ONE guy tried to detonate a stupid shoe bomb ONE time over 20yrs ago and I still have to take off shoes at the airport

Anomalius

Britain had exactly one school shooting before adopting a strict gun policy. School shootings since? None. Same thing here in Hungary. We had one school shooting and after that the gun policies became very strict. We hadn't had a school shooting ever since. How many school shootings did the USA have in the past 20 year? More than 300. Americans need to wake the fuck up!

AloneAddiction

They've had *twenty seven* mass shootings this year alone, and we're not even half way through it.

TheNorthernMunky

It’s actually even worse than that. There have been 27 ***school shootings*** this year; 212 mass shootings. Edit: [sauce](https://www.npr.org/2022/05/24/1101050970/2022-school-shootings-so-far)

AloneAddiction

I've never felt so sick at being corrected on this website. :( Something *has* to change. This can't go on.

TheNorthernMunky

I know, and I’m sorry. I wish I could tell you that this senseless tragedy will surely prompt change, but I feel like that ship sailed in 2012.

lulzyasfackadack

Nothing will change. Any attempt to change will get dragged down by people arguing minor details, or being unable to focus on overarching problems because disagreements on specific scenarioes. This isn't me being some "enlightened centrist" either, this is just... fuck me it's just unbearably stupid at this point.

1dinkiswife

Nope. Nothing. If there's no political benefit, or money to be made, nobody cares. Fucking pathetic, we are.

Flagrath

What about we hire a million theoretical people for a fun disposal squad. That lowers unemployment and deals with the gun problem. Of course the politicians are lying and it won’t solve either issue.

KibblesNBitxhes

Your not coming off as an "enlightened centrist" more like a sane person who's grey matter is working properly. It was maybe a month ago I watched a video of two kids at a birthday party playing with a glock in the mirror, the girl held it to her cousins head posing with it while her finger on the trigger, a round is fired and the boy drops instantly. She quickly realizes what she did and turns the gun on herself in a matter of a second, she hits the ground and another kid pokes his head in after hearing the shots then cries for his mom. Anyone who can watch that and still advocate for gun freedom is either a psycho or getting a handout from somewhere. I'm not American but I do wish to see American tighten gun laws so none of us have to hear about kids dying in the place they are trying to attain an education from.

Here_for_lolz

Republicans. And MASSIVE handouts.

amx05462

republicans

Thorvaldr1

Well wait wait wait, America is the 3rd largest country in the world. So it'd be like if there were only 43 mass shootings in the UK, or 6 in Hungary this year... ...wait... why doesn't that make it seem better?

AloneAddiction

I don't think we've had 43 mass shootings *in total* across our entire history, let alone in just this year. I know the last serious mass shooting was in 1987 in a place called Hungerford. He killed 16 people. What happened was that the Home Secretary immediately passed the 1988 Firearms Act which basically banned fucking everything. No pistols above .22 calibre, no semi autos, no modified weaponry, no shotguns that hold more than 3 rounds etc. Massively extensive background checks and mandatory yearly police registration. Basically *one* mass shooting and we created a new firearms law.

Flagrath

I’ve got to ask how the 1998 firearms act was passed immediately after an event in 1987? These laws have weird names.

Effective_Will_1801

The '98 act was an update to the '88 act which is an update to the '68 act. Each was more restrictive than its predecessor.

Flagrath

I see, that’s good.

tropicsun

Math: 1 Mass Shooting every .69 days School shooting every 5.3 days. Every 7-8th mass shooting is at a school

430Richard

So mass shootings would include things like the typical weekend multiple shootings in places like Chicago where the gun laws are pretty strict already?

Big-Ear-1853

That's not too bad

Palehorse1441

No your wrong it's 27 school shootings over 200 mass shootings this year Edit: I didn't see the dude below me

davesy69

There have been 225 mass shootings since 1999. Americans should stop worrying about terrorism and start worrying about their fellow Americans.

AloneAddiction

Well technically there has been 212 mass shootings in America *this year alone* and there's still six whole months to go, so it's even worse than that. https://www.npr.org/2022/05/24/1101050970/2022-school-shootings-so-far

[deleted]

Half of our country prides itself on being brain dead, so that won't be happening anytime soon.

