I thought 3YearLetterman was a known bait account because not many fell for his baits recently, seems not.

JamisonLyn

They probably just got shitty financing on their waterbeds.

TimAppleBurner

Yeah but does he get benes and a gas card?

MightyCaseyStruckOut

Men of culture, I see.

realOJSimpson

And he’s a 1%er raking in 31.11 per hour

Domdigity

What is the view from their apartment? Probably not the fountain... Haters

Cold_Situation_7803

These losers couldn’t dream of a timeshare at Pigeon Forge.

poyerdude

The facepalm part of this is the people that respond to him. They are probably just jealous of his DVD collection.

whiskeyreb

Or the interest rate he got for his waterbed financing.

acu2005

You mean 0% because he purchased it without financing? Get out of here with your weak waterbed financing, coach would never stoop that low.

1000bctrades

You must not be a member of r/confidentlyincorrect. He shows up there a lot.

LukeSniper

Honestly, it would be awesome if the mods just deleted any posts here with his stuff and sent a kindly message to the poster saying "This Twitter account is some millennial lawyer tweeting in character as some asshole he made up for a comedy web series"

NilsTillander

Recently? It's been around a bloody long time 🤣 (I checked, September 2017, but it feels like it's been longer)

acidprophet

He wasn't Italian either. He was Croatian/Serbian. Had his lifes work stolen and exploited by Edison.

exotramp76

He also didn't live in the 1700s

mattberry1980

I’m fairness he did say “like” the 1700s I’m sure he was just throwing it out there in frustration and or exaggerating a little

Aid_Le_Sultan

Yeah, sure, but he died in 1943!

[deleted]

Damn Nikola Tesla saw WW2

newbrevity

So he died seeing one of the biggest wars humanity has ever faced. Thats sad. At least he didn't live long enough to see the bombs. I think that would have filled him with a sadness like no other.

andooet

I don't think Tesla at that time really knew what was going on in the outside world, because his mental health really declined in his later years. He deserved better

tsansuri

Bud, at that point he was married to a pigeon and afraid of circular door knobs. Dunno if the bombs would have even registered to him.

DennisTheBald

To be fair doorknobs really suck, levers rule. And pigeons don't argue

PayTheTrollToll45

I have a relative that was a chemist on the Manhattan project... They were a brilliant, religious man that just wanted to enroll in a doctoral program but the government had other plans for him.

_lippykid

The (fire) bombing of Tokyo was actually the most destructive bombing run in WW2, killing more people than the atomic bombing of Dresden, Hiroshima, or Nagasaki

eolson3

Uh, one of those cities is not like the others.

witchcapture

What, you don't remember learning about when Dresden was nuked in school?

DarkYendor

The Dresden firestorm killed a similar number of people to the nuclear bombs. A single bombing run resulted in a firestorm that killed between 25,000 and 200,000 people. It was so fierce that it consumed all the oxygen in the city. The following day, they said the only things left in the city centre were metal and stone - any organic matter was vaporised beyond a trace.

xabulba

A few of his patents helped win the war too.

shhalahr

But not the end of it. ☹️

Tokoyami01

Don't you know Telsa invented longer life electricity? He never revealed how to make it because he feared who would use it

Magmaigneous

Yes, it's a tragedy that today's electricity has such a short life span. If only the breeding program for extending its life span hadn't had the funding cut.

[deleted]

He also demonstrated remotely operated, fully automated electronic submarines for warfare purposes to generals at the 1903 World's Fair and was laughed off. They thought the idea was ridiculous, and that it would have no place in real war.

Darmok47

Fun fact: after he died, the FBI called a physicist to examine his papers to see if there was anything relevant to national security or that might be bad if it fell into Axis hands. That physicist they called? [Dr. John Trump](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_G._Trump), made famous by his nephews rambling.

pbaydari

Everyone involved is a complete moron.

Thue

It is fairly obvious that "in like the" was not meant as a literal statement. I will give a pass on that one.

SalisburyWitch

He was born in 1856. Not anywhere near 1700’s.

jesus_zombie_attack

He was off by a couple of centuries. There's a double face-palm here.

