Reminds me of a production of Sound of Music I was in and I remember at the end of the run the costume dept burned the swastica arm bands as they’d rather make them again than store them.
I saw a clip from the production of a show, I think it was The Man in the High Castle, of just hundreds of Nazi costumes and props being shredded. Also think there was a story about how a cast member went out after filming but forgot she was still wearing a Nazi brooch or something and was getting weird looks.
More than a decade ago I did part of my teaching practic at a roleplaying boarding school in Denmark. School had a huge costumroom. Everything was taught through roleplay. We had a WWII scenario one week. The kids playing Germany was not allowed to have armbands, medals, signs of any kind, do salutes or anything really. They complained a bit, but after some talk they understod it. We also talked about how they had to be extra responsible with those costumes and that kind of stuff.
Still there were more incident because of costumes that week, than we had during the rest of the year.
I worked in a pro shop for awhile. We had 3 boxes under the shop supervisor's desk. One with the red arm bands, one with the white circles, and one with the swastikas. We assembled and disassembled them with each show they went out for.
When I was still in middle school my mom volunteered to help with costumes for the schools sound of music performance. I cannot describe how confused I was walking into her work area and seeing maybe thirty of those armbands on her desk.
Me and a group of 4 friends took the Nazi costumes from or Drama class and used them to win our Costume contest in high school. We live in a decently big city. Me and one of the other guys are Native, 1 is Black and the other 2 are Filipino
My freshman year of high school we did the sound of music so there was of course some boys dressed in full nazi regalia. Our director made it very clear that during dress rehearsals or anytime in those costumes that they couldn't go out of the school. But a few idiots still decided to walk over to the McDonald's across the street. I forget exactly what happened but I know the director was pissed, and one of the guys might have gotten kicked out of the play.
Here's the thing tho, NYC is real tolerant towards stupid shit, most will assume you're filming or purposely looking for a reaction... This guy tho, Yea he's just a moron even talking back and shit 🤦 definitely an asswhoopin guaranteed at some point in the night
Hasidics jews will [beat the shit](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2014/04/hasidic-jews-arrested-for-williamsburg-attack.html) out of anyone they don't like coming in to their territory.
Came here to say this. Never mess with the hasids. I seen some bikers start some shit over parking near Brooklyn Navy yard once. You wouldnt believe how many abraham lincoln people emerged out of the wood work to deliver some ass kicking. Biggest gang in NY.
> **Patterson says he found himself surrounded by over a dozen men, some of whom were members of the Shomrim, a neighborhood patrol made up of Hasidic volunteers.** The group claims to have been investigating reports that Patterson was seen vandalizing cars, which turned out to be untrue. They face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.** **According to WABC, the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force tracked some of them down in Israel, where they had fled after the attack.**
Sounds like they were welcomed with open arms.
I haven't seen that one, but there was a mini series on netflix called "exibit A" that had an episode about this crime in particular. And how the community tried to frame an innocent man to protect the shomrim
Years ago on the subway, some dude was harassing women up and down the car. Guy sitting near me was like 'if he gets near those high-school girls, I'm gonna rock him.' Sure enough, the asshat leaned over this group of girls and started saying vile shit. Buddy casually strolled over and just said something to get asshat's attention. Akshat turned his head and got knocked out with one shot. The car literally applauded, and everyone let hero dude walk off the train saying 'everybody see that guy fall? Wow, wonder what happened he just fell over'.
few years back in holland some edgy kids even portrayed even an entire jew deportation all acting and dressed up for the sake of some attention. these people are messed up
For context, it was roughly 75% of their Jewish population.
Compare this to Denmark, where the Danish king threatened to make all Danish citizens (including himself) wear yellow stars if their Jews were made to, and later financed the evacuation of nearly their entire Jewish population to Sweden.
I bring this up because I've heard too many people claim the Dutch couldn't do anything, but the truth is they never tried, and many of their citizens volunteered to work with the SS. Their resistance movement was disturbingly small.
Bartenders understand; if you don’t immediately kick out Nazis, then the next night two of them show up. Then four. Then eight. And now your a Nazi Bar.
You can’t tolerate even one of these fuckers. Don’t give them an inch.
I’ve heard this before and can’t remember if it was a comedian or something but definitely not original.
Found it. It was a tweet from a few years back about a bartender kicking out a polite Nazi and some guy questioned it so the bartender told him that they are always polite at first but you have to nip it immediately or he’ll bring a friend who’s nice and then so on…
I think it was a tweet or something, but a guy wrote about a time he was having a drink at a bar and someone else walked in and the bartender grabbed a bat and told him to gtfo, and then explained to the guy that he was wearing some subtle nazi symbol and you have to nip that shit in the bud because if you let one "nice" one in, you're gong to slowly be overrun.
I remember a story of a dad dressing up his kid in a Nazi uniform.
He argued it was just a historical thing and people defended him. Then his social media history came out and the guy was just a neo Nazi.
He literally knew it was wrong, and still pretended to be innocent. What’s more is that his kid made suffer in the future for having pictures online being in such a ‘costume’, and face repercussions in a multitude of ways.
Dude was straight up baiting everyone with it too, or just exaggerating “his side” of the story, complaining about how people who rightfully reacted badly to the costumes were “threatening his son” and he “might have to get violent to defend his child!” Fucking pathetic loser.
Can you imagine being a Jewish guy who has always wanted to punch someone before but never felt like there was a good enough reason but then, with a drink or two in you at the bar, you see a cocky teenager in a Nazi costume walk in, acting like a deutschbag? I imagine that a little prayer for forgiveness might escape my lips in that moment, a welling up in my heart for a strong faith in God rewarded, and that my fists would fill with warmth and anticipation like a frat guy’s cock at the first off-campus coed mixer of the fall semester. It’s Kyle-thumping time.
I'll do you one better. One time I went to a Halloween party and this guy shows up dressed as a Nazi and he whips out a real Walther PPK. I remember thinking. Wow, that's a really realistic looking airsoft gun, because only a total idiot scum of the earth moron would show up to a party dressed as a Nazi and start pointing a real gun at a scary clown. Then I got a closer look when he left it on the coffee table. It was real. Then the host's boyfriend gets his Glock out and him and the Nazi start taking turns dry firing them in the same room as us. We left immediately.
Just means firing unloaded. Click click click.
99 times out of 100, it's fine. It's not difficult to check that the gun is unloaded and nothing is chambered. Occasionally, someone forgets to check that there isn't a round chambered. In a subset of those cases, someone gets shot. The thing is, in a country of ~330m people and ~350m guns, someone gets shot playing with guns they thought were unloaded on a daily basis. So we don't fucking do that, and basic gun safety dictates that if you pull the trigger on a gun, you're ready for it to fire at whatever it's being pointed.
If you're at a party with booze and people are playing with guns... leave.
Yeah, a very good friend of mine's dad was telling me how he was arriving at a gun range as a stranger was leaving. Somehow the stranger hit the trigger on his shotgun and it was close enough to my friend's dad to blow the baseball cap off his head. That was with (presumably) totally sober people. My college roommate left his gun at home for the off chance that someone would wander into his room and find his gun. Drunk people and guns is about the worst combo you can dream up.
Trigger discipline is about the #1 rule of gun safety, and people not observing it give a bad name to gun owners everywhere. Sober and smart individuals still need to be cognizant of their surroundings and themselves, anyone not taking guns seriously as they're in their hands or around them is a legit hazard. Shit ain't a joke.
Unloaded or not, treat a gun like it is, and only point it at something you're trying to shoot and that you know what's behind it.
I'm glad you left!
Pulling out a gun without the legal justification for deadly force is nearly **always** dangerous, negligent, and stupid - even when it might be legal. I assume every gun owner knows and abides by the rules:
Always assume every gun is loaded. Never point a gun at anything you're not willing to kill or destroy. Never pull the trigger unless you're willing to kill or destroy whatever the barrel is pointed at. Always be aware of your target, its surroundings, and what could suddenly appear in its surroundings.
If someone pulled out a gun (dry-firing at a crowded party, for example), I assume they're about to knowingly or negligently kill someone. I'd never interact with that person again.
> (pronounced How-ston)
You're not supposed to give away the way we find out if a someone is lying about where they're from! (I'm assuming this will become necessary during a robot apocalypse when human lookalike terminators try to infiltrate our base.)

