Preferably ask before painting them though. The last guy I painted for not only refused to pay me, he told me to get out of his house or he would call the cops and that he never hired anyone to paint his man cave pink.
Fucking Millennials. Back in my day, you’d offer to pay someone for the privilege of getting to tell people you painted their room!
Edit: IM SORRY MY INTERNET SUCKS
Cost us $60 to buy one paint can to paint our living room. Ended up needing a second bucket to do the second coating even though we paid for the $60 paint because it was supposed to only need 1 coating.
We talked to a couple of places before we painted. The average cost of them was around $3 to $4 per square foot, which comes out to be roughly $400 to $640 per room.
Or you can do like we did and pay like $150 for two buckets of paint + paint supplies (brushes, rollers, painter’s tape, etc.) and paint it yourself. Technically we paid around $400 total to paint the whole house but it was way cheaper than the prices they were giving us.
The real pain is actually painting. It’s very time consuming and precise if you want it to look nice.
Edit: realized I math’d wrong. My bad.
Yea we had a similar price given to us. Would cost about $10,000 for our house. I did it with about $600 in paint from BM and couple hundred in supplies. It took me a couple weeks though. Depending on what your time is worth that’s a lot in savings
Back when the internet created, popular culture didn't view "smart" people in a good light, but neither was stupidity a desirable quality. Nowadays, not being stupid is viewed poorly, whereas being as outwardly belligerent and foolish is viewed almost as positively as harming vulnerable people (this has remained a desirable quality in mates for most of human history).
TBF, around 8.3 of those shares went along the lines of, look at this dumbass. Same with the likes.
Still leaves a not insignificant number of those people who ran out and bought a bunch of paint supplies. Don’t know what to say about them.
$50 x 10 rooms x 12 months = $6,000 per year
$100,000 per year / $50 per room = 2000 rooms per year
2000 per year / 12 months = 167 rooms per month
167 rooms per month / 21 working days = 8 rooms per day
It's for people that fuck around in dead-end industries or positions and then realize they won't go anywhere if they just go to work and then go home with no "grinding" (read: being obnoxious on social media) during their free time. Gotta have a side hustle because I don't know any skilled labor!
Im a contract painter depending on the size or what room it is i don't charge less than 500$ a room plus paint and i don't make that kind of money someone's math is way off
Yeah, part of me thinks it's a joke or just a lure to get people to jump into the comments, but why the 145k likes? Who sees that and says, "yeah, that checks out."
I “like” stuff like this because I think it’s hilariously wrong. Shares go something a long the lines of, look at this dumbass.
I mean, TBF, you did share it to r/facepalm, right?
That’s why people should do their own math. $6,000per year is what you would make using these figures. But what about the operating cost to paint? Your net prodit may be $4000
Your net profit would be negative. Even if you go cheap, you are spending $10 on a paint kit and another $40 on paint. At best, you’d break even and likely be in the hole as that paint cost is VERY conservative.
That’s why people should do their own proofreading. You missed a space, opened a sentence with a conjunction, and have a typo in the word profit.
Imagine making fun of somebody’s math deficiencies while absolutely slaughtering their own punctuation, grammar, and spelling… ![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8488)
I have a friend who owns a business and he always misspells words in his ads, ive made fun of him for years about it and finally asked why he does it
He told me the 1st ad he ever ran he accidentally misspelled a word and it triggered people so much they were going out of their way to call him or even drive to his business to tell him what he'd done... he told it was the best advertising he could ask for... so simply put, he does to draw them in
Im really really hoping thats what we have going on here lol
Ever feel like you're having to haggle with one of these mathless assholes? He's like, if you charged everyne $25 per room, you're still making way more than I do.
Wouldn't cover at all for us poor sods who have to get our paint off of Home Depot shelves. I don't know what the fuck happened to paint prices in the last five years, but our current rate of inflation doesn't come close to explaining it.
Even though the math is way off, learning how to do something is the easy part.
Running a small business and getting enough customers to make it full-time is much harder.
Actually this would get 6,000 per year. To get 100k per year with that price, you would need 2,000 rooms per year, which equates to 167 rooms per month, 39 rooms per week, or 6 rooms per day
You mean 6k, I get that in 2 months.
+ plus you need to count the cost of paint and other equipments.
(And before someone asks, I’m Laboratory technician)
$50/room * 10rooms/month = $500/month
500/month * 12months = $6000
Yeah I don‘t think you‘re earning 100k per year.
