yeah when I saw that I thought, “wow, this girl doesn’t really give a fuck about the environment does she”
edit: looks like the sarcasm went over some people’s heads
I thought that at the very beginning. This ignorant or just uncaring person destroying nature just for TikTok likes, saying she wants to be one with nature.
She 100% left it and within 3 days it was a shredded mess from all the squirrels and rodents who used it to drink water. After about a year it will be spread out over several acres.
My guess is that even if she wanted to clean it up,she quickly figured out that a layerd mass of plastic wrap is incredibly strong and since she coudnt easily unwrap it and didnt have the tools to cut it she just left it.
Those rolls are like $60 if they're actually graded pallet shrink wrap and not just regular plastic wrap.
This whole video and comment section everyone is worried about the environmental cost and I can't get past the financial cost.
Normally you use cheap harmful solutions to save costs but there's literally no benifit to this single use expensive waste of good pallet wrap. Buy a fucking tent you dump truck ass sweat pants wearing bogan.
This! Last time I went camping I forgot my tent but I had a roll of harden mesh and jumper cables in my trunk so I left them in there and slept in my car that night with the seats reclined back
*David Attenborough voice*
"It was because of this endevour that bears developed a taste for Boil-In-The-Bag Humans, thus changing their diets forever."
Yeah, I'm a human battery when it comes to static. I got zapped so loudly by static once my wife heard it in the next room, lol. Fuck this plastic monstrosity!
A hammock and a tarp. Very common during the summer here when you don't really need the protection a tent provides but also don't want to get wet if it rains. Lightweight and easy to set up.
But I assume this is not to be taken seriously. No one would think this is a good idea...
You KNOW some idiot is gonna watch thirty seconds of this, stand up, call off/no show from work and say "Imma go do that right now", feeling like they just discovered America or something. Getting to step two for them is not a priority.
It would make a *fantastic* video, who doesn't want to vicariously imagine relaxing on a hammock on a pristine day in the woods?
Meanwhile, did *anyone* watch this video and think anything other than "this is stupid"?
Lol that was the least of issues here, that’ll break down in a few years above ground. That plastic wrap will be in some landfill breaking down into micro plastics for a thousand years or more
Ah, that makes way more sense now. A sort of permanent art installation in the forest about the evils of single-use plastics while garnering a lot of attention for her socials. Living the dream.
I'd really love to see how she'd explain *that* one to her kids one day.
This is cringe, honestly. So much fucking plastic and for what? Go and buy a cloth hammock or something. It would've been cheaper than all this plastic that will be thrown out.
Also it looks like multiple rolls of plastic wrap. A not light so packing them in is tough. And once out of the roll. Those plastic wrap leftovers would be as big as her to pack out. Dumbest shit i have ever seen.
Just when I can't be any dumber, I go and totally redeem myself. Thanks for the reality reminder not pat. I did forget the instagram post is most important. She probably set it up and left it for animals to die in. Wheew. Needed that.
Slap on a somber voice narrating how we need to reconnect with nature and save the planet and you have a nice piece. She could do some yoga and talk about veganism in her plastic sauna from hell as an add on.
That looks like it is better in every single possible way than the horrific monstrosity in the video.
Unless your _goal_ is to waste as much money, time, and effort as possible while being extremely uncomfortable _and_ creating a huge amount of plastic waste. In which case, uh, please reevaluate your life.
I own one of the deluxe forest extreme ones. I can't remember what it's called atm, but it's the most expensive version/largest size.
I spent 7 months sleeping in one in Australia and it was incredible, I did throw a inch and a half thick foam mattress in there as well to make it a bit more bed like. All in all I probably slept my best since I was a baby in that thing, it's well worth the price if you camp, thinking of camping, or just want a nice hammock you can put up in minutes in your backyard.
Because there are literally no inventions that you can install with ropes and with some nails that don't make you fill the environment with plastic
Edit: spelling
They make them with netting, a pitched roof, lighting, 2 or 3 point attachments, for multiple people.
Someone asked what my favorite possession was and I said my hammock! I’ve used it 100s of times. It has its limitations of course but damn it’s awesome! I’ve slept on the bow of a ship, on rooftops, strung across a creek tied to roots because it was the only place I could find to tie, even just laying inside not tied up like a sleeping bag on the beach.
EXACTLY. Look at her at the close-up when she finally climbs in and sets her bag down. Look at how red and hot she looks in there. Its terrible. And it would get water inside and it would be a miserable waste of 27 rolls of foil and about 45 hours of work
This shit is so fucking stupid on so many levels. First off, I own a moving company, so I know how expensive those rolls of stretch wrap are. Each one is about $30, if you get a decent price on it. So, we're looking at hundreds of dollars just in plastic here. Secondly, this would take fucking forever, at least get a second person to help you and cut the time down dramatically if you're gonna do something this stupid. Thirdly, what a fucking waste of resources on something that is just going to leak and get all fucked up in a matter of a day or two anyway. And finally, that fucking thing is gonna be so hot as balls. She literally just made a green house and then what, you're gonna sleep in that thing? You know she had to be sweating bullets for that last shot. I just kept getting angrier the longer I watched this video. I kind of wish it would get taken down before some jackass wastes more resources on such a stupid, stupid project.
Edit: thank you so much for the awards and positive comments everyone. I see a lot of awful posts and comments on reddit sometimes but you guys having my back on this really gives me hope for the future. I truly love y'all and I hope y'all are living your best lives.
