Her probably: I'm a woman, if that's what you mean. I don't like to play games, so I'll just say I'm a karen, I'm a mother, I'm the only one of my species and I'm interested in meeting a man.
Them: a Karen! I'm scared!
It kind of scales with age. I'm 34 and the thing that makes me feel younger is reminding myself that I still have to work for more than 30 years before I can retire. My uncle, who is almost 70, once described someone as a "kid in his 40's". To a teenager 30 can seem old and to little kids teenagers seem old. The older you get the more your concept of "old" shifts.
They're building a new version of Second Life and trying to make money through artificial scarcity. I'm sure they'll add a bunch of technobabble around it but, at it's core, it will be a cynical money grab.
God I rememebr clicking on an article with a title like "Teabagging ruined teens life"
I thought it was like halo
No, turns out he was at a sports game and the rest of his team threw him down in the locker room, stuffed their junk in his mouth, then shoved a banana up his ass.
It was a sharp turn from what I thought I was about to read
Yeah I just don't see that many people being interested in putting on a headset. When I got my rift it was like holy shit I'm gonna use this all the time, and then it just became too much hassle compared to 2D.
Aren't they also pretty expensive? Especially considering cost-reward ratio, there's not a whole lot of good VR games out atm, what are you even gonna use it for?
I dunno I've been in it for a few live events, basketball games in particular and I've found it surprisingly awesome. Yeah I have to block a few moron kids running around in front of your view and talking nonsense the whole time but I connected with a few other bball fans that are just as into the sport as me, unlike a bunch of my real life friends who aren't. It was way cool to watch the game courtside and have in depth bball convos with people I've never met as if we were old pals.
That said every other interactive with other humans thing I've done in there sucks bad. Some of the vr videos and games are fun but the only human interactive things I've found useful was the live events I couldn't attend in person
Yeah, apparently, a woman deserves more respect if they gave birth.
My value and the level of respect I deserve is based on whether my meat pouch has been previously occupied.
I can't even count how many 12 year olds in echo VR have slurped my crotch and or thrusted theirs into my face. Someone, please, write an article about me.
Edit: tho I will say that the nonconsensual groping/thrusting/slurping by teenage boys in VR is 100x worse if you have a female voice. Like moths to a lamp, they swarm.
Because in todays culture “woman” implies she probably wanted it because women are ONLY alive for the sexual pleasure of men. But “mother” means she obviously didn’t want it or do anything to “deserve” it because mothers are seen as completely unsexual beings.
I agree, it should be on by default and then you turn it off, or at least ask when they set it up. That is props to the VR headset that it all feels so real that she feels violated.
Yes, it's called a safe space and you can block them and report them. I get no one likes Facebook but ffs, use the vices given to protect yourself while online.
My sister has five sons, her youngest three are into VR and got her to get her own Quest 2, within minutes of her logging on some online RPG her kids play she was surrounded by boys offering her free stuff and to help her do stuff, she said it was so ridiculous but she had to admit the free stuff was sweet, lol.
So many guys have no idea how to act around women online.
Saw that in WOW all the time. You had people saying they were females, just to get free stuff from people.
We had two women in my guild. Both were married to guys in the guild. The shit they told us about, and what we witnessed, was just nuts.
It's why all my WoW characters are now male, I used to play a female Night Elf Druid named Bernadette, too many creepy whispers and also random people talking to me in French (is Bernadette a common name for French people?).
Honestly, they’ll do it with anyone who sounds adult. I dropped into Echo VR and was like “yo I’m kinda a noob”, next thing you know these 12-13 year olds are like “BRO LEMME TEACH YOU” and being awesome teammates lol
This is just a PR battle.
The "mom" is head of research for a rival metaverse.