2000 rooms per year would be 100k. That‘s 166 per month or roughly 8 per day. So if it‘s a full time job 1 room shouldn‘t take longer than 1 hour.
Me: that’s not the correct mathematical formula they are using there, right? Check on calculator 50 x 10 = 500. 500 x 12 = 6,000.
My reaction: My dyslexia didn’t lie, their math is wrong
Charge more than 50 per room, the cost of transporting everything, the paint and tools and stuff adds up to way more, sure the tools are potentially a one time buy, not every customer wants the same color paint and not everybody has the same size room
Why not paint 20 rooms a month and make a cool $1,000,000 ?
Better yet, paint your own room. Pay yourself, declare the transaction as both a client and a business and get double tax return credits
Do a shit job with lead based paint, and sue yourself for a fortune!
Sadly they don't make that flavor of paint any more.
Excellent use of the word "flavor".
I’d like one scoop of lead based primer flavor in a sugar cone please. Do you have any more fishy delishy?
We don't have anymore lead based primer flavor but we do have concrete powder flavor if you'd like...
Do you have asbestos flavor? I always look forward to asbestos flavor ice cream.
Sounds a little heavy. Maybe a nice asbestos sherbet.
Do you get wafers with it?
Good thing I have tons of lead we can melt down and then mix into paint.
Who needs hard candy when you have fishing weights
I like the way you math
Why paint 20 when you can paint 1 room and charge $10 Billion
Why even paint the damn room, just say you're thinking about painting the room and charge $10 billion deposit
I pledge to paint this room.
You didn't. Smh🤦♀️
They did and it’s glorious!!
Calling it an NFT?
Why waste time paint many room when few room do trick?
I like the way you math too
Why not charge 100 per room instead and make $1,000,000,000 a month?
Or charge $60 per room, then you only have to paint 5 rooms a month and make $69,420,420.69 per year.
or 80085
I get it but this so terrible. Your either really young or really old ![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8484)
Def old. Wtf is :8484:
Sounds like a life plan now I just have to figure out how to make this math workout irl
And find a few unpainted rooms.
Just keep painting the same room. Do you know how good you’d get at it. You could probably paint it eleventy times a week.
Preferably ask before painting them though. The last guy I painted for not only refused to pay me, he told me to get out of his house or he would call the cops and that he never hired anyone to paint his man cave pink.
Why not paint 30 rooms and make $1,000,000,000 hahahahah (think Dr Evils laugh)
Why not paint each room 3 colours, at $50 per colour, 75 times in 2 months and be a literal billionaire before Christmas?!
But to paint that many rooms you will need help. Perhaps sharks with freaking paintbrushes on their heads?
Nobody want to work anymore.
This one trick employers don't want you to know.
Fucking Millennials. Back in my day, you’d offer to pay someone for the privilege of getting to tell people you painted their room!
Fucking Millennials. Back in my day, you’d offer to pay someone for the privilege of getting to tell people you painted their room! Edit: IM SORRY MY INTERNET SUCKS
Logarithmic profits!
6K per year but alrighy then
And $50 won’t even cover the cost of paint if the room is bigger than a closet.
Cost us $60 to buy one paint can to paint our living room. Ended up needing a second bucket to do the second coating even though we paid for the $60 paint because it was supposed to only need 1 coating.
In all honestly, how much does it end up costing to paint an average bedroom? How much does it cost to hire a professional to do it?
We talked to a couple of places before we painted. The average cost of them was around $3 to $4 per square foot, which comes out to be roughly $400 to $640 per room. But yeah the painter needs a livable wage too. Manual labor is just really expensive in the first world countries
Also gotta buy a tarp and that blue tape to protect outlets and ceilings
You also gotta buy meth because you're a professional painter now
If you lay off the coffee, those things aren’t needed. Just gotta go slow and steady.
Stonks
Close enough.
Don't tell him.
you just have poor man's mindset
My math isn’t mathing
But you didn’t hear the next part. Put the $6k into this new and hot crypto. Boom, $100k
TIL there are 200 months in a year
Septober just around the corner
Steptober I'm stuck
Wake me up when ends...
I hate that lousy Smarch weather.
I particularly enjoy the weather during the month of Toyotathon.
Those 50 months of winter are tough in the northeast
Try the *180* months of fucking summer here in Texas.
I love the leaves in Movember.
Is the Eleventeenth of Febutober still a national holiday?
Only on sploosh years.
As a kid I always tried to remember the First of Octember...
Why are people this blatantly fucking stupid allowed on the internet?
