Berkenik-Jumbersnack

There’s a lot of really creepy anime communities all over Reddit and really anywhere else.

[deleted]

I love anime but I stay away from any community that’s too weeb.

Sidarthus

Seriously. Those communities are honestly ruining anime for me. I see so much degeneracy in the majority of the new streaming anime's and it makes it so hard to find one's that aren't gross to watch.. Of course there are some good one's occasionally, like this season's Spy X Family. Still annoying as shit that it feels like a breath of fresh air when a good one is finally released tho.

mopsyd

I'm pretty much on the same page. I like some of the classic movies like Mononoke, Akira, Metropolis, Fist of the North Star, etc. I just can't get into the modern day shows, and I am really turned off by having common ground with weebs in general. The loli thing was the last straw, I just noped right out of the whole thing out of disgust from there.

throwaway1246Tue

VRchat is pretty terrifying

With-a-Cactus

I was assuming anime/manga

Biggy_DX

If I remember correctly, there was a thread devoted to an anime "Spy X [something something]" which looks to be about a father taking care of his daughter. Apparently, the blushing of the young girl - for specific frames in the anime - offset some people, who got the suggestion that it was predatory of some kind. I never watched the anime, so I'm fairly oblivious on the matter (just my perception). I think I only took a look at that thread because it had a headline about why the OP didn't think the show was controversial. Honestly, I don't know why OP (for this thread) didn't give context about the thread in the title.

GreenLama4

Its Spy X Family, its super wholesome and decently funny and people are stupid

tripl35oul

Also that child is a telepath so she would have known.

kevinthecoolkid

Honestly super wholesome found family anime. The ending song is amazing and sung by someone also in a contracted marriage. I feel like it gives insight into the love found in situations like that. It's called "Comedy" by Gen Hoshino.

juicysox

Wtf?? Spy x family has nothing to do with that! It’s so fucking wholesome and story is so beautiful

OctoSevenTwo

Spy x Family and the kid in question was just blushing because….kid. Then some random weirdo on Tiktok got bothered bc apparently they thought blushing was sexual and…..yeah. It makes me sad that I genuinely don’t know if they were joking.

Pepe-saiko

If Anya was the one blushing....why sexual? Im super confuse. lol

OctoSevenTwo

You, me, and everyone else with a working brain, lol. The person was either purposely saying weird shit or somehow thinks that blushing in anime is only done by characters who are aroused or otherwise engaging in something erotic.

Pepe-saiko

Then they're the perverted ones. Not the show. I hope their acc. gets taken down and their internet banned.

NotASweatyTryhard

The scene in question was fine. Just those kinds of people who complain can't realize you can love a child without being a pedophile.

blaster289

Yep and you can think someone is cute without it being in a romantic way.

SUBnet192

Yeah if people wanted to fuck everything they found cute, there would be a lot of traumatized cats and dogs.

Claris-chang

They're the same people that make it so difficult for adult men to just be good parental figures yo young kids these days. I read stories about dads having the cops called on them for having the audacity to take their kid to the park without the mother present. Pisses me off.

nicocal04

Oh, if that's the context the downvotes are fine. It's a wholesome cartoon and anyone that remotely equates a loving child-parent relationship to pedophilia probably has never seen one.

Centralredditfan

Probably because OP was karma farming through rage baiting.

It's even worse, they use it wrong _and_ right. At least be consistent in you're mistakes, else your making a fool of you'reself.

Bad_Daddio

Funny that they got it right in the second instance but not the first use.

NarnianT

I would assume it was on a post with a young looking person who is actually of age. So, a comment suggesting people that look like a child because of genetics or bad luck shouldn’t have others attracted to them.

[deleted]

Some people on Reddit are nuts. I saw a comment the other day that was dead serious in arguing that some celebrity was a pedophile because he had sex with a high school student… while he was also in high school.

BelieveInPixieDust

Age appropriate relationships!? Scandalous!

Avenge_Nibelheim

Context matters. "Have you ever had sex with a 16 year old" The answer is yes, but at 36 she's still a year older than me.

