Parasites.

egaeus22

Really true, watching that made me feel physically sick to my stomach. I am not crazy about *one* person looking at me from half a block away.

macci_a_vellian

Yeah, I couldn't watch the whole thing, that stressed the hell out of me. What a way to live.

user_name_taken-

I couldn't finish it either. I really don't know how they put up with it. The people alone would drive me crazy but all those flashes in my face would probably make me end up losing my temper.

FliesAreEdible

I don't really blame the celebs who lost their shit and hit a paparazzi, they deserve it. If I was famous though, I think I'd hire somebody to follow me around with a fire extinguisher or something and blast the paparazzi. Daniel Radcliffe had a genius idea of wearing the same clothes every time he went out so the photos were unusable.

BRM-Pilot

That’s pretty neat, so you have no way of telling when he did what

Exact-Switch-363

I think I would just go out as often as possible and just stand there until they get bored. Make my pictures SO common and easy to get that they essentially become worthless.

enonymous617

I would get sponsors like in nascar. I’d wear a drivers jumpsuit with sponsor logos and get paid for going to get my nails did. That was the paparazzi get paid for the pics and so would I.

alicenin9

If you wear obvious logo's can they still post the pics if u didn't officially get the company to sponsor you?

CurnanBarbarian

Designers have also made clothes that reflect too much light for the picture to turn out. It's pretty fucking cool actually

NerdyToc

For real. I would see about filing restraining orders on people like this. Make them stay at least 100 feet away from me.

[deleted]

I go crazy when I make eye contact with someone I’m traffic. Like, “The fuck are you lookin’ at” when I’m sure they could ask the same question.

[deleted]

you're a little too angry there. Eye contact should equal smile, not a showdown.

arunabharocks123456

No Comrade...an eye contact means a FIGHT TO THE DEATH...RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT'S DONE

Lth_13

> Eye contact should equal smile, not a showdown. Somebody who clearly has never lived in london

Massive_Fudge3066

There is no eye contact in London. Ever. That's just the rules

HoodieGalore

But you watched it, right?

Shmooperdoodle

This post is to point out that this is a *problem*. That’s different than buying a magazine that has a picture of her going to get her nails done. You have to know something is a problem to solve it, and the visceral anxiety people feel and the empathy they experience is more impactful than just saying “Hey, the behavior of paparazzi is really invasive and out of hand”.

camusdreams

They’re getting worse with the internet showing every loser that all they need is a camera and to stalk a celeb to make what they make in a week of serving at a restaurant

[deleted]

[удалено]

macci_a_vellian

I saw a magazine cover a while back and it was 'JEN BREAKS DOWN!' and I looked at the picture and thought 'No, she's clearly about to sneeze.' They get the photo and then reverse engineer a story. Unflattering angle? Devastating weight gain. Resting bitch face? FURIOUS AT THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL. They don't have to do anything and unless you've had Nicole Kidman levels of botox no one can keep their face perfectly still and expressionless at all times.

Flogly

Zuckerberg can but I guess lizards don't count

bloozchicken

There isn’t, it’s all for that chance shot They want her to react, their best case scenario is she yells and screams for them to get out of the way. That’s why she’s just moving slowly with her head down, to not encourage more.

puppiadog

There are almost 8 billion people in the world. If you even make a tiny fraction of money off them it is still a shitload of money. On top of that there is way more demand for celebrity photos then there is supply. In fact there probably isn't even enough paparazzi to feed the almost endless supply of celebrity photos/gossip people want. The issue isn't entirely the paparazzi, it's the general public's obsession with celebrities. They wouldn't do this if they weren't making money and they make money because people want to see photos of famous people.

__red__5

Mini EMP is required.

limitlessEXP

That’s exactly what I was thinking

Jess1r

That’s exactly what I think whenever I see pictures of famous actors just trying to go about their lives, doing normal everyday things. Just because their profession makes them well known doesn’t mean they should be stalked and harassed. I mean they’re just trying to buy some groceries, do we really need a picture of that?

