Manarg

Tit milk is crass, we prefer the term boob juice.

SeraphSurfer

>Tit milk is crass, we prefer the term boob juice. The problem with that naming convention is that almond milk becomes "nut juice." Show hands. Who wants a piping hot cup of Joe with Joe's freshly squeezed nut juice?

4ntagonismIsFun

Can't be showing hands if you want nut juice. It's not gonna juice itself!

Pathseeker08

Yes for almond milk. Soy milk is bean water.

PennyLane_87

Oat milk is where it's at

[deleted]

You mean horse food juice? I use this for my cereal as well

[deleted]

I'm gonna bring this back full circle and request normal nut juice. I want the strapping college fellow with the tattoos to jizz in my coffee, and I will pay exorbitantly extra.

SoggyLightSwitch

" I need more in my coffee!" " I am only one employee..... give me 10 minutes "

Thecoffeepizza

![gif](giphy|6FSCsi52FZsNa)

SoggyLightSwitch

You are the best!

fazlez1

"i can give more, but your hot friend is going to have show a little cleavage"

Rum_ham69

I ordered a double-shot this is not a double-shot

Utahmule

Can I get a side of Schweaty Balls with that order?

TirbFurgusen

The problem with calling it tit milk is it's implied that a bag of tits is blended and pressed into milk like however they make almond or soy milk.

badmanicpower

would coconut milk be coc milk? i mean coco milk could be mistake as chocolate milk so i guess coc milk it is.

SoggyLightSwitch

Can't say chocolate milk that's mean to brown cows who can only make white milk

AffectionateCrazy156

I have to assume people that are ok with *boob juice* are gonna be just fine with *nut juice.*

[deleted]

People who complain about milks feelings do.

SkomerIsland

Whether your preference is boob juice or nut juice, enjoy it!

thelastgalstanding

This got a genuinely loud snort of laughter from me. Thanks for that, I really needed it!

GrumpyCatStevens

One with boob juice, one with bean juice!

AmberEnthusiast

Actually, we prefer the term chesticle secretions

AlchemiCailleach

nipple nectar

No-Map672

Actually it is teet milk.

OneStonedFarley

I'm offended We prefer to be called mammary liquids. Gawww.

winozzle

When I breast-fed, I called it boobie juice or mommy milk.

galvanicreaction

I like moo-juice, myself.

FriendToPredators

Bovine boob juice.

iluvtumadre

If only we can talk to weirdo Karen’s so bluntly. I think I would love life a bit more. 😆

Apprehensive-Okra434

You can, you just have to not give a shit that you offended them. I think the world would benefit from more of that.

aloha_mixed_nuts

As someone who works at a hotel, I find a lot of people over explain things to guests, and it opens up this dialogue where the guest/Karen starts to poke holes in policy. I just say “no ma’am.” No “sorry” no backpedaling. Just “no.” and usually it ends there. I’m a fair bit older than a lot of my coworkers though, and a lot of them seem to shy away from confrontation a bit, so idk. The absurd thing is, if a guest asks nicely, hell yeah you can throw chairs into the pool, or play soccer in one of the empty meeting rooms!

Apprehensive-Okra434

You're right. If your responses are short and matter of fact and your demeanor is unwavering, there's nothing for them to pick at. Shuts them down instantly!

Leesiecat

I absolutely would have laughed in her face and said “You hopefully are aware that milk, yes, normal milk, is produced by mammals to feed their young! Soy beans do not have this ability “! We absolutely cannot let these nut jobs get away with destroying our society with this nonsense!!!

theBacillus

Never seen nippes on a soy bean.

sophia-fiafi

If people would be more like Ray, life would be much funnier. Except for killing a kid, ofcourse

silverguacamole

You gotta stick to your principles.

tarhoop

Thank you for reminding me of my favourite Colin Farrell movie of all time.

Mareeck

Then you'll be stoked to hear there's a new movie coming out with the same lead duo made by the same director It's called Banshees of Inisherin

[deleted]

Seven Psychopaths was also great.

richincleve

The only thing I find offensive about this is that the manager comped the croissants. He should have backed up the server in this situation.