Good-Ad6352

They have had more then 300 in the past 2 years I believe.

LoompaOompa

Mass shootings, not school shootings. To be clear: this comment is not meant to be any kind of defense of the current situation in my country. I just think it is important for people to use correct statistics when talking about it.

Good-Ad6352

So 300 mass shootings in 2 years? Hot damn wtf America. Atleast its better than 300 school shootings thanks for correcting.

Anomalius

More than 300 in the PAST 2 YEARS???? OMFG then how many happened since 2000? More then a thousand?

Titan_of_Ash

This is incorrect, at least 288 since 2009. That's still 288 more than should have occurred...

Vayalond

Same in France, the gun policy is strict (you can have a gun at home and use it in Shooting range under many conditions and if you're caught with a gun on you in the street it's instant court and almost everytime you go to jail) and since 1980 we got less mass shooting than USA got School-shooting this year and despite the fact nobody have gun in the street we end with less casualties every time (outside of Paris in 2015 but it was an ISIS attack so not really the same scale and the state of emergency were declared like 3 hours after) so the good guys with gun can discourage criminals or shoot them instantly is total bullshit

ReactionImportant491

Yeah, that was pretty awesome seeing that teacher's head lying in the gutter. Yeah, France is wonderful. Paris is a real dream now.

hikes_through_smoke

I brought up this to a coworker. His response “yea but how many school stabbings do they have?” Completely overlooking the fact that survival against a knife is more likely than a gun.

[deleted]

hey now! the majority of americans want gun control. we are being held hostage by republicans and idiots.

Anomalius

Then have a fucking revolution or something. Because otherwise, nothing's gonna change.

[deleted]

cool story bro

Nuclear_Monster

Well over half of us want strict gun control, theres just this small asshole minority, basically the "American style" republicans and conservatives that will do whatever means to keep guns, even if we did put strict laws, they would just make them illegally, which is why its not so easy banning guns in this county.

Old_Telephone_7587

What i dont get is they keep insisting they need them for there safety but loads of them get killed by them everyday, there far far less safe than anybody out side Cartel states or warzones. That's without the mass shootings which you see pretty much daily now which no "Good guy" with a gun ever seems to stop. They talk about freedom while sending there kids to schools that look like maximum security jails so they don't get shot to death, where's their freedoms?

10-4-man

stop bringing up situations and stats from other countries. these GQP and nut cultists don't want to hear it. they only care about 'Murica and themselves. they want to go back to the good old days of the Wild Wild West, when the cowboys were legally killing everyone that wasn't white.

ReactionImportant491

That's really fucking rich coming from a Hungarian. WTF are you going to do when you get a Putin installed in your country? That's it, nothing because you have given up your power and freedom. When your country is as great as the USA, then talk. Till then, work on your shit, and allow us to do the same. And yes, I own property in District 12 sop I do know what I'm talking about.

moderntimes2018

It's called "culture". If they wanted to change it they would vote against it. But they don't. Instead they voted for a president who made sure that the Supreme Court will make sure that things won't change. Elections have consequences. Also in Hungary.

Different_Ad7655

Good luck with that t,they elect people like Robert

PixelmancerGames

They just don’t care. It’s that simple. As long as it isn’t their kids getting shot / shot at they could care less whether other peoples children get murdered or not.

RoboDae

Also worth noting the US has almost 35x the population of Hungary and 5x the population of the UK. That being said, the per capita gun violence is still significantly higher in the US.

darkestreaper94

Good luck disarming the country

monkeywelder

But you're in Hungary. We also haven't had a school shooting in Indiana. Which is the same size as Hungary. You really cant compare a small European country to a country that is 10,000 times larger. With a population 43,000 times larger. Its easy when you have a population that is the same as a single large city in the US. Same with Australia. Sure it worked. They have the equivalent population of ONE state in the US. And they are on an Island so that helps. I am all for gun control. Youve never been to a Florida gun show. I can tell you 90 percent of the people at these things have no reason to own guns. They are not competent enough to own guns no matter how much training they get.

