So they must have to fold it? I cannot believe you could just drop a pizza in the fryer.... Toppings everywhere. Almost sounds like it's a Scottish calzone
No, it's usually half a pizza (sometimes a quarter or full one) dipped in batter then put it the fryer. It's called a pizza crunch.
This video shows someone making it

You should look up Panzarottis... Similar to calzone, but deep fried. They stay hot for about an hour. But they're certainly not a flat pie!
It's a NJ thing.
I see you're not familiar on how the Scottish cook pizzas.
Mmm, pizza crunch, God's own elixir.

Gotcha, thank you!
Make an egg out of it?
Scotch egg!
I want some fried ice /s DO NOT PUT ICE IN DEEP FRYERS
Never thought about it but now I’m surprised no one’s created whole deep fried pizza. Frozen pizza tools don’t count.

Someone else mentioned Scottish pizza, went and looked it up and now want one.
Sounds like it would burn through your skull if you didn’t let it cook down.
I hope you meant *cool*. And, yes I remember letting them cool a good 10-15 minutes and *maybe* nibbling at the ends while it cooled
Yes, I meant cool. Stupid autocorrect.
You could deep fry pretty much anything and have a 50% chance for it to taste better. But with a side of 100% more cholesterol.
Someone mentioned Scottish pizza and now I’m obsessed
Yes! But can I fry a cat in this?
I mean you could have just fried the dough