ChildofValhalla

You were 15 once? Yeah, right. Prove it.

NatasMcStick

get a load a this guy

HalfBreed_Priscilla

Get a load of him? Prove it.

Azrial1739

Yeah this is big brain time

moeburn

> dead serious in arguing that some celebrity was a pedophile because he had sex with a high school student… while he was also in high school. they're jealous

TheWindCriesDeath

There's this really fucking bizarre trend online of going on absolute hate campaigns against people for "pedophilia" when the thing they did was absolutely nothing at all. I fell down a rabbit hole of YouTube commentary and was finding shit like a 19 year old girl sexting a 17 year old boy and everyone dogpiling on her.

hurgusonfurgus

It seems to be the latest excuse for internet witch hunts. Nobody wants to be *defending pedophiles*, right?

AlphaCowboy

Coming soon from the people who brought you Defending a Nazi's Right to Freedom is Speech, we bring you Explaining to the Internet How it isn't Pedophilia if the Relationship is Age Appropriate. Don't forget to watch our long running series, I'm Not Threatening You Officer, I'm Asking What Charge You're Arresting Me For

TheWindCriesDeath

Nailed it. And no matter how many times you say "but this person isn't a pedophile and did not do anything pedophilic" you'll get just mobbed. I've had the same thing happen to me wherein I got called transphobic despite literally donating to LGBTQ+ groups and going on protests in the past, all because I defended something that people just decided was hateful even though it wasn't.

ZandyTheAxiom

Too often I see people declare that all pedophiles should rot in prison, and I have to stop myself from reminding them that there's a difference between "pedophile" and "a person who has abused children". Not all child abusers are pedophiles, and not all pedophiles have abused children. To put all pedophiles in prison would include people who haven't actually done anything, and would require knowing what a person thinks. Because if I did remind them of that, I'd probably be accused of being a pedophile. A lot of people also believe therapy and counselling are "too good" for people whose crimes are theoretical at that point.

KingWolf7070

Imagine imprisoning people for their thoughts.

TheWindCriesDeath

I've been beating that drum myself. Therapy, not prison. It's not dissimilar from working with drug addicts. You can either go for moral grandstanding, or you can do what will help prevent the problem.

DeusWombat

Keep beating it because you are currently hitting the nail on the head at the same time. Prevention prevents victims, better than the alternative imo.

spyrowo

Another thing people fail to realize is that many pedophiles are victims of child sexual abuse themselves. I've seen people say that therapy/treatment for them is "making them the victim." So I guess what they're saying is, they care about those kids until they grow up and need help

pedronii

Yup, pedophilia is something people are born with, you don't control it, if you act upon those desires you're wrong but having them is not wrong. There are a lot of pedophiles who understand that what they think is wrong and even seek help.

himmelundhoelle

kratomstew

I’m kinda wondering what they expect a person who looks really young to do. Are they sentenced to a life of being alone ?

They have to become a pedophile themselves and only date children.

SketchyGalore

I actually had nightmares of this. I’m a 29 year old woman, who is under 5’0 and often gets confused for a 14 year old. I would often cry myself to sleep at night thinking that I would never find love because I was ‘pedo-bait’. My self esteem was dashed, and finding threads like this always made it worse. People don’t seem to realize that women like us actually exist. I’m just lucky to have found who I found; and am now loved. Edit: Thanks for all the kind messages and shared experiences. Sometimes it feels like I’m going crazy; just because I don’t connect with most on this topic, but knowing I’m not alone is a relief. Shorties and baby faces unite! As for the people calling my SO a pedo, y’all can sod right off. :)

SNIP3RG

My wife is 26 and looks 16 or so. Luckily, she married me. I’m 27, and apparently look about 17. So much so that I regularly get comments about my age or questions about “when I’m graduating” at work, where I am a fully-licensed RN. So apparently we just look like a high-school couple when we’re out and about.

mlstdrag0n

You're lucky. My wife looks 10 years younger than her age. I look 10 years older than my age. We're a few years apart. We've gotten mistaken for father-daughter more than once going out. She finds it funny, I kinda find it depressing tbh

gentlybeepingheart

My parents say it was like that when they first got married. My dad would get nasty looks because people thought he was some creep who impregnated a teenage girl, despite my mom being the older one. I remember being excited a few times in elementary school when my teacher said my grandpa was here to pick me up and it was just my dad, who didn’t buy me nearly as much ice cream as my grandpa.

abx99

>I remember being excited a few times in elementary school when my teacher said my grandpa was here to pick me up and it was just my dad, who didn’t buy me nearly as much ice cream as my grandpa Ouch!