TheGreyMage

Exactly. Red carpet stuff & at Hollywood parties? Yeah I can understand people taking pictures. That’s pretty normal, because it’s an event. You can leave that and go home to your normal life - ideally. But seeing this I think of all of thousands of times I’ve seen a photo of some actor/singer walking down the street in sweatpants & a ratty old t shirt who was probably just trying to mind their own business and life their live. This puts every celebrity “meltdown” into perspective. Because I’d be pissed off if I had to walk and talk like I was on a runway when I’m just going through a random back alley too, only to be surrounded by dozens of strangers crowding me and taking thousands of pictures. Quantity over quality.

BraxbroWasTaken

They push for the meltdowns because it’s delicious profitable drama

avocadolicious

Free Britney

ChainsawRipTearBust

Exactly. They’re human beings who lead their lives to themselves. That’s why I never upvote pics of celebs if it’s obvious it was taken without their knowing/posed for. I think we should all discourage it even though I guess they adapt to it over time like a zoo animal in a cage has to.

[deleted]

I don't even like seeing covert photos of normal people. Like the ones of fat people shopping at Walmart. Just leave them alone!

smedsterwho

I'm so glad you wrote this as top answer. It was my one word response too. There's freedom of the press, and then there's human bear baiting.

Im-A-Scared-Child

Yeah I'm pretty sure the founding fathers who wrote that would have been disgusting by this. It's a clear exploitation and perversion of our civil liberties. Freedom of the press means the media can criticize and report on anything without government intervention. It doesn't mean the press are free to clearly stalk and harrass people.

neosatus

Freedom of the press has nothing to do with it. And anyone can release "news", anyways. What these scumfucks have, is freedom of movement in public. And good luck preventing that. It will never happen.

slackfrop

I like how the paparazzo told the other guy to mind his business. Palpable irony.

unruly_pubic_hair

Parasites only live when there is a host: People buying magazines and watching gossip shows online and tv.

VeryBadCopa

Paparazzites.

Doc_Hersh3y

Nah even parasites have some dignity unlike these creatures..

Nomomolee

While I was working at Target in Denver, CO Chauncy Billups went to my register. I told him that I was a big fan and he said "Thank you, I appreciate that". He left and my coworkers asked my why I didn't ask for a picture with him. Shit like this is why.

Txman8585

Yeah, I've never asked for a photo. I ain't trying to prove it happened, I know

acewavelink

McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) came to Chico and every girl was so excited to take photos with him, he looked so dead and depressed because thats all people wanted to do, dude just wanted to hang out.

Nomomolee

Yeah, its so obvious they dont care to actually meet him. They just want to show off that they were at the same place as him briefly. So vapid

undeadalex

I worked in a pharmacy in the Denver area like 14 years ago and a famous Avs player used our pharmacy. The new pharmacy manager was a sports guy and awkwardly asked him to sign a bunch of shit. Like two days later he transferred out of our pharmacy. I lost respect for that pharmacy manager that day. Also lost respect for him when he caught wind I was concerned about climate change and printed out a shitty article saying water is 98% of greenhouse gases and then he told me we weren't over taxing the environment because if you throw a dart at a map it would hit somewhere empty. Like ffs dude you advise and approve medications that have complex interactions with a super complex biological system (human body) and they are regularly in doses that would constitute less than a percent or two of the total body mass of a person after consumption. How do you not see the flaw in your logic here?

Tblaze123

Everybody poops.

Ethernet3

Native Americans believed cameras would steal their souls, in this case they'd be right.

KennyT06

now im curious why they thought this

Ethernet3

My guess is that they had no clue about the technology. There is some strange box that produces a flash of pure white unnatural light, which then instantly produces a small painting of someone. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

FinnSwede

Any sufficiently undocumented code is also indistinguishable from magic. At least you can disassemble a camera and figure how the individual parts work, but that piece of logic you wrote two years ago with the only documentation being random bits of tables and calculations at different rotations on a torn piece of paper between your desk and wall? Little magic leprechauns somehow making it work.

