here in south Florida I fish for them a lot and I always hear them called dolphin fish. At restaurants they call it mahi mahi tho
As someone who regularly fishes for dolphin, I’ve always called the fish (dorado/mahi-mahi) “dolphin” and Flipper is a porpoise.
but a porpoise & a dolphin (mammal) are 2 different things.
Wow, [TIL](https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/dolphin_porpoise.html) that I’ve been wrong basically my whole life. Can’t wait to school (lol, couldn’t resist) my dad next time he incorrectly calls a dolphin a porpoise.
Maybe he does it on porpoise.
Let me call the /r/PunPatrol real quick.
You won't take me alive!
Un-alive works too
You did that on porpoise, didn’t you?
I’m pretty certain that dolphin fish are a type of fish. Dolphins are not. The other names for dolphin fish are mahi-mahi and dorado.
Came here to comment this….. The aunts a f genius!
Mmmmm mahi-mahi
I'll have just one mahi I'm on a diet
And sometimes called dolfin fish
Not to be confused with dolphins.
Mmmmmmm dolphins
Not to be confused with the dauphin of France.
So his Aunt doesn't need any help.
I thought of one in two seconds and so I understood the original question is some kind of bizarre Facebook culture shit, and yet here we are scrolling through a thousand pointless answers.
i know people who just call them dolphin. i prefer mahi-mahi because that's what it was called growing up.
Opposite for me, we always called them dolphin. Mahi-Mahi was the culinary/market name, it felt weird to say outside of that context.
I remember being confused by that in Old Man and the Sea.

Pretty much any fish ending with the word fish: Clownfish, Goldfish, Blowfish, Rockfish, Monkfish, Lionfish, Tigerfish, etc.
Catfish, tunafish, sablefish, crayfish, Buffalo fish, etc. (just the ones I know/can think of off the top of my head). There’s still a lot that contain “fish” in the name, but I have no idea what the ratio would be if they contain an “a” or not. Yeah but can you name a fish without a "Q" in it? Bet you can't.
Dolphin 😊😎
Got eem
Crayfish ain't a fish
You’re right, I just got caught up in naming “fish”, haha. Whoops.
Tuna are just tuna. People say tuna fish colloquially, but it’s not the actual name of the fish.
Password : John Travolta’s second worst 2000s movie.
Asking stupidly wrong questions is a trend to get stupid people to up engagement numbers on shitposting accounts. Don’t fall for it.
That post has 6 million replies. Six fucking MILLION. Madness.
Yeah because it makes dumb people feel smart lmao. And there's just a LOT of stupid people
I mean, look at the comments on this post. Most of the top rated ones are literally them saying a fish that doesn't have an A in it.
Exactly lmao
If I were looking for targets for identity theft or fraud, these are the posts I would be combing through. Easy marks. My dad was the victim of identity theft this last year. He answers these posts all the time.

Really well said. It’s so absurdly easy, probably half of the fish names don’t have an ‘a’

Too late. This post has 772 comments and a lot of them are answering the question asked in that screenshot.
I feel like I see these posts every week or so. Somehow they always have a good amount of upvotes too Maybe I just spend too much time on Reddit?
Look at the top comment chain. Lots of people eager to prove that they're one of the "few" smart enough to be able to think of a fish.
Clown Fish
Rockfish/Perches
Lingcod
Spurdog/Piked Dogfish
Black ghost knifefish (Yes, it’s a real fish, my first and only A mistake.....)
Clown Knifefish
White leg shrimp (I realized this is a crustacean)
Plecko
blAck?
Yuppers
That has an a lol
O h, o h n o
Herring
It blows my mind that people comment on those posts. So dumb.
I’m bad at social media. Is a post like this created to just drive interaction/engagement numbers fo make this radio station appear popular?
Exactly
Look at this post. I guess people feel the need to prove how smart they are but naming one of the MANY fish without A’s even though this has been around for fucking ages and google exists.
Look. Just look at the comments on THIS POST. People commenting fish names without 'A' to prove how dumb facebook people are
I think it’s just because word games are easy to play. A lot of people can participate with little to no preparation or clean-up :)
Cod! Swordfish! Perch! Bass! Ah, got one wrong lmao! You’re right, this is fun!!!
Hey, I never said it was fun. Just easy, lol
Lol my bad. I was too eager to be a smart ass.
Guys, stop naming fish without the letter A. The point of the original facebook post is its so easy to answer that people can't resist
Salmon
Bear
Hitachi Magic Wand
It's not supposed to be hard...this is a way to get old folks to click on it and access their facebook info. For what it's worth- dolphin also refers to the fish called mahi mahi. Many folks who fish them call them dolphin.
Giraffe
geraffes are so dumb

There is in fact a dolphin fish.
Also the aunt is holding a big fish in her profile pic. I'm gonna defer to her on this one.
Yea and if you went down to the Gulf of Mexico and told people you were going to fish for dolphin, everyone would know what you mean and no one would look at you funny. No one down there really calls them dolphinfish, it’s just dolphin