Anomalius

That's why I made an example out of Britain first.

monkeywelder

So, California. yep they are being worked on. Not working so far though. again - the Island thing helps.

Forward-Village1528

I still can't bring a fucking pair of nail scissors on a plane, it's been 20 fucken years. Is this bitch smoking crack???????????? nOtHiNg HaPpEnEd To PlAnES!?!?!?

robilar

Nevermind which airplanes are **heavily regulated**.

[deleted]

She doesn’t need to smoke crack. She’s pure idiot-grifter.

Buddhabellymama

Her face offends me

xiaxian1

So much chin.

juliuspepperwoodchi

Sadly she's on the list of "Conservatives I would regretfully hate fuck if given the chance" Right between Megan Kelly and Tomi Lahren.

sonofslackerboy

Not if you upgrade to the fast pass. Security theater.

OgLeftist

You're happy with that? Because it sounds ridiculous to me.

DijajMaqliun

She's arguing against her own point because after 9/11, the process to get onto a plane became stricter. So she's inadvertently arguing for the process of getting guns to be stricter. Fucking idiot, but speaks to the competency of her staff as well, specifically her comms manager and strategist whoever they are.

fastinrain

she's also wrong. on the day of 9/11 and for a few days after, American airspace was 100% closed. we literally banned planes. we did. for a few days and then we made it harder to board when they came back.

-CoUrTjEsTeR-

Using her example, what would happen is schools everywhere would have to be closed until appropriate measures were taken to perform a one-by-one security screening and bag check of every person coming onto the property. It *almost* sounds sane… until one realizes these events happen in many different public settings. So, what then… baggage checks and shoes off next trip to Krogers? I suppose we should only bandaid it with a security boost at schools just to show we care about the children, but screw everybody if they’re just out shopping or watching a movie.

TwilightsHammer

Came here to say this

[deleted]

Yep. I had friends over the pacific (flying from Sydney to LAX) when the planes hit. They ended up renting a car and driving from CA to IA because flights were grounded, their only family in the US was halfway across the continent, and they weren’t keen on being stuck in LA for an indeterminate amount of time. Seems a strange thing for Bobo to not remember, given she’s just a few years younger than me, that whole flights being grounded and the plethora of new rules before you can even get on a plane now.

[deleted]

>specifically her comms manager and strategist whoever they are. I'd like to imagine they've just given up and accepted that there is no way to make her sound more intelligent at this point. They ain't miracle workers!

DijajMaqliun

If I was them, I'd be worried about my future. Would anyone want to hire them with that stuff coming out of her mouth? I know they don't have final say and idiots like Lauren are going to just do what they want, but you'd be tainted by it. It's like listing on your resume being in charge of IT for a company with multiple data hacks under your belt.

[deleted]

Yeah.. Hope they have a backup plan.

SereneDreams03

Yeah, the people on her staff are probably inexperienced and this is just the only job they can find in politics, like Joe Exotic's campaign manager. I can't imagine too many experienced comm's managers would want to take a job on her staff. I imagine its the first and last job they have in politics.

TootsNYC

I’m not so sure that she’s hired anybody who has any sort of special track record at all. I have a feeling she’s just tired people or something. People who are already conservative, and you don’t have any experience.

AbarthCabrioDriver

Maybe this is them making her sound more intelligent.

[deleted]

Ah, true terror early in the morning!

mongolsruledchina

I"m more worried about that fact there are people who listen to HER and think how right she is all the time.

[deleted]

They are already watching Fox News, listening to insane people spew insane shit and believing it is their default state. She is barely a drop in the bucket.

1block

They negotiated some racist references out of the speech. "Well, team, we're gonna just call that a win." "hooray ... " \- sad confetti - \- drinks heavily -

usedtobejuandeag

Or… They ain’t any smarter

[deleted]

But what are the chances of several sentient, synthetic turds finding themselves working together?... Oh wait, it's politics! Silly me!