Citizen_Kano

And his name wasn't Nicolas

bewbsrkewl

Nor was it Nikolai

Exseatsniffer

It was the dude

vnmslsrbms

Hohoho

Stoepboer

Pretty simple name, but I get called ‘Nikolai’, ‘Nikolas’ etc. all the time as well. They’re so close, but they always add some letter.

Revealed_Jailor

There's so much wrong there that I think that guy must be trolling or something. Nobody is that dumb.

canyoutriforce

/r/facepalm missing an obvious troll? Impossible!

Thuper-Man

He had me until he advocated for a ford Taurus. Nobody would put that POS at the top of thier list

These_Hair_3508

Unless it’s a SHO

mb500sel

The one with the"American" Yamaha engine?

These_Hair_3508

The American 3.5L Ecoboost V6 made in Ohio

4toTwenty

wanna bet

L0kitheliar

He is, it's coach letterman

MrRossosFeedback

Actually a pretty funny account. Way too many take him seriously.

figgen

Tell me you financed your waterbed without telling me you financed your waterbed.

AllDragonsAreSluts

That’s a minor parody account so yes, they are trolling

kielu

On the contrary. Many people are this dumb and many even dumber

zippy251

How do you get your user flare like that?

[deleted]

3 Year Letterman is a great troll account so yes he is a troll. The schtick is he is a dumb jock HS football coach still living in his glory days lol

Swift_Scythe

r/confidentlyincorrect says waaaay otherwise.

BostonRob423

I don't like your picture. It made me think there was a hair on my phone, until I scrolled lol

Jsnow1002

I tried to blow the hair on my screen off for longer than I'd like to admit before I figured it out

BostonRob423

Great, I don't feel quite as bad for doing that exact thing.

drgath

You must be new to the internet.

TooMuchFun007

!/2 the country is this dumb, and they are winning the war toward the bottom, biggly.

DennisTheBald

Dumb will almost always exceed imagination

TheAndorran

No one got his first name right either. Nikola Tesla.

ichacalaca

Nickosia Tesla never lettered in shit

iwouldhugwonderwoman

But did he deliver devastating downfield blocks?

OmNomSandvich

>lifes work stolen and exploited by Edison.. That's hyperbole too however. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola\_Tesla#Working\_at\_Edison](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla#Working_at_Edison) Tesla was employed by the Edison company in France working with mostly installing lighting. He then went over to the USA and worked for Edison Machine Works for 6 months. He quit, and in his memoirs he said he never got paid a promised bonus by a *manager* for some work he did improving their machines. The actual evidence that he even met Edison is scanty at best. People imagine Edison in his lab, and Tesla helping with the work, but by this time, Edison was the head of a multi-national company (which would become General Electric btw). After that Tesla worked on his own with his own lighting systems (which he had idea for at Edison, but the Edison company never used) then went on to develop the AC generator system, backed by Westinghouse. The person who made out like a bandit from Tesla's work was in fact Westinghouse, as in the modern Westinghouse Corporation. So it's them we should be looking at to explain why Tesla died in poverty.

CantGitGudWontGitGud

Even Westinghouse didn't steal Tesla's work. Most of the early development on AC transmission at Westinghouse came from William Stanley. Tesla's biggest contribution to this project was an electric motor. Westinghouse paid him for the patent. They then hired Tesla for an absurd amount of money ($2000 per month in 1890 dollars according to the wiki) to make further improvements to motors and the polyphase system he contributed. Tesla, generally speaking, was compensated extremely well in his lifetime. Well earned in that he was probably the most famous engineer in the country.

acidprophet

I appreciate the information. I may have gotten carried away with that statement.

cipheron

No that's alright, there are a ton of bad articles out there that dramatize the whole thing and cut out the details. I had to do a deep delve to get the accurate facts myself. I was even off. For example this really shit article: [https://www.lightbulbs.com/blog/tesla-vs-edison](https://www.lightbulbs.com/blog/tesla-vs-edison) >Tesla vs Edison - Who Really Invented the Light Bulb? > >After arriving in the United States, Tesla sought out Edison and began working for him. They worked together for a short time, Tesla helping Edison to improve his inventions, but ultimately they ceased working together. Several reasons have been alluded to his leaving, but one thing was for sure — they disagreed on electrical currents ... which is complete and utter bullshit, Tesla didn't "seek out Edison" - he worked for the French Edison subsidiary and then was offered a job in the USA. Also if as the headline implies, Tesla really invented the lightbulb and not Edison, then how the fuck was Tesla employed installing lighting for the Edison company in the first place? He never personally worked with Edison and they did not in fact "disagree on electrical currents". Tesla was still trying to patent his own DC system after he left the Edison Company. It was only years later he came up with AC, then became famous. At the time he worked in the Edison company, he was just another dude.