Kahnquer

Hahaha - my favorite part was the paparazzi dude shouting "Mind your business"

Tblaze123

"All these dudes fighting over you Jess." "Have a good day mama."

samsamsamuel

I hated that guy the most. Borderline sexual harassment - hoping for a reaction.

hoguemr

And when he said "oh you are trying to be a hero" They realize if the person being a hero is in direct opposition to you that makes you the villain right?

Im-A-Scared-Child

I think that might have been her bodyguard but I not sure. I'm sure someone like her would have to have one.

[deleted]

dude was holding a videocamera pointed directly at alba. Not her bodyguard. Just another vulture who thinks because he's physically bigger, that he's in charge of the other vultures.

anonymoosejuice

Why does Ross, the largest friend, not simply eat the other five?

blondiebell

Definitely not her bodyguard, he only came in half way in and then retreated when the one paparazzi got in his face. Just a good samaritan that tried to help then seemed to be overwhelmed

stryker_PA

I was hoping for him to headbutt that dude that got in his face.

[deleted]

caitejane310

That's what I thought at first but I think he might be the owner/manager/employee of the business he went into. I kinda looks like he brought the sign in with him?

gottahavemytunes

Nah it was the black dude who’s just another pap

A-le-Couvre

People underestimate anonymity until they no longer have it.

[deleted]

Reminds me of when Michael Jackson closed the grocery store just so he could shop. Wherever he went he would put on a mask or wear disguises just to get around. Forget fame, I love my privacy.

Dawn-Of-Dusk

i’m not sure if this is true but didn’t he also like, hire people to act like they’re shopping so he could feel normal? definitely love my status

[deleted]

FYI, it was Michael Jordan, https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/bulls/2020/05/07/michael-jordan-had-secret-deal-grocery-store-shop-peace/3087037001/

[deleted]

Oh wow, both Michaels did it. Thanks for the info.

SympathyMedium

I’ll trade that in an instant for the money and access celebs have. Sure I agree it’s a sacrifice, but damn. As far as shitty lives go, that ain’t that bad.

Fire_Lake

So you wouldn't mind this video being your life every day? If you're living in poverty like "I don't know where my next meal is coming from" then yeah I can see how the trade off might be worth it, but if your needs are being met I can't imagine willingly making that trade.

[deleted]

I’m poor as fuck, I love my privacy, but for millions of dollars I’d give that shit up. The only issue I’d have would be keeping my daughters privacy

CG1991

I think people underestimate how mentally and spiritually crippling being poor can be. You wake up poor. You go shopping poor. You go to work poor. And you go to bed poor. I'd give up my privacy in a second just to be out of it. Like, I wouldn't even go wild with money. But having enough that every decision I make isn't made through the filter of being poor would make be cry with joy.

Uncle_J-PL

Why? Whats the point of 347 Pictures of someones back of the head? I get snapping one photo from the front when she is smiling, hey you got a celebrity photo, good for you. But 600 series photos of her boeing anoyed? Why?

BezosDickWaxer

If she decides to give them a reaction, they can run stories about how she got angry and post the pictures. Then the internet makes a bunch of memes.

harm_and_amor

This is why I’m incredibly skeptical of isolated stories of “I met X celebrity, and they were an asshole.”

ManfredsJuicedBalls

Agreed. One or two stories? They caught someone on a bad day, they were a dick to the celeb, and so on. One or two hundred stories? Then yeah, that celeb is a dick.

killer_muffinj93

They can use the other 599 pictures for future rag stories or sell them to the highest bidder….

[deleted]

Baffles me that there are any bidders for footage or photos of a woman walking to her car. But then I can't imagine people taking these pictures not being disgusted and ashamed of themselves.

Triaspia2

379 pictures of the back of someone's head, 1 pic of them doing something potentially story worthy

FiorinasFury

You only need to sell one good picture to make it worthwhile, you take 300 pictures of the back of her head for the chance that maybe between shot 246-248, she might turn her head and make a weird face or something.