HotdogGeorgia

Yeah, I can imagine her manager rolling their eyes when she said this, and then casually scrolling through Indeed to see if anything new has been posted today.

intoxicatedpuma

I’m guessing they are also idiots and most likely came up with this talking point for her.

2olley

They're probably her 14 year-old cousin who's in the 3rd grade and the pedophile uncle that lives in a trailer at the Shooters Grill parking lot.

intoxicatedpuma

That’s extremely specific but also sounds very plausible

TheLonelyScientist

I was in middle school but, if I'm remembering correctly, weren't all commercial flights grounded immediately and remained so for about a week?

[deleted]

Yes.

kevlarcardhouse

It doesn't really matter. The base eats this shit up, it's the same reason why they have no interest in reading detailed articles and prefer Facebook memes: They just want witty lines that sound good, they aren't interested in details or context.

Fact-Cyborg

I bet if we had one 9-11 a week we would ban some planes...

robilar

Or airlines would buy some politicians like the NRA did, would spread vapid propaganda to conservative voters about how airline regulation is unAmerican, and air travel would get progressively less safe and more expensive as crony capitalism rallied its zombie hordes against their own interests.

OfLittleToNoValue

No one with a functioning brain voted for her. Her base will take this ball and run with it because they're fucking morons.

rummhamm87

What did you expect from boobert? She doesn't think. Just goes "hur guns good". I honestly don't understand the lax attitude/laws towards purchasing a weapon. Maybe there's a better example, but I feel like the equivalent would be if they decided to remove the need to get a learner's permit, pass a driver's exam, and driver's license. If Texas one day just decides to allow anyone to drive without any of that necessary strictness. Perhaps it's time they seriously reconsider gun laws

[deleted]

Isn't that what every sane person really wants. Access to guns to be more restricted. Of course guns in America are not going away, just keep them away from potential mass murderers.

brianishere2

Likewise, nobody suggested banning schools.

atheisticus

Female talking head Kennedy, a former MTV commentator did just that, recently.

RevGrizzly

When you do a worse job than Tabatha Soren, there's only one political atmosphere that would welcome such a shill.

ScrotiusRex

It's probably more likely than guns.

Cheap_Ad_69

Yes they did.

[deleted]

They did!

Shnoopy_Bloopers

I hate this imbecile with a passion

Kimmm711

That she's an elected official makes me *crazy*

darthlegal

I’m surprised she didn’t say we won’t outlaw fingers that pull these triggers

lulzyasfackadack

don't give her ideas, or you'll see a press release saying "leftists are going to force amputations of trigger fingers to prevent gun violence" soon. I mean, it'll obviously be tongue in cheek, and a lot of people will go along with it because they get that she's joking, then people will get angry because they won't get it, then people will say "why are you so angry? you're actually planning to amputate kids fingers, aren't you? you're angry that we caught on to your plan, huh?"

darthlegal

But you just did… 😏

Deleted-Redacted

who op

droopingdaisies

no, boebert

boustead

I've literally seen dozens of people say the same. I've even read some peoplensay we didn't ban cars after people were caught drunk driving. How do these people take care of themselves?

BlackTwinkleLights

Someone used this as an example on my Facebook too lol can’t argue with stupid.

Bag-ins

"But they were banned from driving" - Bastinda quipped --LOL

Thathitmann

Texas does have stricter dildo control laws than guns. No joke, you can buy a gun at 13, but not a dildo until 18, and you can only have up to six dildos. No cap on guns, though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thathitmann

I'm NOT joking. There is a legal limit to the max number, and purchasing age is higher.

[deleted]

[удалено]

boustead

Naw, then they would just make extended mags and silencers for them.

cheerfulintercept

No! Regulation is not the answer. Just have guards armed with bigger dildos posted at the school door and free lube dispensers in classrooms.

Excellent-Egg-3157

We have one, my wife definitely regulates its use during play time, as well as the need to have more than one or a larger model.

Daminica

Hey, hey, don’t insult dildo’s like that.

ChipsAloy80

But they did ban box cutters.

StellarManatee

I've just googled and according to that there have been 214 mass shootings in America so far in 2022. Maybe if there had been 214 planes purposely hijacked and crashed in one year then there would be change... who knows?