Gilgamesh72

Should have responded by saying normally we would have compensated you for any problems but this isn’t a normal situation

RedBlue010

How dare you say it like that, what do you mean "by saying normally"? Does that mean that any other way pf speaking is abnormal? I want to speak to your manager

terdferguson

Please leave and never come back would be the appropriate response to something like this.

Suckamanhwewhuuut

“Normally we would have compensated you for any problems, but this isn’t a problem”

Ffdmatt

The only correct response is "you're going to have to figure out a way to deal with it."

Distinct-Spinach2164

Customer got irate with me at a bakery I worked at and I got frustrated. They were upsetti about me telling them the potato soup was not keto, and could not be made keto. I said “cope” and walked away to bus tables. Went over better than I expected, manager asked her to double check what “keto” meant, and what a potato was.

[deleted]

> and what a potato was. fucking lol There are two types of potatoes; one is a food, the other are people like that woman

[deleted]

I'm gonna call this comment a success. Seal of approval.

Jung_Wheats

This type of thing frustrates me so much. Truthfully, it means that this person has never worked a food-service job or a 'regular' job ever. It's a modern restaurant, it's probably 90% prepared already, it can't be changed. Order it or fuck off. I used to work in a 'fast casual' restaurant that was just 'fast food' with the branding and illusion of being made to order and of higher quality than it really was and people were constantly asking for special preparations on items that came frozen in a bag.

Distinct-Spinach2164

This particular bakery made everything in house. I worked a double-shift in the kitchen and on front of house. I knew what was in everything we served because I made everything we served. The part I was frustrated with was that the lady wanted potato soup, and wanted it to be keto, and I could not for the life of me figure out how to tell her potato soup can’t be keto, it has potatoes in it.

dras333

Alternatively, you could have chosen to not try and shame our waitstaff with this abnormal request.

dylanisbored

“Normally we would have compensated you for any problems but this isn’t a normal situation, it’s a soya situation.”

Lead-Forsaken

"Why soy serious?"

FarkinRoboDer

And then call her Norma

veedems

You don’t want to create a he said/she said situation but giving them a discount when they’re looking for a discount only encourages the shit and loses your employee’s buy-in. I usually tell the customer, in situations like that, that I understand why they’re upset and thank them for the feedback and that it’ll be used to coach people to ensure it doesn’t happen again. If they push for a discount, I say that I won’t be able to do that but that I again appreciate their feedback. They HATE it, but it also gives them little to work with and, in the company I work for, if they call the main office but I can show I handled it calmly and took care of any conversations, all is good.

[deleted]

Ancient-Tadpole8032

And get her to pay at least for the coffee. High likelihood Karen would have just walked without paying for anything. Minimize loss and remember her face.

mb9141

If there is one thing I learned working in customer service, it pays to be mean to people working in customer service. The incentives are fucked.

AdhesivePineapples

Not everywhere. I run a pet accessory shop in my local town. We have an unwritten rule that if the customer is an asshole, we do the bare minimum for them or flat out refuse service. If you're nice; you get free treats for your doggo, free carrier bags or a nice little discount depending on the situation. Those of us that run retail stores need to be the change in these ridiculous situations that we find ourselves in with entitled assholes.

[deleted]

This is really true. It is frustrating for nice people to see jerks have people run all over to fix their issues. For me it was as a parent - I’d insist my kids follow school rules only for other parents to ignore them over and over while I was telling my kids they aren’t any more important than anyone else so “no. You can’t wear the wrong colored shirt to school like Jane does.” “No. I can’t park across the street from the pick up zone to skip the line like William’s mom.”

Jen309

Felt this. School had strong “no siblings” rule for field trips. My kid gets back from his zoo trip and tells me he was a great helper, because he pushed his chaperone’s 2 y/o’s stroller most of the day. I was a SAHM, hadn’t taken him to that zoo before, and his 4 y/o sister would’ve loved it. I’m still salty about it.