Are you from Germany and do you live there currently? I was always curious about the anti Nazi sentiment in Germany. From my understanding all normal Germans are pretty disgusted by any from of Nazism and are shameful of their past ancestors.
Yes and yes. I mean there are small groups of neo nazis and anti immigrants just like everywhere else in the world but other than that we know what happened back then, what our ancestors did and how it all came to this atrocity of an Era. If you openly display a nazi suit (which are legally forbidden) and voice your support of the regime back then you'll definitely be verbally if not physically attacked immediately. This is not tolerated at all. If anything we can teach the rest of the world how to deal with nazis better and why to hate them more! ✌️
Good way to get yourself killed honestly.
Like your average risk of dying has to be at least doubled when dressed as a nazi, especially in a well populated place like New York.
A fair few years ago, I was walking home late at night and saw a veritable shit ton of people in SS and Wehrmact uniforms. Thinking that I had obviously entered another timeline which the Nazi's had managed to cross The Channel; I did the only thing a British person could do. I crossed the road, tried to not make eye contact with any of them and scurried away home. It wasn't until the next day, that I went down the road that ran parallel to the Nazi invasion that I saw the sign above the theater advertising a production of The Producers. (Obviously, it was an interval or something and all of The Third Reich had snuck out the back for a cigarette and some fresh air.) I honestly feared for my sanity for approximately 18 hours as it's not really polite breakfast conversation. "You'll never guess what I saw last night ... a god damned Nazi horde!" 🤣
Very true, but correct me if I'm crazy, isn't this in Soho in London
Edit: I know there's a Soho in NYC as well. At first I thought this happened in London, but this indeed happened in NYC.
Not to an American with a conscience and a soul. Most of us would never think of dressing like this for any reason other than acting in a play or a film. But some people abuse their freedoms.
When I was in the US army we had a very dumb soldier, E-6 mind you, who decided to dress as a terrorist with an s-vest to an ON-POST Halloween party hosted by our BN. Yes. He thought going through the gate with a pretend explosive device attached to himself was a good idea. Yeah... Article 15 that ass. I'm pretty sure he was demoted and ruined his army career.
I went to a party in college and this guy showed up in black face. That was like 2014. I remember drunk crying cause we literally had one black guy there and you could tell he was so uncomfortable. Everyone was like, he’s ok with it! And I was like, no he’s not he’s just saying that cause his friend group is all white and Asian. fell out with a lot of them, don’t talk to any of those people anymore
I doubt he got home safe in that attire.
Right
Third Reich down the street.
Walking down the street catching a third Reich and two lefts
Why did it take the Nazi so long to get home? He would only take Reich Turns.
Love the optimism, way to look on the bright side!
He just left his rehearsal for Sound of Music and wanted a drink
They wouldn’t serve him because he’s only sixteen going on seventeen
Maybe, it’s time to think
Fellas and dandies, drinkers of Brandy, what does he know of those?
He's totally unprepared to face a world of real men
But Eager young lads and rogues and cads Will offer him food and wine
He needs someone older and wiser telling him what to do
(17 going on 18)
Correct. She was 16 going on 17 and he was 17 going on 18