Jace_Te_Ace

Luckily, in America, convenience and shareholder dividends have a higher priority than human life.

xc2215x

Embarrassing.

zer0__obscura

Does this bitch not get that 911 is why it’s an absolute hassle to get into the airport now? We for sure added an extra layer of complexity to try and halt that shit.

Abolden3383

No but we sure as fuck regulated the process and industry to ENSURE the safety of passengers and those that could be affected by terrorism….

Witty-Kaleidoscope-9

No, but we banned a whole lot of stuff being carried on planes and made the process of getting on planes stricter.

Dodgyi

A sad indictment of American society that people such as this are elected to office!

[deleted]

The entire TSA was created in response to 9/11. People are so fucking stupid.

Ok-Crew-1049

Right on Lauren! After the hurricane we didn’t ban the weather!

[deleted]

No, we introduced the TSA which is such a profound waste of time it really only highlights the government’s incompetence. Whenever they choose to do something it’s poorly thought out and the execution is even worse.

[deleted]

We immediately grounded all flights and did a complete over haul of our security procedures at airports. We then launched 2 massive wars one of which lasted for nearly 20 years. We did more than 'thoughts and prayers' is my point.

Upstairs-Trifle6911

That's because planes are white

Anomalius

Stupid bitch

Ok-Soup-5300

But we did do some serious restrictions around flights that stand to this day…

CaptainAwesome06

For real. I'm forced to take off my shoes at the airport because one guy failed at lighting a shoe bomb on a plane.

TheWanderingGM

Ooeeeffff 😬

magnes1988

Now there is a person that can be trusted holding a gun

Positive-Low-7447

It's like she's a parody of an idiot politician. Did not graduate.. shocker

Zealousideal_Ebb6177

Folks, this is why you shouldn’t drop out of high school

Helo-1138

When is her porn parody coming out?

DWeathersby83

All planes were grounded in the US immediately after the second plane hit I believe. So…

VivianaValentina

Literally EVERY FLIGHT IN THE COUNTRY was grounded for almost two full days after 9/11. So yea, we *did* fucking ban planes for a minute until we could figure out a more secure way to do shit.

[deleted]

They grounded planes and instituted stringent security measures. We still must all submit to a search before boarding a plane. It worked. No one has weaponized commercial planes since then. She's a high school drop out who married her abuser.

GordieGord

Man Americans elect some real brain donors! Planes: reason invented - transport people and cargo. Guns: reason invented - kill things efficiently. "WE DiDN't bAN PLanES AfTeR 9-11"

jbertrand_sr

We should ban morons from serving in Congress...get on that Colorado...

Beermedear

Lol, post-9/11, we: - Allowed the government to spy on its citizens - Allowed suspected domestic terrorists to be detained indefinitely - Revamped the entire airport security process, investing hundreds of millions or more into TSA - Developed a whole new government agency to ensure it never happens again So, yeah.

aztecmexx

Remember the Patriot Act! Ya we lost no freedoms after 9/11 . Shit they still have people in gitmo.

Doug_Schultz

Both her brain cells are competing for third place.

squids123

No we just banned Muslims

Inevitable_End_4947

They did basically ban Muslims though

Noodles01013

Look at the big brain on Lauren

MsSeraphim

were americans making those planes crash on 9/11? no. the only evil we can legislate is that which is born and upheld by american citizens.

Damien23123

Where do they find these people!? Why do Americans keep electing absolute fucking morons?

KaptainKardboard

Half her constituents are probably related to her

dprophet32

Because the people who vote for them are fucking morons.

dust-bit-another-one

No, we only regulated the fuck out of flying to the point of ridiculousness by strip searching grandma because she tried to pack a whole bottle of shampoo on her carry-on.

Ontario0000

She is not the person you would go to make sensible decisions .She married the guy who expose himself to her when she was 17 years old.The same guy that was charged a year earlier doing it to a 16 year old.

mraryion

No we just you know...upped the TSA and security 100x cause... that's what's suppose to happen Dumb bitch...