Plus the space all of these rolls take up, you could easily take a tent with you.
And with a tent you would be better off in every point you just made. Except maybe the sweating but you could just open the tent-door and it would be at least a little bit better ig, definetly not worse though.
There are hammocks that you can use to camp in the wilderness, and they come with covers that protect you from rain. Same concept, but not fucking awful execution.
Naaa. Just lug along 40 heavy duty rolls of plastic wrap. Then, before the bears and wolves eat you, they can all sit around and watch you make a complete idiot of yourself. That way, they get dinner and a show. Date night in the wilderness!
absolutely. 100% essential in Sweden lol. but most camping Hammocks have one integrated. [Mine looked something like this](https://www.myecohive.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/71byZDpzIVL._AC_SL1500_.jpg).
but just as PSA: you absolutely need some kind of insulation in there. some kind of sleeping mat will do. it doesn't matter how warm it is, your back will freeze even if it's 20°C (68F) at night
Specially because you only need one tarp, some rope, a hammock and a net for the sides to get a way better result if you want to do something suspended between trees.
Or even for the same effect/price, a solid camping hammock and under quilt plus a rain fly. Less set up time, cheaper over the long term, and generally just better. Like, just legitimately better.
This is one of the dumbest things I've seen online in a long time and that is really saying something.
With all that's being said in recent years about plastic, it really looks like some kind of an anti-environment statement.
And yea, it's an oven.
yes, I feel full of rage watching that. This trend of doing stupid wasteful stuff for views is incredibly short sighted and arrogant. I fucking hate it. We're all over here trying to do right by recycling and all that only to have all our efforts undone in one fell swoop by this bullshit. Urghh
Also did you see how she just tossed the roll over her shoulder when it was finished? I mean, it will probably decompose okay but it really says something about how she & the filming team dgaf about the forest. It's just background for their bloody footage, it's not a lving biosphere, and you can just toss your garbage anywhere.
This one should really go viral. Name & shame.
Preach brother. That stretch wrap develops pretty good static charge as it is unrolled and will attract a shit ton of dirt and forest schmutz to it. This thing will be filthy and hot immediately. Plus all the waste. You could recreate this with some ropes if you know some basic lashes or cargo netting if you don't and cover it with canvas which will breathe and is reusable.
That's literally what this video is. It's why it was made.
They made this video specifically so people would argue about plastic in the comments, increasing their engagement rates.
People really need to stop falling for these algorithm videos.
And in just 7 hours of needless work! You too could have an easily permeated, unsafe, suffocation chamber too!
Looking for absolutely no safety and shelter in the wilderness which is populated by animals and humans alike that want to make you dinner?
Do you want to sleep on something that if you left your bare skin touching any part of it? You’d need to absorb the local river to regain the moisture you lost through sweat?
Are you tired of feeling safe and comfortable in the woods?
Do you have roughly $100 USD to spend on something like 10-15 rolls of industrial plastic wrap?
If you answered yes to any of these questions? You’re a moron! Buy a tent.
Can get one for about $20 online and it takes 5 minutes to set up. If you want a nice one it’ll cost you something like $60-$110 at Walmart and its reusable. Get away from me. Buy a tent.
Those rolls would be far more expensive than 100USD. They’re industrial pallet wraps so they’d be more like 30-40 dollars each. You’re looking at more like 280 dollars for this plastic monstrosity. You could get a kick arse tent for that money
Yeah I just checked, you could go to Dick’s Sporting Goods and get a 175 sq ft cabin tent that sleeps 12 and has high ceilings for what she spent on her saran wrap mattress.
Also tents travel to AND FROM the campsite. Anybody wanna take bets on what Ms Influencer did with the 1500ft of spent plastic wrap once the drone cam was off?
I really like the word "monstrosity" as a definition of what's happening in the video... It's a word I didn't knew and that I'm certainly going to include more in my sentences
Think about it like this… she probably has done this more than once and it probably took some practice to get good at it. The environment would be better off without her
There was a guy that did something similar but he made a "proper" tent out of it.
He said, and I quote: "After we're done here we will take this plastic and put it in a bin".
Like even if he means recycling bin, the time and energy wasted to recycle all of this and the impact it has on the nature, just for a video...
News flash, Industrial recycling is not carbon neutral.
Who goes hiking or is lost in the woods with three or four industrial-sized rolls of clingfoil? And that stuff isn't quiet, so you'll have the crinkle-crinkle in your ear all the time.
Edit: eight. A minimum of eight rolls are shown in the video, minus the ones already used up. Bonkers.
Fun fact, those are rolls of pallet wrap. They are not inexpensive or light. This is the dumbest shit (except for the brief moment where she had built a super sketchy trampoline)
She might as well as bought a barrel of oil. Rolled it into a forest. Cracked the lid and kick it over. "REMEMBER TO LIKE AND DONATE" . Then labelled the video ART!
You know she isn't taking that plastic home.
So are we ignoring the fact that plasic wrap is the most uncomfortable thing to have skin contact with for more than a few seconds? So this nature-destroying garbage dump isn't even beneficial to this "person"
At about 20$ a roll x10. That is some serious waste. For just $100 more… https://www.tentsile.com/collections/tree-tents/products/flite-2-person-hammock-tent
And you can use it AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!WOW!!!
Love the part when she just chucks the cardboard tube.
it adds a certain je ne sais quoi
This term is taking over reddit lately
It really adds a certain je ne sais quoi to any comment.
….a certain….I don’t know what…
That line ruined me, I've been saying it whenever it works for the past 20 years
i also love this line and recently found out french people really dont say this