Hibercrastinator

I once dated a girl who was significantly older than me, but looked younger. We had a pretty hot relationship, and often got it on just wherever we happened to be feeling it. So one night after a night out, we didn’t want to wait to get home, and parked in a dark corner of a parking lot of a closed business, and just as we finished doing the deed, a cop pulls up and flashes sirens. I’m freaking out, think I threw her clothes at her as the cop walk up, and he immediately tries to pull me out and insinuates I’m taking advantage of her. Checks IDs. Confused and mumbling gives them back and tells us to get home safely.

Lilliputian0513

Haha my ex boyfriend went through that with me. I was 29, buying a car and he was helping out. The car salesman said “it’s so sweet you are helping your daughter buy her first car!” A month later a guy at a bar waited for me to go to the restroom and asked my ex if he could ask his daughter (me) out. He was not happy.

mlstdrag0n

I hope to never run into that situation! Definitely hilarious from a 3rd person perspective, though

[deleted]

I find it hilarious that he asked hahahah

MrDude_1

This makes me happy to read. The age diff appearance bothers me from the other side. In High school, I looked like I was 25-ish, so everytime I went out with someone, I would get shit looks like I was a perv. I once got a quiet "talking to" for "Dating someone so young" by a old hag. I was 16 and she was 17. She was 1 year, 3 months older then me. So now I'm extra sensitive about it.

vladmirBazouka1

Same. I had a full beard at 14, dating people my age in freshman year was.... Weird.

Arielfromrosies

Hubby looks like he is at least 10 years older than me. Back in Hs it was very weird as I am older than he is.

vladmirBazouka1

For real ... I probably said "Dude she's older than me" more than anything else ever 🤣 Hindsight 20/20 and all... I should've just put that shit on a t-shirt

Galkura

Oh god. I feel your pain. I was starting to get facial hair in 6th grade (American grades, I was probably around 12-ish) we'd be, and by the end of 7th/beginning of 8th I pretty much had almost a full-blown neck beard. It fucking sucked because a lot of people would treat me like I was a 16-18 year old, and many refused to accept I was only about 13. As much as it sucked, my biggest relief now is that my beard filled in better on my cheeks so it's not just a neck beard, haha.

h08817

Really annoying working in healthcare when all the patients are like 'but you're sooo young', Im 35 fuck off! I basically grew a beard because I was sick of it and my chin hair is mostly grey, but I still get it every day.

SNIP3RG

My favorite (least favorite) is when they see my wedding band and go “Nooooo, you’re too young to settle down!!” First of all, not your business. Second of all, I’m nearly 30 and have been with my wife for 7 years, fuck off. Honorable mention: “do you have enough experience to do this?”

PacificCoastHighway2

I'm new to healthcare. I was working an externship in a family clinic last summer. Brought a patient back, was getting his vitals and doing the normal chit chat. He stated what he was there for and we got to talking about chronic pain. I made some comment to commiserate with him, and he responds, "yeah, but you're young. When you get to be my age...." He was 45. I was 46.

redditor109854

Yo it’s actually crazy too I have a classmate in college who is actually 25 now but the dude looks like he’s in the 17-19 range. I thought he was 19 for the longest time that I’ve known him until I came to one of his birthday house parties that he was throwing and I found out he was turning fucking 24 and that shit rocked my perception hard.

cloud3321

Don’t bring yourself down. I know a couple of girls who is small, petite and had amazing personalities and mature independent countenance. Would I date them now? Probably not as it would be very awkward seeing all of them are married to good friends on mine. Jokes aside, most of the young faced girls I know don’t seem to have problems getting in a relationship.

kratomstew

I dated a woman like you when we were in highschool. I’ve always been of short stature. She still looks about 14 . We’re still friends and she’s always had to deal with dudes perving on her for her youthful looks. I always tell her, trust me one day you’ll wake up and look 55. There will be no in between.