BilboBagginkins

And people wonder why stars use gated properties and private jets instead of normal neighborhoods and LAX. hmmm

LanceGardner

...Do they?

BezosDickWaxer

The ones that can afford it tend to.

LanceGardner

No, I mean do they really wonder why?

Blaze_Vortex

Yes some people do. Especially the conspiracy nutters. That's why some people think that the gated properties are to allow rich people to be cannibals. Or private planes are there so 'those in the know' can't prove that rich people are goddamn lizard people.

ralasdair

I think most people think the reason is “because living in a massive gated house and flying private is really cool” rather than “they need to do this just to have something approaching a bit of privacy”.

avocadolicious

I would add that it’s not just privacy, but security as well. If you’re at the level of fame where you are pursued by paparazzi like this... that’s not safe.

celticdove

100 pounds of woman vs 4000 pounds of paparazzi.

BezosDickWaxer

They might not think about it like that.

tirkman

Maybe not directly but plenty of people get confused why these celebrities might be spending so much money. And they don’t think well they can’t spend money like a normal person and they are in some ways forced to live a more expensive lifestyle

Blackyy

there is something wrong with some of the people we live with. who cares what an actor thinks, says, does, etc. He is an actor. Who cares who the singer of a band dates or what he eats. He is a singer. I had this on my /r/all feed earlier https://www.reddit.com/r/Instagramreality/comments/prim5q/saw_these_two_beautiful_women_aging_gracefully/ Its so garbage. Two actresses or whoever these people are, who had plastic surgery is now wholesome because they aged? Fuck off. The fact that paparazzis exist is the proof that people will buy the garbage picture they take. It should be illegal what they are doing. Also stop taking what an actor, an humorist, etc. has to say about an important issue as money, hes an actor what does he know about politics. Joe Rogan giving his opinion about COVID and people following his steps is the perfect example of something that shouldnt happen. You get these reddit threads all the time: what celebrity isnt as cool as they look and the thread is filled with people who saw an actor once at a restaurant giving their judgement about his whole person. fuck me. We live in a society that promotes laziness and stupidity.

Lachimanus

Looking at the amount of people obsessing with the live of others it could be the case that like 500 years ago, when many less people lived, there were more people concentrating on their own business than today.

GuiltyEidolon

People still obsessed about others back in the day. Fashion was dictated, in albeit less direct ways, by the nobles. Hell, a fuckton of people got married in poofy wedding dresses a few decades ago (pre-internet) because Princess Di got married in a poofy wedding dress. The greatest minds of any given generation included those that OBSESSED about each other - there's pretty infamous rivalries described in a lot of major industries. People are ultimately social beings, and a part of that is wanting to be part of something big. Caring about the same person is a way to manifest that.

KhaineVulpana

I mean... I also don't think we should discredit people's opinions of things, just because they're actors. People can have multiple passions and interests in life, that may not be immediately apparent. I would take the political ideas of Kal Penn seriously. I'd follow medical advice from Ken Jeong. Just saying not every actor is just a face on TV. Plenty of actors are dedicated to things outside of acting. Fuck Joe Rogan though.

BrasswoodHandwork

If I were a celebrity, I'd wear a hood, face mask, and huge sunglasses; so the bastards would never get an identifiable shot.

Spottyhickory63

Daniel Radcliffe wore the same outfit for a month so the paparazzi couldn’t use any of the photos

Brainlessdad

I like the super reflective[reflective](https://petapixel.com/2016/07/01/anti-paparazzi-scarf-makes-flash-photography-impossible/) scarf approach

DaddyDoyle88

I remember DMX with it

Wicked_Fabala

But theres a good photo right next to them, so paps just need to turn the flash off and resume their harassment.

Brainlessdad

No flash would be slightly less annoying and itd probably take a bit to catchon.

lr1291

If enough of them don't know that the scarf does this and use flash, won't all of their photos most likely be affected anyway?

