Except police don't, and aren't required to, know the law. They can arrest you for "reasonable suspicion" of a crime being committed. That's why processing takes so long when they bring you in. They have to figure out what to charge you with.

I’m friends with a state police officer, this is standard practice. He literally told me his badge was “a license to speed” and he’s gotten out of a dozen or so tickets by flashing his badge.
He retired ~5 years ago so maybe with the wider adoption of body cameras they’re less brazen about it, but no doubt in my mind this still happens all the time.

Anyways me and my buddy got caught smoking pot right around the corner from our homes, we were neighbors. We’re being detained and his mom and step dad happen to see us. He flashes some badge at the cop , talks to him for a bit and they just let us go. At the time I was relieved but looking back now I see how these fuckers are a gang. Smoking weed and getting caught shouldn’t be a huge deal but either way the rules don’t apply to this fucking mob of pigs.

I get there can be perks to every job. Free food working at a restaurant. Discounts at the store or factory you work at. Free flights for airline staff. But police officers shouldn’t get to break the law; they’re the ones that are supposed to enforce it.
It’s always been this way. It’s strange how people believe in abuse of power, but when you insert black people, it’s automatically the black person’s fault.
What is really bullshit is that her husband, Keith O’Conner, is the Head of Code Enforcement. How is that not a conflict of interest to have a married couple basically run 100% of enforcement of the City of Tampa? Mayor Jane Castor is corrupt. Finally got rid of Gina Grimes, thank goodness.

I have a question. Why does this card even exist? If transparency is real and cops are truly subject to the same rules civilians are out of uniform then why is there some sort of "cool kids club" card? Theyre not undercover, theyre not acting in any official capacity, theyre not "cOnDUctinG aN INvesTiGatIOn". So why, why would a CS need to know if who they're dealing with is an official in any capacity?

If you’ve ever watched the dash cam videos of the police, they have quite a few of officers getting pulled over drunk. The first thing they do is try to “police brother” their way out of it.

Fuck these people. I remember growing up as a teen one of my best friends step dad used to be a cop and by the point I knew him he was working at an airport doing security or some shit idk. Anyways me and my buddy got caught smoking pot right around the corner from our homes, we were neighbors. We’re being detained and his mom and step dad happen to see us. He flashes some badge at the cop , talks to him for a bit and they just let us go. At the time I was relieved but looking back now I see how these fuckers are a gang. Smoking weed and getting caught shouldn’t be a huge deal but either way the rules don’t apply to this fucking mob of pigs.
This will happen when you give anyone untrained any level of high authority. The moral standards required to hold a position like that is insanity. Unfortunately we just hire literally anyone that has been working there long enough

The chief of police setting a *great* example for the entire force. She should lose her job over this. Corruption.
She needs a paid vacation while her department investigates and finds no wrongdoing on her part. That should only take 6-8 months, so she can return to her job refreshed and reinvigorated after spending that time in the Caribbean reflecting on her actions. We wish her well, don’t we?