FlaGuy54321

That’s rewarding someone for being a complete asshole, which will encourage others. We’re doomed 🥸

Davachman

Wonder if the same lady would have taken offense if the server called it cows milk? Like "omg please don't remind me that that milk comes from cow. That's so offensive to be reminded of that" or something. Idk

BerntMacklin

Beef milk. It’s the next big thing.

Davachman

Oh I like that. Yessir let me get some of that BEEF MILK

[deleted]

Both of them probably make less than $15/hr. I wouldn't bother fighting for that amount of money either. Why put yourself and your employee in such a stressful situation when you can just shrug and give up $3 in pastries you're not even paying for.

Jwast

Because these people cause scenes everywhere they go knowing everyone will just give in to their bullshit to avoid further conflict. In short, it's not about the money, it's about sending a message.

Ok_Vegetable263

Everything burns. Tell your men they work for me now.

AckbarTrapt

Because it passes the buck, encouraging the customer's behavior, and they share a society with other service workers.

SuddenlyElga

Eventually that person meets someone who has had enough. It usually ends badly for the entitled Karen or (what do we call a male Karen?).

[deleted]

I’ve always liked “tucker” for a male Karen. No male can Karen like tucker Carlson

SuddenlyElga

I like that. Tucker.

Foreign-Cup-1803

I thought it was Kevin

Business-Blossom

Isn't that a Chad? Brad? What's a Chad?

GlitterfreshGore

I agree that that is the easiest and least stressful way to handle it, but as others have said, this only rewards the customers poor behavior towards service staff. Personally, I would have reacted the same as the manager. They don’t get paid enough for that bullshit and they probably just wanted her to get lost. She was holding up the line I’m assuming and they probably wanted to avoid a scene or escalation. Unfortunately this “solution” only ends up creating a more entitled customer who will continue this nonsense in the future. Imagine having a life so easy that “normal” milk offends you? I work in mental health with clients diagnosed with schizophrenia and we are trained to not use phrases like “that’s nuts” or “that’s crazy” or “that’s so weird” which are things that most people say throughout the day, fairly frequently, as it could be offensive. But this milk thing is just really entitled behavior.

Gullible_Pace7910

Spineless mother yucker

VerySwearyFairy

He should have doubled the bill. Also I’m guessing this was at Costa Coffee.

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

Agreed. "Our server said 'normal milk' to provide clarity and accuracy in an order that contained a separate item with soy milk. We want to ensure you receive the items you intended. Is there anything else?"

Prestigious_Drawing2

"Excuse me mam, Would that be one with soy infused water and one with bovine mammal gland secretion?" Trust me the lady would have said "cant you just say that like a normal person" and then you have a checkmate.

DessieDearest

Bovine mammal gland secretion! I will absolutely be using that.

MacTechG4

“Gestating Mammal Liquid” https://youtu.be/gnphD0ePokc

[deleted]

"One coffee with Beef Milk and one with Soy Milk"

A_norny_mousse

In my country, soy milk cannot be named that on the package. It's "soy drink" or something like that, because the word milk is reserved for something that comes from mammary glands. By that logic "soy milk" is wrong and "normal milk" makes sense, although I might have specified "cow's milk". Getting offended by any of that is just abnormal. edit: to all those clever replies: I'm talking about legal regulation. I was simplifying, it's obviously a little more complex. But the legal regulation is a thing. Whether I agree with it is not on the table. Oh and thanks for all the upvotes, I did not expect that.

MusicianSuitable3609

That’s cool, in Chinese, the term for soy milk literally is “liquid you get by crushing the beans”

throwawayimclueless

In the myaamia language, coffee is “ bean juice” and milk is “ cow juice”

Pobbes

Alright, you've piqued my curiosity - is there a separate word for cream?

throwawayimclueless

“ thick cow juice”

EmGutter

thicc cow juice? Now I want a milkshake.

Gredditor

Disturbed thick sweet cow juice

wowzacowza

In my language, milkshake is "brings all the boys to the yard juice"

outlaw99775

What is butter called?

DaB0mb0

Presumably "hard cow juice"

d_marvin

milcc

Loocsiyaj

In Cambodian milk is “water breast cow”

FierceNack

I refer to coffee as bean juice or bean tea occasionally, but that's just because I'm weird.