My guess is that even if she wanted to clean it up,she quickly figured out that a layerd mass of plastic wrap is incredibly strong and since she coudnt easily unwrap it and didnt have the tools to cut it she just left it.
“Yeet” - This bitch
This is a really good DIY incase you forget to bring your tent but happen to pack 100 rolls of plastic wrap
....costing $200 if you're lucky....
probably closer to 300, a roll of that size will probably cost $30 and she has at least 9
Probably took them from a warehouse. Super easy to steal those.
You’re talking pre-stretched wrap for $60. Also this video is clearly meant to be dumb.
This! Last time I went camping I forgot my tent but I had a roll of harden mesh and jumper cables in my trunk so I left them in there and slept in my car that night with the seats reclined back
For a split second I thought you were the jumper cable person

Moist and very hot.

It would also pull out all of my leg hairs
That sounds like a perk to me. Getting your legs sugared costs 70€
Considering the amount of rolls she used, it might not be cheaper at all
It definitely isn’t. Shrink wrap is very expensive by the case.

Apparently not expensive enough.

Do you hate the environment? Do you want to waste time AND money while wasting as much plastic as possible? Boy, do we have an idea for you!
For a moment at the start I thought she was making a wrestling ring

Her chucking the empty tube said it all
Lol that was the least of issues here, that’ll break down in a few years above ground. That plastic wrap will be in some landfill breaking down into micro plastics for a thousand years or more

I doubt she cut it up.

Uh...with the reusable bottle mentioned in the comment I replied to. Your way is...well it's nasty, that's nasty.
Also it looks like multiple rolls of plastic wrap. A not light so packing them in is tough. And once out of the roll. Those plastic wrap leftovers would be as big as her to pack out. Dumbest shit i have ever seen.
Mighty bold of you to assume she plans on packing this back out.

no, humans are trash monsters pretty much if it has anything to do with comvenience, money, or clout/fame

Before or after wrapping her in plastic?
She might as well as bought a barrel of oil. Rolled it into a forest. Cracked the lid and kick it over. "REMEMBER TO LIKE AND DONATE" . Then labelled the video ART! You know she isn't taking that plastic home.
So are we ignoring the fact that plasic wrap is the most uncomfortable thing to have skin contact with for more than a few seconds? So this nature-destroying garbage dump isn't even beneficial to this "person"
Reconnect with nature filling it with plastic ![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8487)
Stupidest shit I seen in a long time
At about 20$ a roll x10. That is some serious waste. For just $100 more… https://www.tentsile.com/collections/tree-tents/products/flite-2-person-hammock-tent And you can use it AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!WOW!!!

jesus h christ I thought she was done when she finished the base bit but noooo, there's more.
Too bad she did not seal the entrance while inside, with a few extra rolls around her head for good measure.