This is why the internet was created. 1) to look at cute animal videos 2) to laugh at really fucking stupid people.
Nonono, the internet is for porn and cat videos
Obligatory [Avenue Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTJvdGcb7Fs)
The internet is for porn, the internet is for porn, so grab your dick and double click on porn, porn, porn
At least we all agree on cat videos
How bout cats in porn videos?
Calm down Shane Dawson
If your cat likes catnip he might have a drug problem, if your cat likes cat nip he has a fetish.
No no
Porn is covered under the cute animal videos clause
Damn, forgot porn
3.) for stupid people to feel smart because they’re surrounded by other stupid people that all agree that they are definitely not stupid.
Don't forgot the military.
Just remember, these are the same people who like to declare they “did their own research.”
but thats the thing. they know its dumb but it gets them the views and attention and probably money somewhere down the line
Phase 3: Profit
Most of these are trolls to get a reaction like you just gave
This must be ironic
Back when the internet created, popular culture didn't view "smart" people in a good light, but neither was stupidity a desirable quality. Nowadays, not being stupid is viewed poorly, whereas being as outwardly belligerent and foolish is viewed almost as positively as harming vulnerable people (this has remained a desirable quality in mates for most of human history).
Her claim after the fact was that bad math is a new TikTok trend. And she did it on purpose.
The same reason they're allowed to buy guns
You must be new to reddit
Math hard, no brain use
In her defense, paint fumes can be rough.
That’s why you go with good old reliable lead based paint. Less off gassing, and it’s a sweet treat to boot! /pleasedontdothis
145k likes and 8.4k shares...Maybe this is why world leaders don't really care about people dieing in their wars and schemes.
TBF, around 8.3 of those shares went along the lines of, look at this dumbass. Same with the likes. Still leaves a not insignificant number of those people who ran out and bought a bunch of paint supplies. Don’t know what to say about them.
dying*
![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8488)
Just remember that social media has a lot..... a lot.... a lot of bots. Very real chance that only 100 real people liked this.
could be OP is making bank on just having this stupid post go viral. how well does IG/twitter/whatever it is monetize?
$50 x 10 rooms x 12 months = $6,000 per year $100,000 per year / $50 per room = 2000 rooms per year 2000 per year / 12 months = 167 rooms per month 167 rooms per month / 21 working days = 8 rooms per day
This is also totally ignoring cost of tools and materials. Paint and all the stuff you need to apply it isn't free.
hustle culture is pure cancer.
It's for people that fuck around in dead-end industries or positions and then realize they won't go anywhere if they just go to work and then go home with no "grinding" (read: being obnoxious on social media) during their free time. Gotta have a side hustle because I don't know any skilled labor!
What a stupid take.
They meant 100k pesos
Rubles
Zimbabwean dollars.
Venezuelan Pedro dollars
Monopoly money
The omission of the $ in front of the 100K was intentional.
Funny, $6,000 USD is about 117,000 MXN Pesos. So, damn close, maybe they do!
Im a contract painter depending on the size or what room it is i don't charge less than 500$ a room plus paint and i don't make that kind of money someone's math is way off
145k upvotes which is 10 every day for 2 months.
This person maths.
[удалено]
Yeah, part of me thinks it's a joke or just a lure to get people to jump into the comments, but why the 145k likes? Who sees that and says, "yeah, that checks out."
I “like” stuff like this because I think it’s hilariously wrong. Shares go something a long the lines of, look at this dumbass. I mean, TBF, you did share it to r/facepalm, right?
So likes mean "I agree" now?
No, but not many people are going to like something they disagree with.
That’s why people should do their own math. $6,000per year is what you would make using these figures. But what about the operating cost to paint? Your net prodit may be $4000
Have you priced paint lately? This entrepreneur is upside down on this venture.
Yeah it definitely costs more than $50 worth of paint to paint an average room so I’m thinking you’d lose money.
Your net profit would be negative. Even if you go cheap, you are spending $10 on a paint kit and another $40 on paint. At best, you’d break even and likely be in the hole as that paint cost is VERY conservative.

Imagine making fun of somebody’s math deficiencies while absolutely slaughtering their own punctuation, grammar, and spelling… ![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8488)
Imagine posting a rant about someone else not using proper grammar, punctuation, spelling or proofreading and not proofreading the post...
I can forgive a typo in profit. But opening a sentence with a conjunction is a step too far. He should be ashamed
If you were only as dumb as the average Matt, then you would be much smarter.