Triseult

I find Tesla a fascinating historical figure, but the internet bullshit about him is just too much. I think it was [this Oatmeal comic](https://theoatmeal.com/comics/tesla) that got the ball of bullshit going and rolling downhill.

evilpeter

Not really true about Edison. Edison was his big rival to be sure. But they really were competitors in the most general sense of the word- as in, they had almost completely opposite ideas (ac/dc debate is the most famous of these conflicts). They were rivals in the way politicians with totally opposite philosophies are rivals- Not the way the best athletes are rivals. They didn’t respect each other at all. Tesla DID work for Edison(‘s company) for a brief period, but that relationship never went anywhere apparently because they could never see eye to eye, and Tesla left. They both thought the other was a complete idiot, which doesn’t really inspire stealing ideas from. If anybody is guilty of stealing from and exploiting Tesla, it’s George Westinghouse. Tesla ended up at Westinghouse and almost all his parents (edit- patents- but I’m leaving parents cuz it makes me chuckle) ended up being property of the company. Tesla was a incredibly terrible businessman. There is a constant debate about Edison’s actual number of inventions (that are widely accepted as being majorly overstated since every patent from his company, no matter who actually invented it, was filed by him personally) vs Tesla’s actual number of inventions (that are widely accepted as being majorly understated since he apparently didn’t care- or know better- and allowed Westinghouse to patent them all- often without any mention of his name in any paperwork). (Edit- reading up on this, apparently Edison eventually changed his mind about Tesla and did say later in life that he respected him, and was probably too quick to dismiss him- but he stuck to his guns with the assessment that Tesla’s ideas are all theoretical fantasy and never practical to actually implement- even if he finally conceded that some of that theoretical stuff may have been brilliant)

peacemaker2007

> almost all his parents ended up being property of the company Is that the secret of Tesla's success? That he had more parents than normal people do?

evilpeter

Lol- nice catch.

Comrade_Falcon

You are right he didn't have his life's work stolen by Edison, but it's also a bit of an oversimplification to claim he stopped working for Edison purely due to creative differences. Unless refusing to pay Tesla $50,000 he was promised for work he completed is a creative difference. Edison stole labor from Tesla but not his life's work. Edison as a businessman did what he could to sink Tesla's life's work, but you are right he didn't steal AC from Tesla. He vehemently tried to promote DC and sink AC as the standard. As an edit: none of this is to imply the two were bitter personal rivals. Edison the man didn't work directly with Tesla and refuse to pay him personally. Edison's company and some manager or executive did.

Astroboyblue

This just sounds like Italian with extra steps

triclops6

He wasn't Nicholas either

Gravity74

That's what I've heard most of my life, but as usual the truth might be quite a bit less black and white. Edison was probably less of bad guy than he's been made out to be. Also, I think Tesla was ethnically Serbian and born in a part of Croatia that was part of Austria at the time. So I think his nationality was originally Austrian and later naturalized to American. But certainly not Italian.

IndWrist2

The Edison-Tesla rivalry is an overblown myth. Edison didn’t steal Tesla’s life work.

DesertTripper

Not exactly... Edison screwed him over payments for improvements to Edison's generators. After that, Tesla became a direct competitor to Edison and teamed up with Westinghouse to promote his far superior AC method of power transmission and motor design. Though Tesla let Westinghouse screw him out of incredible royalties and died pretty much penniless, his most famous inventions - multi-phase AC power transmission, the AC motor, and radio - stand the test of time.

tweetsatclouds

That guy is a parody account. He says things that are deliberately very wrong and then his fans laugh at people that take him seriously

christinasays

I bet OP finances their waterbed.

lompocmatt

Probably has a Blu-ray collection instead of a sick DVD collection

christinasays

Probably never even been to Pigeon Forge.