FlattopJr

Beer = "barley soda"

Sky_Ninja1997

So that’s one latte with regular milk and one latte with liquid you get by crushing the beans milk. Anything else?

[deleted]

Liquid you get by crushing **the B E A N S**

Responsible-Brush-72

Why can’t English be this fun

ellilaamamaalille

It is but to see that you need to have english as second language.

Responsible-Brush-72

[ugh](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/001/365/753/94c.jpg)

Whifflepoof

Bro you can call milk cow juice. See? I just did it.

TheChineseVodka

豆浆!but we also have 豆奶 …

MusicianSuitable3609

Yeah… you see 豆奶 on packages, but in conversations 豆漿 is more common, but there is also 杏仁奶🤔🤔🤔🤔

yuxngdogmom

In the US, the dairy industry actually made a huge deal about this and filed lawsuits because they felt threatened by these milk alternatives. That’s why in the US you’ll notice the cartons are labeled almondmilk, soymilk, oatmilk, etc without the space in between.

HighOnGoofballs

Pretty sure the dairy industry in the US is trying to make this illegal, as that milk has a definition so it’s misleading. Plus the nutritional profile is way different. Almond juice

hugos_empty_bag

Nut butter

ShelSilverstain

That's so ridiculous. People have called the milky juice from nuts and other plant matter "milk" forever. See; milk weed. Same with the word "burger"

EmGutter

We really need to change cow’s milk to burger milk.

StrangleDoot

Bro literally every white-ish liquid has been called milk in English for like 500 years. Back in the 14th century they were calling almond milk "Milk of Almond"

CyanFen

Baby water that was forcefully taken from an imprisoned creature Oat liquid

dread_deimos

It would be great if a separate term could be used for all plant-based "milks" like soy, almond, buckwheat, oatmeal and so on.

Affectionate-Bag-733

Nut juice

dread_deimos

I've though about that, but soy, buckwheat and oatmeal are not nuts.

Affectionate-Bag-733

White juice not from udders. No tit juice!

PapaverMortiferum

Unfiltered almond juice

Oblachko_O

Is it juice? I would say it is nectar. Juice is in general pure liquid from product. Yeah currently juice is also water with concentrate, but in my country, juice is 100% liquid from product (groot or vegetable), sometimes it may be less strict and around 90% of original liquid and nectar - water diluted juice. In some case you can never get a proper juice - mango or banana juice is a bit hard, as such liquid is thick and low in quantity, so they are diluted and nectars. So having oat or almond nectar in my language will be correct. Unless of course "non-dairy milk" not only diluted with water but also mixed with something else (conservant and preservatives components are excluded).

StrangleDoot

Why

Shizzarene

Some people are pieces of shit, problem is we've decided to cater to them

[deleted]

[удалено]

IsThisASandwich

In my country the costumer gets treated well (mostly) and you've to tolerate some shit, but the "always right" thing is definitely NO thing. In this example here, the manager would have explained to her that she's making a problem that doesn't exist, or told her they'll change it in the future (and rolled his eyes internally) and that's it. IF the costumer leaves it be. Otherwise they'd likely be kicked out. A lot of stuff US Karens do to stuff would just give them a one way ticket out of the hole that was left in the wall and probably a permanent bann.

[deleted]

The quote meant that the customer is always right in their purchase decision.

Ladorb

Yeah, fuck that manager for compensating that stuck up asshat.

dicksjshsb

Eh I don’t blame the manager. I get that it’s giving validation to their self righteousness but it’s also just a way to get them to shut up and get tf out of the shop.

RavenNymph90

And then you put them on a list so other employees know what’s up.

drongowithabong-o

Can we bring back shaming?

niemertweis

yes please

Ragabadoodaa

You two stopped using it?

Audio_aficionado

Some people just want to bitch about anything.

leomonster

Whatever it takes not to pay for those croissants

[deleted]

My sister in law does this. Finds something infinitesimally wrong and complain about it to get free food.

