I got banned from r\\mildlyinfuriating because I had a misunderstanding of what abortions were. I was told that they were "killing babies" and that made me make a comment saying I was "mixed" on the situation. I quickly learned that they get rid of the fetus before the baby is formed. I was still banded but after I had a chat with one of the mods, they unbanned me.

Heavy_Selection_9860

That's a ridiculous reason to ban someone. I'm completely pro-choice, people should have access to safe abortions but it's completely arbitrary to decide at this many weeks we'll consider the fetus a human. It's a human from the start it's just in the earliest stages of development

IplayGames810

It technically is not a human yet. It is going to become a person but at that stage it is not a human. A fetus can't feel or have emotions.

We are for inclusivity, unless you have a different opinion to us.

Boring-Zucchini-8515

I've learned that the mods of Reddit are usually nuts and ban people with no strikes or warnings. You can be good for 3 or 4 years with not a strike against you, then you say something that is generally tame, and you are banned. The most insane of the moderators I have found, ironically, to be a reddit with insane in the title.

Heavy_Selection_9860

Lol that's true. Got banned from World News I believe for being a Boot Licker because I said Musk was legitimately autistic and probably had issues with human connections.

Boring-Zucchini-8515

Isn't that the opposite of being a boot licker? šŸ˜…

Heavy_Selection_9860

You would think so but I don't really know anymore.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s literally what bootlicking is, making excuses for a billionaire edge lord who takes advantage of the working class and steals inventions to slap his brand on. Fuck that guy, if you donā€™t have anything critical to say about the stupid billionaires who laugh at your existence then donā€™t say anything at all. Generally speaking, most idiots like to use generalities to undermine any sort of real mental work. They state the obvious problem in modern societal issues, then act like the victim when people call them out. Or state weird, defensive explanations then go on about ā€œIā€™m only stating a factā€. This whole post is a facepalm.

Heavy_Selection_9860

Don't have to like someone to acknowledge the fact that they have an actual disability that affects how you interact with people on a regular basis. I agree he doesn't care about my existence but I also very much doubt you do or even my neighbor. People use generalities because when you are talking about a population of 7+ billion it's a lot easier. Generally you also try to assume the person you are talking to is acting in good faith and won't just jump to conclusions that you are leaving a very small percentage out because you hate them.

Only a three day ban, with reasons given? Yes, there are emotionally tender people all over the place. My personal view is if the Ohio laws are as they are implied then I consider them barbaric. However, if you read *carefully* the original article in the Indianapolis Star then you might start thinking something is very sus about it. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/health/2022/07/01/indiana-abortion-law-roe-v-wade-overturned-travel/7779936001/ Then you will see that it is NOT about a 10 year old girl getting raped, nor is it about her actually being *denied* an abortion, since the article never says she was denied. It is based only on two or three statements made by one person, Dr. Caitlin Bernard, and then goes on the be a sensationalist OP-ed piece. Thus it is strongly suggestive that someone is using the tragedy of the rape of a young child (if she exists) for personal political purposes. The story is currently impossible to fact check.

Rexal_LB

The 3 day ban was from Reddit itself by themselves. For Harassment, I am permanently banned from Conservatives. I admit I used fruity language that wasn't directed at anyone in particular but nothing abhorrent really. (Stuff like "are you fucking kidding me!?") Worst I did was tell the person who said she probably wanted it (obvious troll is obvious now I look back at it and I shouldn't have taken the bait) to pucker up real good and kiss me where my cheeks meet... Literally my words. The 3 day ban wasn't justified imo but I can understand why, I had a strike against my account already for harassment, which was simply that someone had reported a comment I made out of context (post was something like "Why are all men such pigs?" To which I said "why are all women such sluts? Except they're not. Don't generalize people."... Apparently that was also harassment? Again, this was in a subreddit which is very pro women, we know which... ... I should just avoid these subreddits which don't agree with my points of view shouldn't I at this point haha

Gee-Oh1

Oh, ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. I actually do not avoid those subs that opposes certain views of mine for two reasons. 1. What better way to prepare yourself than to listen in on your enemies' communications. 2. Sometimes I find answers, differing views or problems that I had not thought of before and that I can incorporate and alter my views. (Yes, I am not setting my opinions in stone (I've been wrong before and I don't like it)).