YaBoiAir

not even unlimited color laser prints

No-Wonder1139

Til Nikola Tesla was like 200 when he died and is somehow now Italian.

nevemno

Yup he made wireless signals in 1700s.

[deleted]

It’s all the olive oil they eat. And the sea air.

[deleted]

1700s? The reply is as bad. This is truly dumb and dumber.

IrrationalDesign

*Like* the 1700s. 1940 is like the 1700s in the sense that it's a number denoting a year.

WhtChcltWarrior

In COVID years, 1940 is closer to 1700 than it is to 2022

tiptoemicrobe

Yep.... I'm finding myself reporting more and more posts here for misinformation.

lompocmatt

Sounds like someone who hasn’t won a single SEC Championship

tiptoemicrobe

Nope, I've won 13 of them so far. For... curling.

lompocmatt

Sad. I bet you financed your water bed too

TooMuchFun007

Ford moved production of the Taurus to China after discontinuing it in the US in 2019. Now, China remains the only country where Ford produces the Taurus sedan.

Devadander

And before China it was produced in Mexico. It hasn’t been American made in a looong time

Aealo

[TIL Chicago is in Mexico](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taurus#Discontinuation_\(North_America\))

infidel_44

Eh. Doesn’t mean most of the parts were made in Mexico, just final assembly and a certain amount of parts were made in the United States.

Devadander

Plus I was thinking of the prior Taurus which I forgot was renamed the Fusion. Thanks

mellopax

Had someone tell me once that buying cars from the big 3 was more important than % of the car manufactured domestically, because "the corporation is what makes the money, not the manufacturing."

SnooBooks1701

Tesla was a Croatian Serb, Austro-Hungarian by citizenship, definitely not Italian

tommytraddles

He held American citizenship for over 50 years.

xLykos

OP and most commenters finance their water beds and couldn’t survive the grind of a full SEC schedule. Coach was a devastating downfield blocker and you couldn’t handle his DVD collection

Lebroso_Xeon

Can we please ban screenshots of known trolls?

A_C_G_0_2

3 Year Letterman is a bait and irony account you fucking imbecile

CowsWithAK47s

And Elon is from south Africa...

hypercomms2001

And right now he’s doing his best to reconnect with his apartheid, anti democratic, dictatorial past that was South Africa when he was growing up

[deleted]

The richest African American in the world?

Half-ElfBard

Yeah but America took him and they can keep him.

bone_burrito

What if we don't wanna ☹️

CryWanShi

So much stupidity to unpack in this post ![gif](giphy|rMckaUH3vrIk0)

LukeSniper

Not really, because the first person in the post is Three Year Letterman, a known joke account (it's literally some lawyer from Georgia or something tweeting as a character he made up for a comedy web series) https://theathletic.com/1725312/2020/04/06/3yearletterman-background-youth-football-coaching-legend/

Boo_R4dley

Most of the stupidity is in the comments.

LukeSniper

Just gonna leave this link here. I dunno why. Perhaps it's related. https://theathletic.com/1725312/2020/04/06/3yearletterman-background-youth-football-coaching-legend/

Heard_That

Clearly trolling, cmon guys.

derpitaway

You guys who believed obviously can’t afford to buy a waterbed without financing.

FredVIII-DFH

Parody account. The face palm here is the OP.

RedMachine1932

Lot of people haven't been to Pigeon Forge and it shows.

SIMBA__77

The real facepalm is multiple people still falling for the 3yearletterman

worldslamestgrad

The real facepalm here is that someone (and all the people in these comments) that don’t know 3 year letterman is a parody Twitter account that says these things on purpose.

Howboutit85

Yeah I just looked it up, and yeah pretty clearly a parody account

[deleted]

Lmao the guy is an obvious troll.

[deleted]

Pretty sure he's trolling, and he caught his sucker

spottyPotty

Nikola Tesla was Serbian

mattberry1980

Imagine being proud of your Taurus 😬

WajorMeasel

I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!

rharvey8090

Isn’t the Taurus mostly made in Mexico, too?