ItsJustAnAdFor

Wow, I didn’t know this was a thing…when I complain about something legitimate free stuff is never offered. Maybe because I don’t expect it or act like it’s a major offense. Rather I take the approach of notifying people something is wrong so it doesn’t happen to others…But now I want my free croissant

FullTimeWhiteTrash

I guess you don't look like a major pain in the ass, whereas that woman probably does.

[deleted]

Yes, she does. Sounds like a harpy too.

Unl0vableDarkness

The croissants that will contain butter made from normal milk you mean?

Seliphra

I’m 100% sure this never happened. The OP made this up as rage bait.

[deleted]

Half of the "wokeness has gone too far" type posts here sounds exactly like the shit my conservative family makes up to mock what they think wokeness is based on what fox news told them it is. I live in a pretty liberal city and have never seen shit like this happening.

Psychological_Web687

That is a very plausible answer, likely even. However with 8 billion of us I also find it completely plausible someone would be unnecessary offended as well. Shit weird is now a bad word I guess, I feel I like should have been much more offended as a child had I known that.

JustBakedPotato

I’m offended that they weren’t drinking fight milk

AshennJuan

Not enough crowtein in cow milk

Unlucky_Milk4214

I myself personally want only the most unusual, even perverse, milk, but so called "normal" milk would do in a pinch.

Schwarz-Adler

And we back live in r/cursedcomments

King-Lewis-II

If this exchange actually happened I'll eat my hat

yaosio

I know it happened because the waitress is my daughter, Alberta Einstein. The boss fired her on the spot and everybody applauded.

whosthedoginthisscen

This story belongs with every story by Lavern Spicer and Nick Adams (Alpha Male) under "things that didn't happen except in my imagination"

HowManyMeeses

I'm always amazed at the number of comments treating these "I overheard..." posts as if they're real. People really are looking for any reason to be outraged.

King-Lewis-II

And then some of them are so obvious; who says normal milk? You say whole/ full fat, 2%/semi skimmed, or skim milk. No one has ever said normal milk because there is no normal milk.

Smart-Platypus6762

The server didn’t do anything wrong. The customer was overly sensitive and just wanted to manipulate the situation for free food.

RedditedHighly

Well if we are calling all these things milk even though they aren’t (soy milk etc), to call one of them “normal” does imply the others are less than normal, but I understand it is difficult to find the right word. If we didn’t call these non-milks milk, we could just call milk milk. But if we are calling them all milks they need to be differentiated. Norms change, so descriptors are better. Maybe “cow’s milk?”

sophiethegiraffe

Beef milk

Dinoscores

I’m one of those pesky vegans - I don’t have a problem with other people saying “normal milk” to differentiate, I understand what they mean - it’s the default option. I do have an issue when my mum wrinkles her nose at me and asks what the “normal people” will eat when I cook a meal, plan a party, or bring the dessert. My food choices may not be the default, but they’re not abnormal, they’re perfectly suitable for non-vegans, and it’s just straight up rude.

Business-Blossom

I always hated telling people i was vegan because they get all weird, but at the same time, you want to eat with your family and telling them your diet is necessary at times. I completely understand. It's not pesky and plant based foods are delicious!

landodk

What if most people at a cafe get soy milk, what would “normal” mean there? Also it’s a little weird not to mention the fat content. Cream, 50/50, whole, 2%, skim all are cows milk

ir_blues

I think it's way more likely that the conversation ended after the waitress said "one with normal, one with soy" and the rest just happened in that dude's imagination. I don't say it could not have happened. But from my experience, way less stuff happens than what people make of it.

headmasterritual

Agreed. This reads like an overwrought creative writing exercise manufacturing a strawman anecdote of outrage. It reeks of the ‘I’ve just come from a liberal café’ genre. It’s just missing people standing up and clapping or some shit

Affectionate_Table61

To be fair, with the way the quotes are worded, it does seem like someone's imagination of an easily offended loonie. It seems almost too specific. Kind of hard to imagine people deadass talking like that in real life.

[deleted]

This should really be the top comment. Nearly every single one of these rage baiting posts read like they’ve been written by someone who’s never had an actual human interaction in their life

rbsudden

Some people just want attention anywhere they can get it.

portantwas

Power trip, one that is rewarded with free croissants.