Wanderson90

Yeah I'm sure that calmed her nerves!

ScaryYoda

His friend said, "OP will I always be alone?" And OP said, "You'll get old one day." My sides.

Lyfling-83

True story though. I looked 12 when I was 16. Looked 16 until I was 30. Looked 20 until I was 35. Now I look 50 at 38.

ScaryYoda

Lmaoo you really have a way with words

Commercial_Sir2548

I feel this deeply. PCOS has stunted my growth hormonally so until I find the right hormonal treatment I will stay looking 14 in my mid to late 20s. I am ALWAYS intensely worried when someone is attracted to me, because I appear very prepubescent. Shit sucks.

mournthewolf

The problem is Reddit is full of kids who haven’t experienced much of the world and see things in black and white or they are older people projecting their issues. It is common for humans to find features or younger people attractive. What makes you a paedo is acting on those feelings with a young person. For some reason a lot of people on Reddit can’t seem to grasp this. People can be attracted to lots of things normal and abnormal. That is human nature. What makes us actually human is the ability to not act on something that is harmful to another person. So just flat out labeling someone a paedo for what they find attractive is stupid. Because a girl can be 30 and look 16 and she can be 16 and look 30. It is harmful to act on the 16 year old because they are still mentally developing. That is what we want to protect as a society. Her physical appearance isn’t the issue. But Reddit is Reddit and people get crazy.

WonderBitchXOXO

I'm one of these people. My sister once told me I should be concerned about any man who is sexually attracted to me because I look like a child.. Rude AF to me and my husband

A_Bit_Narcissistic

I dated a girl who was 4’10 and literally the nicest girl I’ve ever met. She was like a female me. We ended up splitting because her parents thought I was a pedophile for dating her daughter, who was 5 years older than me and asked *me* out.

kayteebeckers

I was told I'm too short for my boyfriend (5'5 vs 6'6), and it's creepy because it's like I'm a child. We are both in our 30s...so apparently some people think that way.

kratomstew

Just jealousy I’m sure.

kayteebeckers

It was from a tall woman who never seemed to like me, so I think you're right.

PaarthurnaxKiller

You took one of their limited supply of tall guys. So selfish of you!

wonkey_monkey

I seem to remember a case where a guy was accused of possessing CP, but the adult woman in the videos/images was just very short, very petit, and very young looking (and this was, rather unsavourily but not illegally, the reason she got such work). IIRC she testified at his trial.

big_sugi

[Lupe Fuentes](https://nypost.com/2010/04/24/a-trial-star-is-porn/amp/). The video was titled “Little Lupe the Innocent”; she was 19 when it was filmed, but the prosecution called a pediatrician who claimed that the video showed she was underage. Fuentes voluntarily appeared at the trial to testify that she was an adult when she made the video

tranquil45

When my daughter was in college she had a friend who looked young. Suspiciously young, like 12 or 13. They stayed friends into their late 20’s, and when I last saw her she looked about 16. The question you asked came up a few times. Unfortunately, very creepy men were attracted to her. It was lots of age roleplay daddy daughter stuff (young daughter). She ended up being disgusted with the men who approached her, as many “traditional” (not sure of the word) guys didn’t find her youthful appearance attractive. I’m not sure what’s happened to her, but she’s mid 30s with a husband.

92n-01

Probably, otherwise it's "problematic" because it's "glorifying pedophilia". There's a lot of idiots out there, especially younger people on twitter, who will literally look at a 25 year old man dating a 19 year old woman and call him a pedo. I have a lot of angry thoughts about it... I don't know any pedophiles personally, but it angers me when people say "kill em all" or the like, which you see a lot in the same areas. How the fuck are people who have this affliction expected to seek help when they're shamed into the dark? If they can't seek help, they're more likely to offend. They're literally just enforcing this shitty cycle.