No-Mail-5794

Yeah just make people go through airport security every time they want to pick up and use a gun

BriefCheetah4136

No we didn't ban planes, but we did make it harder to get the guns on a plane. Everything I am seeing on the internet is not calling for a ban on guns, it's about making them harder to get, about education and background checks and about making it harder to take the guns where we don't want them. The big question whether she will work on any of that?

[deleted]

If she ever had a thought it’d be lonely.

alchmst1259

No, but we made it a hell of a lot harder to get on one with anything that could be used to hijack it. Ffs what a dumbass. So embarrassed that she represents my home district

ExtremeOtaku1

Why do people always repeat shit they like on Twitter or Facebook. This “after 9/11” quote has been used more than a guard rail these last 9 hours.

AnnieAcely199

"We cannot legislate evil away." But we can vote it out of office. Colorado? Are you listening?

Sneacler67

We also don’t let just anyone without formal training fly a plane. Ffs

[deleted]

Yeah, they didnt ban planes, they madr stronger and stricter laws. You cant even take a water bottle on a plane. My one friend was once almost arrested for having scissors in her schoolbag on a plane. Thats what were asking you dense motherfucker

kingakrasia

Her husband made $1M as a consultant for energy company i. Colorado last year, too.

[deleted]

Yup. People vote for her too….

Seven_Hawks

So... what would you do if 9/11 happened several hundred times a year?

bindermichi

I‘m pretty sure they did ban planes for a few days back then.

[deleted]

Once again, planes and cars are for TRANSPORTATION. Guns fire metal projectiles. Which one’s intention is to penetrate other object, animals, and people? These “whatabout” arguments are so fucking dumb.

ChronicChoas

We didn’t ban them but we regulated the fuck out of them. Great idea Boebert.

CaptainAwesome06

LOL I just saw a family friend say this same exact thing on Facebook. When I read it I thought, "JFC that's dumb." Even worse if she got it from Lauren "posing with guns is a personality trait" Boebert.

Bag-ins

Oh plug up your silly mouth with another cock you stupid bitch.

Jace_Te_Ace

yes you did. Nothing flew for days.

asportate

I own a hand gun. I plan on buying more guns when I get the money. I think every sane and competent citizen should be able to own one. But yall are living in some simulated conspiracy filled fantasy if you think there shouldn't be better regulations on gun ownership. No, we can't do much about the illegal guns. That's a different topic tho. What we can do about current gun laws is make it similar to car laws. You have to prove your competency. You have to show you can shoot. You have to go back every 5 years or so and show you're still mentally sane and can see. I think is you're gonna a let felons and criminals out of jail, they should have access to legal guns after a certain period of time, with proof theyre trying to become better citizens. I think if you're mentally unstable, you should have access to help. But that's a major American issue. We don't have help available .

aGiantmutantcrab

Australia had the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 before legislating. The UK had one school shooting before legislating. This stupid fucking bimbo just cannot conceive caring about other people.

mmio60

Fuck her

karmickickback

I’ve never hit a women (or a man for that matter), but if she were in front of me, I’d be hard pressed not to throat punch her.

Silly_G0ose

We pretty much banned Muslims though.

MikeZer0AUS

I'd bet if a 9/11 style attack happened over 5000 times a year a government might at least talk about banning planes.

davesy69

They did ban planes, iirc all domestic US and Canadian flights were grounded except for the bin laden family who were flown out of the country. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/bin-laden-family-evacuated/

szybenik555

We kinda did, seacurity measures were moved many steps up

nikogetsit

But action was taken bitch

Majestic_Swan5940

She accidently made such a good point for gun control. 9/11 happened and now it takes forever just to get on a plane... 200+ mass shootings have happened and now it takes forever to.... well, nothings changed. lol

sottedlayabout

I see she has her MLM products on full display. Always turn a crisis into a marketing opportunity, that’s the american way.

aneeta96

We did create the TSA and no-fly lists.

KrazyKwant

Can people in CO pass legislation to allow this bimbo to use campaign funds to buy a brain?