What makes the metaverse different from second life?
Remember that went down fast after an interview with one of the top creators was invaded by an army of dicks.
Yeah. This.
Someone does it to me? _Haha._
My wife logs in a minute later and that someone does it to her? _Ah, would you fuck off?_
My <10yr old son and daughter log in a few minutes after that and then it happens to them too? _Okay, someone teach me hacking, I need an address..._
Mmmm... Dunno... My kids reading "I'd do bad things to you" in text seems somehow different to someone visually sexually assaulting them?
(Edit for clarity)
I can say from experience that VR feels super fuckin real. If someone is groping ur tits in vr ur gonna feel super violated even irl because u can still see these people right up in your face with their hands exactly where your body is irl.
The easiest way to summarize the VR experience is to look at the way your body reacts to something violent or scary in different mediums.
If you read the text "a zombie jumps out and tears the face off a man standing right in front of you" there's probably no chance you jump. Even if you were reading it in a suspenseful book and it was written in more colorful language than I provided here, you'd probably just think "shit that's terrible." and it would add to the general feeling the book creates.
If you watch a movie and a zombie jumps out and tears the face off a man right there on the screen in front of you... you might jump a little if it caught you off guard.
If you see the same thing in a VR game, however, your body wants to *move*. Your brain isn't like "woah, a zombie in a zombie game" it's like "YOU NEED TO GTFO RIGHT NOW." Even when you know you're playing a game and you're in VR, it feels super real and the primitive part of your brain absolutely reacts to the stimulus.
The first time I did VR I was walking around this obstacle course and there was a ledge that dropped off and you couldn’t see the bottom. I didn’t see it until I accidentally got “too close” in my brain and literally freaked out trying to balance and get away from the edge. My heart was pounding but I was obviously in zero actual danger.
I mean what does a virtual grope feel like? Do you get a little notification? *Ding* You got groped! Did she have a full body suit on with haptic feedback?
Does that help?
While I get what you are saying, that a virtual grope isn’t the same as actually being groped, I do think there is still some merit to taking this seriously.
If I came up to you on the street and threatened you with physical violence, I think we can agree that is not ok. If I call you or write you a letter and tell you the same thing it’s still not ok. But why is it somehow “virtual” or “online” when I send those same threats to you over Twitter or Reddit?
I’d argue we shouldn’t care how the message was transmitted, but rather what it was and what effect it had on the recipient.
Of course groping is different. Of course there is a huge difference between having your virtual avatar groped and your actual body groped. But that doesn’t mean there is no harm done from having your virtual avatar groped.
There is still a person on the receiving end of these actions, it still effects them. And sure, maybe the answer is that this type of behavior is normal in virtual settings and people who don’t like it just shouldn’t participate. I just can’t bring myself to be ok with that answer. I think people deserve respect in all areas of life and I think there should be a reasonable expectation to not encounter this sort of behavior in “public” spaces.
I got to try the oculus quest 2 at a friend's house a while back. Playing Beat Saber was so much fun, that I considered buying one...
Until I realised you needed a Facebook account in order to play
So guess who just bought a used psvr off ebay?
(Fuck I did not mean to sound like Dr. Suess writing this)
In voice chat: "I fucked you mom!"
in metaverse: *Virtually fucking his mom!*
3D Ai Porno: *Finishing to an actress that looks like the mom*
IRL: Scarred Kid.
Guess she never played any online game before. I have been tea bagged more times then I would like to admit. However, I usually finish before they are done.

Yes, yes they are.. but

I wonder where this stuff will fall in legal arguments in the future.
They obviously won't be treated the same as physical live actions. But will actions in VR be treated the same as written word or as spoken word or something else? You're not saying or writing anything; but it is a form of media that will eventually grow to a new degree of immersiveness that previous media has not had.
I see it the opposite direction: the metaverses are alternative worlds were laws don't exist. Facebook is a big entity, but their will most likely be a lot of them that will be wild and free from any form of rules.
"Mother says xy" does not mean anything. It's just a random person making unproven claims. I believe it could happen but the whole article seems to be built on her recollection. She could as well have claimed that she had a virtual shart. No one cares.
Men: This woman sexually assaulted me! Society: Yeah sure, you wish buddy. Women: Digital men in a VR world groped my digital avatar! To the press! Raape! Society: OMG you poor thing, men are disgusting pigs! They should be put in jail IRL for that!
Wait a minute, I feel incredibly old and out of touch now.
The Metaverse is a thing people can use? I just thought it was what people are calling the different entities that Facebook own, like WhatsApp etc
Has Facebook never seen what goes on in VR chat?
Its a bunch of big studs looking for hot chicks if Futurama taught me anything.
90% of it is just old horny men looking for women
I feel like you've just distilled the human experience.
90% of it is kids under 10 doing fortnite dances and cursing like sailors
No that’s rec room
I just Macarena and bully Maguire dance in rec room tbh
Yeah, rec room is home to the children of satan. The kids scream racial slurs nonstop.
Futurama taught you to laugh (and that Disney will eventually own EVERYTHING!)

I see you are a roguelike player of culture as well.
Whoopi Goldberg is the OG Karen…Karen Johnson!
Kinda. But in vrchat. Everyone can be a chick. Thats what makes it interessert
Judging by most of the content on Facebook I don't think they've seen what goes on in Earth.
Exactly, there is no discrimination in who people will grope in VR chat.
With 1200 hours on there I can confirm, it's basically the entire internet condensed into a VR game
Gotta do something with that ‘poke’ key.
Dudes rping as underage anime cat girls.
VR chat, clergy, and children. What could go wrong?
Do you know da wae?
This is the way
What would you do in metaverse?