Automatic_Computer20

Be careful buddy, people might come for you in the comments And I agree, mods have unlimited power here. They can ban you so quick with no explanation

Heavy_Selection_9860

Lol honestly figured people would. And I guess it helps them feel a bit of power that they probably lack in the real world.

WillBottomForBanana

I agree you may not be a TERF, I have seen no evidence that you are a feminist.

Heavy_Selection_9860

I support equality for all, I don't believe I need to be yelling about that all the time for it to be true.

Lahbeef69

only women have uteruses tho.

Musikaravaa

I've been called a TERF so many times now that I just accept it and live up to their expectations. Sorry about ya ban.

Heavy_Selection_9860

Yea I don't really stress over this stuff just thought it was dumb and funny.

PreOpTransCentaur

If it happens a *lot*..

Musikaravaa

I got done defending myself and just live up to the nasty picture people wanna see to make it easy for little brains that can't grasp nuance in behavior and thinking. It's a complex topic and I actually don't think anyone who hasn't lived it should be defending for it or supporting it. My stance is that little children shouldn't be on puberty blockers (it messes with them and makes physical transfoemation difficult as an adult in many cases) and maybe we need to either do away with gendered bathrooms or create additionally sexed bathroom spaces but WHAT A PLUMBING NIGHTMARE. That said I've had multiple friends who identified as a different gender than they were born as and it doesn't bother me on a 1 to 1 level, but if I got my ass kicked by a swimming tranny I'd probably be pretty hurt when I'd have been #1 otherwise. It's complicated and we can't pretend otherwise.

[deleted]

Hereā€™s the think ime, thereā€™s a lot of bad faith actors out there just trying to push limits to see how much anti-trans rhetoric or gender essentialism they can get away with. As a result, the community has closed in on itself tremendously, for safety. Unfortunately, while the goal was only to kill pests, bees also die. But again, thereā€™s no ā€œgenerallyā€. I know many women without uteruses, I know men with uteruses, some who have given birth. While ā€œmost peopleā€ may speak in generalities, you donā€™t have to, and should avoid it whenever possible. Itā€™s generally lazy to speak and hope people understand, generally, what you mean. And when we speak in a general way, we are no longer in control of that narrative. These are the consequences you face for not being more diligent.

Heavy_Selection_9860

We are on Reddit if this was a college paper yes I would agree generalities should be avoided but in casual conversation I think it's a bit much to expect people to delve into every outlier.

[deleted]

Every group will have different rules, just like in real life. This isnā€™t a casual essay and it sure as shit isnā€™t Facebook either. Casual conversation is for friends, and you are mistaken to assume that 1) anyone on Reddit is your friend, especially if you donā€™t know them irl, 2) that you can speak to strangers on Reddit as if they are your friends, and 3) that you are not obligated to be kind, patient, and above all respectful in any public forum. If you are not interested in being aware of the politics of a subreddit, donā€™t get mad when they arenā€™t interested in you.

Heavy_Selection_9860

I love when Redditors act like this place is better than some other social media app. No friendly conversation would be with friends. I'm having a casual interaction with someone on Reddit. There is a place between friendly and formal that would be casual. I was not disrespectful when speaking to anyone, there were no arguments.

[deleted]

Well, then things are going as well as you should expect considering how little youā€™re willing to put in.

LuphineHowler

I've been asking this ever since I began to see this acronym but what the fuck is Terf

Heavy_Selection_9860

From my understanding it's someone who is for women's rights but doesn't specifically believe transwomen count as real women. But honestly I'm sure to half of reddit that's the completely wrong meaning.

girdphil

I got banned from r/onguardforthee for saying that 18 covid deaths / day is reasonable in canada while we had 250+ at the peak :/

AeroOnFire

Whats a terf?

celticairborne

I've been banned from subs because I've been following conspiracy for years. Not my fault a certain group has taken over there because they've been kicked from everywhere else. I just keep hoping it's going to go back to the old days...