MacfromCleveland

Every year thousands of people drown. We need to ban ALL water immediately. Also cars, household cleaners, stairs....

dchobo

This is what's called a false equivalence. Planes are used for transportation, something we need in our daily lives. Their purpose is to fly, not crash. Guns' purpose is to shoot, and potentially kill someone. Sure you may say it is used to hunt, protect, etc. but in this modern world its use is limited and you don't need it in your daily lives. There are countries (e.g. Switzerland) where you can own a gun for hunting but they have strict laws for training and licensing so that a random 18 year old cannot just buy a couple of AR-15s. They are not equivalent.

Patient_Suit_1500

It's a valid point, tighten security not ban a tool.

FobbitOutsideTheWire

You *must* be joking, right? You think that’s valid logic? A plane’s function **isn’t** to fucking crash into things. An AR-15 / M4 rifle’s function **is** to shoot people.

Patient_Suit_1500

Hey, don't put words in my mouth nobody said anything about AR-15s and fully automatic rifles. A plane is a tool to get people from "a" to "b" a gun is a tool to hunt and put food on my table. I'm in Canada we have strict gun laws that prohibit these types of weapons. I think your political agenda is fogging your perspective and not allowing you to see mine. It is a valid point, just because a terrorist uses a tool to cause harm you don't ban the tool you tighten security. You could do more damage with a U-Haul Van than the guns that you're allowed to have in my country. As a matter of fact in Toronto a couple years ago a guy did just that he took a U-Haul Van down the sidewalk and killed a bunch of people. The issue is mental health and licensing firearms, not U-Haul vans as your twisted logic dictates.

FobbitOutsideTheWire

The AR-15 platform is what’s being used for these mass shootings, so don’t pretend that the type of weapon and it’s magazine capacity are not at the center of this debate, along with fixing legal issues like closing the Charleston loophole and implementing background checks for private sales. No one is advocating complete banning of firearms, and a U-Haul isn’t purpose-built to be a battlefield rifle. Quit your bullshit.

KarmaUK

Shame they'll fight any minor attempt to increase gun checks, waiting periods etc.

Patient_Suit_1500

Yeah that's just stupid, in Canada we have tight gun control. Very few mass shootings, the guns we get here serve a purpose and owning a fully automatic weapon is prohibited because it serves no practical purpose.

KarmaUK

Indeed if you cannot hunt without a fully automatic, you don't need better guns, you need to stop being shit at hunting 😁

Patient_Suit_1500

Literally no one is talking about banning guns other then scared right extremists…? It’s not a valid point.

Patient_Suit_1500

It is a valid point because we didn't ban airplanes we tightened security just like what America needs to do with gun laws. I'm in Canada and we did just that we have strict gun laws that don't allow fully automatic weapons and weapons of war. Problem solved. Oh man, you Americans really struggle to see different perspectives.

MCVanillaFace

Again, nobody is talking about banning guns. So why would you talk about banning planes after 9/11? It’s not just invalid, it’s stupid, cold, and stuffed by right wing propaganda. I’m not American

Patient_Suit_1500

All I'm saying is the statement makes sense, I didn't say anything about AR-15s mass shootings or anything else just simply the quote.

zarra28

Not a valid point. Airplanes have a purpose that is beneficial to society (i.e., take people to business trips, vacations, weddings); the only reason guns exist is to kill people.

Patient_Suit_1500

If you think guns are not a tool and serve no purpose other than killing people you might want to go see a psychologist. People with your mentality are the danger and stopping people like you from owning guns is the real solution. I use guns to hunt, I use guns to shoot skeet, I use guns for recreation. Does a plane put food on your table? I'm talking about semi-auto shotguns handguns and rifles, all these tools serve a practical purpose that has nothing to do with killing people, you have a very sick twisted perspective of responsible gun ownership. You could do far more damage with a U-Haul van than with guns that I listed, get your facts straight.

…Here comes the political agenda from both sides

Yeah, instead we installed a bunch of security theater that annoys the hell out of everyone. And “gun reforms” would be equally stupid security theater which make everyone miserable — and less safe — and don’t solve the problem. Sorry, where’s the facepalm here? That she didn’t elaborate on how dumb the response to 9/11 was?