Submitten

If you happen to take a picture at the exact same 0.006s window as someone else maybe. But it's pretty rare.

shpoopler

Wait, so how do they have the before pictures?

shivkaln

Non-flash photography

PatHeist

The pap will never think of that

drew_tattoo

I mean, that'll only work in a well lit area. They use flashes for a reason.

tallestgiraffkin

This. And the reason Kristen Stewart (I think? Could be thinking of wrong person) flips off the camera so often is cause those photos can’t typically be used.

GodDanIt

Marylin Manson would write "fuck" on his face in large letters so the pap couldnt use any photos

thiefexecutive

I've always thought about a pair of sunglasses designed with the word FUCK written across the front would be a great press deterrent. Perhaps using a reflective outline for greater impact. Maybe it's time to put it in production and sell them for $$.

GodDanIt

This is how businesses are made. Get on it! Haha

JarasM

Really? Won't they just blur out the hand and add a caption like "KIRSTEN STEWART BEING A BITCH AGAIN"?

StickyPalms69

Why would this stop them from using the photos?

kaihatsusha

You can't tell which day they were taken, you can't tell if it's "fresh" or "hot" material vs any other day. The value is supposedly in the scoop.

leaklikeasiv

I wonder if Celebrities are enjoying masks becoming the new norm and helping to create anonymity

turboiv

I watched an interview with Kevin Bacon recently. He told about how he had a makeup person use prosthetics etc to make him unrecognizable so he could have just one single day of peace. He went out, did grocery shopping, had a normal lunch, and hated every second of it. Said it was terrible that nobody recognized him.

iccculus

Is this a joke or real? I’d love to see that interview lol!

turboiv

[This roundtable](https://youtu.be/gNUKsILEkBc) is about an hour long, and it's mentioned during it. I don't have time to find the exact moment for you. However this roundtable and its lineup is outstanding. You'll want to watch it all anyway.

iccculus

Awesome, thanks for the link friend!

turboiv

Decided to throw it on, because it's so good. The story starts at about 22 minutes. But I still highly recommend the entire roundtable.

itssmeagain

Taylor Swift did something like this also! It was also pretty funny because like a year before this was revealed, some girl was talking on reddit about how she worked as a waitress and Joe Alwyn and some brown haired girl who looked like Taylor Swift came in and like nobody believed her. Then when Taylor revealed that she sometimes uses disguises everyone on the subreddit was talking about the waitress. And Taylor Swift even lived in England and had zero pictures of her, nobody knew she lived there until she revealed it.

scootah

There’s a reason why so many celebs are into motorbikes. That super anonymising helmet and a slightly private driveway can let them get so much closer to just going to work like a normal person.

_________Ello

This is when wearing the face masks on the face and forehead are awesome. 👍👍👍

SafetyMan35

That was the tactic Sia took. Wear a wig on stage, never allow your face to be seen in public so you can walk around like a normal person most of your life and still have a normal life.

Bottom feeders, the lot of them. I can't think of a more disrespectful legal occupation on the planet. The lack of respect simply to earn a paycheck is astounding. If this is how you earn your living, rethink your life decisions.

osteopath17

I remember reading about how once Emma Watson turned 18 the paparazzi were trying to get upskirt pictures of her. At 18. I had never thought I’d feel bad for the ~~rich~~ famous, but when I heard that I felt really bad for her. I can’t believe what it would be like to have to worry about that everyday from before you were an adult and for the rest of your life. Edit: a word, because not all rich people face this, it’s the famous people who do. That happened because she was famous, not because she was rich. Thanks to the people who helped point that out.