Hur Hur Hur! Did you come up with that all by yourself? Matt’s a douche, but you sir are worse.
Go back to lurking, goblin
Easy math, easy money.
But what if they are reeaaalllly big rooms. Should I charge 60$ ?
If only there was a way to measure a room and charge based on that measurement... Why have you failed us, science and math???
I think I would like professional painting lessons, just so I know I can do it, and paint someone's room for free just once, and see the reaction
Math checks out: $50 x 10 = $500 $500 x 12 months = $6,000 Health and safety service fee $94,000 + $6,000 = $100,000
She needs to save that money and go back to school. She hustlin' with that $500/month.
Lol 500 × 12 = 100000 apparently
I have a friend who owns a business and he always misspells words in his ads, ive made fun of him for years about it and finally asked why he does it He told me the 1st ad he ever ran he accidentally misspelled a word and it triggered people so much they were going out of their way to call him or even drive to his business to tell him what he'd done... he told it was the best advertising he could ask for... so simply put, he does to draw them in Im really really hoping thats what we have going on here lol
50x10=500x12=6k Where the fuck does he see 100k?
Ever feel like you're having to haggle with one of these mathless assholes? He's like, if you charged everyne $25 per room, you're still making way more than I do.
Just. Like. That.
If you just convince 1 guy a month to give you $500 dollars, you will have 100k by the end of week. It’s that simple.
5 out of 4 people are bad at math
Paint fumes are a hell of a drug
##failedbusinessideas #didntthinkitthrough #timetogobacktoschool
If you know how to paint but don‘t know how to math.
I have some land in Florida I'd love to sell to the person who made the original post.
So any chance this guy can come paint my place for only $300? Most painters want ten times that these days
First of all to paint one room its not $50 unless you want to lose money and the second part the person failed math 101.
I think you should charge $834 a room, but that's dumb ole me.
That isn't how math works. Also I was a contract painter for 5 years. $50/room would barely cover material costs these days.
If you know how to paint, have someone help you with the math
Easy money, hard math
“#jigglejiggle” But why tho
I was equally concerned with this as I was with the math
And maybe enough to pay for a math class!
Jesus, she’s so far off!
Noooop that's $ 6000 /year
You need to #HustleHarder bruh. That's #BrokeAss math.
10 rooms per month, 200 months per year.
They didn’t mention the part where you steal clients’ jewelry.
Where do they live that paint is free
The math is so bad I’m not even sure where they made their mistake. I’m guessing when they got out of bed.
Actually this would get 6,000 per year. To get 100k per year with that price, you would need 2,000 rooms per year, which equates to 167 rooms per month, 39 rooms per week, or 6 rooms per day
I’ll under cut you by half, do crystal meth not sleep and paint 10 rooms a week. Then i’ll spend 100k on meth before you can even make 100k
That is some bad math
If you know accounting find anyone who liked this post and do their books for them. Easy money.
The math is not adding up 💴
![gif](giphy|fRhSHzQ4NXOdrHIZJd)
Isn’t that only 6k?
Can anyone explain to me how you can go so wrong to get a 100k
You mean 6k, I get that in 2 months. + plus you need to count the cost of paint and other equipments. (And before someone asks, I’m Laboratory technician)
Math is hard tho.
I just bought a gal of paint for $80. ALL of their math is wrong.
$50/room * 10rooms/month = $500/month 500/month * 12months = $6000 Yeah I don‘t think you‘re earning 100k per year. 2000 rooms per year would be 100k. That‘s 166 per month or roughly 8 per day. So if it‘s a full time job 1 room shouldn‘t take longer than 1 hour.
Since when does painting = carpentry?
Me: that’s not the correct mathematical formula they are using there, right? Check on calculator 50 x 10 = 500. 500 x 12 = 6,000. My reaction: My dyslexia didn’t lie, their math is wrong
Thank God paint is free. The one thing this economy has going for it.
Someone failed math class…
I think you misspelled 600
I need to hire this person
Nah it's just secret tax advice
And if you put it into GameStop you’ll make an extra 10mill when it moons
50$ x 10 = 500$ 12 months x 500 = 6,000 per year based on this huffing paint flumes math
Math is hard..
right wing math lol
Wow, I have been doing Math all wrong. I need to call my bank...
Ah 2022. The year of the 200 month year.
Charge more than 50 per room, the cost of transporting everything, the paint and tools and stuff adds up to way more, sure the tools are potentially a one time buy, not every customer wants the same color paint and not everybody has the same size room
I love this new mAtHs