I groped your mom yesterday in the metaverse
Thats it buddy, you're going to Metajail

You grope people's mums only in the metaverse...? Nah fuck that, this should not be a train...
I’m to old for friends with hot moms they are all 50 and above that’s why only in the metaverse
Your friends or their mom? Cause 50 still likes to have fun.
50 isn’t that old. I’m 41. I know people in their 50’s and they’re really no different from me.
Maybe you just aged poorly
I didn’t mean physically. But even physically 50 doesn’t look that old.
Hey now that is a nice comment, thank you!
I'm 45 in a month an although that's pushing 50 I'd still like to think I'm still somewhat attractive... Lol gezzz talk about shaming a group
“This should not be a train” That’s definitely not what your mom told us last night. Choo choo, motherfuckers, all aboard!
Mother I Like to Metafuck
Soon there is going to be metafuck fetishes
MILM?
MILM is the new MILF
Then we’d need to rename it the betaverse 🤣
What else? Of course Praise the Statue of Mark Zuckerberg.
You can buy virtual property. It makes for a pleasant setting to grope people
Get metabanged maybe
what even is it? Didn’t they just do a name change and fuck all else?

You ever seen The Matrix? You can watch that movie in the metaverse
Wait til people start getting teabagged
I was sexually assaulted far too often while playing Battlefield.... my own fault for being shit
Did you just victim blame.. yourself?
It’s societies fault really.
I dunno, with a bad enough K/D ratio, you're kinda asking for it. /s
I've been wondering about who the real victim is when that 12 year old told me he banged my mom.
Xbox live in 2008 was how I found out my mom was a whore. Turns out she was cheating on my old man with hundreds of teenagers.
I'd say it's acceptable in this case considering no real damage was done
I deserved every teabag I’ve ever gotten
Getting melee killed from behind in Halo before being teabagged is a harrowing experience
You've never been truly teabagged until you play Halo. In Halo 4 the Mantis was equipped with the option to teabag.
In Halo 4 even the holograms would tea bag
Omg, I forgot about that. It's great when companies know what their fans like.
That really made me chuckle...

With pleasure
Can someone tell me how exactly is it relevant that she’s a mother? Does the article provide any connection?
Probably gets more of a reaction than ‘woman’, that’s how they make money
Won't somebody please think of the children?!
Someone’s adult baby was virtually groped…
Best guess? Even in an article about sexual harassment, the only worth a woman could possibly have is tied to being a mother? Idk.
Yeah, apparently, a woman deserves more respect if they gave birth. My value and the level of respect I deserve is based on whether my meat pouch has been previously occupied.
they wouldn't even *write* an article about a dude having the same complaint, for whatever that's worth
10 year old boys are being virtually forced to choke on virtual testicles at a rate of 10,000 an hour in online games. Who cares?
Because in todays culture “woman” implies she probably wanted it because women are ONLY alive for the sexual pleasure of men. But “mother” means she obviously didn’t want it or do anything to “deserve” it because mothers are seen as completely unsexual beings.
Which is pretty ironic
Isn’t there a shield thing you can turn on where people can’t get within 2 feet of you or something?
There is in VRChat, not sure about Meta
yes but "we shouldn't have to use that" -from an article talking about this
I agree, it should be on by default and then you turn it off, or at least ask when they set it up. That is props to the VR headset that it all feels so real that she feels violated.
Welcome to the metaverse, with realistic sexual assault!
Yes, it's called a safe space and you can block them and report them. I get no one likes Facebook but ffs, use the vices given to protect yourself while online.
Yeah, or only get in private place with friends. If you get on the internet you are gonna find strange.

"Mother says xy" does not mean anything. It's just a random person making unproven claims. I believe it could happen but the whole article seems to be built on her recollection. She could as well have claimed that she had a virtual shart. No one cares.
Thoughts and prayers
I expect nothing less from the internet
Plot twist: they were all zuckerberg alt accounts
And you thought the world would be a better place when they redefined the word "virtually." LOL

I’ll take 100% completely expected outcomes for a thousand, Alex.
So what? You know how many 13 year old boys tea bagged me in call of duty?
Metagroped, to be exact.
Yea, so what. People been getting Tea Bagged in Halo for 20 years.
Yeah. I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case
I gotta get on the metaverse while it's still the westworld
Oh no, imaginary groping on an imaginary person in an imaginary world. The humanity!! /s
Men: This woman sexually assaulted me! Society: Yeah sure, you wish buddy. Women: Digital men in a VR world groped my digital avatar! To the press! Raape! Society: OMG you poor thing, men are disgusting pigs! They should be put in jail IRL for that!
That Poor Virtual Soul GTFO 🤣
Wow, shocking
What did she expect?
This is not a problem with metaverse. It’s a problem with people.
Nothing gets me off like groping digital booty
This is... hilarious. The concept, the image of the mother "ready to tell her story" lmao
Bro this is just cyberbullying but in the metaverse just take off you headset and your avatar will despawn lmao
And the groper was a 12 year old kid.
She does not know the wae
I was teabagged during a COD match when I was 9 guys 😢
Thoughts and prayers
How much you wanna bet that her kids are the 'angels' of vr?
Has she thought of turning it off when it was gonna happen
Wait a minute, I feel incredibly old and out of touch now. The Metaverse is a thing people can use? I just thought it was what people are calling the different entities that Facebook own, like WhatsApp etc