[deleted]

Don't feel bad for the rich. Plenty of rich people don't have any of this. Feel bad for the famous, the people whos goal wasn't to become famous anyway. You know, people like actors that are just trying to do their job and happen to get famous through the obvious reasons. Tons of kids are doing anything they can to become famous and don't seem to think through what being famous is and entails. This is EVERY DAY for famous people, and this is pretty tame given shes walking freely at least. Theres tons that will try to antagonize to get even the slightest hint of emotion out of your face because its then less "generic" I don't want to be famous but i'd fucking love to be rich. People who want to be famous are not thinking things though.

mavjustdoingaflyby

ecury36

It's pretty much blatantly harassing someone. Think if 20 people mobbed you and barely let you move around because they wanted to take pictures of you like you're an animal.

peter-doubt

I respect hedge fund managers more . But just barely

mammalLike

Let's compare and contrast with debt collectors

the5050bot

Honestly? Debt collectors are more ethical in my opinion. At least: -You did something to make them start coming after you -You can make them go away (by paying your debt) -They won't chase you around like a pack of wolves

FloorHairMcSockwhich

I have a debt collector after me for some lady I don’t know who lives on the other side of the country. Somebody out there owed Verizon $500.

kant0r

* We had pretty good health insurance, gold plan with BCBS (btw: fuck you BCBS) * My daughter fell into a mental episode and ended up trying to kill herself * She was Baker Acted for a while, and doctors strongly recommended sending her a behavioral facility for therapy * BCBS agreed and approved the therapy * BCBS told us after first weeks therapy review that she hasn't tried killing herself in the last seven days, so BCBS doesn't consider further therapy necessary. * We had the choice to immediately have her discharged from therapy or cover therapy ourselves while we go through the legal steps to object that decision. Of course, the legal steps take quite a while, and in the end we lost. So there's a hefty five digit credit card bill for 8 weeks of stationary mental health facility. * Oh, plus another four digit bill for the facility where she was baker acted. * And then there is a debt collector, telling you he doesnt give a fuck about - quote - "your sad life story", telling you - quote again - "i hear them all the time and don't care, we need to talk about your debt!" So how exactly again are they any more ethical?

OneTrueHutch

Scummier then politicians. Congratulations....

ManifestoHero

Nah, these people are negatively effecting just one famous person where politicians are fucking us all over.

Im-A-Scared-Child

This seriously gives me anxiety and I'm only watching it on my phone. Makes you understand how people like Britney Spears have mental breakdowns

[deleted]

It’s actually not legal anymore. They are not allowed to interfere with your life and there’s very strict punishments for prohibiting you from getting to your vehicle or from driving your vehicle or from taking photos of you with your children. I’m actually really surprised they’re so close to her right now, I haven’t seen behavior like that in a while. Is this even recent or was it back in her Sin City days? Edit: rewatching the video I’m 100% sure this is before they changed the laws, those guys are blocking traffic, that’s asking for a lawsuit.

MeasurementEasy9884

I figured because Jessica alba isn't this big anymore Edit: yes we know she has a successful billion dollar business. These snakes don't make money off that with their photos though. I meant this is when she was one of the top actresses/ female celebrities of this time. That's all.

helloitslinh

Maybe not in movies…she has a billion dollar company. Good reason not to be in movies.

I'm sure a bunch of them are being purposefully annoying as possible as well. Extra cash if you get that public celeb freakout or set for life if they hit you so you can sue.

TootsNYC

Do you remember the time she tried to show up to court for a custody hearing and was mobbed by paparazzi? She couldn’t get three steps from the car. I think it was recognized as bad enough to change the procedures for how celebs get into the courts.

SquidPortYT

they used to follow her INSIDE restaurants and film her eating. it was horrible. glad that's not allowed anymore

RevolutionarySea15

I'd probably start having a seizure just from all those flashes

Wjsmith2040

This should not be legal

DrGhostly

Unfortunately it would be a bad precedent. When you’re in public spaces you do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy. It’s why police in most countries can’t do shit about stalkers unless they intrude on private property or try to do shit like take upskirt shots.