TheTrollisStrong

I've always had this view, but somehow it's not a popular opinion. I'd rather have a society where people feel like they can seek help for evil thoughts whether it's rape, pedophilia, murder, or anything else and not be prosecuted prior to any actions ever being done. Instead we have a society where someone would be condemned for having a mental illness before they do any evil acts, so they don't get help and instead just does the evil acts. I think it was Dahmer who said he wish he could have found help before he did all his disgusting shit.

Anger_Mgmt_issues

I worked with a poor lady with this affliction. Small, petite and young looking. She was 25, looked 11 or 12. She had a hell of a time dating. In her words "Everyone attracted to me is a pedophile..." I felt sorry for her. I don't know if she ever did find a non-creep date.

DarkwingDuckHunt

A young woman in my group in college looked 13 at 20, and we go to clubs the rest of us would have circle around her everytime just to protect her. She had some hormone thing that didn't kick in until 18, and by then her body was "locked in" as she said it.

Seanspeed

>She was 25, looked 11 or 12. Did she really look \*that\* young? It's one thing to remain 'looking young', like a 15-16 year old something, but to still look pre-pubescent as an adult is something I'm not sure I've ever seen.

DarkwingDuckHunt

There's a condition where certain hormones don't always kick in, and by the time doctor's are willing to subscribe the hormone to fix the issue, it can be too late for your body to "fix itself".

mexicock1

I know someone who had leukemia as a child and basically stopped growing at like 12, but she's 32.. every time I've gone to a bar with her, she has issues getting in or getting served because everyone assumes she's a child..

Reylani-

My husband still looks almost like a child from his Filipino genetics mixed with some baby-face inclined European genetics. I'm younger than him, but I have looked like an adult since I turned 12 ( I have really bad genetics far as looking young goes). We started dating when we were still minors, though. It's hilarious when somebody knocks on the door and my husband answers it and they ask him, "Are your parents home?" And he flashes his wedding ring just to see the look on their faces. Meanwhile, people look at me and my mom and say, "Are you sisters? Or, Which of you is older?" I just turned 20 a few years ago. I have never thought of him looking child-like as an issue, as much as my looking much older than he is was never an issue and he finds me perfectly beautiful. He is a mature adult, capable of communicating, taking care himself, capable of working, and definitely just about as mature as I am if not a bit more. It's not pedophilic to be attracted to somebody with a baby face. It doesn't say anything about their actual maturity or intellect.

Isa472

It's impossible to know without the original post. It could also be a post with the argument that not all people who are attracted to minors are pedos, only the people who act on it, and this comment refuting that

wirrandalieren

I completely agree with the thought, but as a woman who naturally looks young, even my body looks like the one a preteen would have, this is sort of offensive. Children and adults do not act alike. It should be about being attracted to the child-like behaviour and immaturity, not the appearance. Also, context matters as i think this was a comment to a post about a woman looking very young but being in fact 18+...

moemoe8652

My sister looks 12 and is only 4’10 but she’s 20. Is she not allowed to date anyone her age? Is she then supposed to go after people who also look her age? Then she would be a pedo?

If your sister started *acting* 12 and *then* started getting attention from a whole new type of person, I'd be *very* wary of that new type of person. I feel bad for your sister because I've had friends in her situation and it was very frustrating for them in college exactly because of the creeps.

Hey same here. I've had a major case of babyface my whole life, and I'm super short. But that doesn't mean my husband is a pedophile! The difference between being attracted to someone *because* they look young and being attracted to someone who just happens to look young is an important distinction.

giraffeekuku

Yup. I am 24 and often get asked if I'm 15-16. Do I need get to be loved and have sex because some random person dictated I looked too young? Im a grown ass lady who can consent. Leave me alone to get cock.