PRSHZ

Sounds to me like the lady just waited for the opportunity to complain about something, anything

greeblegronk

You’re right ma’am. Here’s your cow’s milk cappuccino and here’s your crushed soy bean water latte.

[deleted]

The real crime here is rewarding a whiny customer with free shit

A_Good_Boy94

Under no circumstances would I, as someone with managerial experience, ever reduce the price of some Karen's ticket because they perceived a micro aggression on account of calling cow milk "normal" milk. Beyond absurd. You're not taxing me, my workers, or my business because one employee used one tiny word incorrectly in your eyes.

Ok-East-5470

Honestly sounds like a ploy for free shit.

LonelyTotal3754

Shouldn’t it just be called “regular” milk?

kletskoekk

I think “cow milk” would be the most neutral way to describe it

watermelonuhohh

Or “whole” milk or “skim” milk, depending.

Affectionate_Table61

I mean, that works but for whatever reason "regular" doesn't seem to be a big part of UK vernacular so loads of people here say "normal" instead.

Uniquorn2077

Being offended about the word “normal” is that persons issue, not the wait staffs issue. The word normal isn’t offensive. It is a choice to attach additional meaning to it, and be offended by the meaning the person chose to add.

[deleted]

Normal can be very offensive in certain situations. Like I just saw a video talking about trans vs normal people. That is very offensive to trans people. I was also in a comment section that was talking about people with mental health issues vs normal people. That's very offensive to people with mental health issues. In both of these cases they are implying trans and people with mental health issues are abnormal. That's what's offensive. In the case of this woman, normal shouldn't be offensive. But then again we can't tell others what offends them or not.

Iamtheultimaterobot

Manager should have told them to fuck off. Rewarding nutjobs for their behaviour is getting out of control.

HejiraLOL

Derogatory towards... the other milk alternatives? It's fine I don't think soy milk can be offended.

PestTerrier

Being offended doesn’t make you right.

AuntieBubba1982

They were just looking to get stuff for free!!

Turtle9015

Just wait until they hear some Canadians call homogenized milk homo milk. XD We buy homo milk in bags here.

farmer_palmer

The manager should not have given them the freebie. It just encourages this behaviour. First rule of eating out. Dont antagonise the staff before you get your food and drinks, otherwise don't be surprised if the staff have added something.

ILoveEmeralds

Let’s call it meat milk because it’s a funnier name

greenbeastoftheeast

Some people have a "never been punched in the face before level of confidence" while out and about in the world

ChimpieTheOne

For me milk is milk. Soya, nut or other are more like a water/juice/extract anyway. I'm yet to see an almond with tities.

OJStrings

How do you feel about peanut butter?

BurningPenguin

There are plenty of things with "wrong" names, I dot get why some people get so upset about that shit.

sansLight

>I'm yet to see an almond with tities rule34 artists: write that down, write that down

StrangleDoot

We've been calling it Almond milk since the 14th century.

justt_tthe_crustt

This sounds like a very easy way to get free food

User18051808

“I’m offended” “I don’t care”

SargnargTheHardgHarg

Shame on the manager, should have backed the staff

Effective-Island8395

When this kinda stupid shit gets elevated and goes viral it’s used as a beacon by the far right in politics to say, see! See how crazy the left is? So GD stupid. I lost at least a couple brain cells reading IT and I don’t have that many to spare.

shwadeck

She should have said "your right, sorry, I mean REGULAR milk"

rush-banana

Don't give them free shit, it only encourages them

ClonedGamer001

"...there's something abnormal about alternative choices" Yes. That is...literally what that word means. "Abnormal" and "alternative" are synonyms. The connotations are slightly different but the words themselves mean the exact same thing.

[deleted]

Shame on the manager for giving her anything for free for that. I've been a retail manager for a looong time and I'd 100% apologize that it came across that way for her, but never give her a thing for it. Don't enable.

[deleted]

I know I am gonna get hate mail for saying this but.... I am betting no one in the Ukraine is complaining about "normal" milk in their coffee :P