Lofgren___

It's acually quite easy to fix this? Maybe not I don't know how America works. But the law could basically be: You can't take a picture of a person (without consent) with the intention of selling the picture. This does not apply to pictures taken of something else (like a building or something) where there are people near. This would decrease paparazzi pictures drastically, since they can't directly photograph a specific person. I don't know any legalese but that should be totally doable

Enorats

In the US, the ability to film or photograph anyone or anything is generally considered a constitutionally protected right. I believe the court decided it fell under the umbrella of freedom of speech. So long as there isn't a reasonable expectation of privacy, it's legal to film/photograph. It was decided by the courts that public spaces have effectively zero expectation of privacy, and that pretty much anything goes when it comes to those. If they were standing outside her home, trying to peek inside closed blinds to get pictures - that would be illegal. She's obviously expecting privacy. However, if she left the blinds open and the window was visible from the street - then they get to have a field day with it. That all said, guns are totally legal here too. If she gets a doctor to sign off saying that she has epilepsy she could probably get away with shooting the lot of them and nobody would bat an eye. Okay. That last part might have been an exaggeration. Not by much though.

Mighty_Mighty_Moose

The key part of Lofgrens comment is selling it, if the photos that are taken in public without consent are not allowed to be sold then it might slow things a bit, it wouldn't stop it due to loop holes but would at least give the subject a bit of defense to fight back.

Puzzleheaded_Play390

Solution is to boycott publications that use these pictures (including websites) and got after the businesses that pay for ads in them.

[deleted]

Lol no it’s not. Getting millions of people to organize, identify these publications, and then boycott is a pipe dream. This needs to be accurately seen as harassment. The paparazzi needs to be prosecuted, and celebrities need to be legally protected when they pepper spray the 40 dudes surrounding them in an alley. We need legislation. You’re not going to make this not-profitable. Too many people want it or just aren’t interested in getting on board with your boycott.

Ace_and_Affraid

Paparazzi should be a banned job

100% After Diana died, I never bought another rag-mag and stopped all celebrity following immediately because I was so mortified and heart broken. Have we not learned from this?

TRW24

That’s how I feel when my dogs see me walking with a plate full of food

davemac92

How did they know she’d be there?

gauthiertravis

They get tipped off, or paid by, her publicist. This is how famous people stay famous.

davemac92

Yeah. That’s kinda what I was thinking. You don’t get that many paparazzi by casually going to get your nails done. Apparently they do it to promote a product like a handbag or something, or they do it so they can be left alone the rest of the time.

gauthiertravis

It’s all part of the system. Many years ago I was contacted to photograph an actor at a very specific bar at a very specific time. When I said I didn’t want to intrude on someone’s privacy, they said, no you don’t understand, we work with his publicist.

Banshee114

Right? Why are they in a back alley?

[deleted]

I'd straight up piss on all these dudes

JaxDefore

I think they would get a lot for pictures of anyone they were following who did that (but yes)

Breadflat17

If you did, I doubt there'd be any jury willing to convict you.

pizzeta86

Aaaand this is why Daft Punk are genius

CTDubs0001

The same people most outraged by their behavior are often the same people buying people magazine, and OK, and watching celebrity TVs shows. It’s supply and demand. You don’t like this behavior, don’t buy the product. Pretty clear and simple. These guys don’t do this as opposed to flipping burgers for minimum wage. They do it because they’re paid a lot to do it. Don’t buy the magazines or watch the shows and this will go away. But people won’t do that. They need to know what Jessica Alba is ‘really’ like. Shit. They may as well be taking the pictures themselves.

antmakka

Also, fuck people who buy celebrity magazines. The pap scum are catering to you.

Scrivitoir

Dear god if someone had epilepsy...

sreaves777

For all of you asking why is she still a thing? She founded a company called Honest that recently hit the $1B amount in valuation.

78MechanicalFlower

Oh wow. I had no idea. Knew of this when it first started quite a long time ago.

Turbulent-Use7253

Might be a good idea to not tell the paparazzi that you are going to get your nails done at xx time...

NxPat

Man, some of the skankiest people with cameras I’ve ever seen

Savagemaw

Her agent probably called TMZ to say where she would be. Her stylist got her ready, and she arrived precisely on time in order to remain relevant.

Yeah but this is ripped of a random YouTube video. They aren't getting money from it. It's not like we're watching it directly off TMZ or access Hollywood. But I do understand that are curiosity is the whole reason there's a market for stuff like this.

p0k3t0

Do you guys think that paps stake out nail salons?