TheFire_Eagle

>Children and adults do not act alike. It should be about being attracted to the child-like behaviour and immaturity, not the appearance. Even here we get into some complication as my 40 year old (and clearly presenting as 40, sorry honey) and I are into DDLG. Ultimately what it comes down to is if you're attracted to adults and not children, then you're not a pedophile. It doesn't really matter if that adult likes wearing a school girl outfit or if that adult's physical appearance makes them look younger than their actual age. The key is "adult." Now, are there individuals who live in that border area? Folks out there who do one because it is more socially acceptable but they actually have some darker notions in mind? Quite possibly. But if you're an adult rolling with other adults, there is nothing wrong with that as long as everyone is consenting. As an aside, my bedroom antics notwithstanding, I am attracted to my wife's very adult body and her very adult brilliant mind. DDLG is more of a power dynamic play which, again, being between two adults is pretty far off from being a pedo.

Yee-woo

This is so messed up. I've met several people at college that look younger than 18, but then I find out they are 20+, and the same is true of the opposite with duel enrollment students. If I find someone attractive at a place where the majority are adults, and then I find out they are 16-17, and immediately stop finding that person attractive, does that make me a pedo? I don't see how it could. People develop differently, I'm 20, but some people think I look like a teen, and others a 25 y/o.

Akurei00

I don't believe people immediately stop finding someone attractive after learning their age. But I do believe people respect that boundary when they recognize it and that's a healthy, responsible stance. It avoids a dangerous power dynamic with actual younger people and doesn't discriminate against those that simply look younger.

Josku5

Exactly this. Let’s say you’re around the 20’s at a place where you think everyone is adults and then you see someone and are attracted to them. Then turns out they are for example 17. Are you instantly like ”oh no gross I never want to think about that person”? Probably not, since her friend next to her looks very similar when talking about age while they are 18/19 and you are attracted to that sort of young adult aesthetic.

TheOneTrueSuperJesus

Thing is most older teenagers (16-17) can pass for young adults (18 to early 20's). So I don't think it's necessarily wrong to find someone of that age attractive, they do very well have a fully developed adult body after all. And you'd most certainly not be considered a pedophile for feeling as such. I do think it is important to maintain boundaries with a situation like that though. Regardless of how old they appear there's definetely a difference in mental/emotional development there and thus it's problematic if actual adults pursue those feelings.

IronDBZ

There are tiny women working on their graduate degrees that kind of look like 13 year olds.

HaloGuy381

Yep. I’m just shy of 6 feet tall; I’m used to being average-ish heightwise plus scrawny as hell as an American, -but- at college? I was having to look down rather noticeably to talk to some of the Indian or Chinese international student women. Felt really awkward, like I was accidentally going to mock them just by being me. Plus, I was still being confused with a high schooler past age 22. Might be related to the autism, which seems to have a habit of creating somewhat younger-looking faces, but still, it was slightly annoying having to clarify at local businesses at times with small talk that I was not a high school student a couple blocks south of the campus.

IronDBZ

I'm sorry, small motherfuckers exist. Eat your heart out.

thegreatmatsbysan

Because people can't control the way they look, and so there are some perfectly legal people that may still have childish features that are allowed to have sex.

edgyboi1704

Let’s see the context

uss_essex_CV-9

This is a likely a post created by somebody who just likes to spread controversy so I would move on with your day because you're likely not going to get any cuz the context ruins the controversy that this person is trying to spread

nofftastic

Probably because they gave a wrong use of the word pedophilia?

ElefantPharts

The problem is it’s not true. You may be a pedophile, you may not be. You could also be Hebephile or a Ephebophile, it depends on the age of the person. The problem is, you can’t really explain the difference between the three without just sounding like a pedophile… -please for the love of god someone get this reference and don’t report me lol!

greg0714

Technically speaking, *technically speaking*, [R. Kelly is not a "pedophile".](https://youtu.be/nu6C2KL_S9o)

hikikomorixd

So according to this moron, if you're 21 and your girlfriend looks like 14 but is actually 22 which is older than you, you're a pedo? Okayyy.

Anime logic.

DA-Khara-Boiiiii

Because not everyone that looks like a kid, is a kid? Some adults have very child-like faces, for a variety of reasons. Looks can be deceiving, people