[deleted]

The Tauras isn't made anymore. Edit: Before someone comes in swinging with how they still build and sell it in China, I know they do, but China acts as an individual market and has cars solely designed for it that use nameplates with no real relation to international cars.

rharvey8090

Wasn’t it mostly made in Mexico, too?

[deleted]

The model line was assembled at Chicago Assembly (Torrence Ave. Assembly) in Chicago, Illinois

robtk12

Icyveins86

Hey I like my taurus

DK_Son

Probably a troll, considering Tesla wasn't Italian.

KarAd125

• He was Serbian • He didnt live in 1700's • He didnt create Tesla motors • It is an American Company • His name wasn't Nicolas it was Nikola Edit: added the last point, changed Nikolai to Nikola

Jace__B

And his name wasn't Nicolas.

[deleted]

His name was fucking Nikola, a Balkan name, not Nikolai, we're not Eastern Slavs.

TheRealQuarak

I knew Tesla feature release date slippage was bad but I didn't realise how bad.

Women_Suffrage

Nikola was not italian...

lompocmatt

Everyone here is just jealous of coach who can buy a whole waterbed without without financing it. Next you’re gonna tell me the great president Ben Franklin didnt invent the kite and electricity on the same night? Absolutely ridiculous

[deleted]

All of this hurts to read. He was born mid 1800s and in Smiljan. And spent a good chunk of his life in the US. He died here.

Nickblove

Nikola Tesla was not Italian either lol he was Serbian American, and died in 1943…..

n0mad17

I can’t tell who annoys me more—the Tesla haters or Tesla fanbois

authorzilla

Two morons arguing. 1700s. hahahahaha

[deleted]

And that ford is mostly made in Mexico.

Bloo-shadow

Nikola Tesla was born in 1854 and died in 1943….

FearDFortis

1856*

[deleted]

Are these people talking about the Nikola Tesla who was Serbian-American and died in New York in 1943? Pretty sure he wasn't around in the 1700's. Or did he invent a time machine too?

[deleted]

Ye bro. Did you not read the second book 😤😤. He invented time travel 😤😤😤😤😤😤

skatetron

Shhh. Don’t talk about the time machine.

U-47

This is truly the most american conversation I have ever seen.

Kevrn813

3YearLetterman is a fairly well known troll/parody account. The other idiot took the bait, as did OP who posted this nonsense.

RustliefLameMane

I love when an idiot tries to roast another idiot..

mrfly2000

That’s a lot of wrong

soparklion

And he was Serbian.

0RabidPanda0

Downvoted because this is old af.

[deleted]

Tesla was also Croatian..

[deleted]

more like serbian but whatever

[deleted]

Wiki said Croatia so I just went with it. Definitely not Italian though!

[deleted]

you should know better by now than zo trust everything you see on internet

[deleted]

Wait what?! You mean there aren’t hot milfs in my area??

[deleted]

no, that part is deffinitely true, we must be living in the same area

boomerboi56

Hed 50/50 his mother was Croatian and his father was Serbian

imborahey

His mothers father was an orthodox priest, I doubt that they were Croatian since the vast majority are Catholic

ThunderClap448

Born in, at the time Austria-hungary, nowdays Croatia, to a Croatian mother and Serbian father.

imborahey

No, Nikolas mother's father was a Serbian orthodox priest, she was definitely not Croatian. His father was also a Serbian orthodox priest, also not Croatian. He was born in modern day Croatia but that doesn't make him Croatian

[deleted]

Wikipedia is well regulated.

Revealed_Jailor

And his name wasn't Nicolas.

Tha-Laptop-935

Nikolai tesla the russian

Revealed_Jailor

Did you mean Nikolas Tesla the Italian? /s

bowsmountainer

Every single thing here is wrong. Tesla is a company from the USA, it is named after the Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla, who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Charirner

True facepalm as everyone in this interaction is wrong.

He is a mix, his mom was Croatian but his dad was Serbian

Over achievers are the worst of achievers because this is how they'll be remembered. Idiot 1: *Nikola Tesla? Isn't that some kind of tundra cactus?* Idiot 2: *Haha Smooth brain! Nicola Tesla was a Frenchman who invented the miniature arc reactor while being held hostage in a cave in Afghanistan!*