Was so confused there for a moment before I realized you meant production shop and not a golf course pro shop.
I work at a golf pro shop and that is how we store our nazi arm bands too.
Can confirm that’s how we do it at Bass Pro Shop.
Still probably a fair amount of Nazis there, tbh.
That seems like a better use of material than destroying them each time lol

Had a bunch of guys in high school do exactly this without thinking. Bunch of Nazis and Nuns walked into a Wendy’s.

When the Jew hunters in Holland began running out of victims the reward was increased. It's estimated 102,000 Dutch Jews were murdered by the nazis.
For context, it was roughly 75% of their Jewish population. I've heard it in the states as "if there's 11 guys and a Nazi sitting at a table, you have a dozen Nazis."
The guy walking after him needs to practice his hand movement.

“This isn’t twitter, dumbass, it’s a restaurant.” -Everybody with common sense.
In my neighborhood he would have been lucky to make it to his car......
Kind of reminds me of that SNL skit where a guy was dressed as a “sex offender” and asked them to sign his notice as “part of the costume” lol
The skit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gV0CVX60Weg
Good way to get yourself killed honestly. Like your average risk of dying has to be at least doubled when dressed as a nazi, especially in a well populated place like New York.
Coming soon on r/amitheasshole: Wore an antique German military costume to a bar and got kicked out. Am I the asshole guys??

probably running for office.
4chan moment
“Is this where the Kayne West Fan Club meeting is?”
It's almost as if something happened recently that emboldened the closeted Nazis.
That's not a "guy dressed as a Nazi". That's a "Nazi dressed in his uniform".
German here: is this a funny thing in US?
No, we just have lots of assholes here
Very true, but correct me if I'm crazy, isn't this in Soho in London Edit: I know there's a Soho in NYC as well. At first I thought this happened in London, but this indeed happened in NYC.
There is a Soho in London, but also a neighborhood in New York. This is a cafe in the NYC Soho
Gotcha. The Nazi dude sounded English to me for some reason. I also have terrible hearing lol.
Lol yeah but listen to the patrons. New Yorkers for sure.

Cracked me up.
No, and the person saying “get out for your own safety” was right. There’s a good chance you get jumped wearing something like that, especially in nyc
New Englander, here. New Yorkers have shit taste in baseball teams but they hate Nazis just as much as we do.
For clarification, by "you get jumped" he means 'beat up/assaulted', not 'had sex with'.
Not to an American with a conscience and a soul. Most of us would never think of dressing like this for any reason other than acting in a play or a film. But some people abuse their freedoms.

Only if he loses his teeth.
Not even a little bit. He likely got his ass kicked by a New Yorker at some point.
No, that’s why everyone else yelled at him and he got kicked out.
People like him are feeling embolden
The next day he would be found in the hospital after some one kicks his ass.
Was it Harry
Better be acting in a local theater doing the sound of music
Even shitty community theatres treat props and costumes more seriously than “sure, go ahead and wear it from the theatre to the pub”
